For me this summer is going to be staying home, relaxing and getting myself back into a normal life again.
Sounds great.
I just love your quilts. Watching your videos is how I taught myself how to make my first quilt. And now my quilts have exploded I can’t wait to make a new one but in the process of moving
That is so wonderful. Thank you for sharing, and happy moving!
Enjoy your vacation!
Hi, love your tips, hubby and I live in the UK and will be off at the end of June, to spend time with our eldest son who lives in Germany, the Black Forest area, it is beautiful and we will get to see the grandchildren perform in their ballet school's production.
OH wow! What an amazing trip that will be, and making all the memories.
I love the idea of using clearance fabric for bindings. I also like to use clearance fabrics to make pillowcase sets.
That's such a wonderful idea. Thank you for sharing! 🤩
I totally agree with 3" binding...it just works better for me and my projects. Thx...I thought I was the only one.
We are planning a trip to follow the Snake River with all its history etc.
I'm glad I am not alone. Oh wow, that will be an amazing trip, have fun!
I love to do binding, but it took a while to get to this point. I only machine bind and I'll love doing machine binding, now that I have mastered it. I sew to the back, then bring to the front and use a variety of stitches including close top stitch and serpentine wavy shirt. I love using stripes for my bindings, but other times I will use the same that is on the backing.
I hope to get to that point one day then Karla, if I loved every aspect of quilting it makes it even that much better. 😍
YES!! 3" binding works best for me toooo!!
YAY!
Binding is one of my favorite parts 😂
You are amazing Rosie.
I love binding, I get paid to bind quilts for others! We are having a staycation, we live in Maine, so we’re going to places around the state. There is even a desert in Maine!
OH that is awesome of you, and have so much fun. Staycations can be the absolute best.
I love that idea for binding. That is great fabric
Awe thanks!
Great idea for fabric that doesn't tickle our funny bones anymore. I have a few yards of material that I could make binding with. Enjoy your vacation. 😊
Thank you so so much, and have a wonderful summer yourself! 😍
Love that fabric and this idea is so good saves time and money win win❤️
I totally agree!
I love love love to do bindings. To me it's the last finished thing to do on the machine . If it's for a gift I sew it on and then finish it up by hand so relaxing.
You make it sound so peaceful!
I hand bind all my quilts. Love doing the binding. My least favorite part in sandwiching a quilt.
Wow, you are amazing Barbara!!
Love the quilt too!!
Wonderful!!
Great tip!
I don’t know how it took me sooooo long to find your channel, but I’m so glad I did. Love your tips and tricks as well as watching your quilt ideas! Very excited to go watch your previous videos! Thank you for sharing!
I am so so glad you are here Kim. Thank you for watching and sharing!!
I prefer the 3 inch binding too. Thanks for sharing your tips. Going to Door County Peninsula in Wisconsin....Sister Bay has Al Johnson's restaurant, Swedish place with goats on the grass roof!
Oh my goodness, that sounds like so much fun! Send pictures. 😍
Because there is so much fabric left over from the backing, i also use that for binding. I love the whole binding process and finish by hand. I find hand sewing, like applique, very soothing. And yes, agree, the binding is a great part of the whole process, and you know it's done! Tfs,hugs, Chel 🌸
You are amazing, I agree there are many parts of this that are so soothing. I just love quilting.
Great tip thank you!
You are very welcome!
That is a great tip! Thanks for sharing.
You are very welcome! ❤
I’ll be using your tips and tricks in my sewing studio! 😊
Have a wonderful family vacation!
Thank you so very much Bernadette.
I'm just about to finish my first quilt. I love fabric deals-I also buy them in bulk for backing on projects.
Yes me too. You can never have too much material right?!?
Great job! I would have bought too.
Thank you Pam! 😄
Great video. I love shopping in the clearance section. I have a rule to not pay full price for my fabrics unless it is something that I really need. Never thought of using clearance as binding. I will now shop with that in mind also. Thanks
I love that rule!
I love doing the binding. I prefer to hand sew my binding
So many people have said that. I think that is Amazing Sara.
I use 3/8" seam most of the time to attach the binding. Binding is cut 2 3/4" to 3". Just depends on on the at! LOL
. Now that I am retired I am beginning to like doing binding
That is so wonderful Diana, and congratulations!!
I don’t mind binding a bit. I have used the Magic Binding tutorial from Shabby Fabrics forever.
Yes it's a great tutorial for sure!
I love watching your Channel and I was recently watching conquering Mount scrap more with Brenda and she mentioned your Channel so I thought I'd say hey
Oh that is so so sweet. I am so glad you are here.
Hi Christen, it’s good to see you today! Good for you and your family to go on a long awaited vacation and to go to your parents beautiful vacation home is wonderful. It is Gorgeous❣️❣️❣️ I know you will enjoy every minute there. No big plans here for vacation, quilting I am excited to work on a few upcoming projects. Have a nice time, 🥰 Chris
Thank you so much, we can't wait to all be together and make memories. I can't wait to hear about the projects you do. How fun! 🤩
Hi Kristen, I’m finishing up a quilt with a pattern I got from FQS’s Sew Sampler box, it’s called Easy Street. I’m putting the binding on it today. I’m using minke for the backing. (That slips and slides under the needle, grr).🤣 But it’s so soft. 🥰 Have fun❣️ Chris
Sorry I misspelled your name.😬🥰
Sandwiching is my least favorite part!
I totally understand Sharon!
Me too!!
Me, three! Binding I look forward to. Very relaxing while I watch a movie or chat with a high school friend. But, sandwiching??? UGH. I will procrastinate for two weeks and once I finally get it done it takes only a couple days to quilt.
Your quilting is beautiful! I would love to see a long arm demo. Love your channel....and the gray polka dot! Have a great vacation. My Summer will be happily spent in my own backyard (and sewing room :)
Thank you for your kind words Paula. And enjoy every second of your summer!
Hi, thank you for the binding tips and showing the finished quilts you made. Beautiful! Brenda from Conquering Mount Scrapmore did a shout out to you and your channel, thought I'd come and check you out. Great video! Subscribing
Oh my goodness that is so sweet of the both of you, she is wonderful. I'm so glad you are here!
❤❤❤
That kind of large fabric purchase is also good to use for sashing when you need to pull several blocks together.
Yes, you are so right about that!
I make mostly table toppers and wall hangings. I often use a holiday print for the backing when the front is not holiday fabric. That gives me a project that can be used with either side up. That hard part is finding a binding fabric that goes with both sides of the quilt. I don’t want to see a holiday binding on the non-holiday side.
I have found that binding is a good way to use up fabric that has been in my stash a long time. I probably bought it for a project that I decided not to do. I cut my binding at 2 5/8 inches if I will use a 1/4-inch seam to sew it on, and I cut it 2 3/4 inches or more if I want to sew it on with a larger seam allowance. I machine sew it to the front of the quilt and hand sew it down on the back.
Thank you so much for sharing that, such wonderful ideas!!! 😄😍
I think binding is the whipped cream and cherry on the quilt. Love to do it.
Awe, that is so so great Carol! 😄
I take 5 2 1/2 inch or 3 inch strips sew end to end roll them on toilet rolland put them on my shelves .
Then they are ready. I do all colors, I do have to make more, getting low on white.
That's a great tip!!!!
Binding is way easier than matching HST!
That and cutting pieces, hate, hate cutting out pieces!!!!
It is not my favorite. LOL
I’m in the minority. I love binding! I always make my binding as soon as the top is complete. I’m always looking for hand work to do in front of the tv. Tada - binding!
Love that! You are my hero.
Can you tell me the name of the longarm quilting design you used on the panel quilt? It is perfect for your quilt and I have one that I think it would be perfect for, too!
I'd have to go back and look it up, Nancy. I don't remember off the top of my head but I know it had flowers and lots of swirl patterns.
Travel Plans: Hawaiian Cruise for my 40th anniversary. :)
OH my goodness that is amazing!!! Have the best time ever.
CAN you please reaad my comment and question I posted on your last post. I didn't know where to leave my question so I put it there. thanks. I don't find binding too dificult to much, what I dislike to do more than any other quilt chore is sandwitching all 3 layers. I do it on my table and I swear I must burn off 3 pounds by running back and forth from one side together, getting it streight no a little more on the right, nope more on the left and on and on and on I go. Whew it's frustrating and nerve wracking to me. This is a great tio and helpfull also.
LOL, I can totally relate to the back and forth. Oh, I"ll go look and see if I can find it, I try and answer everyone's questions quickly.
@@ISeeStarsQuilting sorry to take your time. tyvm!
@@ISeeStarsQuilting It's on trip around the world.
When I finish quilting a quilt I am so anxious to get the binding on it. To me it is like sewing the buttons on a shirt you made. Binding does not wait on me so far in my quilting life. Maybe later.....
That is so great, you are an inspiration!
Toilet rolls
Not for me!I don’t mind binding!
You are my hero!
I have so many quilts ready to bind, some even have the binding made. But there they sit in the corner of my sewing room. I really need to do them. Once they’re on the quilt and ready for hand stitching it takes me no time at all. I like sitting and hand binding. It’s just getting them trimmed and putting the binding on. 😅
We are a mixed bunch which I just love. Some of us love it, others don't. It's so great to hear ideas from each other. I know you will get them done, no worries.
