The pressure to complete our basement renovation quickly is mounting. Brandon is such a gem. Such thoughtful gifts for the whole family. Wonderful to hear his conversation and to see what he is doing.
I also loved getting to see more of him working today ❤
One thing I know is that this show would NEVER happen without Allie. She's reminding Trent of what he doesn't want to be reminded of (check twice, cut once), she's got the camera work, the editing work, cleanup, and other stuff tossed in. Love seeing you all and love how you've all become one big family while working on these projects!

Glow in the dark neon paint works great for recovery. They glow in the dark making your lawn look cool but I didn’t use it on tiny balls..lol

Whiffle balls are better and already sold in neon colors. Adults can take a full swing and the ball only goes a few yards. Perfect for practice.
To help with your icy drive and, well, icy everything. A tip I got when we moved out to our rural property on a hill is to spread the ashes from the wood stove (cold, naturally 😊). That stuff works like Velcro. Seriously. A little goes a long way, too!

Allie you're not the only one who likes to rearrange furniture. My mom went so far to have a to scale folder for each room with paper pieces to scale of the furniture for each room so she could see how everything fit.

I loved this episode so much. I also enjoyed the little bit when Brandon was explaining what was going to be done and when and how. He should narrate a show on occasion. Also, I cannot wait to find out who the room is for. It's like some gameshow "Mystery Guest."

Carpet in a basement known to flood is bad. I'd have gone with at least 6 inches of cement board along the bottom of the drywall for the same reason. 1st time it floods / backs up into the basement you'll regret not taking into consideration... I'd use runners and rugs, much cheaper to replace.

Well Trent your definitely getting better at taping and mudding 😂now use a stainless steel trowel to do your top coat instead of a putty knife and your job will go 10 times faster 👍🏻😂

All you need is one WIDE blade and mudding those straight seams would be a breeze. The narrower blade you're using leaves too much room for error. The wide blade bridges the entire depression where the tape is applied. I learned this the hard way. Apply mud with the narrower blade and spread it with a wide blade. Makes life easier Trent.
I made a similar comment Curtis, I use a 12 inch drywall stainless steel trowel to do the Finnish , much easier on the wrist and does a better job = less sanding 😁👍🏻

I have a question. I noticed you screwed the drywall right to the ductwork. Is it fiberglass or metal? It looks like metal on the video. If it’s metal, Most builders will frame around the duct leaving a 1/4 to 1/2 inch gap between the duct and framing to accommodate the expansion and contraction of the ductwork. This is to avoid cracking of the drywall spackled seems & corners. Metal duct will also expand & contract with temper change, it will expand just with the blower coming on & off. The fan will pressurize and expand the duct when its on then shrink when it off. It’s minimal but enough to crack spackled joints.

Get the best pad you can under the carpet in the bedroom. It will make the floors warmer and nicer to walk on.

Allie I understand the moving furniture. I do the same. Just moving things around gives you more room where you think jeez why didn't I do this earlier! Moving your table back up against the wall opened up your room. Now your adorable little Leo has more room to play. He is a mini me of his Da Da! He is so cute and a smart little guy. You can tell that both you and Trent spend a lot of time with him reading and teaching. I remember a video a long way back where you were upstairs and you yelled "He's a genius!" Such is a mother's love! It's SO refreshing to see young parents who love their child so much and give him so much encouragement to be the best he can be It is so wonderful to see. Trent, I have a friend who’s been a “Mudder” all his adult life. To watch him work, is like watching a machine. It’s as if he can walk around a room without stopping, and have it finished. I have been using an inversion table for 13 years now and can’t live without it. I have a deteriorating L5 disc causing sciatica and the hanging pulls the disc open.

Orr $10 bucks or so you can buy plastic hand carriers at box stores for the drywall and you can run with them if you want to .

Great decision to change the table/desk orientation. It really opens the mud/play room up and gives you a glance out the window view instead of looking at a wall. The basement is looking good! Daaaaaang, quick work today! And as much as you hate drywall....it went super fast. I hate drywall too. I didn't use any in my tiny cabin I'm building. I used 1/2 ply on my walls along with rough cedar and beard board.

Good morning ☀️ I don’t like drywall ceilings for that purpose. If you have a leak or you want to get into check something you have to cut into the drywall. Then it’s a basement I always put in drop ceiling. You might lose an inch or two of height, but it’s worth it for the ability to get into it.

You just faced problem that we don't really have in Oz, that is the need to run much larger wire gauge to your power services. So much copper, costs a lot more of course.

Coming along great guys , the finish line is clearly in sight, odd choice to screw drywall directly to the vents/ductwork tho, never seen that b4 , usually u box it out so hopefully that doesn't cone back to bite u in the butt

Allie, I agree about moving furniture every few months! If you’re going to move furniture to clean around, behind, and under, why not give your home a fresh look and feel, and your mood a boost at the same time? At least, that’s my philosophy!
