- Today we're checking out a 2014 Dodge Challenger RT Blacktop! The Challenger RT Blacktop is a very sinister machine! Dodge did an excellent job bringing the classic design of the Challenger back to life with the current model! Plus, you can't go wrong with a 5.7L Hemi V8 under the hood!

I've seen some comments threading here stating that the 2014 Dodge Challenger R/T's performs poorly compared to its competitors, namely the Camaro SS and Mustang GT. Firstly, the 2014 Challenger R/T performs quite well, despite its 2 ton weight, due to both its dimensions AND heavier materials used, such as in the comfy seats. Secondly, it is capable of 5.0s flat 0-60 times and street quarter miles of mid 13s @ around 108 mph, which is plenty swift for moderate fun. Thirdly, the SRT trim line was designed to compete with the Camaro SS and Mustang GT, not the R/T trims.
The Challengers were designed to compete with the Camaros and Mustangs WHILE offering a roomy and comfortable interior, a spacious usable trunk, and superior ride quality.
Lastly, these motors, if maintained properly and aren't used to commute in stop and go traffic, are quite reliable and low maintenance. The stock engine can be mounted with a positive displacement twin screw whipple supercharger to pump out around 620 crank hp at a reliable 10psi of boost. The company HHP can churn out a reliable and emissions compliant 500 crank horsepower from the stock engine with an in house package for around 8k. The Challenger is an overall a well rounded realistic everyday vehicle, whereas the Camaros and Mustangs are toys known for being fast and modifying.
I own one i straight piped and put a corsa exhaust kit - headers and intake - IT REALLY SOUNDS NICE NOW =)
Nice yea those pipes do sound nice I was thinking about getting the slp loud mouth exhaust on mines when i tell you that shit sounds nasty lol
I have a white 2014 challenger R/T with a scat pack exhaust and a Diablo chip, best car ever for daily driver and to have fun at the same time 👍
Got that right brother!
Does it pop 💥
How's the car holding up with a diablo chip?
Im thinking of getting one as my 3rd car. Right now I have a 2000 Mustang GT and I just cant stand the automatic transmission, and although the car isnt as slow as everyone says it is and it has great power for the price i also wish it was faster and more powerful. This challenger has great power for its price, its much cheaper than other muscle cars from this time period
Hey man, it was awesome being out there on the shoot with you! Your video skills really made the car look beautiful. So glad I could lend it to you for the day, we'll have to find time to take the cars up into the mountains for some fun.
I'd love that man! The second that the weather warms up lets head up there!
Found one on marketplace dude shits gonna be my first car lmao
I’ll probably lose the red stripes and boom
Thank God it's a manual
Eww 😷
Manual means bum knee by 40 if you live in city
Gross
@Brayden Hall manual means you wont be replacing a piece of junk dodge automatic transmission before 100k miles
Manuals are fun but autos are faster
Nice intro sir👍
How’s the reliability?
I have the 2014 challenger r/t custom, red. It is stick. I have yet to find one thing I dislike about it.
What about the fact that it still uses an aux cord? 😂
How did the 5.7L feel in comparison to the 3.7L Mustang? In terms of power, torque, comfort, and daily use and costs?
I couldn’t tell you about the costs of ownership but it’s a nice car to drive. Compared to the other V8 musclecars of the same year, the Challenger us subpar. It’s low on power and much heavier than the Mustang or Camaro. It makes a good noise though, has nice torque, but it just didn’t feel up-to-date. I prefer my V6 Mustang over this. The Mustang, despite having less power, is a much better driver’s-car.
Graham Cain yeah that’s what I was kind of thinking too, Challenger is my dream car but the 11-14 5.0 is my second. My next car will more than likely be a 11-14 3.7 and I’ve seen some challenger RTs around 15k ish, tempting, but I do like the mustangs interior a lot more, and I think it’ll be a better buy cuz it will be better on gas and stuff as well as easier to drive
@@Quintollooget the dodge challenger. You won't regret it
Hey Graham! Have you compared it to 3.6? Is the difference significant? You've said that there is planty of torque and so much hp, does it mean that this car feels very powerful in low rpms? Like you know, you touch a pedal slightly and you feel the power. I would like that and I suppose it is the main difference between this one and sxt but please cofirm if you can.
Unfortunately, because the Challenger is so heavy, the 3.6L V6 doesn't feel very gutsy; especially not when compared to the 3.7L V6 Mustang or the 3.6L V6 Camaro. I haven't had the chance to review the SXT Challenger for my channel but I have driven one and if you're looking at buying a V6 pony-car, look to Ford or Chevy. Their V6 cars are much lighter and more powerful. You couldn't go wrong with the SRT though, unless the cost of gas and insurance would be an issue for you.
its a completely different world. i own this exact car
My girlfriend has said that the Challenger is always a very sexy car!
Just A Car Guy Named Tom She’s correct the Challenger makes you notice it rather you want to or not I never cared for the 2014 because of the interior but now it doesn’t look that bad to me
Does anyone have a problem with the steering wheel peeling
It could be because your steering wheel is in direct sunlight when parked, too late now
@@bruce_tee yea that's what I was telling Dodge when they took pics of it and sent it to Chrysler I can't help that I stay in famously hot Columbia, sc but like I told them the steering wheel cover was not like that when I brought the car and since the car is still under warranty they should fix it cause the cars that are just sitting and waiting to be sold wonder if they have the same problem
@@jordanr132 good luck trying to get that fixed under warranty. its not going to happen.
What happened to your Mustang?
Nothing? This is a car review.
