Great movie with many layers of meaning. The surface one is that Conan smashed the sword and moved the skeleton so it seems to bow to him. Another layer is that Conan is destined to great things and is worthy of carrying the sword from their ancestors, the atlanteans.
The writing on the blade were (as per John Milius claim) "Suffer no guilt ye who wields this in the name of Crom"....tho that implies that Crom was also worshipped by the Atlantians as well as the Cimmerians
Its not a king, its a giant, and by that I do not mean a tall human, its a giant, with a sword that is human sized, but too small for the giant, look at its hand next to the sword.
The juxtapose of this scene always struck me hard…a slave who is alive and on the run finds his refuge in the tomb of a king who is dead. He gains his freedom from a powerful man long gone. Complete opposite ends of the spectrum in every way possible. The lowest of society before the highest of society, seeking sincere help and receiving it
You can only have a great Kingdom if you have the strength to make, and defend it! And the wisdom to know when to use it! Conan knows and understands this, and he shows respect to those who came before him ... something needed today.

In the original story the corpse comes alive and attacks Conan for taking his blade.Something the fans were expecting but it didn’t happen.

I agree. There were quite a few vague and ambiguous scenes in that movie.

Atlantean sword is in fact short in human proportions for a hand and a half sword. The fact is that it is a single hand sword for a giant (atlantean).
