- Drawn to the stage at a young age, Andy started doing Sign Language with his mum after she had an invasive surgery and had to relearn how to use her body again. During this time, he became fascinated with the many ways with which we communicate, and decided that music and performance needed to be more inclusive of the deaf community. Incorporating signing into his performances he invented 'sign dance' and went on to be the founding member of the Auslan Choir. In a world-first, Andy Dexterity is the first-ever sign language artist on The Voice Stage.

His moustache had me thinking he was a villain but his heart had me convinced hes a hero
I don't know why I find this comment extremely funny.🤣
@@desireukachi6173 it's cos I'm the comedic relief they kill off for dramatic effect dahling 😎😂
Well played Ma'am. Well played. 🤣
Just think of him as Escanor
Sonic villan finally becom a hero
As a singer who is loosing my ability to hear, this means the world to me.
I'm a singer and the thought of losing my hearing is scary to me. It's something I never really thought of. I'm glad someone like Andy is out there. My heart goes to you.
I can't imagine what you must be going through. I just hope that you can keep the music in your heart, once it's there you can't lose it.
I admit I was just one of the many people who was ignorant of (or rather never even thought of) how hearing/deafness affects the *experience* of music. I loved this so much, and I love it even more because it made me go "whoah, I've never even thought of that, this should be everywhere" - all the best to you and here's to more hearing accessible (?) content.
After hearing this song, You got your hearing recovered xD
Oh and By the way i Hope you are in the Pink of Health Hope you get Better!
Was quite surprised when Delta stood up and started signing to him at the end, almost as surprised that he didn't choose her!
I get ya. I had the same thoughts. Until he started talking to George then I was ohhhhhh now I get it.
Not saying anything bad Only that they have a few shared interests in common.
I get your point, but if we see it from another perspective : the fact 2 ppl are speaking the same language doesn't create "attraction". It can help to create a connection, but it doesn't mean much.
For example, as french, if you offer me to speak with a french person I don't like and a non francophone I like, I'll go with the non francophone for sure.
My ex. is a pretty cheap, but hope it's understandable nonetheless xD
@@jrthmc29
Yup, I was thinking the same thing.
@@jrthmc29 I also spotted that as well.
This was for his son and it made me cry
ponciano calingacion He was pure magic well done
I was tearing up before he even got on stage. What an amazing human being. Kudos and mad respect to The Voice Australia for bringing him on.
So am I😭😭😭
No... This was for the 466 000 000 people.
I’m not sure his son is deaf… he has ear phones on maybe for noise cancelation
Finally! We have someone providing sign language. Rock on!
My lovely wife does LIBRAS (brazilian sign language) ❤🇧🇷!
I do it
Delta is really good
Now your liker become 666
Yes!
If we ask ourselves, "Could we use several more people like Andy Dexterity in this world?" My answer is, a very simple, "yes."
Yes
that's why we should give funds to allow sign language learning schools to exist and grow.
Yes
i know a whole family dedicated to it
1k likes for u!!!
3:33 I love how Delta realized when she turned around that he was signing and not just moving his hands. Means so much to see this kind of recognition in the modern world.
Yeah,
George was just waving his arms about thinking the guys doing silly moves.
Yet still ends up housing George.
We all know why though
lovely & real comment!
He better get far rather he wins or lose! 👏👏
We need people like him
He failed epically
You mean whether, not rather.
"Being heard gives people visibility"
One of the greatest quotes I have ever come across! Deep!
I loved when ppl started to applause in sign language. I also loved when Kelly and Delta started to greet in that language, the fact that they did that made me know that they deserve all my respect. I absolutely loved this performance, he's really great, he's a great singer, also. This is equality, this is inclusive, this is human kindness, this is humanity.
i think when Delta asked him "how are you" in sign was my favourite part of all the voice editions, ever
I love this audition. He’s amazing and sends a great message.
I just wish the camera didn’t cut away from Delta at 3:33-3:34 just when the realisation of what she’s watching set in. Such a powerful moment.
John Lennon would have loved this. This is what I think.
Beautiful. Thank you for doing this.
When I was about 9 or 10, there was a talent show at school. One of the girls stood up with two friends and performed "Celebration", both vocally and in ASL (American Sign language). Both her parents had been born deaf, and she had been born hearing in a 'deaf world'. She wanted to bring both sides together. That stuck with me for over 40 years. I hope more artists do this type of combined performance. A performance that included everyone.
He's already a winner.. not in this show but as a human being who understands how to communicate on every level in life
❤🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
I`m half-deaf.... how strong! Geez, how strong! He`s the HERO!
This is amazing. As a mother of an American Deaf child..this is cool to see how other "sign languages" are.
Thank you!
@@samikhamash8277 if you stop to think about it, why would it be the same? Different parts of the world speak different languages so different variations of sign language would adapt in different regions. Now a days we may teach a standard unified language but that's in our part of the world. Others still use the signs they would have adapted in their home nation
Yeah my daughter is deaf as well and this is very interesting to me. I knew sign language is different in different countries but very unique
How much does it differ? I mean, the sign language? Can people understand it using a DIFFERENT sign-method?
Daniel Bottomley no they’re completely different. In the UK it tends to be more 2 handed signs and I can sign BSL but I didn’t understand a whole lot of this. In the US as I’m aware it’s a lot of one handed signs
Katie hurren Yeah here in the Us most signs are actually one handed. There are quite a few that require both though.
I loved, loved, loved that as soon as the audience realized what was going on, they cheered and supported him! And they did so even before they knew he could hear and sing. At that point all they knew was that he was signing.
3:33 how of Ms. Delta change her facial expressions was goosebumps 💝
bodychills!! I cried.
Singing and sign language combined, now thats what we call talent...great choice of music..
tbh I was so surprised how many people in the audience knew how to sign to clap for someone! Very amazing blind audition, it's warming my heart
“Difficulty accessing the average hearing range” -that is how you talk inclusively 😢
The amount of genuine consideration and respect in this one person is astounding. Inspired.
Kelly's expression showed how surprised she was. She didn't expect that. Kudos to Andy.
As someone with many family members with varying levels of hearing loss, this man is special. As a hearing person I take for granted my ability to listen to music. I love seeing that the audience was behind him from the start.
My whole elementary school learnt this exact song in sign language for one of our concerts and performed it to our families and friends while singing and signing at the same time. This brought back an amazing memory. I love it.
This one just teach me a valuable lesson. That “music” is for everybody.
I love too that this was a blind audition. Gave them a little understanding of what the deaf community goes through
Love how Boy George thinks he's just dancing at 3:28

Deception !!!!
as a person with poor hearing, i am moved and i love how people in the audience embraced his performance. i just hoped everyone in the world would be like that. when you cannot hear much of ehat people say, people tend to get angry at you, bully you when they know that you are hearing impaired. good message with the great song.
I can only imagine the frustration when someone get mad at you on a personal level especially when its something out of your control. Some times people are the worst.
But maybe there is a silver lining in the fact you don't have to hear everyone and thier constant non stop complaining about everything or listen to everyone and there issues with this person or that person. Or the Karen's OMG the Karen's. It would be so nice not to be able and hear all these hi pitched, insanely screaming, stereotypical nagging Karen's out there.
Yeah I know that the whole Karen idea it isn't really worth the trade off. Just trying to let a little humor in.
Honestly, at first i told myself that The Voice wasnt the right talent show to perform sign language... damn i couldnt have been more wrong... this was powerful and i felt it just as much as a vocal performance! Amazing
He has the right attitude! And the right reasons. 👏🏾
This was 2 years ago but never was in recommended. Why not? I just saw short vid but wanted full song. They want voices, this is a Voice. Amazing audition.
He really made us imagine the melody of sign language
Hes on a MISSION and I respect him soo much!
what this man does is inspirational. he talks to everone. he really understands what music is all about. i love him and i respect him. hard to say for me, cause there are not many who gained my respect. but he sure did, because he touched my heart
There should be must, must more singer's like Andy Dexterity on every VOICE show all around the world.
I love how beautifully Andy describes the language, and how to use the language (not directly translating but signing to the meaning). It's wonderful to give visibility to different sign languages from different countries.
He is a person who needs to be idolized
I got chills watching him sign that song!! I've been learning American Sign Language for a few yrs now and I love it! It's so cool seeing more and more people standing up for the HOH, and deaf community, well done! ❤❤❤
Hes already the winner for the heart who heard him loud and clear...GOD BLESS..
This was the best performance I've seen on the show.
It’s so beautiful in Sign. I started crying right away.
this is the most beatiful perfomance the voice has ever seen. I'm crying so hard
Music is vibrations. If played/sung loud enough deaf people can literally FEEL the music.
Amen!
This wonderful man plays on The Wiggles! This is awesome that he is branching into other areas.
Brought me to tears. In a world bent on dividing people this man is uniting people. What a fitting song. What a way to expand humanity. Thanks for an unforgettable experience.
So true so true. He signed beautifully and sings even better.
Thankyou Andy for sharing your beauty ❤💙💜
I don't know what to say.
I feel the emotions and tears started falling from my eyes.
This is so full of passion. This guy is so gifted in many ways. I was not expecting something like that.
I just love this guy he is so caring and thoughtful of other people and the fact that some judges even know the sign language really impress me.
That moment of realization on Delta's face - awesome.
This video is very inspiring !!! My ex-wife is deaf so I can somewhat relate to the experiences. Very moving.
That to me is the best performance I’ve seen on the voice, someone bringing the show to the ones who can see but not hear. Great job and a very big thank you from me here in the 🇬🇧
You can feel the song in the way he moves
If something like this doesn't win. I will still watch a worthy performance.
The world needs more people like him. Glad I had some good teachers and classmates in high school to teach me sign language (signing exact English) and it’s help me in several jobs with deaf coworkers
Happy to live in the same world with that amazing person...That was amazing.
His performance tells us that “The Voice” is not about being literally vocal. The song translates passion and courage
Every now and then I come back to watch this video to excite me. Greetings from Italy
Wow! When I am watching this video it feels like I want to cry.. I don't know what's going on with me but you know the feeling that you want to cry... This is so very inspiring video that I've ever seen...my heart melts to this... Job well done.. Congratulations..
Hearing people can enjoy the visual element signing brings to the songs as well. I particularly love watching a passionate translator perform ASL.
Very surprised he picked george, I thought one of the two ladies with sign language experience was kind of the better route.. Hope it worked well for him either way!
Yes! I thought he pick Delta.
It didn’t worked that well, he was eliminated in the battles
Really? Oh no
I mean, it's like thinking that you'll always feel closer from someone who speaks your own language
It's not always the case.
It can help making a connection, but it doesn't do the alchemy of 2 ppl (he probably wanted to go with him anyway)
My English is worse every day so I hope you won't take it as an attack, but more as it is : an other point of view ^^
I’m not crying… you are 😭
This is so raw!
So powerful!
I just cried.
Cheers to differently abled individuals!!!!
Wow. Heart is melting right now. How amazing for someone to share the magic and emotion of music with those that can't hear but feel!!!! ❤🙏
You moved me to tears and I am not deaf . I met a little girl last week who was deaf and I wanted to talk to her . Without knowing sign with her mom they taught me a couple words . What a beautiful day ❣️ I am glad you picked George.
This is amazing to me, I love Sign language so much that I want to teach and translate for kids who have trouble with hearing and talking
Bro, im a white, straight, male, middle class person from the supposedly Western World, with no real problems whatsoever, but I wanna thank you for what you did, because you certainly insipred at least a few pple. Thank you and I love you.

That mustache is impressive sir!!!!
You are and exceptional individual,, Who able to see beyond Yourself Physically Mentally and Spiritually,,

Outstanding signing (singing) out of the box!!
This guy is amazing I cry whenever I see this
my mind has been expanded through this performance. it makes sense that different countries have accents for English but i never knew there were country specific verwsions of sign language. this was beautiful
“And the world will be as one 🎶”
I was instantly touched. I felt so much love in his singing and when he used his vocal cords to continue his voice, I balled!!! Amazing!!!
I did some signing & singing to a song years ago in school. The teacher really seemed to like it. I wish it was more trendy. I don't understand why not. To me it really brings out more expression of the music and the audience always seems to love it.
that was BEAUTIFUL and I'm so impressed with the judges and the crowd that instantly started signing.
Beautiful. Just beautiful.
How unique! And a wonderful philosopher and communicator!
my tears just started running in my face while watching this video.! I am so touched with his beautiful intention and purpose in life.! Salute to this amazing man.! ❤💙🙏☝

What a beautiful prove of love for his son!! He made it for his son. This is incredible how a dad can do anything for his/their child!
The chillssss I LOVE IT that The Voice participants are going out and showing their own unique advocacies and passion now more than ever. It shows pretty much that it's not too late to show and let others realize the diversity of humanity. Thank you. ❤️❤️❤️
The fact Delta pickee that right up and went right in on the signing made me happy
Slowly, we will make a better place, one person at a time.. You have to start somewhere on a big stage and this is your stage!!
What a great man.
What a good soul.
God bless you!
What a beautiful sight to experience....I hope he goes far in this competition

Wow, no dejo de llorar con esta interpretación 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽 Mis Respetos para este cantante. 🤩🤩
I remember going to a concert somewhere years ago. The students were signing as they were singing, most magical moment in my life. Yeah, you can go to a concert and go, that was great! But was it truly magical? Did it bring tears to your eyes?
we have one song in or concert program where we sign the chorus. it's my absoulte favourite. would love to see it more often!
This is the most beautiful and genuine type of Love i've ever seen
This really melted my heart and made me emotional. This was so touching.
