    I'm kinda glad you started with this one. As others have said, Geoff has a much larger range than what he showed here, but he'll often use different vocal techniques to reach those extended notes (his favorite being subharmonics). This one is just straight up chest voice the whole time. So now that you've seen what he can do without any fancy techniques, I think you'll be better prepared for the otherworldly performances he's given that take advantage of his full arsenal.

    My mom fell in love with my dad the moment she heard his voice booming from the back of the auditorium at the university.
    Dad loved singing Eastern Orthodox liturgy which requires such super-deep bass voices. His voice was sought by conductors and he sometimes was a member of two or three choirs at the same time. He sang in church (and I joined him a couple of times as I can read music from a sheet), but also traveled around the world, cut records, sang on stage in opera choruses, etc.
    Of course, over the decades of singing he made friends. The guys in his choir section - with equally incredibly deep voices - were his lifelong best friends. So, every now and then they'd come for dinner. After they ate, they'd each pick up one of my 3-4 guitars and start singing. Songs like "Go down Moses", "Long White Robe" and "Born under the Wandering Star" and yes, "Sixteen tons". The whole house was booming and shaking (and that was a 64-appartments building) and all the neighbors could feel it if not hear it.
    My voice is deep, but not like his. Also, unlike my Dad, I never studied how to sing properly (perhaps I can watch Geoff's videos on techniques of singing deep). I was, for many years, invited to all the parties to bring my guitar and sing. But how I wish I could sing the way he could. He died in 2003, and mom died last month (her 89 birthday would have been tomorrow). So these songs make me sad and nostalgic....

    • @bronsonleach3573
      @bronsonleach3573 2 года назад

      Eastern style singing has a lot of subharmonics which is useing two different sounds at the same time to drop a octave. From what I notice doing subharmonics is you can go really low but eventually you will be able to get it with regular chest voice. Also as well the older you get as a bass the deeper the voice from just pure wear and tear and years of experience of going down really low.

      People may say that Geoff sings the lowest note by a human, but that is not true. Tim Storms has the world record for the lowest note (G-7) and he also has the record for the largest range (10 octaves). However, Geoff has an awesome range that he is able to use seemingly without effort. It is also noteworthy that Geoff has stated that Tim Foust, from Home Free, taught him how to sing subharmonically while they were on the sing-off together. If you watch those sing-off videos, Geoff does not sing that low during those performances. So, he has obviously done a lot of work to perfect this skill.

      @@Tryst46 Not G7 G-7. A0 is the lowest note on the piano, and Tim Storms goes 7 Gs below that or 8 octaves below the lowest G on the piano. It is so low that the human ear is not able to hear it, but it is measured by a machine. ruclips.net/video/AaPtiFO-NLc/видео.html

      @@fruitfulvinefamilyministri1557 I would find that very hard to believe. A C3 is just over 130 Hertz, a C2 is just over 65 Hertz, a C1 is just over 32 Hertz, a C0 is just over 16 Hertz.
      en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Piano_key_frequencies
      Based on a halving the frequency on each octave, that would put a C-1 at 8, a C-2 at 4, C-3 at 2 and a C-4 at 1.
      Going lower than that to C-5 would mean 0.5 Hertz, that's only 1 peak on an oscilliscope every two seconds, C6 is one every 4 seconds.
      You are telling me that he can pulse his vocal chords at less than 0.25 Hertz or less than 1 beat every 4 seconds?
      I can go much lower, I click my vocal chords once, come back next week for the next click and a week after that for the next one. That would put my lowest note at around 0.00000000000001 Hertz or a G-300 or thereabouts.
      I agree he can sing very low, but I doubt very much if he can go as far down as G-7.

    He has an amazing range and voice, and yes every voice in here is sung by him. If you want to see more of his solo work any song would do they're all fantastic, tho I love Mele Kalikimaka and Bear Necessities. Then he has other songs with his a cappella group, VoicePlay. A few songs where he shines are The Oogie Boogie song, My mother told me, You're a mean one Mr. Grinch, The Little Mermaid Medley, Daddy Sang Bass, but others like their Queen medley, Billie Eilish medley or Warriors are amazing too.

    You'll hear people associate Geoff Castellucci with Tim Foust from Home Free and Avi Kaplan (formerly) from Pentatonix. Both Tim and Avi have said that Geoff is a better, smoother bass than either of them and have admitted Geoff can hit lower notes than either of them. Geoff denies this entirely. People want to turn it into a competition, but you shouldn't let them. All three are amazing.
