I own a mk7 and just did the same thing to my car yesterday yeah I noticed the obvious difference and performance. I was already running a stage one but now with the modification I'm completely using the stage one potential
Don't waste your time. I've seen the mods on this intake tested on a airflow machine. You only pick up about 3% more air flow from removing the snow grate and less then 2% air flow from removing the slots from the front air vents. That's a total of 25 CFM or less which translates into 1 Hp at best. I use a K&N air filter on my tuned 2017 TT roadster and although the snow grate is designed to prevent snow from being sucked into the filter, I found that it also keeps my air filter cleaner over time, which IMO, provides better long term performance and less filter maintenance.
+Solo Bellimino lol tell me why I thought of doing that already I wanted to buy me a carbon fiber vent it would look sick but probably in the future ...
You should also drill some 1" holes in the top of the grill plate, in front of where you cut out the solid piece, otherwise you are still drawing air from the right side.
How did you know thats my next mod bro i just been lagging on it thats my project for this weekend lets how it comes out stay tune for the new video haha .
@@AudiA3Newbie Also buy this part (5Q0 129 849) to block the gap on the left side. That gap is leading air to engine, not sure if its needed, but by blocking it, you get more airflow.

The AFE dry filter is recommended over the oil type of the K&N.
if my car wasn't new, I would cut a scoupe into the hood directing air straight into the box. turbo don't need ram, but what the hell lol

The snow grate is there for a reason... Also, the place you drilled out will allow water to directly enter your filter. Just saying...
Yeah i figured that out when i did but its okay because when you aftermarket cold air intake is the samething lol but thanks for the info.
Plenty of people did this mod over here. It rains alot over here, no one had any issues. We dont have much snow over here though.
Thanks for making this, definitely doing this this weekend
+Taylor Cu Np bro I'm glad u liked it..
