I’ve been carrying this gun for about 4 years now. No difference between this and a 2.0 model at all. It’s a very accurate soft shooter with a great trigger. Very underrated pistol. Only drawbacks are limited capacity and lack of after market extended base plates and Magguts spring kits to extend the capacity.

.45acp catches a lot of crap these days but it’s still a viable cartridge. I mostly carry/shoot 9mm but wouldn’t hesitate to use .45acp for defense. If I did, I wouldn’t carry the traditional 230gr 850fps load though. I think that’s where a lot of the hate comes from and they’re not completely wrong. I’d use 185gr +P for defense.

I love mine.Bought it 8 years ago when they first came out.Been carring it concealed ever since.I have other M&P's,Glocks,Sigs but I always prefer the Sheild for carry. It's an accurate gun for being short barreled and to me it has less recoil than my Glock 30 and is alot lighter and slimmer than my Glock 30

I have this exact same setup, love my 45, put 50 rounds through it the other day and another 50 through my 9m. I’ve never thought the recoil on the .45 was bad, not a lot more than a compact 9mm. Love the CYA holsters, very minimalist and extremely comfortable.

Had one for a few now and it has been just outstanding!
No failures of any kind come to mind.
As a tool, I just shoot it and tend to disregard things like a hinged trigger, grip size or grip angle.
Love that it is a .45 and on my model the recoil is not an issue whatsoever!
It conceals very well and is just a hair bigger and heavier that my Shield and Shield Plus.
The only downside for me is the lower capacity.
I always make a point of carrying two reloads but with this gun I often throw another mag in my pocket in addition. That should keep me out of the poo poo?
    Nice nice gun! Enjoy yours!

With the addition of the night sights, brand is tops but due to it's used status, can't be sure they are the right ones?
Surprised most of the level one makers don't ship everything with night sights and slides cut for optics?

    • @williamryan9195
      @williamryan9195 3 месяца назад

I tried both the Hogue and Pachmayr grip sleeve and the biggest problem is both brands were working their way down the stock and on a coupe sessions found them interfering on reloads, The edge of the grip sleeve gets caught and enters the mag well. The Pachmayr did off more palm swell between the two.But the real solution is a fatter grip from the factory.

Awesome Model, I've had this since their initial release. For me it was the introduction into the M2.0. S&W has done an excellent job with Shield. 9 is prevalent in these times but can't go wrong with this 45. Add a + baseplate from Hyve or Tyrant and good to go. 👌

Can you get .400 Cor-Bon barrels for it? If not, does the .45's barrels external dimensions the same as the .40S&W? Then you could at least ream out the chamber and make your own. Because .45ACP out of a 3 inch barrel is kind of suboptimal. Converting the .40S&W over to .357 Sig really wakes these things up. A .400 Cor-Bon conversion would be even better. Also once I learned what the internal operating mechanism of these guns really is, I quickly lost enthusiasm. At the end of the day, they are just single actions, and if you carry one around with a round in the chamber, you're carrying around a cocked and locked pistol. Well great. It's actually WORSE than carrying a 1911, because at least with the 1911, you can decock the hammer and make it a little bit safer. Here you're just depending on the flimsy internal safety that you "just have to trust". Yeah no thanks!!!! It's just like a Glock which has thousands of negligent discharges every year. I'd rather just stick with a 1911. If you want something "mini" there's plenty of opitons, from Detonics Combat Master, to Para-Ornance Carry , to Rock Island Arsenal BBR 3.10.

I don’t know what ammunition you’re using if you think this is a soft shooting gun. That’s nonsense and it’s irresponsible of people who say that; it’s a small .45 and feels like it. It’s very accurate but it’s not “fun” to shoot. By contrast I can shoot a few hundred rounds of .44 magnum through my S&W 629 at the range because it weighs 45 ounces. That’s not the case with this light and highly concealable carry gun. Best Regards sir

@@MDpolo I don't see the reason anymore to spend .70¢ per round of 230gr ball when 9mm is literally half the cost especially after the great ammo shortage of 2020 when you couldn't find anything and when stuff was coming back in stock all you could find was 5.56 and 9 mm, also looks like the terminal ballistic advantage is marginal. Handguns be handguns. The advantage of the .45 ACP stopping power is a myth, kinda of bummed me out since I bought into it in the 2010s.

@@FearNoSteel I’m not disagreeing with you. I’m simply saying that locally I’ve seen a lot of people recently switching to 45 ACP. I haven’t done an investigation as to why. Just what I’ve observed.

Nonsense. Tell that to all my 1911s that get their range exercise twice a month, particularly the TRP Operator. And, I do love my Nighthawk Shadowhawk 1911 in 9mm. Best Regards

I'm not so sure about that. I think in my case, for some reason I am accurate with this weapon. Maybe it's that unique 45ACP recoil impulse that appeals to me? I had an original "gen 1" version and it was very uncomfortable shooting. However, a # of years later I tried the 2.0 version and found it much better to shoot. Not sure why. Maybe it's just me! Either way, it has become my primary EDC.
