At the same price - 80k to 80k, I'd take the Raptor mainly because of the better suspension setup. However, more practically, you can take an XLT F150 and build it mechanically to the spec of the Roush F150 for a little over 50k including the purchase price of the truck. The Fox 2.0 can be had for around $1,100 (skip the Roush version, they are identical), the supercharger for $7,700, and the exhaust for $1,000 to $1,800. So at a little over $50k for a Roushified F150 and $60k for barebones Raptor, I think the power, sound, money saved, and ability to have extra bed length might sway me to the Roush truck living in the Northeast where there just aren't a whole lot of places to let a Raptor stretch it's legs. If I lived in California, Utah, or Colorado and had desert and trails to let these things fly on, I'd take the Raptor. I've got the Fox 2.0 setup all the way around on my truck, it's a decent system, but it's not a huge night and day difference over stock, particularly running really beat up dirt roads at speed. The biggest difference I found with the Fox 2.0 honestly is actually on the street, cruising through the Adirondacks, the truck is really planted and handles really well. Now I only have a small amount of time in a Gen 1 Raptor, but I can say hands down, the ride is way more comfortable in the Raptor then on the Fox 2.0 setup.
Forgot to add that Installation by Certified Ford Dealership in order to be able to purchase Roush Warranty on $7.8K Supercharger is around $2K and warranty from Roush for $3/36,000 is another $995 as of right now.
Even with the extra 3k for labor and warranty, an XLT F150 with the roush parts still undercuts a Raptor by a bit. At the end of the day it all depends on what you are going to use the truck for and what you prioritize. If you want the big V8 noise and shove and wont be bombing through the desert, the Roush add-ons aren't a bad option. Personally, I could leave all the plastic crap Roush puts all over the truck. After a couple thousand miles on the Fox 2.0s I'd even say unless you really want a level, save the cash and put it towards the supercharger. I’m betting that stopping distance from the stock F-150 XLT to the Roush conversion has increased noticeably(probably 15-30ft overall)! But then again, what do I know, I’m just a keyboard jockey here(maybe)!

I think most people forget (or don't know) that you can really have the best of both worlds. This is what I would do: Buy the Roush S/c. Buy aftermarket carbon fiber fenders +3 or 4 inches (not fiberglass). This alone will give you the wider look of a raptor. Upgrade to Led headlights from theretrofitresource. Then upgrade your suspension setup to icons/foxs/kings. You'll have a better suspension setup than a factory raptor. So you'll have a truck that outperforms a factory raptor in every department without the raptor name.. . Easy decision for myself. Roush all day.
This comparison is not legit in my mind. Both Ford F-150 have been modified once. A stock F-150 is modified by Roush and a stock F-150 is modified by Ford into a Raptor. The comparison should be between a Stock Roush and Stock Raptor. Your Raptor then went to another set of modifications on top of what Ford did to turn an F-150 into a Raptor.
Make a long story short buy a 2014 Raptor because that's before FORD got the bright idea putting a 6 cylinder engine in them. One day I was walking into Marshall's department store and there was a guy with a 2014 Raptor parked near the entrance. I went inside to shop around for a few minutes and I could still hear the engine grumble and purr from inside the store. Just an awesome piece of machinery!!
Would be cool to see stock for stock but sounds and drivetrain from Roush into Raptor body would be best. They took the idea of what Roush had been doing for years to finally compete with the TRX in power and created the Raptor R with the GT500 motor🔥 Like you said, nothing like a SC V8.
I'd take my truck '18 f150 lariat sport full load, magnetic 5.0, Bds 4inch DSC Fox 2.5s, 35 falkens 18inch Fuel Vectors, Diamondback truck cover! Also it's debadged and no graphics!
I said that too. But then when I got the chance I traded in my 2018 F-150 for the 2018 Raptor. It was a 2018 Platinum 5.0 Fx4 (fully loaded), and I added Fox 2.0 Coilovers in the front, Fox 2.0 shocks in the rear, with 20x10 -19 Hostile Alphas, on 33” Falken Wildpeak At3w’s. It had a Cold Air intake in it too. With only 13k miles on it. And I must say it was the best decision I’ve made.
I’ve owned both of these vehicles and you are 100% right the raptor far exceeds the quality of the Roush . The Roush always seemed kind of cheap and cheesy to me and I only kept in about six months I was so disappointed in it. The supercharged 5.0 V8 in this truck was unimpressive to say the least I felt that the raptor although only a V-6 had enough power for what you needed for on the truck. Oh yeah forgot to mention my wife had the Rauch pick up that was non-supercharged and the build quality was far superior to the supercharged version I don’t know why that would be. Her truck actually sounds better to I was one of the complaints I had at the dealer when I picked up mine they just wasn’t as loud and rumbly as my wife’s truck.
Love the sound of the supercharge over the turbo personally but I would drive either but not off road much in a new truck think I wanna buy a baseline V8 and do my own mods
2019 raptor supercrew here so I’m a bit biased. My ‘12 with the 5.0L coyote V8 and a little mod to the exhausts- pretty much sounds like that Rousch- granted it may be a tad slower weighing in at just under 6200 lbs
cl m face it Raptor rules the street and Baja but..... it ain’t for hauling or towing and good luck getting it in the garage. Then there is the California dealers who think that it is appropriate to try and tack on an extra $10,000
Does the raptor tow anything like a nice big boat or trailer and what about payload? 98%of people wont take the raptor offroad so can it do any work or does it just look pretty?
So Justin, I see you have a raptor and my question is. Have you ever made a video on if a raptor is worth the difference in price point vs the other 3.5 Ecoboost F150's? I'm stuck between a nicer standard F150 or saving up more and just getting a raptor. I don't tow anything around anymore. So it would be a truck for the weekends and to haul dirt bikes. Thank you!
Well having owning both I traded my 2018 Roush SC150 for a 2020 F150 802A Raptor and I am very happy with the decision. At first I thought the Roush F150 was something I was going to love and yes the HP and take off with the exhaust was awesome but I took them offroading and you can't beat the Raptor in a Rockcrawl or Baja mode. Its just not the same with holding its value as well so just a heads up on ever owning a Roush F150 SC, it will depreciate quicker because its a stock XLT Model with the Roush upgrades compared to a Stock F150 Raptor.
The Rouch truck is nice but for over $80,000 you get stock non LED headlights, stock cheap breaks and smaller basic dash doesn't seems like a really good deal..... But the supercharger is killer!!
I do like the simplicity of the roush and the v8 sound. However, the suspension and overall aesthetic of the raptor is just mint. I’m going with raptor in my opinion.
Great vid. I’m deciding on which one I want to buy it’s a tough choice. Too bad the Roush raptor still has the eco boost motor. The V8 is the better motor. Love that sound of the supercharger and exhaust!!!!
Raptor 100%. Yes, my 17 Raptor sounds like a pissed off lawn mower but thats all the other guy will hear while they are trying to catch up and thats funny in itself.
@@bimochi I hope youre not serious. Ive run Roush built raptors, Roush f150s and procharged Raptors in the dunes plenty of times and none of them could keep up with my Raptor.
Both are nice but the Raptor definitely looks better and the mods are insane. Those breaks are killer. I guess the next thing is the VelociRaptor by Hennessey.
I have a 2018 Roush F150 and it is bad a$$! I have the Lariat base so it includes the LED wrapped headlights, and all the comfort goodies on the inside. He is saying $83K for a lower based truck which in his area may be the case, but around here you can get the Lariat with SC for the money he is talking. All in all, I'll take the Roush. Not as many out there and let's face it, who the heck is going to race in the Baja...
I know I'm late to the game on comments to this video but do you have the dimensions of both trucks ? I appreciated the red lines showing the difference, but would love to know the actual measurements. I have a 17 Roush F150 and thinking of "upgrading" to a Raptor but I also want it to fin in my garage...Thanks!
Ford needs to put a 5.4 back in the Raptors . But with head that doesn't spit out the spark plugs. I had a 1997 f150 with 220,000 on it before it spit out a spark plug. I owned that truck for 14 years, and then sold it to my son. He love's that truck .
I love the look of the Raptor. And I like the off road capability. But there are some issues for me that would make me take the f-150 over the Raptor. Size. Off road (like when hunting per say) having a truck that wide is just going to get all the paint eaten off and it will be harder to fit in tight places. Now the F-150 is still large and harder to fit than a smaller Tacoma for example. But it is still smaller. The engine. The Eco boost sounds like SHIT to start off. Nothing kills the appearance more than seeing a big, aggressive, fast truck that sounds like a Honda Civic regardless of what exhaust you have on it. Also the turbo'd aspect makes it a little less reliable than a supercharger. This also gets in to how you achieve those torque and HP numbers. With the eco boost you don't get to see those awesome specs if you aren't giving it plenty of gas. The turbos have to be pretty spooled up and into the higher RPM ranges. RIP your gas milage. Your standard 5.0 will make better power across the curve with better gas milage than the eco boost.
You raise a couple of good points up top in regards to size and sound, however I have to disagree with your final thoughts. You act as though turbo's are some new 'untested' technology in regards to reliability and that's just simply not true. Not only has Ford been using them successfully for the last decade or so with their gasser trucks, Diesel applications date back even further with fantastic long term reliability. In fact their far more common in practical, every day situations compared to a roots style blower. Secondly the power to pedal input argument is silly- both trucks require a good amount of throttle input to see 'advertised' numbers and in our testing the Ecoboost actually achieves far better mileage compared to the supercharged V8 (despite the larger tires)- which really shouldn't be too shocking to anyone with basic automotive comprehension. Either way, thanks for chiming in and glad you enjoyed the video! -Justin
@@americantrucks I appreciate the response. I know turbos are tested and I'm not trying to come off as if they're basically an engine detonator. But a naturally aspirated V8 built right will rub longer than a turbo'd v6 as a rule. Tho you're right it's probably not as bad as I think. And I could be wrong about the power too. Most of what I know is from a more limited amount of research. I was just sharing my thoughts :)
Roush is way overpriced! I'd Take the Raptor. Although, I will be taking my 2017 F-150, Lariat, 5.0 and supercharging with the Wipple and putting on the FOX 2.0's and Raptor wheels and calling it the day.
Like he said, it's not Roush's fault. They take what you give them and add whatever options you want. You also have to remember that a large part of the Roush price is the markup of both the dealer & Ford of the project truck. So it is not really an apples to apples comparison.
Great video. Raptor looks better for sure but he laughed three times driving the Rousch. The choice is clear - Hennessey Velocirapror and throw cost out the window if you want it all.
snakestube actually ended up selling it and buying a used Roush f-150 SC. The raptor was financed new for 78,000. Payment was 1100 for 84months at 4.76
Definitely! You can make an F50 look pretty darn close to a normal Raptor these days with the use of aftermarket bumpers and grilles, but without those wide baja-style fenders they don't come too close. Thanks for watching! -Zach
The Raptor is the overall better "total" package. That being said I wish somebody with the money to burn would put the Predator motor in the raptor with the wide body raptor kit, lengthened control arms, through bed shock system, et cet., et cet..
The problem with the raptor is it’s a 2015 front end and a V6. Roush is hard to justify when you can get an stx with bench seat and add their supercharger and have a better truck than either for under 50 grand.
Doesn't matter how hard your sell the Rousch, S.C. and exhaust note. The Raptor still is leaps and bounds the better truck. You know it and most here do aswell.
I got rid of my raptor just because the exhaust note was lame. But the other truck felt cheapo inside I just didn’t like it I don’t know what it was about that truck and start having problems almost immediately with the electrical system in the truck I would never buy another Roush product. And I’ve had three to pick ups and a Mustang. Stage 3
Supercharged Roush it usually runs more then Raptor. It all depends what Base Truck you use to build it. I used 2017 Lariat with 502A Chasis (all options) and my truck was $86K before Ford Sales/Injectives and little bit of dealing. After all was done I paid $75K out the door for my after Rebate and another $3K off. Price of the truck in this video is before any current Sales/Injectives that Ford might have for F150's right now
my brother was going to a Toyota dealer to see a Tundra and he drove by a Ford dealer and his wife got in love with a Red Raptor 73k almost 14 k over his budget but he bought it
I have a 2017 ford f-150 lariat, soon it will be turned into a pre runner, I know the headlights I will get, but I can’t decide on the rims and the taillights, can anyone help me to decide what is the best rim and taillight?
A bit one sided, a stock Roush F150 compared to a Raptor with $10k plus of personal additions. Also, I like your videos but how do you expect to be objective when you own and modified the Raptor. ;)

Then upgrade your suspension setup to icons/foxs/kings. You'll have a better suspension setup than a factory raptor.
So you'll have a truck that outperforms a factory raptor in every department without the raptor name.. . Easy decision for myself. Roush all day.
These videos are awesome! deserves more views
Thank you so much for the feedback! -Zach
Love that Roush, I would probably have a stock Raptor though.
Joseph Whiskey Beale and then you’d get beat by the roush
Schmidtygt 500 Life is not a competition....
@@schmidtygt and then you take a short cut off road and win.
Fucken crazy $ 80,000 thousand dollars for a truck.
@@schmidtygt Get beat how? Why would I try to race somebody? I'm in a raptor, I'm going low and slow offroading
Great video. Love the side by side comparison. Now i want a supercharger....
They took the idea of what Roush had been doing for years to finally compete with the TRX in power and created the Raptor R with the GT500 motor🔥
Like you said, nothing like a SC V8.
I'd take my truck '18 f150 lariat sport full load, magnetic 5.0, Bds 4inch DSC Fox 2.5s, 35 falkens 18inch Fuel Vectors, Diamondback truck cover! Also it's debadged and no graphics!
Though I do want a VMP supercharger once my warranty is done
Id love to see pics of your truck.
tried and true nope at 120kmh I rev around 1650, the new 10 speed is awesome!
I see a v8 swap in your future, wrecked GT350 engine in a raptor OMG
A high revving track focused v8 in a truck? Worthless.
ZaneMasterX Well it would be the best sounding truck, but you’re right
@jds o your right, I'm talking down the line
As Raptor Gen 1 guy I love the V8 but Justin's Raptor I would still take over that Roush. Can AT donate a SC for my 6.2? :)
Love the sound of the supercharge over the turbo personally but I would drive either but not off road much in a new truck think I wanna buy a baseline V8 and do my own mods
Thanks for watching! -Zach

sh0cktim3 thanks! Wasn’t easy in Cali. Dealers literally laughed when I asked them if I can order one at MSRP. I knew I would find one that was down.
Yessir! And your value won't plummet like a Roush terd in a toilet. If you need a charged v8, get a Gen 1 Rapty.
Jamie Potter true. I got a new raptor because all the used ones were going for more than the new I got. Lol. Raptor’s hold their value well.
My ‘12 with the 5.0L coyote V8 and a little mod to the exhausts- pretty much sounds like that Rousch- granted it may be a tad slower weighing in at just under 6200 lbs
All I can say is F-150 KING OF TRUCKS..PERIOD.
F-150 KING OF TRUCKS well hello there’s nice to meet you again🤣
@@TecDLogic you 2 logic.
@@TecDLogic I swear i've seen this guy in atleast 12 other truck videos lol
I see Raptors all the time. Hardly ever see Roush trucks. I took the Roush SC. Plus it fits in my 2 car garage.
I probably shouldn’t admit this, but I literally passed this truck while watching this video!
If ur doing more hauling....F150. If not, Raptor all day.
cl m face it Raptor rules the street and Baja but..... it ain’t for hauling or towing and good luck getting it in the garage. Then there is the California dealers who think that it is appropriate to try and tack on an extra $10,000
Roush Raptor Roush Raptor Roush Raptor oh heck I’ll take both!
Does the raptor tow anything like a nice big boat or trailer and what about payload? 98%of people wont take the raptor offroad so can it do any work or does it just look pretty?
I've towed my drag car in a 24' enclosed trailer with it, and while it handled the task I wouldn't make a habit out of it. -Justin
“The biggest thing is the headlights”??
😂
Honestly my 2 cents:
If it were a weekend truck for shits and giggles- Raptor
If it were a daily that I drove to work in, towed, etc- Roush
I’ve had both trucks and I hate to say it but I like to my Roush better sorry I ever got rid of it looking to buy a new one now.
finally justin is back
The Rouch truck is nice but for over $80,000 you get stock non LED headlights, stock cheap breaks and smaller basic dash doesn't seems like a really good deal..... But the supercharger is killer!!
I have a Roush Raptor V8. The perfect combination of both
Big engine in bad ass Raptor. Best of both worlds.
Your raptor is badass period.
I do like the simplicity of the roush and the v8 sound. However, the suspension and overall aesthetic of the raptor is just mint. I’m going with raptor in my opinion.
Good choice! :) -Justin
No contest, twin turbo Raptor. All day long!
Great vid. I’m deciding on which one I want to buy it’s a tough choice. Too bad the Roush raptor still has the eco boost motor. The V8 is the better motor. Love that sound of the supercharger and exhaust!!!!
You could always look at a first generation Raptor with the 6.2L and build that! Decisions decisions. 😁 -Zach
Your raptor w/out upgrade is 70k how much the upgrade cost then compare agian with Roush?
Raptor 100%. Yes, my 17 Raptor sounds like a pissed off lawn mower but thats all the other guy will hear while they are trying to catch up and thats funny in itself.
You wouldn't come close to beating Roush no raptors have come close buttercup 😂
@@bimochi I hope youre not serious. Ive run Roush built raptors, Roush f150s and procharged Raptors in the dunes plenty of times and none of them could keep up with my Raptor.
@@StyfeLife haha and I'm a billionaire 😘
If there's something for a guy that can't be replaced is the sound of a V8 at full trotle, especially if it is supercharged or turbo
What would the raptor set up cost for the xlt set up
Both are nice but the Raptor definitely looks better and the mods are insane.
I’m looking to buy the same one as yours with 36k miles on it. They are asking 60k, good deal you think?
@@hgyasi11 If it has the ROUSH supercharger then that is probably about right for a 2018.
Roush SC all day! Supercharged 5.0.....I would kill to get my 2020 FX4 Lariat done by Roush.
Rousch all day, V8 and sleeper cosmetics.
Holy crap them pretty trucks
What about reliability at that point?
Alan The Salamander on a conservative tune, these coyotes can go 100k miles blown with no issues
Muscle Everyday I want to buy a lariat f-150. Id go with the 3.5 tho, and then maybe add a tune to compete with a boosted 5.0
Well said!
you got an IG, any photos?
I think it depends what you really want out your truck.
Good on-road with Awesome off-road - Modify Raptor
Awesome on-road with Good off-road - Roush
I am confused- is the raptor stock or mortified? The roush is stock and your raptor has all the extras
Would it make any difference if you were comparing a 2020 Roush F-150 Lariat w/out SC engine to the Raptor?
He’s comparing 80k trucks and im over here with my f150 2015 bc im a broke college student, so i gotta live my raptor experience through him 🤣🤣🙏🏻
You need to compare your custom raptor to at least a lariat Roush. Not an XLT.
I just bought a 2020 f150 black ops and its getting the Roush supercharger installed. Ill be at about $95k when its all done.
Whats the lift set up on the raptor?
I’ve had both in the Roush wins hands-down!
yup
15:06...the smile says it all! V8 trucks all day!
Raptor!!!! No Contest!!! Roush is getting sloppy. Looks like a work truck with a whole lot of vinyl...
Like he said, it's not Roush's fault. They take what you give them and add whatever options you want. You also have to remember that a large part of the Roush price is the markup of both the dealer & Ford of the project truck. So it is not really an apples to apples comparison.
I take the raptor hands down
Awsome video
Great video. Raptor looks better for sure but he laughed three times driving the Rousch. The choice is clear - Hennessey Velocirapror and throw cost out the window if you want it all.
Love both trucks, but it’s all about that V8 power train.
Are the roush fender flares available?
Why yes! Yes there are! -Zach
www.americantrucks.com/roush-fender-flares-1517-excluding-raptor.html
That raptor modded the way it is has to be closer to 100k!!! I have a 2018 raptor with every possible upgrade and paid 77k.
Philip Hahner did you buy it or financed and if Financed how much do you pay monthly..I just want to get one
snakestube actually ended up selling it and buying a used Roush f-150 SC. The raptor was financed new for 78,000. Payment was 1100 for 84months at 4.76
Philip Hahner how’s your mpg with the Roush F-150? I’m thinking about the same switch.
Ford, PLEASE bring the V8 back to the Raptor!
They're going to next model year supposedly in 2020
The raptor is the meanest f150 period. The fenders set it apart from the rest.
Raptor Gen2 my love
Raptor is Raptor the beast
BTW love the Raptor Justin
The only thing this video did was make me want a Raptor with the Roush Supercharged 5.0 V8. If only...why Ford, Why?
Would love to have the roush engine in a raptors body!!!
As would a lot of other people! Haha thanks for watching! -Zach
Wait till this guy finds out about the Roush Raptor
The problem with the raptor is it’s a 2015 front end and a V6. Roush is hard to justify when you can get an stx with bench seat and add their supercharger and have a better truck than either for under 50 grand.
I would choose the roush f150, the raptor is fun but I believe it's not a work truck
Truth is, its cheaper to buy the base model and supercharge it, than it is to buy the top end model. Same goes with Mustangs.
Doesn't matter how hard your sell the Rousch, S.C. and exhaust note. The Raptor still is leaps and bounds the better truck. You know it and most here do aswell.
Raptor 24/7✌️😁
Any idea where we can get those American flag stickers that are on the rear of the Roush? I'll take those over my 4x4's.
Those are a roush add on
I’m taking the raptor all day!
Raptor for sure
I got rid of my raptor just because the exhaust note was lame. But the other truck felt cheapo inside I just didn’t like it I don’t know what it was about that truck and start having problems almost immediately with the electrical system in the truck I would never buy another Roush product. And I’ve had three to pick ups and a Mustang. Stage 3
The Roush cost less. Your pricing is off.
Price of the truck in this video is before any current Sales/Injectives that Ford might have for F150's right now
I bought a 2017 XLT Roush SC with 45,000km's (28,000miles) for $57,000 Can$ ($45,000Amer$)
Both nice trucks....but the Raptor anyday.....I wouldn't turn down the Rousch though....👍
Well said! -Justin
even if the raptor has active exhaust, its still not gonna sound good
my brother was going to a Toyota dealer to see a Tundra and he drove by a Ford dealer and his wife got in love with a Red Raptor 73k almost 14 k over his budget but he bought it

I have a 2017 ford f-150 lariat, soon it will be turned into a pre runner, I know the headlights I will get, but I can’t decide on the rims and the taillights, can anyone help me to decide what is the best rim and taillight?
Collin McKinney what do you mean by real prerunner? I will turn it and it may cost around 200k AED (UAE currency) maybe even more (around 54k $)
Collin McKinney no I will make my truck more wider than the raptor
Collin McKinney man, method wheels are everywhere in my country, I want other rims, do you have any other suggestion about rims?
Collin McKinney thanks for the help
A bit one sided, a stock Roush F150 compared to a Raptor with $10k plus of personal additions. Also, I like your videos but how do you expect to be objective when you own and modified the Raptor. ;)
Umm SC V8 all day
The roush motor in the raptor 👌😛 period
Great video..
