I saw them twice in Perth in the 90's. The best shows I've ever seen. I remember them launching into Walk and the whole crowd started bouncing. It was so electric that I still get chills today just thinking about it.
@@ryanday9288 I think it was better live than on the albums. Pantera's road crew were honed over the years and knew how to create a killer live sound. Dime's guitar tech really knew his business.
My original account has been watching you for 11 years. I believe hard lines was my first watch of yours. Couldn't remember your name until I looked at my subs. Great to see you still going strong!
All this info you provide is a goldmine for us, these tones are amazing, and learned alot about EQs from your content, thanks man, great to see you making more content, and cherry on the cake is that its a Dimebag video too!
Dude, I've been watching and have subscribed since I saw the Metallica Blackened reverse vid. But this???!!! Griffin awesome. Keep making us happy. Thank you
Zakk could easily get the exact tone he needs. He just doesn't care to use the right equipment, or to learn Darrell's solos correctly. He's over there playing EMGs and totally missing Dime's timing and passion. 😂
KIller tone man! Thanks for showing the four cable NS-2 method too, I had no idea how to use the send return function on my noise suppressor until now. Cheers mate!
Yeah , I agree can't go wrong with EQ pedals . Love that your back ,hope you can start showing some of the guitar riffs used by artist like Dimebag and other including yourself !
Hey mate great video. Basically my preferred guitar effect is the EQ pedal. I experimented with Behringers at first (found them very noisy but they are dirt cheap). Use three of them, one at front, then some dirt then EQ in the middle and end of chain. People thought i was crazy when it comes to EQ but helps me in many ways dealing with different guitars and amps and sound systems.
I think its easier to take an amp that is super mid rangey, and high gain -like an old Peavy Triumph, Peavey Rock Master or ADA MP1. Add a 6+ band EQ like an old DOD or the MXR.. the brand absolutely doesnt matter. Boost the lows and highs and scoop the mids slightly. Now choose a 12" that has tight, fast bass response. Easy way to guage is to chug on a E power chord at the 12 fret. The cabinet should resonate and give your ear drums significant pressure. On the guitar, slap in the upside down Bill Lawrenge or more simply, get an EMG 81. Dimes tone is NOT characteristic of valve tones. I'd guess that he went tube so that at high volumes, it doesnt fall apart into a muddy mess.. like almost all solid state amps do. If you want Dime labeled gear, go ahead and go that route. If you want his tone, follow your ears.
I gotta be honest, new to using EQs, but since I got my MXR 6band, I don;t even turn my OD on anymore. But I am using Fishman pickups, which are a little bright for my liking if I'm honest. So I can't use a lot of OD with them
Love the tone! Having said that, how do you keep from feeding back with those mids up like that live? My gain on my 6505 is on 6, and still bad feedback live doing dimebag stuff. Even with active pickups
Lamb, I have your indentical setup ( EVH 6L6, mxr 6 band, EQFMHL, Washburn Guitar with L500XL ) Just your dry tone, without any single pedals activated sounds so brutal and close. I admittedly dont have the TWO NOTES which is the only thing left to a direct copy of your setup. Without the Two Notes, straight from my Randall XL 412, my tone is unbearably harsh. Is the two notes just that good at shaping the tone? Are you able to get a similar tone, using a traditional cab, without the Two Notes? Needless to say the Captor X will be my next purchase. Just a tad expensive!
Long time Dime fan here. My jaw dropped when you got that tone from a 5153. I've had the Randall Centuries, 80's RG100's, warheads and and X2 Randall. You nail the tone. I'm going to give this a whirl with mine when I get the EQFH.
Another great video my friend. I do have to say if it wasn't for you putting out videos and me going back and watching all of your videos on the Marshall DSL 20 head, and all the great settings you recommend and show to the RUclips audiences just grateful that you do that. I played for many years but have taken literally 12 years off because of major injuries so I'm getting back into it and trying my best and your videos keep me moving motivated. So please keep on putting out your videos they are greatly appreciated to even the smallest 51-year-old newbie back to a guitar than ever. Thank you for everything,
Same here man, he got me back into it after 12 years off and the DSL vids got me back into it because he hacked numerous good tones out of an affordable amp and a couple pedals... now I'm just deciding which amp to get next and I'm leaning towards the 5153. Especially if more content for tone hacks comes out. Chopper just nails tones and plays amazing as well, one of my favorite channels.
I actually started watching you years ago when I had no intentions of playing guitar I just found it interesting, then about 6 months ago actually started playing so its even more interesting now.
I got this eq off your recommendation, it's good. I've got it running in the fx loop of my mark iv and it doesn't seem as effective as yours. Maybe my eq was faulty?
They never sound as sensitive playing through a cab in the room. It’s not until you mic them up and sit with headphones that you get the subtle effect. I’m sure there’s nothing wrong with the eq but the guys at master effects will certainly help with any concerns
Welcome back mate. Thank you for doing another great video. Dime sure had so many tunes over the years and I just love how he mixed his sound. Lets see how Zakk pulls it off when he joins Rex and Phil for this Pantera reunion. I've one Question that I'd like to ask you and that is. Does it matter what size picks you use when your playing any Pantera songs ?
Insane setup, lamb! Is there any chance of we see you doing your best (about tone) playing Floods outro? Ps: Its awesome to see how far your channel goes

It doesn’t enhance the tone, it sounds pretty much the same as when I mic a cab. I’ve heard there’s a lot of variations between the 5150s though
