I have the hardest time following sign as it is naturally spoken (i mean quickly).
I love your colors video. At first i was wondering why it wasn't dubbed in spoken english. Not for long. You took your time and actually changed outfits to help. That was gold!
Hah yep! The colors video didn't have voiceover - I made that video before I ever started adding voiceover, but the color changes communicate everything you need to know as a learner! Glad you enjoyed.
I appreciate these videos I work with a deaf guy at work he lip reads but he enjoys when I try sign language so thanks and hopefully you continue posting more

Hello Meredith! I’m having trouble understanding finger spelling when it is signed fast even though I am very comfortable with the alphabet. Do you think you could do a video with some tricks to help us? Maybe starting slow then going faster and faster and see if we get it right.

TFS, Meredith! But Summer and black the color like very close. This this so, and we just differentiate them by context??
Hi Gwen, thanks for the great question! SUMMER and BLACK indeed look similar. Yes, context will mostly help you out to know the difference, but the signs do differ slightly: For "SUMMER", the index finger starts straight and then bends in, like an "X" handshape. For "BLACK", the index finger stays straight the entire sign. Hope that helps!

I would love to learn how to start a conversation with a deaf or hard of hearing person whom I’ve met for the first time. So topics like how old are you, where are you from, what are your hobbies, did you pursue a degree etc.

The sign for picnic is a regional one as I have seen many different signs for the word.
I generally don't like the second sign for 'starfish' because it is not really conceptual accurate since a starfish is not really a fish.
+Aaron Delgado Thanks for stopping by, Aaron! Do you have resources to share the other versions of "picnic" or "starfish" you've seen? I'd be interested to learn other regional variations of "picnic", and for "starfish" I shared the fingerspelling because I realize that STAR+FISH isn't really a conceptual match, but those are just the two I know. What sign do you use for "starfish"?
