You should definitely check out more Voiceplay. "Hoist the Colors", "If I Were A Rich Man/Girl", "Moana Medley", to name just a few. Oh! I almost forgot! "Just Sing", which is a HUGE collaboration with MANY other a capella artists. If/when you do that one, be sure to turn on the captions. They included information about who everyone is, as well as a few snarky remarks.
Geoff has a video on his channel explaining how he gets 'subterranean' like that last note. It always tickles me when people hear Geoff go prince of bass cleft for the first time.
If you want a similar ridiculous display of range, check out Ivan Rebroff's "I'm tiefen Keller" Ivan goes from an easy F5 all the way down to a sustained F1!
Have you reacted to the group Home Free? Tim Foust is their bass, and he’s also got a 4 (or is it 5?) octave range like Geoff does. You should hear their version of “Man of Constant Sorrows”. Their beat-boxer (Adam Rupp) is OUTSTANDING too!
Hoist the colors as mentioned is great. Since you also like low voices you should check out Tim Storms - Lonesome Road. He's way down in the basement in that song.
This is my favorite of Voiceplay's many excellent arrangements. That low note, though! Ever since your reaction to Postmodern Jukebox's Creep with Haley Reinhart, I've wanted to hear you react to Shoshana Bean's cover of Make It Rain at The Theatre At Ace Hotel. Like Haley, Shoshana has some gravity-bending technique and an emotional vocabulary that does the blues justice. Highly recommended.
Speaking of acapella-artists, you should really check out "Man of Constant Sorrow" by Home Free - Apart from having a brilliant beatboxer, their bass singer can punch some bad ass deep notes as well
I would think as a voice instructor a capella groups would be of great interest to you. As much as I like voiceplay and Geoff, Pentatonix is the premier group out there. Their songs get 100's of millions of views and they have won 3 Grammy awards. React to several Pentatonix videos and your views and subscribers will increase dramatically.
You should check out the Bass Gang. It’s made up of four bass singers. They just released four new songs that are just EPIC!!! Yellow Flicker Beat is my favorite, but Mad World is so bassy it will shake the walls. Check it out!
Geoff's solo work is also excellent. Check out his cover of the Tennessee Ernie Ford hit from the '50s - "Sixteen Tons" ruclips.net/video/fzlT80jQ3lo/видео.html This one is 4 parts -- but Geoff sings them all. The video is a composite of 4 Geoffs in a row!
I'd like to recommend a reaction to Nightwish - Ghost Love Score. I'll leave a link to the live performance at Wacken Open Air in 2013 below. Floor Jansen is the lead vocalist and she is phenomenal. Since you know your way around a voice, I'm sure you'll appreciate it. ruclips.net/video/47e_961OQWE/видео.html
With you being a vocal coach I think you would really love The Wicked Medley that Voiceplay does. Geoff spent a good amount of years on the arrangement and it shows
Guess what the BEST part of this is? This is an 'older' song and there has been enough time between then and now that they have all improved. Geoff's voice has reached lower lows. He's an actual quakemaster. :)
Loved your reaction, thanks! More VoicePlay, please! Their newest drop, The Dragonborn Comes, is truly way beyond next level. Incredible harmonies, Incredible Geoff bass notes, and a video production that looks like it was pulled from a major movie studio production. It's that good.
The difference between Voiceplay and other groups is that every one gets a chance to shine. You should checkout Hoist the Colours, My Mother Told Me, or for a bit of Valentine's Day fun their version of I Can't Help Falling in Love. You won't be disappointed
I'm glad you enjoyed this one! The jump to "I'm the Oogie Boogie Man!" and the drop of how many octaves after at the close of the song is one of the things that always blows reactor's minds, and it's fun to see every time!
Geoff’s lowest recorded note is a B0 in Halo Theme. I agree with the previous suggestions: Hoist the Colours, If I Were a Rich Man/Girl, and the latest, The Dragonborn Comes-you’re going to love them. Be aware, too, that Geoff and Layne (the beatboxer) trade off doing the arrangements-both of them are fabulous. Eli (ELee), the group’s tenor, does most of their lighting and effects, and he’s also really skilled at that. You can’t go wrong with Voiceplay. Great reaction! Once you hear a song where they’re not doing character voices, I think you might also be pretty impressed by Eli and their newest member, Cesar as well as Geoff. (Past members of the group also had some pretty awesome voices.). We don’t get to hear Layne sing much, but when he does, that’s also a treat.
My Mother Told me, from Vikings, is also a good group one as is Mr Grinch. Some straight Geoff stuff, I'd suggest: Take Me Home , Country Road as well Headless Horseman and his inventive spin of Monster Mash, from Fall of last year
3:40 Geoff has an instructional video (maybe a few videos?) on RUclips about finding your natural singing range. Not many of could handle 5 octaves but I think it might help someone expand their range of voice.
yep and even if you aren't a singer its still great to watch his videos he gives a lot of knowledge on his techniques and you learn a lot about singing. He talks about training his low growl from Tim from Home Free who he first heard doing it and wanted to learn to do it to make his low notes better. How it takes years of practice to even start to fine tune your voice to hit the notes you want, and that after years he still doesn't have it all the way yet.
Late to the party, but, to my shame I just recently discovered this group . Beside their amazing musical talents, let's take our hats off for their theatrical characterisations - there are some serious acting chops there. They are one extraordinary, breathtaking package .
Being a 5 octave singer makes those 'belt for Jesus' bits really special. His final note here is not as low as he can go. Geoff has been working on his chest voice and can now do many first octave notes as chest notes not subharmonics. Listen to Geoff's single Shenandoah. It really is like different people singing.
Yeah I think I learned the most from Geoff and that is saying a lot. Like she said in the other video of Sixteen Tons, his control is so spot on it's just so rare for a bass. Thurl is the only other bass singer I can think of that was so musical with their voice, of course that is one of Geoff's biggest inspirations.
Voiceplay (the Theatre Kids) is so fun to watch. Check out The Dragonborn Comes, Wicked, and Greatest Showman Medley. They will blow your mind. Geoff has a 5 octave rang and he sings so clearly throughout it. Shenandoah is one of Geoff's by himself and is such a beautiful version.
I think(?) I read somewhere that Geoff wanted to sing rock when he was younger and worked on that range for a while. Someone else can probably fill you in better on that :) With their new Dragonborn release it seems the lower Geoff goes, the higher Eli and Omar go in retaliation.
Been waiting for you to get back to Geoff/Voiceplay. Love your reactions!! Geoff did God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen at Christmas - fantastic of course. He did Shenandoah last month and it is so sweet and soothing and wonderful. You'll love it. For Voiceplay, I recommend their Wicked Medley first; they have two women collaborating with them and it is phenomenal. Have fun going down this rabbit hole!
Well, since you're currently on a bass singer kick.. check out a man by the name of Tim Foust. I would love to see your reaction to his cover of Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow/Stay. I have a feeling you'll be slightly impressed. Also, anything by Voice Play is always a winner. I don't think I've seen anything from them I would consider "bad".
Gotta love Geoff.....Try Lucy Thomas 17 yo, she has a large u-tube catalog 30+ songs....Her little sister Martha 11 yo, I know you will enjoy " When you believe" the harmony is killer, actually its all great... LOVE YA.......tks
The talent among the others singers is also astounding, the way their voice characters sing IN character is so good and fun, the timing in the synchopated sections is so tight and spot on. As for suggestions, You will love the part Geoff has in the Little Mermaid Medley.
Hey, try something about Floor Jansen and Nightwish. e.g. "floor jansen beste zangers henk poort" or "floor jansen nightwish ghost love score" - Best Comment: "All others Sing what they can, but Floor sings what she wants!" I am really sure you will like it! 🙂 Nice video about VoicePlay, I really Like them. Nice COntent you create
You have missed out on so many of VoicePlay's and Geoff's covers. #TheatreKidsOfACappella. Earl and J. are no longer with the group. They have added Cesar De La Rosa to the group.
Im a bass voice singer "basso profondo", i dont know why, but for a bass singer is very easy go to medium and high register, i can sing really high with no force, and very low too of course in my normal register, but a tenor or baritone cant do it.
Awesome reaction. Further VoicePlay to watch, Hoist the Colors, My Mother Told Me, Little Mermaid Medley, HALO theme, If I were a rich man/girl. They are amazing.
women CAN sing that low too. Alecia B. Anderson - Rainbow of Love. It's a 1 minute clip or sth like that so not something to put on the channel I guess but check it out in your down time. The girl in the video hits a C#1
2 of the members left the group last year, Earl and J.None, and 1 replacement so far has been added. They added Cesar Delarosa. They have as before used special guests to sing with as a 5th or 6th member. Must watches are their medleys of Wicked and The Greatest Show on earth. Disney medleys of Moana and Little Mermaid Geoff solo stuff of Blackbird, Bear Necessities, You already did 16 tons and Misty Mountain. So glad to see you had some time to do another review of him/them so many to go through.
@@pastyuscricketer That might have been too strong of a word, let's say "leave of absence" for now. J. None will be doing cameos when he's on shore leave like he did the "Voices on the other side" Halloween tune. Not sure why Earl left though. But they did say Cesar was a shoe in since he gets them coffee every morning.
Both Geoff and Tim Foust with Home Free have a 5 Octave range. Tim actually helped Geoff get to 5 Octaves. Just like Dimash has gone from 6 to 7 Octaves and climbing. 🎶👱♀️👗👠👠💓
I just stumbled upon your channel. Loved this reaction. If you haven't already done so, check out Pentatonix. My favorite are Bohemian Rhapsody and The Prayer.
If you want to see a wider range of what they do try "if I were a rich Man/girl" or The Helo theme, Hoist the colir or indeed the new one The Dragonborn comes. If you want another group try Homefree also acapella but more country. Thier Brothers in Arms is amazing, , if you want to cry try One voice with Billy Gilman.
nightmare before christmas is one of my favorite movies, and this song in particular, is my favorite from the film, and these gentlemen did it very well keeping the soul of the song while making it their own
I like VoicePlay but for acapela, I love Home Free. Their bass, Tim Foust has a 5-octave range and has been known to blow out woofers when they perform on stage. Anything Home Free does is well worth listening to. Off topic, I said in a comment on another of your videos that I was going to do it. I know you have done a couple reactions to Diana Ankudinova from when she was 14 or 15. You need to watch her at 18 singing Can't Help Falling In Love, to get a real understanding of her range as a true castralto.
A lot of Voiceplay's work is in full costume, makeup, character voices, etc. But they also do vids of just plain good singing. Here's one you might want to react to. Same lineup as in what you just watched (Earl and JNone were still with the group when this was done). Cover of Tennessee Whiskey. Some outstanding vocal runs by Eli, JNone, and finally all 3 high voices in unison. Meanwhile, Geoff kinda pretends that he's a bass guitar. ruclips.net/video/yjdDbtXau8k/видео.html
Nice, another vocal coach getting blown away by Voiceplay :-) In addition to the suggestions already made, you *must* check out Geoff's covers of "16 Tons", "The Headless Horseman" and "Far Away". Also, two minor observations: if you listen to this song using headphones, there's a mean panorama effect on the "I'm drowning in my tears" line not quite carried across by speakers. And, like many, you seem to have missed the otherworldly riff Geoff does after "to add a little spice". IMO that alone is worth listening to the song. Anyway, nice vid, do keep 'em coming.
Kudos on choosing Voiceplay, this is an especially fun one. Should you wish to vault to the very top of performers in terms of dynamics I’d like to recommend a singer named Floor Jansen. She has plenty of solo work and currently fronts for the band Nightwish. A typical intro to the band is the song “Ghost Love Score” official live version. Floor has done many covers during the lockdown, I am a fan of her Adagio as well as Oblivion though she has many others like the popular Lady Gaga song “Shallow” if you prefer more familiar tracks. You will be properly astonished I think as she is the penultimate storyteller as singers go with a three octave range and training from classical to theater while she is predominantly a metal performer historically. She uses every discipline often within the same song and her versatility as a soprano is unparalleled and very emotion provoking. Such a presence as well! I hope you will embrace this possibility as her gifts are hard earned and well worth your time.
Another acapella group that does everything via the internet: The Bass Gang. They all have crazy range. Two of theirs I would recommend is their cover of Billie Eilish Bury a Friend or Panic at the Disco' Emperor's New Clothes. You will be absolutely stunned at what they can accomplish.
Check out Nightwish "Ghost Love Score" the 2013 LIVE at Wacken concert, or really anything with Floor Jansen singing, but that is the Nightwish/Floor gateway drug of choice. You won't be disappointed. Also be prepared for the Nightwish Army!
There’s one more I would recommend: VoicePlay’s cover of Metallica’s “Nothing Else Matters”. Fair chance you would find it fascinating. I’ve enjoyed your reactions. I hope to check out your singing instruction videos, too. I’m not much of a singer, but I’m curious. MB
He hits that low note by subharmonic singing, a technique that creates the octave below the actually sung note or even lower notes in the same intervals as the overtone series, but downwards. It is somehow like dividing songs into measures: besides the quarter notes, you hear something with a lower "frequency". For other techniques in low notes, you might go to Tim Foust of Home Free (growl) or Elliott Robinson (full chest). Elliott's work can be found on his own channel (Elliott Michael) or at Axiom Vocal. There are also some collabs with Chris Rupp, founder of Home Free.
I'm humbly suggesting: Lord's Prayer - Andrea Bocelli and the Mormon Tabernacle Choir Man of Constant Sorrow - Home Free (and keep looking for more from them) Too Much Heaven - Bee Gees Baby Come Back - The Players ...and my favorite song in the entire universe: Sailing - Christopher Cross
Geoff has a 6 octave range. But all the members of the group are amazing in their own rights. Layne, the beat boxer, is Zero the ghost dog, Geoff is The Boogie Man and Earl, JNone, and Eli are the children Lock, Shock and Barrel. Earl and JNone have since left the group and Cesar De La Rosa has joined the group permanently but they are still down by one permanent member. Omar Cardona has been joining them frequently and may become the next permanent group member
Since you like low voices I suggest that you do researce on Tim Storms. He has a 10 octave vocal range with the lowest recorded note being a minus 7F which is 0.189Hz. He currently holds the world record for the lowest bass note sung. His vocal cords are approximately twice the length of a normal bass singers vocal cords! Happy hunting! 🤗
Since you seem to like a capella, and low notes....you should check out Home Free and their rendition of Man of Constant Sorrow !! Tim Faust is their bass singer and is amazing
Hello from the Netherlands . I saw your comment channel and am very curious what you think of this video : Nightwish Ghost Love Score Live wacken 2013 . Nightwish is a Finnish band but the singer is the Dutch Floor Jansen she was also vocal coach herself for years .
As a bass myself, let me lay somethin on ye here. See ALL bases were either tenor, counter tenor or soprano before puberty. You show me the deepest bass voice that ever lived and I'll show you a Opie Taylor as a boy. Now AFTER puberty and them squeaky little sissy voices bust through the basement, that high chest voice suddenly becomes head voice at best if not falsetto, especially without proper trainin. If not exercised, that once clear high voice can become lost just like any stagnant skill. I find that I sing the clearest and deepest bass if I first sing a song as a high or lead tenor. Fer me, that kinda rubs the rust off the vocals and wakes em up to where I can, modestly, stay pretty even with ol Geoff.
You would enjoy Geoff's cover of Misty Mountain Cold (from The Hobbit). He does something very interesting. I am itching to tell you what it is, but i won't spoil it for you.
If you love the lows then Avi Kaplan and Tim Foust are the other members of the holy bass trinity. I'd fully recommend ring of fire by home free (feat. Avi and arranged by Geoff) For home free I have 3 recommendations but they'd have to be done in this order: ring of fire, man of constant sorrow and mayday.

I wish I could hit the notes as low as Geoff. I can barely hit a C2 and can't always get there. I watched many videos on subharmonics so on.

Should react to the a capella group Home Free
PLEASE do react "Gusto Ko Nang Bumitaw (live band performance)"🙏🙏 byMORISSETTE😍😍❤❤
Please listen to home free with tim faust.😉
I'll have to check it out :)
Please can you do some more VoicePlay Reactions. Hoist The Colours is Incredible xx

Open Vocal Fry is another technique in hitting low notes, although it is by far the emptiest-sounding method of the lot.
I'm humbly suggesting:
Lord's Prayer - Andrea Bocelli and the Mormon Tabernacle Choir
Man of Constant Sorrow - Home Free (and keep looking for more from them)
Too Much Heaven - Bee Gees
Baby Come Back - The Players
...and my favorite song in the entire universe:
Sailing - Christopher Cross
Geoff has a 6 octave range. But all the members of the group are amazing in their own rights. Layne, the beat boxer, is Zero the ghost dog, Geoff is The Boogie Man and Earl, JNone, and Eli are the children Lock, Shock and Barrel. Earl and JNone have since left the group and Cesar De La Rosa has joined the group permanently but they are still down by one permanent member. Omar Cardona has been joining them frequently and may become the next permanent group member
Great reaction
Maybe you also like Nightwish Ghost Love Score from Wacken 2013 with great female singer Floor Jansen
Geoff Castelucci's Big Bad John is a must for you to react to. Just saying....Your welcome..
Since you seem to like a capella, and low notes....you should check out Home Free and their rendition of Man of Constant Sorrow !! Tim Faust is their bass singer and is amazing
Or react to My mother told me ,sung by voiceplay.......or The Greatest Showman
The B4-E1 at the end is amazing im not sure but i think it goes
B4
B3?
B2?
B1?
E1
You like bass voices, check out Homefree, Avi Kaplan, Bass gang, Peter Barber
Hello from the Netherlands .
I saw your comment channel and am very curious what you think of this video : Nightwish Ghost Love Score Live wacken 2013 .
Nightwish is a Finnish band but the singer is the Dutch Floor Jansen she was also vocal coach herself for years .
Their latest is The Dragonborn Comes from the game Skyrim and it's fantastic. And how? It's called subharmonics. and lots and lots of practise.
Please react "Eternal flame" by prada satria🙏🏻☺️ thanks
I hope you happy🇮🇩😅🙏🏻

If you haven't yet...PLEASE react to Home Free's "Man of a Constant Sorrow", you'll love it!!!
if you like voiceplay you should check out "Hoist the colours" and "The dragonborn comes" you wont be disappointed !
If you love the lows then Avi Kaplan and Tim Foust are the other members of the holy bass trinity.
I'd fully recommend ring of fire by home free (feat. Avi and arranged by Geoff)
For home free I have 3 recommendations but they'd have to be done in this order: ring of fire, man of constant sorrow and mayday.
Confession time I laughed at you thru this video. I think the word is SHOCK!!!
Geoff (bass) voice play and Tim foust (bass) home Free and Avi former member Pentatonix (bass) all have five octave range voices
I think you should react to "Shave Em Dry" by Lucille Bogan, an actual 1930s song.
