Easy. Gen 3 Coyotes has more knock sensor bosses in the valley leaving less space for an intercooler core, hence all blowers were design inverted (rotors down, intercooler up) expect for roush. So it has an inefficient design pair with a very very very conservative tune. Power is just a small part of the equation. Transmission tuning and torque management also makes a huge difference. Throw that roush out put a Gen 5 Whipple or an Odin and bye bye TRX.

Yea, I saw a "750 hp" Shelby Super Snake F150 lose decisively to the much heavier TRX with "702 hp" on TFL. Unless both the super snake and Roush F150s are not making their claimed hp the TRX must be underrated.
A higher hp rating will make a causal person believe that vehicle is quicker. So I believe they underrated it to keep Ford from shooting for say 800hp if the TRX was rated at 797hp like a Redeye hellcat

In my experience, the modified Fords never actually perform like the power says it should be. For example, the Super Snake Mustang claims 825hp, but really feels like 650 at best. I knew the TRX was gonna win, Dodge did a great job on that truck. It actually makes the hp it's supposed to haha.

I know something had to be up. The Roush has a better power weight ratio being it weighs 1550 less and makes only 50 hp to the crank less than the TRX. If you subtract 1550 lbs from the trx curb weight, while subtracting 155 hp to the trx hp figures (to make it fair), the Roush should've won but it didn't. TRX weighing in at about the same as the Roush, now making 550 hp, vs the 650 in the Roush. It either doesn't put power down efficiently or Ford is underrating their numbers.
When I looked at the curb weight and pwr/weight I thought for sure the Roush F-150 was going to take it...TRX is in a whole different league. Impressive.
That Roush truck may just be a hair faster than a stock Gen 3 Raptor. The fact that the Ram weighs 1000 pounds more than than the Roush and still gaps by a country mile while being stock is quite an astonishing feat!
lll Gotten Gains no bro its the way they setup the trx to run. Did you see their math in the center console 😂. Its very well explained and under the hood more. But its the setup technically. From a dead stop the traction the perfect launch control button they have in it. The power. Awd etc the 8 speed. All that acheives better launch and to quarter mile times. If was a roll race say at 50 or something it wouldnt be the same it would lose it's potential from the wieght. Jeep trackhawks are the same launching they Will always be quick it potential is set for drag. Roll races isn't the same. But if you made more power than that changes 😂 for example some dudes channel i forgot their names. They had done a video from durango srt vs jeep srt and Lamborghini suv and did a dead stop race and the durango was the fastest followed by the jeep and then the lambo. But once they did some roll races the lambo would jump ahead but that extra small amount of power on the durango barely edged off the lambo.
Some dyno runs show the engine closer to the power of a hellcat (around 717 hp), so it's a little underrated. But a lot of it is transmission tuning + a good balanced rear end ratio + 4wd and big ass tires.

Someone actually used torque reserve!!! (That funny exhaust note on the TRX). You can build up to 4psi for launch but it’s finicky and pushes past the brakes around 3psi for me. Great runs and thank you Sam!!!

That Roush supercharger is the biggest factor in the race for sure. It is very inefficient. If the F-150 had a Whipple it would be a whole different situation. Props to the Ram for being as quick as it is stock though.

If you put the same whipple on a base f-150 it will absolutely walk the TRX. The TRX is no doubt a fast truck for being offroad capable. The base Raptor couldnt hang which is why the Raptor R was developed to dethrown it. It also accomplishes it with an even smaller 2.65L blower.

Wow, surprising. That 5.0 is tuned much too conservatively, this is about what I'd expect to see with a tune only NA 5.0 vs. a TRX. Realistically the Ford is probably only making 500hp @ the crank, it has so many other factors going it's way the power just has to be way overstated. The A10 and the street tires on the ford alone are a huge advantage, nevermind the F150 being 1500lb's lighter, that's the weight of an ATV trailer with two Sport Quads in it lol. Bolt-on/tune crew cab F150's have trapped 108-109, which is about what TRX's are doing......P.S. I'm a Mopar Guy, don't jump my bones guys, can't deny what a beast the 5.0/A10 is.

It's pretty simple really. The supercharger on the Roush is really an inefficient design. Different supercharger on the Ford and it will be a completely different result.
TRX also has much shorter gears. I ran one on the hwy here in TX from a 50 in my 14' Mustang GT. He held his own until I shifted into 3rd. Then I took him to gapplebees in 3rd and 4th! That TRX is a crazy fast truck for its size, but that Roush blown f-150 is trash on a factory tune and converter!!
Before I watch it I’m going to guess the Ford with it’s almost 2k pound lighter difference and almost comparable hp and tq is going g to smoke the trx. The TRX is quicker 0 to 60 by almost a half second in reviews I have seen even though it is rated pretty even to the Roush. Also this is a 21 TRX. The Shelby 21 is sporting 775 BHP. It should be a different race running two SC 21”s
The laws of physics says the vehicle with the better power/weight ratio will win. Ignoring these laws the heavy TRX still beats the Roush F150 disregarding physics all together.
I went into this thinking it would be the exact opposite outcome because of that reason alone. Looking at the power to weight I'm not sure how the TRX won.

Yeah, I think most of these aftermarket companies, Roush, Shelby, Henessey, overstate and hype power that they make, knew this was gonna happen. I couldn't quite tell what trim level the F150 was, but it definitely was not 4800lbs, that's the weight of a lower level Xlt, that sunroof alone adds over 200lbs, if it was a Lariat, it could be 5200lbs ish a Platinum or Limited are probably gonna be over 5500lbs, lighter than the TRX, but not as much as was shown.

The TRX is a beast only truck right now that can keep up to its little cousin the trackhawk in 0 to 60 times Ram says 4.5 but the TRX has been clocked at 3.5 sec and it's almost 1400lbs heavier than the trackhawk

Mopar has always underrated their HP for insurance purposes, Or does that really make a difference anymore.

Wow, surprising. That 5.0 is tuned much too conservatively, this is about what I'd expect to see with a tune only NA 5.0 vs. a TRX. Realistically the Ford is probably only making 500hp @ the crank, it has so many other factors going it's way the power just has to be way overstated. The A10 and the street tires on the ford alone are a huge advantage, nevermind the F150 being 1500lb's lighter, that's the weight of an ATV trailer with two Sport Quads in it lol. Bolt-on/tune crew cab F150's have trapped 108-109, which is about what TRX's are doing......P.S. I'm a Mopar Guy, don't jump my bones guys, can't deny what a beast the 5.0/A10 is.
I said the same thing I didn’t even hear the f-150 screaming the way they do between 6,000-7,700rpm. 500 crank could possibly touch high 12’s at thst eight with 10a. Somethin was off

There’s a race of the TRX vs that already. It’s a two door truck way lightee the TRX lost in the roll race but Ford better make the Raptor R really fast or it be a dud just like those modified f150s

It's pretty simple really. The supercharger on the Roush is really an inefficient design. Different supercharger on the Ford and it will be a completely different result.
TRX also has much shorter gears. I ran one on the hwy here in TX from a 50 in my 14' Mustang GT. He held his own until I shifted into 3rd. Then I took him to gapplebees in 3rd and 4th! That TRX is a crazy fast truck for its size, but that Roush blown f-150 is trash on a factory tune and converter!!
Before I watch it I’m going to guess the Ford with it’s almost 2k pound lighter difference and almost comparable hp and tq is going g to smoke the trx. But looks wise as their appearance today before a mods id take the trx

The TRX is quicker 0 to 60 by almost a half second in reviews I have seen even though it is rated pretty even to the Roush. Also this is a 21 TRX. The Shelby 21 is sporting 775 BHP. It should be a different race running two SC 21”s

Yeah, I think most of these aftermarket companies, Roush, Shelby, Henessey, overstate and hype power that they make, knew this was gonna happen. I couldn't quite tell what trim level the F150 was, but it definitely was not 4800lbs, that's the weight of a lower level Xlt, that sunroof alone adds over 200lbs, if it was a Lariat, it could be 5200lbs ish a Platinum or Limited are probably gonna be over 5500lbs, lighter than the TRX, but not as much as was shown.
@@garys2157 I don't know? Roush is pretty reputable and I suspect the TRX was modified or the ford had some issue, because that F150 could've been making 600 actual bhp and that TRX wouldn't have walked away from it like considering it was well over a 1000 pounds heavier than the ford!

That said, by the time we started filming, I could tell the supercharger heat soak was taking its toll on the Roush. We had a quick run before filming and we ran door to door. I was quite surprised once we got going how slow the truck was performing.

The TRX is a beast only truck right now that can keep up to its little cousin the trackhawk in 0 to 60 times Ram says 4.5 but the TRX has been clocked at 3.5 sec and it's almost 1400lbs heavier than the trackhawk
