Hi Karen, it's so well explained , and you show so well how much the painting needs to dry to create an amazing atmosphere. Beginners are in such a hurry to make a masterpiece that they forget to let it dry and to fine-tune the details :-)

Maybe it is the summer heat, but somehow I felt very drawn to painting an atmospheric autumnal landscape. Thanks to you and your great explanations I had a wonderful time painting this forest scene. I loved this tutorial and gave it a go, to tremendous success! It's challenging to have a limited palette but stretches us as artists to mix colours while aiming for a unified result. I appreciated the little details and strategies like lifting behind the trees to create backlight. It adds realism and charm.

Beautiful, Karen! I so love the look and feeling of nature. I've just decided to try my hand at watercolor and have slowly been assembling the needed materials. Hello Karen, truly amazing! Thank you for such a spectacular lesson, I appreciate your informing us when to allow paint to dry. Would you please tell me what kind of paper you are using for water paint - and how you protect your master pieces from fading as a result of exposure to the air over the course of time?
Thank you, really pleased you found this helpful. I use 300gsm / 100% cotton paper. I either store my paintings in a portfolio or frame them behind UV glass.
Hello Karen, thank you for responding. From your reply I understand that your main concern is to protect the image from sun light or indirect sunlight, in your opinion does the issue of atmospheric expossure also play a relevant part in decomposure or not?
As long as the paper is acid free and you frame it with acid free mount, it should be ok. I am no expert. I leave that to my framer 😊
