This video was extremely helpful. I know it's a couple years old, but these are solid tips that will last for years 🙌🏼
This is a great video. I do my racks and fusing very similarly. the only difference is that I use double zip ties to connect the fuses. I am trying to coordinate music for the first time this year. Wish me luck. Keep up the good work and have a safe and happy 4th!
Thank you for the awesome content! I'm slowly ramping my shows up and your tips will really help it out a lot! I'm still in the
Hi Jeduraiya, thanks for watching! Good luck with you show and stay safe! The 4th went well for us for 2020, 100% fire rate and no injuries or damage to property.
Great work on 2019 and this year’s rack. I can’t wait to see your 2020 show!!
Will Duck Brand Masking Tape Work?
Your videos have helped me a lot to plan for this year first time big show ... we’ll to us it’s a big show ... 46 200g cakes doubled up, 48 500g cakes, 211 Mortars ... hoping by doing what you did last year I can pull off something close
Hi C D, thanks for watching! You certainly have a big show to set for on your hands! Good luck with your show ans stay safe!
Interesting technique man, thanks for the video. I fuse them in a fan back and forth (instead of the leader fuse being on one side and always generating the effects going one way). I will be using this technique to achieve different results in different racks, the all 3 at once in the sky sounds cool. Great job!
Hi PyroWorks 365, thanks for watching! I like this fusing technique but next year I may run slow fuse for the leader fuse. The perfect fuse ended up burning way quicker than I was expecting and my fanned racks pretty much all shot off at once, lol. On the plus side, it was a very exciting show lol
@@brandonc7450 May have been from containing it with the masking tape. That'll generally speed any fuse up.
Great tutorial 😎
Great video. Thanks.
Does a shell ever pull the rest of the mortars with it because of all the tape? And they are all connected by tape
Is there a reason you don't use generic masking tape for everything? Is there something specific about the Scots rough surface painter's tape?
Thanks for the info! Can't wait to try this on my rack :-)
Do you happen to have a video of that setup being shot?
I’m trying to come up with a fusing technique for a good firing pace for this years show.
How fast will all these shells go off 1-30 in about a min.?
Been watching all ur videos, now after 4th I wanna see what your display does! Record it and post it!
Hi Steven Whittaker, thanks for watching! I will be recording the show for 2020! But I may have to edit music over the video because a DJ will be on the lake playing music. Ill probably get hit for copyright violations if I leave the DJ's music in the video :(
Good to know... Thanks
Great video! I will be fusing my own show for the first time this year, and this was definitely helpful. Is there any risk of the tape snuffing out any of the fuses?
Hi Andrew Douglass, thanks for watching! Black powder has its own oxygen supply in its chemical composition, so the tape will not snuff out the fuse. Good luck with your show and stay safe!
Brandon C great, thank you! Looking forward to more of your videos.
I have my rack fused similarly, but don't cover the tubes with tape. My concern is with my tape-wrapped fuses going over the top of the tubes. When the shell bursts out and hits that, doesn't it risk pulling the rest of the fuses with it?
If you have a fast fuse (.5-1.5s/ft) the tape will not affect anything. By then all of the fuses have burnt down so it is just a piece of paper that gets blown out by the launch. I have never had a problem with slow fuse either. I like the extra security that the tape gives you so you don't end up with sky puke.
Great video
Thanks for watching International MTBPro!
Nice channel. I subbed
Thanks for the video. I was wanting to do my 36 shot mortar rack as part of the finale and was wondering fuse timing. Is the combo you showed the preferred option or should I slow it down a bit?
Hi Brad Hokanson, thanks for watching! It depends on the speed you want to run your rack at. This should run fairly quick, it will keep bursts in the sky so that you dont have very much dark sky at all. My very last rack I have all 30 shells fused to the 0.1 to 0.4 second fuse, so basically the whole rack will go up at once.
Brandon C holysh*t. A while rack at once???
Would it not of been easier to branch out 2 separate fuses of the same speed from the cannon fuse and just run straight down each row instead of going sideways across on every one
Would it work well if I used perfect fuse for the first 24 shells then for the last 12 use the really fast fuse stuff so they go off at once? (I have a 36 shot fanned rack just like this)
Hi Chris, thanks for watching. I don't see any reason why your fusing suggestion would not work. Good luck and be safe!
@@brandonc7450 thanks for the reply, was just worried about switching fuses
Where do you buy your fuse?
Hi Levi, thanks for watching! I Usually buy my fuse from Pyroboom during the off season.
Where about do you live in Michigan?
I live in northern Michigan. Just trying to find someone that is enthused as I am about my fireworks lol
Hi Footballbat7707, thanks for watching! I live is the South East area of the mitten, greater Detroit.
We dont even get to see it go off???
Hi Ryan Spence, thanks for watching! Sorry for the delay, these racks can be seen going off in my July 4th Fireworks 2020 video that I just posted. Thanks!
@@brandonc7450 what time Mark does it go off at?
@@ryanspence7239 Hi Ryan, I had a total of 4 of these in my show and one modified to shoot as fast as possible at the very end of the show. The first one can be seen around the 11:25 mark. Thanks!
Where do you order your tubes from?
Hi LHaydon, thanks for watching. I order my tubes from Pyroboom. www.pyroboom.com/
Why would cover the entire tube with tape? (I get covering the fuses. But why all the tubes as well? (Not necessary.)
In case it rains. We are prone to stray thunderstorms in Michigan.
Embers can fall into the tubes, igniting the shell's green fuse and setting off prematures.
Could I use any tape I have ?
I know this was directed at Brandon but I felt confident giving you an answer. Using another tape besides masking tape runs the risk of the tape coming apart in high humidity environments, especially if it's clear gift wrapping style tape. Also that kind of tape burns badly.
Duct tape hold great but is thick and it runs the risk( although only slight ) of stopping the fuse from burning through.
Masking tape works best because it holds well and it burns better.
Any tape that has super thick adhesive, like electrical Trex or grollia could cause it to bunch and put out your fuse. Masking is the best, gift wrapping tape is a no no as it comes lose a lot and will cause failure.
Hi Thereal Sonlyve, thanks for watching! As others have mentioned for various reasons, I highly recommend masking tape. My top recommendation is the green Scotts Rough Surface (aka brick & mortar) tape (not Frog tape). It is a bit more aggressive than standard masking tape. I usually fuse my stuff a few weeks in advance of the show with the Scotts rough surface tape and I live in Michigan where it is usually humid. Despite this fact, I have never had an issue with the tape failing or snuffing out the fusing.
Brandon C this is so helpful thanks so much
@@86thsamurai I know I'm late to the party, but thank you for your advice. Super helpful as I'm just getting into this hobby.
