Oil companies are in business to sell oil. You are right, if they tell you the stuff needs changing, but the stuff is still clear, they are just drumming up business. Otherwise, maybe wax the daylights out of the front of the rig will help slip through the air too, Johnny. I do know cabovers are sheets of plywood in the wind, never buy one!
I have one question, what load board do you use to get your loads nowadays? Also do they take a percentage when you use their load boards? Sorry if this is a bad question I'm trying to learn. Thank you for any help and any response
I use DAT members edge, It is a monthly subscription, $89.00 per month. I only use load boards for back hauls, I have a direct customer for my outbound. Thanks for watching!!!
Very interesting Johnny. ..I didn't know all that figured in gas mileage. Glad you will be headed East tomorrow, be safe and get yourself some good rest this evening
Thanks! I don't know much about the MX. I drive slow when ever I can, don't idle, try to stop at the top of hills and use the petal most of the time. I will say, I have two trailers one of them is all decked out with all the fuel mileage upgrades and the other has nothing. The trailer that is decked out gets 1 full MPG better than the plain trailer. Hope that helps you out.
Super singles are great for fuel economy due to less rolling resistance… until you pop one of those. Duals lets you limp your rig and saves your rim from being bent.
Great video we are a like do you now that if you run a wrong spec truck in front of a box van mean that the truck is lower than the trailer you are paying $3000 more per year in fuel so spec a truck for write work is so important
Thank you. I need to make a video of that trailer now, I've got it all decked out. After the improvements I picked up 8 tenths to a full MPG. Thanks for watching.
Is it worth it to have your own trailer at landstar I plan on coming over and the route I want to run is around Southern California and maybe Arizona Vegas just trying to debate on if I should invest into a trailer or just use Landstar trailer thanks great videos
I'm not sure, it depends on how much drop and hook you plan to do. I'm not leased to landstar, I'm a preferred carrier. I think you would be better off with your own trailer. I own 2 trailers, one is completely decked out with full skirts, wheel covers and trailer tail. The other trailer is bare bones, I get about 1 mpg better with the aerodynamic trailer.
While you were talking about all the different things you are going to do to your truck to get better gas mileage, I was thinking to myself, if Moe was still living, he would be so proud of you....Great video....later Johnny 🙂
Good!
Inflate your tires with nitrogen. Its lighter than air
😂🙄
That was a thing for awhile but, it quickly went away.
I can dig ur mindset
Thanks!
Sounds like you ought to open a huge truck stop in LA and rake in the bucks. I couldn’t stand to live there, but I’d pay someone to run it.
The traffic is crazy but, you can't beat the weather!!!

That's true. I don't like messing with all that used oil, it will be nice to take a sample, spin on a new filter and go.
Be safe there! Spent the night there before myself... not the best place then. Good way of killing your down time
I hear ya. I'm going to run around much after dark.

It all adds up with lots of miles, its like compound interest.
Very interesting. Great ideas that I would have never thought of. Best of luck!
Thank you.
Thank you for all the good advice.
You're Welcome!
You the man Johnny, truck safe brother, Merry Christmas to you and your family
You the man!!! Merry Christmas to you and the little man.
Thank you. Great videos. Got a 2012 T700 mx super light truck but terrible fuel mileage 5.4 loaded 7.0 empty. Will try some of your mods

Hey, I watched the whole thing and I didn't want to kill myself! Pretty interesting!
Thanks!

That's true. I've ran them for a long time and had really good luck with them.

Thanks! This has been a good truck, during the summer I was averaging over 10mpg for 90 days.
John when run from Indiana to Ca you drive thru the mountains ??
Not on this trip but, if I start in Salt lake city I go though Wyoming, Nevada and Donner Pass in California.
@@jptransport8830 I heard Donner pass is a pickle !! Lol
@@jerrychristensen9219 I'm sure it is when it's covered in snow!
I believe you would enjoy a book called atomic habits
I will look that up!
Those tires look to me like Michelin model XGV 75-R14's. Identical!
Is that from My cousin Vinny?
@@jptransport8830, yes!
@@elizabethjones6701 I thought so. I bet I'm one of the only people on this earth that would know that.
From the metallic mint green 1964 Buick skylark. Which did not come with posi track. For that you have to look to the 63’ tempest. I love that movie.
@@ridgerunnerTN , I knew other people liked that movie!
I'm a process improvement person too. Just found your channel. Great content.

Ok good info thanks bro
Good vid, really gave me some ideas for my Cascadia!
Thanks! I've pretty much installed everything I was talking about, in the summer I was averaging over 10mpg. Now during the winter I'm still at 9.
👍
Thanks
So glad I found you! You are all about everything I believe in regarding trucking. Just subscribed. Hope you do more videos like this.
Sorry I just got back to you, I kinda got away from RUclips for a while. I hope all is well in trucking.

That's nice of you to say.😁 I was just telling Pam the other day, its a shame he's not here, he and Gib would love to fish together.
BTW, how much fuel do you save if you are following another truck?
Haha! I'm not sure, I try to keep A lot of distance between me and the person in front of me.
One tailgating ticket will wipe out a year of tailgating fuel savings ...
