Lyrics -
They should do a reboot
Of that movie Paul
The one with the alien
I don’t remember it at all
But I saw it with my mom
In a movie theater
If they do the reboot
I’ll see it with her
Do you say roundabout
Or rotary
Either way you’re going in circles
Do you want to know me
When it came to you
It was never take or leave her
I hope that Anne Frank
Would’ve been a Belieber
Familiarity
Is a funny thing
It can be so comfy
But it can also sting
Like a hug from a bear
Before it attacks
I’ll act like I don’t care
You’re not coming back
If I went in
For a high five
Would you slap me some skin
Or leave me out to dry
Playing kickball at recess
With my best friend
I saw a rich man crying
In his Mercedes Benz
Jared from Subway
Seems like a nice guy
I’m sorry that last line
Was written in 2005
Look at this pair of pants
They don’t fit me anymore
I’ll go to the front doctor
When my back is sore
Familiarity
Is a funny thing
It can be so comfy
But it can also sting
Cookie dough on a spoon
Rammed in your eye
Did you have to go so soon
I think I’m a good guy
They did surgery on a grape
What is the point
8 billion anxious apes
Let’s blow this joint
Shrek ketchup is green
And so is my stool
Crying in the shed
I ain’t the sharpest tool
I picked you up in my van
And I felt so good
Newspaper said a wolf
Killed red riding hood
Skipping is much more silly
And yet I choose to run
Goodness gracious
Who gave him a gun
Familiarity
Is a funny thing
It can be so comfy
But it can also sting
Tears on your cheek
Licked by a happy dog
Do you think sometime next week
We can go for a walk

looks like Trent won't be the only one who's gonna be Grammy nominated
This song is almost as emotionally in-depth as Trent's song "Music"
It's like all the random thoughts that go through your head when you're trying to get your mind off something, and it is amazing.
You have a way of evoking the most obscure feelings. Uncomfortable humor, heartfelt awkwardness, and now a strange sort of sad silliness. You are a marvel, Joel. An Artist.
What percentage of people do you think you could get to wear those green screen suits and go about their day for a day?, is there a day where people do that? Instead of closing down streets to buisness to shoot movies could you just hand out thses suits and film a ghost movie where the background is just dogs with walking leashes and diners full of moving utensils, ah the faces would beed to be open, ah well im stoping thinking here
Joel, there's a level of sincerity in your work that gives me hope for the internet as a place for creativity. Whenever I feel myself getting jaded with the fakeness of online culture, I know I can always come to this channel for something that feels like it came from a human being.
My favorite part was when he took off the green suit and yelled "It's green man time!" And started greening all over the place
This song reminds me of my dad, and how if time were going backwards, he would have his whole life ahead of him.
Awesome job, Joel!
Love you Joel ❤️
"Crying in the shed, I ain't the sharpest tool,,
Joel excells at everything he creates and we're all here for it.
Joel - This is your best hit since “Together we Watched Snakes on a Plane.” Thanks ❤
That line about Jared - another way to lose someone. Finding out they've been a monster along.
Some of these shots would make the best album covers to ever exist
This video was just a treat for his fellow video editor fans. We're going to have a field day with these greenscreen costumes. Thank you, Joel.
This was stunning. Funny, goofy and heart wrenching all at once.
Thanks Joel. I don't know if I understand the meaning behind this, but thanks for being a role model in showing healthy emotional masculinity. You're basically the Aragorn of RUclips.
Joel, I just wanna let you know I love ya, man. Hope to keep seeing you around. Much love brother.
I started off thinking this song was a little too strange and disjointed and it just wasn't for me. But I kept watching and at some point, the purpose and message of this video finally clicked and by the end I was shedding tears. This is an amazingly beautiful song. One made by someone who doesn't care about looking perfect. A real human on the internet. No over-the-top jokes, no need for pace-breaking bits, and no exaggerated online persona. The sincerity in this piece is palpable. We've all been here at one point or another and this is a beautiful artistic depiction of what it feels like.
