Hello! Thank you to all that is viewing this video! I've been getting a lot of questions lately related to this video. I am not a formal pomade maker, I simply found a way to make a very easy one using three ingredients. I did however team up with a real pomade homebrewer to make a Joker themed pomade called clown prince. If you check some of my recent videos you can see more info about it or find it at my etsy shop while it's still in stock Joker themed hair pomade! www.etsy.com/shop/ModernManTV
if you are finding this video in January 2017 I have just uploaded a new video examining the brewing process of an unorthodox waterbased pomade as requested. Enjoy-ruclips.net/video/G8edhMs2LLc/видео.html
I made something very similar. I used beeswax, BTMS-50, hemp seed oil, cocoa butter, castor jelly and bentonite clay. The clay helps keep it matte. Just melt all ingredients and in the end add the clay and keep stirring. Stir until thicken and scoop into your container. Do not use a aluminum or metal container because it will deactivate the clay. Also it's best to use a thermometer and never let it go above 180 degrees. At around 90 degrees add the essential oils or fragrance oils.
@@disc_golfing_with_d It does hold pretty decent, it's a natural alternative to petroleum jelly. I sometimes use only lanolin and clay, and it rocks (my hair is thin and greasy).
Keep up the quality videos man, I've been really enjoying your videos these last few months. I really do believe that you will reach your goal this year. Good luck!

Awesome vid Mike, I'm from Canada and I've been really getting in to the pomade world lately. Coming from the salon type hair products and getting this would really help me expand my experience with the pomade world.

Awesome man!!!I tried making a small amount of pomade today thanks to this.prolly like 1 oz just to try it out.scented it with lavender essential oil which I added too much and now the whole place smells like lavender unless the jar is shut tightly
Hey Mike, I am tuning in from Atlanta, GA and I am a huge pomade enthusiast and have always thought about making my own. Thanks for the video and keep 'em coming.
My indredients beeswax, microwax, petroleum jelly, vco and oil dyes. Why there is some unmixed particle like water drop in oil (bottom area). Any idea?
Found out about your videos on EP and I enjoy your modern take on videos and also enjoy that you're not just set on pomade reviews only. It's always a pleasure watching your videos because you can genuinely see how excited you are and they fun you're having making these videos. Ps I'd love that prelude, I don't own a colab pomade yet.
Love your vids so much man looking forward to you next vids 😊, I'm watching this from New Zealand and in nz there is no good hair products for my hair or hair in general so I really need something decent to hold up my hair, thanks keep up the great work ☺️
Thanks! I just wanted to make something easy and functional. It really doesn't compare to the real homebrewers but it does make you appreciate their craft.
Hey brother! I watch a bunch of different pomade reviewers, and I happened to find your channel today. I LOVE that you released this video because all the other DIY pomade videos aren't good in my opinion. I was extremely surprised that you are barely at 2k subs because I can tell from the 5 videos I've watched that you have high-quality content. The production and editing of your videos reminds me of Gary G from WesternGent because the two of you mix in awesome music with an engaging personality. I wish you the best, and I can safely say that you're already ahead of the many other reviewers I watch in terms of quality. Lastly, that would be AWESOME if you could do a tutorial on how to do unorthodox pomades because I can't find anything on how to make them online.
that's the point, you're not supposed to wash out a wax based pomade, quite the opposite - you're supposed to build it up in you hair, and after you build it up, merely replace the bit that got washed off whenever you style your hair in the morning. Classic pomade is a requires you to commit to a certain style for a while. Stick to water soluble stuff if that bothers you.
Hey man! Great video! I live in Coventry, Rhode Island and have been using pomades for a little over a year. That being said, I've never tried a clay pomade. I've heard awesome things about Prelude, and I'd like to really try this stuff out! Thanks man! Keep making videos dude
Such a quality video man, the quality just keeps getting better! Im from Australia, where not too many American pomades are available to purchase. I was always interested to try a hair product that has received good reviews and as to why I don't just order the products online, I'm not too sure about which product to purchase and the shipping cost+ product cost is too much for me at the moment(Uni) and I would love to get a hair product to try out. Keep up your videos man, looking forward to more awesome videos!
This is a quote from Steve Lockhart of Lockhart's Pomades, someone I consider to be an expert in the matter. Hi. Is it ok to use this product everyday, or should i use it every other day? Also, is this pomade oil-based? Is it hard to wash out? Are there any sideeffects to using this pomade? How often should i wash my hair when using this product? Also i will use coconut oil instead of vaseline, is this ok? Please reply.
Nice vid Mike! im watching from California and you should pick me because my taste for pomade has really been evolving these past couple of months and im always looking for new products to try. i went from using basic gel pomades like Suavecito and Layrite to more high end quality pomades like Lockharts and Goon Grease, etc. :D

What if the lid is metal?
Is this for a high hold? Does the clay help to make it a higher hold?
Actually use Lanolin instead of the jelly. Helps alot with moisturizing everything and has a good styling property as well
Will it give it the same hold?

Hey! Great video.. Does your pomade feels greasy/oily or does it feels more like water-based?
clean color and everything looks great!
What does this do does it give a shine, does it give it a natural look, or for like curls.

petroleum jelly really shouldn't be used on hair or skin. substituting shea butter or cocoa butter is so much better for hair. And love the intro!
thank you!

Idk about that because it's used in other hair products
for the ingredients im using :
- White Beeswax
- MicroWax
- Petroleum Jelly
- Castor oil
and it is sooo good

Watching from Houston,Texas! I'm new to your channel and I would love to try this product out!
Is there anyway I can make it and the pomade would turn out transparent ?
I don't think so because of the color of the ingredients especially the beeswax it wouldn't become transparent.
