Remember, you're required to get a performance ECM for the 2015+ Dodge vehicles because Dodge locks the chips from the factory. I know you can pay Dodge to unlock it for you, but I've not looked into that option, plus I don't believe you're able to install custom tunes, which you will also be required to do with any of the other mods in this list. Perhaps I missed it but if you drive a Challenger stock that's lower than the SRT versions, the best bang for buck mod you can do is buy better, wider tires. I know it doesn't add HP/TQ but I have a Scat with the stock 245's and I can't wait to buy my new tires. Spinning out sucks.
Yeah forced induction is always the best way to go and then an aggressive cam would be 2nd. The other add-ons will bring minimal gains but replacing the stock exhaust is a must, well at least on the older hemis anyway. I know that the newer late model Hemi cars have active exhaust and is really good these days, but that was one of the first things that I did with my 2010 Challenger SRT8 as the factory set up was much too quiet and the massive suitcase Style resonators and mufflers are heavy as well
Once you do a mod on any part of the engine from the throttle body to the Catalytic Converters (Basically anything other than a Cat Back and CAI) you need a Tuner anyway so your best money spent is to start there, a tuner and a good dyno tune. With that initial cost out of the way, Cams, heads, blowers, headers, etc. can be done and maximized. You'll need to retune after every mod!
Headers may be one of the lowest on the list, but with every mod you do, it helps increase the gains for that specific mod... cam, heads, etc. The exhaust helps it breathe to make the power those others will bring to the table.
necstanunn is 100% correct as far as the 'chain reaction' in HP gains goes from one good mod on top of another. @@fredosantana8626 Yes it can with no problems. The only issue that did come up was wheel hop. That is a common issue with the cars but pretty easy to fix
Catback exhaust and headers are mainly for sound and increased airflow... You don't see much horsepower gains unless paired with a throttle body w/ spacer, CAI, and a tune. So, some of these would be lower on the list. NOS has an increased risk of damage to the engine, so this is the tradeoff for the highest price-to-horsepower ratio.
Can you add a Fuel Efficiency effect for each? You might add a Risk chart and one for difficulty? One advantage of forced induction is that it maintains power at high altitude.
CAI has been proven multiple times to give zero horsepower gains. At best around 5. Headers won’t help much unless you have forced induction. How do I know you ask? I spent the money on these mods with my first challenger and found out the hard way. I even had it tuned, but the dyno doesn’t lie. Don’t waste the money. If you really want more horsepower save up for the supercharger and/or better tires. All these companies claiming 15-20 hp for a cai are botching their numbers.
CAI by itself will not do much at all. If you pull more more are in, you need to be able to do burn that air, and push that extra air back out the back. For best results you can add larger throttle body and spacer, intake manifold, a tune, headers, high flow cat and a larger diameter cat back exhaust. It all works together to move a higher volume of air.
Alex agreed....everything on this list, aside from F/I...is a waste of money. Headers, cam, e85...the best you can do for N/A COMBINED you'll get 50/75hp to the wheels. NOS is a (shot)..and extremely damaging to internals over a short period of time. Cat backs, CAI, high flow cats....nonsense
CAI & exhaust = minimum gains at best so I spent minimum $$$ on them. Hellcat Air Box + Mid Muff Delete = $165. 3RWH (lol) to my 15 SP Chally only mods I have done.
Sorry i have to say this video is very misleading. You're over simplifying these mods. to super charge or turbo a N/A car you need to reinforce the internals as well. To do headers on these cars are a pain in the arse. Any shop would charge a lot to do that. I would have to say a chip is a must for most modern cars to re map the engine to get the most HP safely.
Your horsepower numbers sound good to me, one thing to keep in mind is the internals....rods, pistons, crank of a stock 345 and 392 can't handle a supercharger. Sooner or later something is going to break under repeated stress. Most if not all engine builders recommend replacing all bottom end internals before adding a supercharger. I do like built 345's it brings back the days of the 340's especially the sixpack.....BTW you keep your car nice and clean, nice post man!
Actually, I personally own the '17 392 ScatPack and I know a handful of scatpack owners that bolted on to their cars a 2.9 L 3rd gen whipple superchargers w/o going through the process of upgrading the internals, and from 485 hp they're only using 10 lbs of boost to create north of 650 hp. Though i must say if they where to upgrade the internals then you'd be able to have a challenger faster than the hellcat for practically half the price
Mo Shahin how long have your friends been running 10psi boost and what bolt ons did they use? I ask because I’ve been going back and forth with the idea of getting a bolt on for my Scat and have read about plenty of people who have had stock 392 internals fail when using 8 or greater psi and a bolt on.
From people that actually tune these cars, the actual HP gains for a CAI is maybe 5 HP. For a bigger throttle body, about 0 unless you have other mods to need a bigger throttle body. For a catback, again not much unless you have other mods to need more exhaust. Though it might be more significant if you have something like 2015 or earlier which had smaller exhaust than the current models. For headers, you need to separate it into shorty and long-tube. Generally shortys do very little. But long tubes with a tune is significant.
A tune works with other adders to be higher on the list. Without the headers and cold air it isn’t going to be much bigger in the gains. Same with the forced induction.
Great video but if you don't know that heads, cams and a tune don't get you the most naturally aspirated power you shouldn't be upgrading your ride..no brainier and if you think it's that easy to just "bolt on" a super or pro charger without forging Internals and or upgrading other things your in for a surprise
From the factory, these cars come with a cold air intake. So I'd be reluctant to call a cold air intake an upgrade. Most (but not all) aftermarket intakes are hot air intakes evident by the filter being visibly exposed to under hood temperatures. Generally, if you can see the air filter element when you open the hood, then it's exposed to the heat of the engine compartment.
Don't use no friggen throttle body unless you're running some supercharger. And don't do no manifolds too. It aint worth it nor you'll get any serious power with it without boost
I hear a lot of people recommending CAI mods. Sure, the Power/$ is high on the graph, but the dollar amount of the mod is low which translates to - you shouldn't really expect that much from it. The bottom line is; it's an air filter, guys. Just an air filter. And just an air filter pulls from the same source of hot air under the hood that your stock filter was pulling from.
Jeff... it won't add horsepower, but if you get some new gears in the diff, you'll be able to have better acceleration and take off the line better without spinning those wheels. Off that subject, are these the mods to see on your car soon?!?!
This man laughing the whole time cuz of fast and furious logic and especially when he came up with the theory they called the police “corrupt” in fast 5 just so they can have an excuse to kill them and be called heroes got me dead 😭😭😭🤣🤣🤣🤣
The issue you run into with FI motors is long term longevity. You really have to forge the engine if you want it to last, especially if you're pushing more than 6 or 7 pounds of boost
Stroking will increase the distance the piston moves up and down therefore increasing the amount of air being pulled into the engine. This will help tremendously with torque but horsepower increase would be negligible if any. Increasing the bore increases the diameter of the cylinder walls and also increases cubic inches but again does not help much to increase horsepower. Your engine is like an air pump. The better it breathes in and out the better performance you will get out of it. Boring is mostly done when rebuilding an older engine that has lost it's cylinders roundness to true up the cylinders. If you want more low end grunt out of an engine you can definitely do this with a stroker kit. Otherwise if the engine doesn't have many miles I would not bother boring the cylinders.
Most of these will need a tune to see the full power gains, or any at all. Most of these wont do much on their own other than making the car sound a bit different...chips without a real dyno tune are a waste. Seeing dyno charts/runs and a combination of 2 or more of these modifications would be a nice video
I personally think your calculations are pretty accurate but you also forgot performance cam and if you really want to go all out all forged internals👍
The big drawback with nitrous is not only can you blow up your engine easier you have to keep on filling up your nitrous bottle at least with forced induction it's a one time bank buster.
Getting an air intake it doesn't seem really worth it 2 to $500 for 10 horsepower? And putting in exhaust system on the car is not really going to add any horsepower unless you are doing headers
Not sure about Challengers but a catalytic converter for a Rubicon can cost up to a grand. Not sure how a "performance" one could just be a few hundred bucks.
Yeah you don't gain much from catbacks, and got SLP loudmouths on my challenger srt8. I didn't think that they would, but got them for the sound and do work well together with CAI to help it breathe better though. The SRT8 do have functional hood, but I've been thinking about going with a hellcat or demon one and would work great to cool off the engine bay. Then to complete that part of it, I want to add headers, throttle body, and retune it with my diablo
Dude, tell me what airbox is gonna add 20-30HP on my 16 SP, i'll buy that shit right now!!. Even with the hell cat ram air on it, Maybe, just Maybe, I've got a 10-15hp gain if that. I"ve got intake, larger throttle body, Exhaust, headers, and i've seen a mild 28hp gain. I was at 441whp now i'm at 459whp. I think your numbers are waaaay off. And yes they were done at a performance shop. I should've just went straight to a procharger. Maybe the HP increase is different for a 5.7L, but I'm just posting what HP I got out of my mods.
The best Tuner is going to be a local one who can actually spend time with your vehicle. Canned tunes have had problems, where peoples cars have been running incredibly lean and they didnt know until they put it on the dyno. Also a performance shop tuner will be able to get you the most horsepower compared to a hand held tuner. But if you are looking for recommendations diablosport is the way to go. Best of luck

Adding racing chips to your naturally aspirated engines is a bad Idea ... it will dramatically increase the wear in the engine. But its quite the opposite for the turbo charged engines , it will add up to 80 HP compared to 20-30 HP in the natural engines !
Horsepower cost money. It's about getting all the extra horsepower out of an engine you can. Headers , cat back systems all help. Forced air is good but other mods should be done firsts. Simply adding more boost pressure to the intake manifold could cause factor pistons to crack

With this HP gain can the car handle it? Should the swtich Diff be upgraded to handle that? Anything to worry about with the upgrades you suggested?
Great point! 👍
Alex truth
CAI by itself will not do much at all. If you pull more more are in, you need to be able to do burn that air, and push that extra air back out the back. For best results you can add larger throttle body and spacer, intake manifold, a tune, headers, high flow cat and a larger diameter cat back exhaust. It all works together to move a higher volume of air.
Alex agreed....everything on this list, aside from F/I...is a waste of money.
Headers, cam, e85...the best you can do for N/A
COMBINED you'll get 50/75hp to the wheels.
Excellent video bro, I'm still running 100% stock. Now i can get started on some mods.
No problem. Good luck on the build
Great vid man.👍
2016 R/T thanks bro 🙏
Your horsepower numbers sound good to me, one thing to keep in mind is the internals....rods, pistons, crank of a stock 345 and 392 can't handle a supercharger. Sooner or later something is going to break under repeated stress. Most if not all engine builders recommend replacing all bottom end internals before adding a supercharger. I do like built 345's it brings back the days of the 340's especially the sixpack.....BTW you keep your car nice and clean, nice post man!
Thanks bro 🙏 how much would replacing the internals cost?
That's a good question, shop for a reputable engine builder. If you supercharge your RT...stonger rods and pistons should work.
Okay thanks 🙏
Now I have a question. Will all of these mods make the car not pass emissions?
What chalanger do you have?
Don't use no friggen throttle body unless you're running some supercharger. And don't do no manifolds too. It aint worth it nor you'll get any serious power with it without boost
Okay, thanks for the advice
I have a challenger sxt. Trying to gain some hp without getting a supercharger. Is the throttle body a bad idea?
Thank you kind sir. I have been looking for something like this for a long time
Very good explanation. I like it 👍👍👍
Cold air intakes honestly don’t do shit. There is no way you are getting 10-20hp with an air filter lmfao.😂😂😂
Don’t you have to get a tune to maximize the gain? And won’t that invalidate the warranty?
Yup
I hear a lot of people recommending CAI mods. Sure, the Power/$ is high on the graph, but the dollar amount of the mod is low which translates to - you shouldn't really expect that much from it. The bottom line is; it's an air filter, guys. Just an air filter. And just an air filter pulls from the same source of hot air under the hood that your stock filter was pulling from.
Excellent video!
Jeff... it won't add horsepower, but if you get some new gears in the diff, you'll be able to have better acceleration and take off the line better without spinning those wheels.
Off that subject, are these the mods to see on your car soon?!?!
necstanunn perhaps looking into it
Only idiots call it "nos"...
What gears are best for the challenger? I know a mustang the 4.10s or 3.73s are great
I think you got it spot on, man. Supercharger first. Bolt on maybe afterward
how much did that cost you? i have a '15 rt
Best vid yet 👌
Thanks bro 🙏
I have a challanger gt 2019 what headers should I get and what cold air intake should I get ?
Anthony Aranda I have a 2019 rt bro . Get long tubes if you can afford if not shorties . And you don’t need an intake . Get headers and tune
CAI and a larger throttle body combined MIGHT get you a 5 to 10 hp gain, no more than that.
This man laughing the whole time cuz of fast and furious logic and especially when he came up with the theory they called the police “corrupt” in fast 5 just so they can have an excuse to kill them and be called heroes got me dead 😭😭😭🤣🤣🤣🤣
Very informative
🙏
Nice car
Don't forget the really crucial modifications that void your factory warranty.
jesaliga name some
The issue you run into with FI motors is long term longevity. You really have to forge the engine if you want it to last, especially if you're pushing more than 6 or 7 pounds of boost
I enjoy ur vids since I got my 14 Challenger rt it was something different for me but I enjoy my Challenger in looks and drivability
Yup challengers are awesome
How much horse power did you gain for both, catback and intake?
What about stroking or boring the engine?
Good point 👌
Thank you..Very good Presentation and Graph of cost/HP gained!!- James 2013 R/T +..White..Red RT stripe
Sweet video man. Super informative
Thanks bro!
Idk it seems like a nice k&n filter does just as good as a intake
Most of these will need a tune to see the full power gains, or any at all. Most of these wont do much on their own other than making the car sound a bit different...chips without a real dyno tune are a waste. Seeing dyno charts/runs and a combination of 2 or more of these modifications would be a nice video
I thought PCM's after 2015 were locked on the Challenger?
Right on Bro !!
Would these mods work on my 2013 r/t?
Yeah that sounds about right!
Um. 441hp to 451 hp is an 18hp increase (not 28hp)
451-441=10
459-441=18
Did you get your car tuned? You're never gonna see the power without tuning. Go get a diablo sport tuner, you might be surprised
Are those headers, 6 cylinder headers for the challenger?
Damn good Info brother
All of will only work if you have an unlocked pcm and then get it tuned
what's the best tuner for a 2014 challenger 5.7?
The best Tuner is going to be a local one who can actually spend time with your vehicle. Canned tunes have had problems, where peoples cars have been running incredibly lean and they didnt know until they put it on the dyno.
Also a performance shop tuner will be able to get you the most horsepower compared to a hand held tuner.
But if you are looking for recommendations diablosport is the way to go. Best of luck
I like the cost analysis. Did you use power bi for the graphs?
So by your logic,
Full exhaust, intake and throttle body on a scat pack will gain 130 horsepower.
U high?
How much performance improvement have you gotten? I see 6.4s still out run you
Awsome video as always! How have you been? I've been busy! Sorry will catch up on your channel! Have my car out for a couple of nice days here in Wisconsin 50's to 60's here and after a big rain storm to wash away the salt. I sure did miss driving her! 😎
draw a picture of a cat with horns and stick it to your windshield , hell cat upgrade for 2 cent.
I have a 2018 Dodge Challenger T/A 392 SRT, and I wanna add a Procharger. Can I just purchase a kit without upgrading anything else. After spending a lot on the supercharger, I'm not looking forward to upgrading the internals. Any insight from anyone will be appreciated!
Upgrading internals isn't a bad choice; (just to be on the safe side) if longevity is a concern.
I got borla exhaust on my 16 challenger rt, sounds like a beast!
how much did that cost you? i have a '15 rt
Tall guy car reviews put headers and a borla attack exhaust on his hellcat and he dynoed it and it loss hp.
can I just add twin turbos ?
Outta here. Your numbers are exponentially eggagerated. No way.
Adding racing chips to your naturally aspirated engines is a bad Idea ... it will dramatically increase the wear in the engine. But its quite the opposite for the turbo charged engines , it will add up to 80 HP compared to 20-30 HP in the natural engines !
Can't do the headers. Dodge decided to weld the stock ones on. It's fuckin dumb I kno
Cold air intakes is just a waste of money
Horsepower cost money. It's about getting all the extra horsepower out of an engine you can. Headers , cat back systems all help. Forced air is good but other mods should be done firsts. Simply adding more boost pressure to the intake manifold could cause factor pistons to crack
I heard those tuner chips can mess up your engine
Buy a Pine Scent Air Freshener! Prior to this purchase my car was low and slow. Today i'm proud to say the Fresh pine added 90-1000 horsepower
What is the name of the cold air intake?
Afe power momentum
I have an old 4 cylinder s-10. i only need a few horsepower just to be able to pass a car. What would be be4st for that ? I do not need top speed. it is old and kind of ratty, so all i want is a small cheap fix to get some passing power is all. Any body have an idea? will take any ones suggestion, so feel free. Only passing power is all i need with this 4 cylinder.
Gears. Hands down best the bang for the buck in a 5.7 car.
What gears should I get for the 5.7
Man just get yourself a Fart Can and some Stickers and you Gain 1,000 HP & 1,000 TQ Instantly! LOL
What’s good bro what’s the best way to reach out to you got some other questions to ask
Instagram @modernmuscle213
I love ur vids. I have a question tho. Do you think its worth the money getting a Scat Pack instead of an R/T?
Yeah definitely go for the scat pack if you can
Thank you for your thought on it. It helps
I have the RT wanting to trade it for the scat pack soon
