So........ What you're NOT saying is that America's democracy, like the sword, is fractured and broken? Just so I'm clear...... That's what you're NOT saying?
@@PJTForging That's what you get for following instructions! I kid, I love Arnie but I'm probably not gonna take any blacksmithing lessons from him......
@@NotBOB-81 Arnie did quite well as Guvnor and was well liked and respected by most Californians. He did 2 terms as Guvnor which is all Californian law allows like the 2 term limit of Pres. of Yankland. Can't blacksmith for s**t though.
I know next to nothing about metalurgy, but Crom is going to cast Arnold out of Valhalla and laugh at him because he damn sure doesn't know the riddle of steel.
Just looking at that first test, you are NOT supposed to do that with a sword, any sword. Contrary to hollywood epics, you parry with the flat of the blade not the edge, or else that happens, and the two blades bite together, potentially causing weaknesses that would lead to the blade snapping. Edge to edge contact occurs when somebody screws up.
This looked so much worse on video! 😅 I remember at the time maneuvering the steel in the tongs to an angle I wanted, but yeah... definitely doesn't look great when played back. 😂
I mean, would you REALLY expect Schwarzenegger to understand how forging a sword works? The guy made his name by lifting heavy objects, not heavy concepts.
To funny. Lol don’t take it literally lol I think we knew what he meant. Lol 😂 But great video. Way to make a funny out of the Situation and I’m sure Arnie would laugh given the context. Good stuff
I think Arnold had the right idea but in the wrong order . Heat it, pound it, quench in the cold water. then heat it, pound it again, and quench it in the cold water 🤷♂️
.. and your humor is great. Though I am a bit puzzled regarding Arnold's knowledge in metallurgy. However, he was a theif, a barbarian, finally ending up as a king, which does excuse his rather limited skills in sword making. What is important is that he knows how to whield a sword, something I understand he's masters very well.
I think of strength in a blade with the idea of able to bend without breaking. Not so much an edge toughness test. Tempering more would achieve this. So to me Arnie would be right. As for the rest...weeeeellll... No more needs to be said. Good vid. Made me laugh.

@@Bridgercraft likewise! The man is a legend. 😂
The fact that California elected him should to you something. The fact he is no longer governor also says alot.

You got that right.
It's because you don't know the riddle of steel. Crom laughs at you from his mountain.
he confused the swords, so his father's sword was forged. And finally it broke
I'm not a smart man, but I wouldn't stick a hot blade in a snow bank.
I guess nobody taught Arnold that forging, hardening and tempering are actually three different steps!
that first one was a nice durable temper
One small statment explains it all " screw your freedom "
He's using Hollywood blacksmithing, by that standart he's right.
Man this was great! Beautifully put, especially the end (I wouldn't touch that either) hahaha. Great video, keep up thre awesome work!👍⚒
Cheers Joe! Glad you enjoyed it! 😁
As soon as I heard Arnold say that I too was saying "Uh, haven't you ever watched 'forged in fire? That doesn't sound right".
I feel like he was trying to give more of a life lesson thing with the sword as analogy, but a fun experiment all the same.
Oh undoubtedly! But there is always something fun about being pedantic, and choosing to take somebodies poetic words literally. 😅
Haha, that was wonderful - you captured the first strike after hardening so well!
Thanks! 😂
It seems that Arnold missed the tempering stage tutorial! ....also seems to have gotten the forging + hardening stages a bit mixed up...
there are a lot of passionate people who dont know wtf theyre talking about
Ha! Poor Arnie, and he would have gotten away with it too if it wasn’t for that meddling blacksmith.
Sword knowledge aside... he did still kill Predator. 😂

I agree, I was just showing the most effective way to demonstrate edge retention. :)
Oh!!! U destroyed that bar of steel. 🤣🤣🤣🤣
I only did as I was told. 😉
2:58 sheesh that was close

The riddle of steel can be learned through any metallurgy class at a junior college

Then use another analogy you understand
the exact reason he shouldnt be talking about politics.,..
I love his speach, its very moving. But this video was funny.
Oh I enjoyed it too. Just couldn't let this slide. 😂
@@PJTForging the thought of Arnold Schwarzenegger just describing beating hot metal is just metal. Doesn't get much more metal than that.
Bad analogy Arnold - .Hilarious Video Phil.
Cheers Mathew! :)

Lol arnold needs to watch forged in fire
😅
No one ever told Arny the shecret of shteel. Besides this is like taking boxing advice from Stallone.
And for the Republic for which it stands , um not a sword . Republic .

Good video.
Thanks! :)
O Arnold disse:
Primeiro: aquecer.
Segundo: martelar.
Terceiro: temperar.
Nessa ordem repetindo em diversos ciclos.
I think Arnold had the right idea but in the wrong order . Heat it, pound it, quench in the cold water. then heat it, pound it again, and quench it in the cold water 🤷♂️
Heat, pound, heat pound, heat pound, quench when done, then temper.
To be fair, in other languages tempering is quenching.
0:37 Quanto mais tentam melhorar a democracia, pior fica!!!🤣🤣🤣
Arnold may have gotten the privilege to portray Conan, but outside the film in real life he’s always been a fudd.
Fractured!
For sure!

Fair point, though I'd argue a steel bar will bend without breaking, doesn't make a good sword though. 😉
