Hey Ola. I wanted your opinion on something. I know it's not intended to be as this, but how would you deal to use something like a Mooer GE300, using full cab sim and IR, through a combo amplifier, simply using the input plug of it. Guitar -> GE300 -> Fender combo amp ? :p Can it chug ? Challengeable ? :p
@@pedrolourenco2707 A high gain amp boosted into even higher gain by 2 EQ pedals is bound to make a lot of hiss regardless. A lot of frequencies that produce hiss will get boosted. That's why noisegates are a thing.
@@chaptermasterpedrokantor1623 In this case a noise gate pedal won't help much. You get silence in the pauses, but the hiss overlapping the sound is really on your face all the time.
Seems legit to me. Read somewhere that Dime’s guitar was barely controllable, with all the noise, hiss and feedback coming through because everything was driving the amps like mad. He was just a master of controlling the madness 🤘
No tubes in that amp either. That MXR didn't used to have a power plug, so back in the day you had to remember to change the battery before every show. A lesson I never really learned when I was playing shows in the '70s. Ola is like the librarian of the "Sounds of Dimebag Museum". Thanks!

Makes me laugh when people who aren't a fan of Dime/his tone post negative comments on a video that's obviously about him. If you're not a fan, just move on...
Man I love Master Effects, I'm glad to see them represented here. I use their Marauder pedal as my main tone, which is a pedal clone of the old tealstripe Peavey Bandit 112/Supreme 160. Classic Black & Death metal in a pedal
Respect to all the youtubers who try but I've never heard anyone cover the songs and sound of Dime like Ola does, cheers from Vancouver,. Canada. Ola, Ed
Good demo for sure, as always when Ola plays Dimebag-stuff! I think Dime would use a completely different rig nowadays than he used in the '90s. That tone was kinda OK, but the Pantera studio albums became legends not because of the guitarsound but for the overall musical picture. He loved the tightness of his solid state amps and kinda trolled everyone when asking him about using valve amps. I personally prefer his Reinventing the Steel sound to the earlier ones. Would be really interesting to see what he would chose now, maybe he would swap for a modern high-gain tube amp, who knows!
Like ever, Great job Ola. I looking forward to get my first solar guitar soon and all gear again. Sucess always to you. Cheers from brazil, soon Glasgow. Amazing video. 👏👏👏👏🎶🏴🇧🇷
Back in the early eighties, Stryper used the Furman parametric into a Marshall combo, which was slaved into a Boogie power amp. Although their message was silly, they had ungodly tone for the era.
Master Effects is probably super busy. 4-6 weeks build time. Everyone wants their pedals. The EQFH, the Vulgar pedal, the PMEQ Master of Puppets, The Martyr pedal Death, Meshuggah.
OK, You TOTALLY threw a monkey wrench in the pedal-saving strategy I had going on. I searched on Sweetwater and Andertons to find this pedal and put on my "wishlist" but it's not out there. There is a wait to get this pedal, a couple of weeks. But I think this is a great pedal, especially through the fx loop. You can tell as soon as you turn it on you have more frequencies, more rounded sound. I wanted to get one just in case this guy/person stops making them. So I am $249 down on my savings for the new Headrush Prime. Where would I be without you Ola? DIMEBAG for PRESIDENT!! I wish!
I know a dude that's been making these pedals for years. I personally have the PQ3 that I run through a Century 200 also in pedal platform. He can also reproduce the very sought after MXR doubler. That's my next purchase. Very decently priced I might add.
I think the best way to imagine it is that you’re boosting what’s being cut so it makes a different sound So like a cut frequency is gonna sound different than it usually would, but boosting the cut frequency it makes something kinda unique
Great haaaaaasssssssshhhhhhhhhssssshhhhhhhhhh tone right there 😂😂😂😂. Anyway, love the solar (I want a 7 strings one !!!) but maybe with one of your DimeGuitars ir have been way mooore awesome video. Aaaand yes, there is the Dimebag punch and presence with that eq. A really powerful tool.
Hey Ola. Holy shit that green X is one sexy bedst. It's almost a shame that you didn't A/B it with the real Furman, now that you actually have it in your possession. 😊
Does anyone know what amplifier Dime was using in that video when he did the promotional clinic back in the 90’s? I know it was Randall but it seemed to be more chunky in that video than usual. Maybe it is because it was being filmed on a video camera but I swear it sounded soooo pissed off!
i use my furman pq3 in the loop of any amp when im recording, to shape the tone to what im looking for... not just for pantera sounds... i will give this pedal a try someday
Hey Ola! That German store where you bought your RGT100 Tube full stack also has a RGT100 combo version. If you're interested I can take a couple of pictures and hook you up with my friend who works there.
I think it would be cool if you had your complete dimebag tone chasing rig as well as a “functioning rig” of sorts. Use this pedal as well as the newer mxr eq to cut down noise and boost reliability. Just my 2 cents.
With that amount of gain all the frequencies get distorted anyway, so you don't really change the tone, you change the amount of distortion to each affected band, so you get control on attack and body more than to the tone itself. The parametric Eq could be usefull to cut the ring coming from the tremolo springs, or any other resonance that would become problematic with all the gain in post. Problem I hear is that the hiss produced is very noticeable even over the notes, so not even a noise gate will save that.
Ola have you demoed the crybaby from hell? I get super tight crunchy tones with it, mainly use it as a boost to just tighten things up it definitely has a dime sound to it
I have the pq-4 and pq-3. So took me only 20 year to finally nail dimes tone. Think of the PQ as guitar exciter plug Guitar direct into low input cut at 120 hz 3db then boost 850 wide and 3khz wide and then 10k boost 3db. Go directly into EQ pedal with sad face 100 at zero and 400 and 800 all the way 3k just a tad. Put in noise gate after all that directly into amp. OMG when i figure this out and turned on my MXR flanger I was like if only i could play like dimebag did. I hung onto this gear for many years hoping to one day figure this out. so key was cutting the 120 down lowers the noise floor and mxr boost it back at 200 hz makes it sound full again. Weird but if you have one revisit it . also tried same technique with emgs and little different and was like holy cow!> EMG are just like dime bucker open it up and you will see 2 blades!
PQ4 is better to me. when you hit the correct settings makes amp sound like razor blades. PQ3 is more suited for effects loop. PQ4 is more for front end of the amp.@@bradyrogers3049
You should try another EQ from this Philippine company called DB effects. I think they did a better job copying the old parametric EQ that Dimebag use to have. And they also made a copy of the flanger/doubler and turned it into a pedal.
Hi Mr. Englund I would like you to test this pedal and some others but the ESP LTD KH-602 I have this guitar and I would like to know what are the ranges of the EMG Bonebreakers all the videos on these only play stuff from the band, I don't want to play only Metallica stuff. This was sorely needed, prices on PQ3s (even broken ones) have been mental for a while now. Excellent addition to the market.
It almost sounds like a wah pedal that’s been engaged and rolled back a little bit, but stationary. It has that slight quack to it. I like it!

OLA you are a true Humanitarian......SKAAL.
If I'm not mistaken Dime use to use a flanger as a filter to make the tone a bit creamier as well. I read it in a guitar mag back in the late 90s.
That was for his solos. At least that’s what I was told. haha

Picked up the Cross pedal recently from ME. Great sounding pedal, really nice guy, worth the wait.

Old gear may be hard to find but can always clean scratchy/dirty pots cheaper than buying a new piece... if it works for you... USE IT!
