    As a poor person who still wants to learn sign, this has been a great resource. I haven't been able to do in person classes, and having a teacher teach in the language has helped me so much! All the angles help a lot too! Thanks for making these accessible!

      Another way to get extra practice online and learn more variations is to watch native signers -- if you can interact live / at Deaf events, that's ideal. But otherwise you can check out videos like anything by DPAN.tv -- watch the news in ASL! Great practice.

    • @jlostudio9397
      @jlostudio9397 3 года назад +1

      Grammar in ASL is pretty confusing. I like to think of it being slightly backwards, like learning Spanish. Eventually you’ll start to know where you’re supposed to turn the words around rather than talk the way we normally would, if that helps. Or if you’ve ever watched something Star Wars, just think of Yoda talk. There’s also a video by another person, but I forget who. Just stay on RUclips and you might want to search ASL Sentence Structure. That one really helped me.
      Hope this helps you! 😊🥰 ❤️

    This was EXACTLY what I needed. I took a level 1 class several years ago up around Philadelphia and recently decided to take another class and didn't know whether to do Level 1 as a refresher or Level 2 and after getting some guidance went into Level 2. They spent last Monday going over all of the signs in Level 1... half I knew and half I didn't. And the review was fast.
    This covered a lot from the ones I didn't know or wasn't confident about!!! Thank you, thank you, thank you!!
    It was the right pace and amount of repetition along with explanations for some.

    Hi, Meredith! I have some doubts about signing some connecting words like: as, but, of, from, to, for, by, through, if, would, could, although, on, off, into, just, and, or... I'd love a video of you signing these words. I love all your videos! Thanks to them I am learning ASL and having a great big progress. You're amazing!

    Something I realized as a parent/teacher, having feelings of being excited is not always a positive thing. It has different meanings, especially for children.
    Of course, we usually use it to describe a good feeling related to pleasing experiences (good or bad) as adults.

I think it would be easier if you signed feeling and emotions just by themselves to show. Thanks again for all of your videos and work and time 🙏🏼

    Some of these signs brought me back to my surfer root. Appropriately, 'Whats up?' and ''same as always'
    But the 'proud' sign made me think of FFXIV's Ball Dance emote.

    • @ASLMeredith
      @ASLMeredith  5 лет назад

      Hi Turon, thanks again for sharing. As noted, it's normally to get nervous, but with more time and exposure you'll improve and gain confidence! You can also improve your skills by practicing in the mirror or even recording yourself and watching it back, to see where you can get better. Either way - don't be afraid - keep practicing in actual conversations and that fear/nervousness will begin to subside.

    It's funny I can sign way better than read. I worked with deaf kids for a year and then with adults with disabilities, where I signed but I had a couple students who used it for reading but didn't sign back. And now I just sign church music, but I have not really been involved in the deaf community since moving to our new town. Your videos are perfect for my level!
