IMPORTANT NOTICE: You can contact Rodolfo (Rudy) Blanco at his Facebook page and view his listings by searching his business Beaches Please on Facebook for his site. While I still have a very affordable rental, please be aware that rental prices in Vallarta (due to USA inflation) have gone up 30 to 40 percent since last year. This is really reflected in Airbnb Prices. However, Rudy has a lot of great rentals at affordable prices even though they are higher than what you would have paid when this video was made.
I love your comment. Yes, those 20 somethings can really intimidate us 70 year olds especially when I know I have jeans and shoes in my closet older than they are. Thank you!
That's so funny Francine. My dad's (84 yrs) favorite retort is " I have underwear older than you". ( ; I know kinda cringe worthy but dad's say that kinda stuff eh. You have great life there, I love to do the same as I'm 63 now. Puerto Vallarta is a magical place and is obvious you found your heaven eh. Thanks for the lovely video.
Agree 100% So tired of seeing only young 20 something, 30 somethings Nice to see senior citizens, yeah! Where I live, it costs over $1,000 a month for a tiny little studio apartment, and have to pay utilities. I take the city bus in California and bring one of those fold up shopping carts on the bus with me. Do you have those there you can buy?
@@francinebritton5939 - So this is you?! So cool!!! My dad was the first born in US but my grandparents are from Mexico. I'd love to visit this location. Seems like a truly wonderful place. @@francinebritton5939 I was going to say the same thing!! You are so nice and cheerful! I'm glad you found your little corner of heaven down there in Puerto Vallarta.
@@francinebritton5939 Hola Francine, obviously every person has a little bit different variation on the experience with living in Mexico, whether they are Mexican or expatriate gringos. One of the things that determines the different experiences is what a person’s budget is that they live on each month, and whether they are working or not. . I work freelance in movie & TV production in the US and Mexico, and it’s been many many of trying to get a permanent work visa. they just provide temporary visas, but it’s like an ongoing thing. Of course I can make at least five times more money per day in the US but I don’t look at it that way. I love Mexico and my income in Mexico provides a comfortably modest lifestyle. While living in Mazatlan I would always take buses or walk or bicycle. For my big weekly trip to the supermarket I would take a bus to go there but treat myself to a taxi for the ride back since I would have a lot of supplies. I enjoy videos like this but too much of it seems to be like a big sales pitch for people to come live in Puerto Vallarta. In the big picture I think it drives prices up and pushes locals further out to the edges in Puerto Vallarta. For me it’s been very hard to see what happened to San Miguel de Allende over the past 20 years. A house that was for sale for $35,000.20 years ago is now priced at $300,000 and they haven’t done any improvement or repairs to it it’s still the same fixer-upper. And sadly, the average housekeeper or gardener still make a very low wage, which ironically is what provides such an affordable lifestyle for retired Gringos to bring their money from outside the country. It’s good for Mexico economy but certainly doesn’t improve the chances of that same HouseKeeper ever enjoying the same lifestyle that we enjoy when we’re in Mexico. Eres una joya Francine. Me alegre mucho su gran abrazo de México!

Hola! I have watched hundreds of travel/life in Mexico videos and this is one of the best I've ever seen! It's so nice to see REAL life, the slow pace, and the happiness of the people there. I'm in Tulum and I feel like I need to move to PV! I would really enjoy more videos like these, especially if you can find people of all ages who move there. Thank you
organic artistic, I think you will like the videos I will be posting in the near future. I will be highlighting people living at different budget levels and living different lifestyles and I always mix in some of the arts.
@organic artistic Hiya. Puerto Vallarta is cheaper than Tulum and is more as a town than a tourist place (that is the feel anyway) so it is a good optión. Best luck
tulum has become overhyped and the market there is overheated. now with the cartel violence, I fear tulum's days are numbered. a shame- it used to be so charming and sleepy!
$1.75 to Have laundry washed, dried…. Ironed. Honestly that brings tears to my eyes. The luxury! And as I get older it’s so nice to have help with anything! I love it. And supporting the local merchants and service providers. Really amazing
She has made a wonderful life for herself. She’s living a better life on her basic $1000 per month then a lot of retirees spending 5 times that amount. Delightful woman.
As an American expat living overseas for more than 20 years, I would recommend to any American contemplating moving abroad to do as much research about the country where they plan to relocate to as they can and if it's feasible, they should pay an extended visit to that country also but not to stay in a hotel like an ordinary tourist; you won't learn much about your host country if you do that. I recommend an AirBNB-type stay so that you can get an idea how the locals live and how much it costs to shop for essentials. It will also give you an idea as to whether you can adapt to the local lifestyle and/or what you may need to give up. Keep an open mind, be as flexible as you can and it always helps to learn the local language. Best of luck!
@@kinhason46 Never been to the Philippines but you raise an important point; as Americans, we should not expect to find everything in our new homes that we had in the States. We may not find certain foods, the same level of amenities and certain creature comforts. I'm not saying that the rest of the world doesn't have most of what there is in America but to give you an example, certain online streaming services like Hulu are not available outside the United States. Since I live in Greece, I am 7 hours ahead of the US which means that when I want to watch events like the Super Bowl, I have to stay up literally all night long. There will be a certain amount of adjustment that expats need to make which is why I say it's not for everyone and as you said, you need to shop around.
Some good advice. I have been in México for te past 15 months just before quaranrine. México can be great but in many áreas i get treated like n ATm machine. @@utecastronoova863 I had a similar experience years ago when I was in Juarez and I ran a yellow light. A cop pulled me over and wanted to write me a ticket but I asked him, "can't we just settle this here?" So he asks me how much money I have on me and I tell him I have 50 bucks (I had more but as with the IRS, you never declare everything). So he tell me to give that to him and sent me on my way. It's the only time I ever had to bribe a cop!

@@wrshannon74 You are incorrect. I lived in a less expensive apartment when I moved in 2011. At that time I paid $300 USD all inclusive. I rented this apartment in June of 2019. This is still possible in 2022. Rudy Blanco from the video who runs Beaches Please rental company has helped many people find apartments between $450 and $700 per month with large spaces (not a studio like I have) being the higher end. Me and four other family members, I’m really excited for it, the next months are probably going to be the slowest of my life because I can’t wait to get there. Everything we value in life is better there. We’ve visited a few times and the fact that we can afford a house just a few minutes walk away from the Malecón is like a dream come true so we’re pulling the trigger on it. I’m just hoping I meet someone who is friendly and bilingual so I can learn the language quickly.

WOW! Thank you for sharing this. Inspiring to see a ‘seasoned’ woman DARING to live abroad. Soooo glad she’s enjoying it,. Seems like a lovely lifestyle.
I really enjoyed watching this. I live in Canada and with winter approaching, I appreciate seeing such a beautiful climate. The colours of the homes, the art and the landscape are just amazing.
Love this view of someone’s life who isn’t rich or young living well on a small income outside of the USA when it would be impossible to live as well on same income in the USA
Hi Sonia, This is the budget I choose to live on in Mexico not my income. Having this budget allows me to continue to travel, eat out often, and splurge when I am back visiting friends and family in the USA and in the UK. However, that being said - many people do live on this solely and look for apartments that are below what I pay. It is all possible and doable - you just need to integrate and live with the locals (which I absolutely love).
A way to adapt to the country is learning their language, even if it's not necessary in a particular town. It's a form of respect for the locals and it opens up another world knowing a different language, so it's beneficial.
The Zona Romantica is the most expensive part of town and also the busiest and noisiest. You can save a ton of pesos backing away from the beachfront and up into Las Glorias and such districts and you will have a more tranquil experience. The beaches are only 10 minutes away and far less crowded and you will meet more actual Mexicans
Thanks Wendy. I really cannot think of any place I would rather be - having worked and lived in 26 countries - choosing Mexico to retire was the best decision of my life. Please stop by the office if you are downtown we are next to the pastry shop on Pino Suarez and I would love to meet you.

This video was so fun to watch and I recognize many places. I wish this had a love button instead of a like. My husband and I owned a condo in PV for 20 years. It was in the Condominios Playa Dorada building. Right on the beach on Playa Camarones. It was right next door to the Hotel Rosita. We would come to Vallarta at least 2 times a year. We absolutely love it there. The people are lovely and it's just a great town. Unfortunately my husband had a stroke so we ended up selling and haven't been back. We both miss it so much! I noticed a few comments about how dangerous it is there. That is not true. We always felt safe. We're from the Chicago area and the crime rate is through the roof. PV is hands down, much much safer.
I love the Dorada building! And the Rosita!!! Such lovely memories you have and thank you for validating my own comments (I would never make an incorrect statement about safety) that I stated in the video! I have never felt unsafe in the 11 years here and PV just ranked AGAIN, the 2nd safest city in Mexico.
Puerto Vallarta playa de los muertos is a cespool especially when rainy season hits. It's not all toses Expats live in a bubnle and mis rarel intereact to Any meaningdul degree with locals like i do.
Why many people complaining about Mexico. I thing is one of the best places in the world to live, very modern, cheap life style, stylish and great architecture buildings very beautiful views. And great people friendly and polite Thank you for the nice video
Because some places are dangerous. It just depends where you are and what time. I have family that live in Sinaloa around cartel families and they don’t say anything out of fear but at the same time some of them do help the people by giving them jobs to survive. I also have family in Guadalajara and they have been robbed a few times at their home. So it depends where you are in Mexico.
This is very, very true. Many people even live here on that. The apartments above my office rent for between $300 and $350 USD and some of the tenants there (on this perfect street) have been there over a decade.
My wife and I live in a mountain house in Japan for $150 a month and a 3 bedroom beach condo in southern Thailand for $700 a month, and we travel back and forth with our 2 kids. We are both digital nomads in our late 40's.
@@francinebritton5939 I think all of these expat opportunities illustrate how costly it is in America (or other Western Countries), but in other countries we can live a normal life.
@@hamburger-fries I totally agree. And while $1000 a month is not my income, living this well and wanting for nothing on this budget in Mexico allows me to travel, save money, and not think twice about treating myself to dinners out, theatre, travel in Mexico and trips to other countries, cruises, etc. None of this would I be able to do on my retirement income in the USA.
Oh wow! Is it fairly common for someone in Japan to be able to rent a place for $150 a month? How might someone find such a deal. I am currently researching the living costs for a retired Japanese woman and had no idea it could be so affordable there.
@@lavendersky4324 This is very common in the country side. You need to choose where in Japan you want to live. If you need the city life you can still find small areas 10-20 minutes outside of town with low rent homes. Most towns give you ¥1 million yen towards renovation. All of these ¥15,000 homes will need some renovations. My advice is if you are Japanese then you should buy the house with a loan which means 10% down on about $35k but I would get the loan to cover the renovations for 30 year terms. I would get a studio apartment just outside of the town you like for a few months which cost about $400 a month. This would allow you to show your face and look at 20+ homes to get a feel for things. You need to introduce yourself to everyone you can. There is no real estate agent for these cheap homes. You need to introduce yourself to many different people. Buy a case of chocolate or something and give out gifts to people who are helpful.
She's living her best life. If I were healthier.... I might consider it. But I'm so happy for her and all the residents and ex-pats. WhooHoo. GBU all. Stay safe. Well done. :)

@@lrodd247 honestly, since there are SO MANY retirees (not a bad thing whatsoever, I have many wonderful older friends) anybody under 40 is definitely considered a young expat. I’m in my 20’s and when i first got here I was shocked whenever I met anybody my age that was living here and so were other locals (Mexicans). When I was in Puerto Vallarta I went to look at some low rental properties. And most of the places I saw, had expats living in apartments I'd say the size of a hotel room for close to US$500 a month. So she is real lucky.

This style of video really fills a niche. Most videos look at new places through the eyes of a newcomer or a tourist and not someone who has lived there for some time. It's so good to see the routines and preferences of a longer term resident. Also, most of the videos that do talk to longer-term residents just have sit-down interviews without slides or local video. She is a wonderful person and exemplifies what it is to respect and help others. She respects Mexico and also helps the people around. Great video. I am a permanent resident in Vallarta and I must say that normally, your monthly budget will be higher due to the rapid rise in rents here. There is not many places all included below $1000 USD a month in Vallarta anymore. And more upscale is $2000-25000 easy. She is lucky to have had her appartment for a long time and at a friend's price. Anyway lovely lady, thanks for sharing
The many Vallarta Web Groups that pop up on facebook as well as UniqueProperties and BeachesPlease specifically, on Facebook, have many rentals in my price range. It does take some looking around but as we approach the low season here - there are plenty to be had like mine. A friend just rented a great place in 5th de Deciembre for $8000 pesos per month plus electric. Downtown is ideal for looking for an inexpensive rental as is Versailles, Pitial, Fluvial areas. The apartments above the PVV offices run 6 to 8 thousand pesos per month each and are in the heart of old city/Romantic Zone. It is my experience with friends moving here all the time, that they have been able to do what I have been able to do. Hope this helps. Take a look on Facebook.

Do you have the link to Rudy's Facebook page?

What a delightful person she is, and so super respectful of the locals and their customs.

@organic artistic Hiya. Puerto Vallarta is cheaper than Tulum and is more as a town than a tourist place (that is the feel anyway) so it is a good optión. Best luck

I'm an ex-pat since 2008 in Dauin, Negros Oriental, Philippines...many pros some cons, shop around kids!
Local police are corrupt especially in tourist zones. My take so far is it's good...until You get sick or get into trouble somwhow with police. Been extorted 3 times by police in Quintana Roo.

My mom and I lived in mexico when I was a kid. I loved Mexico and wished I could visit again. I still miss the food. And the colors!
I really hope you get to return one day soon. It is a warm and welcoming country.
James Stuart, Thanks for the excellent recommendation.

Puerto Vallarta is beautiful! Remember one thing is a very tourist city, in most parts of Mexico you can live on $700 monthly.
What a fantastic life and how lucky, lucky, lucky your children are to experience different cultures. Best of all the best to all four of you!
It sounds like perfect for me.. I am in my forties ... I cant wait till kids grow up and I convince my friends to take off
carina ibanez, I think you will enjoy it very much. My son loves to come visit me and I now have many international friends around the world.
She's living her best life. If I were healthier.... I might consider it. But I'm so happy for her and all the residents and ex-pats. WhooHoo. GBU all. Stay safe. Well done. :)
Thank you so much. I wish all Seniors could have such a beautiful and quality existence…even something close to it. America has failed the quality of life measure for everyone seeking a decent, safe, civilized environment.😢
Is seems to be in part true.:-(
So agree. I no longer recognize America
Thanks for sharing this lovely slice of life of a place I've never heard of! She looks so happy there and who wouldn't be 💖
Thanks Zoe. It's a great retirement these past 11 years. I moved here when I was 59 and have not regretted the decision. Weather and people are wonderful.
My favorite place in the world! Been there dozens of times, I would love to live there at least part of a year. It’s beautiful!
I totally agree!
I love how knowledgeable she was about her neighborhood.
I really love where I live and never dreamed of having such a great, stress-free retirement. Life is very good, and all I said 3 years ago in this video is still holding true. I live on less than a $1000 USD per month and want for nothing. My simple lifestyle makes me happy and content with what I have.
Been living here in Vallarta for 6 years now. Can be tough for a young expat at times, but see a lot more youth moving here. Such a special place.
Looks like a nice place, congrats! What's considered a young age for an expat?
@@lrodd247 honestly, since there are SO MANY retirees (not a bad thing whatsoever, I have many wonderful older friends) anybody under 40 is definitely considered a young expat. I’m in my 20’s and when i first got here I was shocked whenever I met anybody my age that was living here and so were other locals (Mexicans). They would always assume I was on vacation because almost exclusively expat retirees lived here. Although times have changed a little bit over 6 years which is welcoming.
@@justins.7316
Oh OK. I can see how the locals would be a bit surprised you actually lived there considering your age. I'm glad things are changing as far as age groups living there now, that's cool. May I ask how you ended up living there at such a young age? It's interesting to me.
My first experience living in Mexico is Playas de Tijuana, for what I have seen in this video a world apart from PV, in so many ways .
Where do you go for medical help if needed?
Wow, she's really fallen on her feet, what a lucky lady! What a fabulous life.
This woman is fabulous. Great to see her living her best life. I’m thinking of joining her down there. Beautiful area!✨
Cindy Bogart, Thanks for watching and taking the time to leave a comment. I hope you have the opportunity to visit in the future.
Thank you for your kind words Cindy. Moving here at 59 to semi-retire was such a great choice. I am so glad I did it! I hope you get to visit us soon!
@@francinebritton5939 Thank you!
When I was in Puerto Vallarta I went to look at some low rental properties. And most of the places I saw, had expats living in apartments I'd say the size of a hotel room for close to US$500 a month. So she is real lucky.
Check all the Facebook PV rental pages, you will see many apartments like mine or better at reasonable prices.
GENTRIFICATION, !!!!!! Its Ugly no matte where it happens!
I absolutely loved this video. This woman is extremely fortunate to have found such an ideal location! I cannot believe that there are many such ideal places left for expats. I'm planning to move to Puerto Vallarta in the next year. I am praying I'll be as lucky as she is!!
Hello, Thank you for your kind comments. Tu eres muy, muy amable! Yes, there are actually many places like mine (especially from now until October when the seasonal people return) available long term in my price range. However, this are in very nice Mexican hacienda houses as pictured on the video. It will not be in a modern, multi-story condo building that has just been built with every American convenience. It all depends on your willingness to learn some spanish and intergrate into the wonderful neighborhoods like Emiliano Zapata and 5th de Deciembre; Versailles, etc. Let me know when you are thinking of coming and Rudy Blanco from the Video will be glad to help you. He can be reached at uniquepropertiesrep@gmail.com; or his facebook page Beaches Please. He has a great one right now for $600 per month short term or a better price for long term.
This will be my life✌️I'm always proud of people who move to a different country 😊
Thank you for your kind comments! I hope you get to move here!
Francine, you are so vivacious that I'm sure you would be happy and do well wherever you live! It was so refreshing to see a mature woman enjoying life on her own!! Blessings to you!
Thanks Jo Ann for your kind words in Spanish - Tu eres muy, muy amable. I have worked for my job in 26 countries over 31 years and ended up retiring here in Mexico 11 years ago. It was such a great choice. I was out of the USA for my entire career and it made so much sense to choose Mexico! Again, thank you for your lovely words, you made my day!
@@francinebritton5939 I meant every word! I would love to live outside the US, but it is just to late for me. I don't know any other language (took Latin in HS) and now have health issues so need to be near family. Please enjoy your good life!!
That lady was so nice and pleasant to.listen to.. wish I could get there i would love to live there and around seniors as she is. Happy days for her and her beautiful personality.
Thank you Connie for your kind words: Tu eres muy amable! Please come visit - PV awaits you! Please look me up if you are ever down this way, and yes I have a great circle of friends of all ages - expats and Mexican who love living here too. It is a wonderful retirement and while my budget is very small and I truly want for nothing! However it is important to note: it is not my income and the savings by living on this budget allows me to travel and when I can (hopefully soon) take cruises. I really enjoy being 70 in Mexico.
Thanks to you and Francine for this wonderful look into living on Mexico's west coast. I've been to Puerto Vallarta several times and just love it. I love Mexico and the people and can't wait to go back!
Thank you so much Cindy! Tu eres muy, muy amable: you are very, very kind. I hope you get to come back soon.
But the way that you walk around with her on her daily routines and show her preferred places is fantastic.
Now I have a good idea of what it's like to live there. Keep these videos coming!
I love Puerto Vallarta , I have visit 13 time. I love the people there , the authenticity of there home. I am thinking of retiring there. Please continue with the information about retirement. Thank you.
Blanca I Gonzalez, Thanks for watching and taking the time to leave a comment.
Fabulous to see older single women living & living joyfully! Thank you!
Elizabeth: Thank you for your kind words: Tu eres muy, muy amable!
She explains things so well❤️❤️ such a great video to watch
This is fabulous work both interviewer and especially today's star Francine. I'm looking forward to more of the same.
Tu eres muy amable! You are very, very, kind! Thank you - mil gracias!
She is a wonderful person and exemplifies what it is to respect and help others. She respects Mexico and also helps the people around. Don’t just take from Mexico if you can help the people as well it will be great. Many that live there cause the prices to go up really high and Natives then can’t afford to live there because it’s so expensive.
Exactly! You are a highly intelligent human and also kind.
It should be that way everywhere.
PV is a magical city. The people are fantastic. The food is amazing. The weather is GOLD. My dream is to retire there one day. This woman is living her best life! #goals
Sweet lady I'm glad she is happy where she's at. More videos like this please!
Thank you for your very kind comment. It has worked out great for me to semi retire to Mexico for the past 11 years, soon to start my 12th year here.
Really enjoyed this. Please try to continue with similar subjects in other parts of Mexico. Extremely valuable for many of us. EXCELLENT format and well done.
You are a Great Lady! I'm Mexican and I'm glad to have you!
Thank you. This is the nicest compliment I have ever received. This past week my neighbor invited me to his birthday party. I was so honored and the only non-Mexican person there. It has been so wonderful integrating into my adopted community and 12 years later it is the best decision I ever made! Thank you again: Tu eres muy, muy, amable!
@@francinebritton5939 I so enjoyed your video. Its so beautiful there and have been there and used to go to Puerto Penasco for years. I am a retired Nurse and wondering how hard is it to find a place to rent there?thank you so much for sharing your Happy Life.
@@jeweleyes2313 It is not hard at all to find an apartment, house or condo to rent. And... in my price range. @@francinebritton5939 awww so lovely to know you're well taken care of ❤️ I wanted to ask since you work in real estate do public notary earn enough to sustain a, living out there? 🥰
@@jazminmillan2982 Hi Jazmin - a notary here is a different job - they are similar in status to a judge and have the full authority of the court to make decisions. A job like you have in the USA would be a reclosing services specialists. They make about $3.00 to $3.50 per hour. Wages are very low here, compared to the USA. You would also need to be a permanent resident and acquire working papers. You can google more specifics on this. Also Jim will be doing more informative videos in the future, addressing this. I hope this info helps you a bit.
Love that you spoke with someone living in an area for a while
Mmmmm, you have put a bee in my bonnet! I am fully bilingual and love the Mexican culture, the music, the art. This would be a perfect retirement community. Thank you 😊

She's living my dream life. Love PV. For many years I traveled each February from Kansas. I never wanted to return home.
I hope that you get to return to PV soon! We will put the welcome mat out for you. It is a wonderful place to live!
Take a look on Facebook.
overpriced for what mexico offers, rather be in asia.
@@MonkeySpecs301 Mexico is close to the US and learning the Spanish language is easier than learning an asian language. Every place has it's pros and cons.
