Huion Kamvas 13 usb device not recognized fix

- I had this issue with a 2020 Kamvas 13 on a toshiba s55-b5280, but I had seen people with other laptop and tablet models having similar issues.
Every time I plug the tablet I get a "usb device not recognized" message. The huion app shows "device disconnected". The tablet works as a monitor but the pen doesn't work.
I installed a fresh copy of windows 10, installed all the drivers, changed the USB cable to other ports, plugged the additional red cable to the wall outlet to provide extra power and nothing worked.
I tried using the cable from my other tablet and didn't worked. The tablet works perfect on other computers so to me cable issues or tablet malfunction was not the issue, it has to be something with the computer.
I researched everywhere and couldn't find a solution. Then out of curiosity I used a USB extension cord to plug the black USB cable to the other side of the laptop without stretching the cable too much, and that worked, didn't even needed the extra juice from the red USB.
After I got it working I tried plugging it in again without the extension and it didn't worked. Plugged it back in with the extension and it's working flawlessly. I then tried using the included extension for the red USB cable and it worked with that one too.
Hope this video gets everyone out of the pinch. I was looking hope and thinking I would need to buy a new laptop.
* I want to make a correction. I said the computer had usb 3.0, those are usb 2.0 I don't know why I kept referring to them as 3.0
A typical day for huion users.....
1/ Pray
2/Connect device
3/Pray and pray......
unplug and go to sleep.
This is my 3rd tablet and I've had no issues so far. The issues are also on that one laptop. May be some compatability issues maybe? But from what I've read a lot of people have the same issue. I guess I got lucky lol

After reinstalling drivers and trying to use a usb extender, the only thing that actually worked for me was unplugging the cable that connects to the tablet and trying to plug it in upside down and then rightside up again. For some reason this fixed my issue and the huion tablet software recognized the tablet. Worth a try if nothing else is working

This is the problem of huion and other secondary brands, the overall quality is good but there are always some little issue
The super odd thing is that out of 6 computers in the house, it only happens with that computer. I did read a lot of people having the same issue, that's why I posted this video. Maybe it works for others too
I don't have extra usb extension so what I did was
Uninstalled current driver
Restarted
Turn of Windows Defender
Run the driver installee on "administration mode"
That's it! I hope this will work on others. 😊
Wasted half of the day trying different methods and this works for me.

Finals are due in 2 days! I took my tablet to class (didn't even use it bc they lock up the backs for the pc's at school so no way to plug in the HDMI) I came back home and this problem came up. Thankfully I had the extension cord already so i got it to work right away! super appreciate your help on this issue!
At this point I'm convinced it's some sort of power consumption issue and the extension helps balance it somehow

Just one tip, I unplugged my usb cable suddenly without closing my Huion Pentab app and after that when I tried to use it by plugging again I had started facing this issue. So better close the application before unplugging the usb cable if you need to. I have noted it now for me 😇

The exact opposite thing just happened to me. I was using the red extension cable and didn't have any kind of problem for months. Now all of a sudden sometimes I get the usb device not recognized message and it stops working. After watching your video I tried to plug the cable directly in and now it works...might stop working tomorrow though, so we'll see.
Tbh I regret buying this tablet, so many random unexplainable issues that can pop out of nowhere and force you to deal with them instead of doing whatever you were supposed to do
I honestly haven't had any issues with any. I have 3 kids and each have their own tablet. So far that was the only one having issues and I don't remember if I tried another tablet in that laptop, might be the laptop and not the tablet. I will try that and if that's the issue I'll post another video.

Dude, I just unplugged the hdmi cable and plugged in again and now my tablet is connected and my pen works, WTF??? I was so frustrated today, installed new driver, disabled the sleep mode etc and messing with the cables, and this one simple thing finally worked 🥲 thank you for this video and showing how else to try with these cables. Wtf, why this has to be so problematic 😅
No tengo idea cómo, pero conectar un cable extensor usb (macho-hembra) entre el computador y el cable del tablet solucionó el problema para mí. Te pasaste capo, yo ya me hacía la idea de tener que comprar un tablet nuevo.

Thank you so much, I only have this problem on my Mac. It works perfectly on my desktop without the need of the extension cord but on the Mac I have to plug the power for the Mac and the tablet and the HDMI on one extension and the USB on a separate outlet on my Mac. Thanks for the advice. Much appreciate it!

re-installing drivers fixed it for me, tablet fully plugged in the pc then unistalled and installed drivers again
Four years. Four years did I spend with issues on this tablet to the point where I stopped enjoying drawing. I eventually bought myself a Surface Pro 9 last year to continue my drawing on.
And I come across this video to give it a shot and you fixed all my problems 😭😭😭

My problem was missing drivers on my laptops, they were probably knocked out in a windows update as it was working fine before hand. I got both my laptops working with my GT221 pro tablet after months of problems and rubbish tech support from Huion who could only say it was cables, it was my computers ports, it was my graphics tablet, you have put the battery in the pen the wrong way (I hadn't) I even sent them a video of the issues and the still couldn't come up with anything better. Downloaded Driver Easy, I plugged my Huion graphics tablet in and then ran the scan even though it wasn't working. The scan picked up that there were 19 drivers missing on my laptop including one for my graphics card and one for my Huion. I did the driver downloads and install and it now works. This isn't a spam post for software I am only telling you how I fixed mine as my tablet is a tool of my trade as you will see from my You Tube channel. The software does have a free version. too but it is very slow.
I tried that, tried different driver softwares including the aforementioned to no avail. Like I mentioned, I even did a full disk format and a fresh install of windows and it still didn't worked, but with the USB extension it did for some reason.
@@dragonjerod I hope you find a fix for yours, I guess I was lucky it fixed mine. It is an expensive desk ornament otherwise.
I just found out that I just have to switch the multiple display settings from "show only one" to "extend these displays".

for me i uninstalled the huin drivers then replugged the tablet it worked and now im reinstalling the drivers

I had this problem and solved it by changing my huion cable with another connector/USB cable type c where you usually use it for charging phones, i didn't have to buy usb extension haha.
Huion's odd- I love their tablet but they do have these glitches.
I also noticed you can't play Origin games or launch RPG maker MV. The tablet worked for like- 4 years for me and now just suddenly started doing this. Thanks for the tutorial, it's a bummer there's no better fix but this is a great temp fix until I get a new computer-!

I think it's a power issue with the computer and the extension maybe helps balance the load. I have 3 tablets, same model, and none work on this laptop unless I use the extension. All 3 work perfectly fine on any other computer, even on older laptops.

what worked for me: unninstall the driver; turn off the windows defender; then, install the latest version of the driver.
But, even though, when i moved the pen, the cursor just showed in my notebook. What i did was:
turn off the hdmi cable, not the usb; the driver will recognize, but just as a pen tablet; turn on the hdmi cable again; then, don't use your pen (if you use it, it'll disappear again). Guide yourself with the mouse or touchpad, in huion driver, go to > pen display > working area > and you'll see that the wrong monitor is selected. Just select the other monitor and boom! Solved.
After updating the driver to version 15, problems began with many Kamvas models. My daughter has 22 plus. And the program also does not see it. Here I am suffering, looking for how to fix it. One thing I don't understand is why it was necessary to release a new version of the driver if it doesn't work correctly? Everything worked on the old one.
I remember trying different drivers but I don't remember how far back I went. That'll be an interesting test.

But now mouse mode doesn’t work. Damn I gotta stop dropping my pen tablet on ther floor by accident

I had a similar problem on Kamvas 24 plus, turned out to be the USB-C on the Monitor/Tablet side has a Side to work, which is weird since all USB-C are meant to work both sides equally, but is not the case..

@@rachohelmutjacoby2452 Sure, my problem was the USB-C connected to the screen, was 'flipped', I know it sounds stupid conspiring USB-C should work any side you plug ( up or down direction, unlike most USB ) , but on my HUION the USB-C had a 'side up' to work, which I didn't know.. Before I flipped the USB-C, The computer kept rejecting the USB as a 'non recognized device', until I flipped the USB-C and worked. I think SOME USB-C are not built to work both sides. I had the same problem with another USB-C on my Nintendo switch, is Funny but it is what it is.

My PC couldn't recognize my tablet after I switched my case on a new one. Maybe this error occures when something wrong with the port itself, like some sort of short circuit somewhere, or it magneticly interfiers with tablet via cable without extension? I really don't know. Even my front panel didn't work without extension.

@@bootybandit1096 there are many ways that you could fix this, could you explain me more about your tablet and your issue. Also do you hear the windows sound when the cable plugs in your pc?
@@bootybandit1096 Welp I will guess that your table model is the same as the video, if you still have the manual guide check it out search for the drivers is the main thing u should look for, when connecting the tablet must check if ur pc is reading it if not update your pc. I fix mine by searching models reinstalling the drivers
Suddenly my pc stopped to recognize the kanvas usb, and all I got is usb unknown device don't matters cable, drive or something else, o tried everything and now IDK what I can do to solve this, ou have a kanvas 22 pro

@@guts6310 try maybe a different usb port, or try connecting using power from a wall charger. I've read that sometimes the cables go bad. In my case, I had 3 tablets and 3 cables and 5 computers and it was only on the one in the video that it wasn't working

Make sure the black USB and the HDMI are the only cords plugged into your computer.
My fiance had both or just the red usb plugged in my desktop and it had caused my pen not to work. Unplugged the red USB and plugged the black one in and the problem was fixed.
Mine is different. It stsrted to act as if the HDMI isnt working, even though i have used it on this device before.
lol for me i had it stuck in the 3.1 port and it worked when i use the cable to the usb 3.0 on my computer it worked. im thinking the laptop us using a 2.0 or maby even a 3.1 and sense the tablet is using a 3.0 system. it works only for a 3.0.
That's what I thought as well, that it had to do with the USB version

If the tablet is lighting up when connected with a wire but the computer does not detect anything, what would be the problem?
Have you tried plugging both wires? If a single usb is not passing enough power you need the second usb

@@dragonjerod no I discovered another way bro. I'm using huion inspiron h950. I didnt download a new one I just uninstalled it then the tablet worked without my customization then I reinstall the same file I uninstalled and till now I've gained peace.

Behavior-wise it was the same issue. I did try another cable. And like I said, the tablet and cable worked perfectly in two other computers. It had no issues at all except on that specific computer. Have you tried a different computer?
@@dragonjerod yeah, even took it to a tablet repair shop and they had no clue how to fix it either, theytried reflashing it and all sorts.
@@nicholasrgreen4169 I think it's an issue with the USB in the computer. I used to have problems with an old phone too, only with that one phone in the same laptop, it would connect fine to other laptops, but not this one. I don't understand how the USB extension makes it work, it makes no sense to me, but it does.

@@nicholasrgreen4169 the red one came with the tablet. The black one was I had it in a box with other cables, I think it was from a Webcam. If you search for usb extension in amazon there's a lot for under $3, one of them might work.
I accidentally put the red usb cable in my laptop which was suppose to put in a power adapter when there is not enough power in the laptop to supply to the kamvas, i put the black usb cable in the laptop and now everything works.

I don't know if it's an actual solution or if it works on other models/versions. I found that by accident and worked consistently so I figure let me post it in case it works for someone else. Based on what I've read other models have similar issues so I would guess it works. It's a cheap cable though so won't hurt much to try
Didn't work for me. Works on every other computer in my home but mine.
I wonder if it's an issue with usb 1.0 vs 2.0
I'm telling you I've tried everything and nothing worked and this works every time and I wasn't even expecting this, I just needed to extend the cable so it would reach the other side of the laptop
@@dragonjerod I mean at the end of the day the issue is the software. Using my wife's wacom now and unsurprisingly it works like a charm.
