2019 Honda CB300R : Retro meets Tron : PowerDrift

- While most modern classics are still stuck in the 1970s, the Honda CB300R is a retro motorcycle with a modern twist. With a neo-retro styling that steals the spotlight everywhere it goes, modern suspension and brakes and a familiar 30bhp 286cc engine, it seems to cover all bases. But then, is this enough to justify the Rs 2.41 lakh price tag?

CB300R is a proper neo-retro and has got Honda's reliability. Hit that Like button if you'd put your money on this. And remember to tell us below, what you think about the motorcycle.
Rays new episode
Price is one thing, but if honda could get the faired version of this. People will go mad. Upside down forks, international product and everything honda. When bmw touches 4 lakhs mark, this price is not so skyhigh. After saying all these, i just got my interceptor, is that price justified? Not exactly, it has not so upto the mark components and the rear suspension bolt got lose, and the mirrors are out of alignment. But still the engine worth every penny. So ultimately its not the price, its the mindset you ride with.
Lol, yup @Jatin the CB300R does make a case for itself and Ray to consider.
We would agree with you @Abhishek, if the two are considered purely from a pricing perspective then the RE Conti GT does make sense but on the other hand, you have the Honda offering you a motorcycle that's neo-retro in styling that brings modern LED headlights, weighs nearly 50kg lesser thus compensating the power deficit with agile, sporty handling and decent performance that'll work well in the city and on the highway.
So true and it's also what one is looking for, the appeal of an Interceptor may not be attractive to someone looking for a modern design language and lightweight performance. That said, the Indian Market does favour full fairings over street fighters and such a motorcycle would surely give Honda an edge over the competition.
Shumi starts working with them and the video production becomes faster as he promised. 2 days vs 2 weeks difference! Short and Crisp video. Nice work PD!
No sir. This is a video, its not a 2 minute maggi noodles. Nobody cares if they have yo wait for PD. People will see PD even if they have seen others for the same reason. You got one chance to make it. Make it the best. This is no a review. Isse accha PD music daal k bike shoot kar lete. That would have been better. Shumi does not talk true Powerdrift. Power/weight ratio means a lot
CB300R - 30 Hp - 147 kg
RR 310 - 34 Hp - 169.5 kg
Duke 390 - 43.5 Hp - 163 kg
Int 650 - 47 Hp - 212.2 Kg (with fuel)
Dominar - 40 Hp - 184 Kg
Calculate Power/weight ratio & you will understand that cb300r is no slouch.

Ekdam thik koisa.
Well, that was done only for shoot purposes. A saree guard is mandated by law and is necessary for regular riding.

Fell in love with my CB300R again after watching this video! Awesome cinematography PD!
Have been watching reviews of this bike since the last few hours, but now when I saw PD's video, it's absolutely clear as to why these guys are the best when it comes to Indian motoring journalism. Miles ahead other channels and in a league of its own. Keep going guys, you make the wait worth it.
Thanks a tonne, Dhvanan!

Cheers PD! ❤
Thanks, Eswar!
It would've made more sense if it was released in 2016
Do you think it would have sold more if it was launched in 2016?
This is a perfect time if it was locally manufactured than the aggressive price makes it sell more.....But still as it has a good hardware it may survive
Now that is called a review👍👍👍lov u GUYS ☺️☺️
Short and sweet video, PD.
However as an ex KTM owner who really took care of his bike, I need to add a point here which many fail to bring forth. After sales. Since KTM has way fewer models and number of bikes running around compared to the other brands in this price bracket (other than Kawasaki and BMW), what I had experienced was that the service personnel of KTM had much fewer bikes to deal with on a daily basis. This meant that the bikes got better individual attention. This low number also meant that you could approach and make rapport with the service guys which I cannot say for all the other brands I've experienced. Even though the KTMs are a bit more heavy on maintenance, the fact that I could drop my bike off and get it back in an hour or three from the service center with every problem thoroughly addressed was a huge relief. The only regular botheration was that the chain started coming loose every 500kms and occasionally the RC 390 loved to create rattles from places you never knew existed! I wish manufacturers put up separate service centers for their premium offerings just to manage the crowd control. This would make me pick up the new Honda in a jiffy since I'm a short guy and the low weight is a huge boon in the city. I remember having to keep the family RE for two whole days just for the regular service.
Blown away! You guys have nailed it! Great review. But a more comprehensive review would be great to watch.
Thanks for liking the video, bigger thanks for the honest feedback!
I bought mine in black last year. Really lovely bike, great handling. Bought as a first bike

What about after sales service btw where do you live? Which year model do you own ? I'm planning to Duke 390 but ❤ says Honda + new Duke 390 is coming (don't get confuse with adventure 1) 😊
Thanks for saying it, i am fed up of reviews that compare and says “it’s not duke 390” ...
hell yeah its not.. and thats what make it unique and different..!! I test rode it and i am in love with it...!! It do have a punch for highways ...👌
Yuvraj snehal yeah I really agree the fact that 390 is a low quality bike in all way
I own the 2017 390 and the ownership experience with it is just disappointing.
Electronic failure
Bad quality plastics
Poorly refined engine
Lot of vibes
Service is also average
This bike wont be the same after 3-4 month of purchase
Once reach 10-15k km on odo and the bike will give you a hell lot of problems
You don’t get that peace of mind thing
Honda is Honda❤️
nice bike, and nice night setting for the shoot. 👍🏼

☺️ It is expensive for a single, as you mentioned the engine was derived from cb250, cb300r ex showroom is same as cb 250's on road price in Bangalore😢. Also waiting period was 4 months when I enquired on the day of it launch.
Now that's really sad :/
Nice review sir, I am very interested in this bike, Is it worth for 3 lakhs ? I am looking for daily commute (30 kms/day), is this good ?
At this price point , Duke 390 wouldn't let it expand in india.
Your comments are very irrelevant to his.
@शिरीष ರಾಮಾಯ They are known for serious reliability issues outside India. Most people outside will still prefer the R3 or Ninja 400.
A good video, balance of info and the PDness!
I liked this one with #Shumi becoming part of the #PowerDrift way of doing reviews.
We're glad you liked it, Arjun!
Just a correction here guys, the bike weighs 143kg not 147kg. HMSI listed the spec sheet with the 4kg saree guard as standard. So the cb300r is in fact 25kg lighter than the cbr250r
Woah 4kg saree guard are they mad🤯
I went to the dealer to check out this bike and the younger sibling, CB150 . Both had very high-quality components , looked very sleek and well built. I'm considering it
Expensive or not, more power or not, this is a better bike to live with than any other competitor bike.
Honda is a synonym for reliability which you definitely can't expect the same from Bajaj or KTM.
If this fits into your budget, just buy it without thinking twice, your wallet, back and ass will thank you.
I am not a Honda fan, never even owned a Honda but would definitely chose this if give a choice.
Haha, that's quite accurate! But, buying it without thinking? We'd suggest to think beforehand - what is the criteria? what one looks for in a bike.
Reliability and comfort? This!
Performance and value for money? There are many options!
Old school charm in 21st century
Nicely worded!

Love it!! Bought my cb300r a month ago. Smoothest most balanced machine I've ever ridden. It is my 4th moto. Started on 2007 ninja 250, moved onto Er6n, then picked up a Z125... Nothing is as comfortable as my cb300r or as light near this amount of fit, finish & braking power.

@@powerdriftofficial waiting for cbr650r review....
It truly is a special motorcycle. It's a Honda, it's the most beautiful two wheels this side of 7 lacs (till the Husqys arrive) and it's a very good package. Did i mention? It's a Honda! Mr. Shumi, you are a class of your own. The video is crisp and you know exactly everything you want to know to purchase this. Maybe give a little flak for the smallish fuel tank?. The old Duke 390 got so much of it. Apart from that, Me Gusta! Want more. Lots and lots and lots more.
That's a really well-rounded comment! Thanks for the opinion!
I like this new review style
Thanks, Dipanjan!

Everyone is uploading reviews of this bike at the same time yet Powerdrift's review is the best (as always) 🔥
I absolutely love the way thsis bike looks, idk why everyone calls it a cafe racer tho lol, it's more like a neo-retro Streetfighter (kinda like the Yamaha XSR900). Either way, great move by Honda on finally bringing a nice small bike intead of just another activa lol.

I guess this is the same location used in the rd350 video n the next rider???
Everything looks goods except for that chunky old exhaust 😑😑
Should have given an underbelly exhaust.
@@J.Squared. Yep. It would have given an even more sick appeal.
While that may be true, it might be so to adhere to the stringent emissions norms.
I got rid of the rear fender and put a akrapovic muffler on mine and looks ten times better, lost 4kg doing so too
Hey hey heyyy
Why'd you have to cut short those glamorous shots so much . I was really enjoying them.

@Shumi practically lives on a motorcycle so you will definitely see a lot more of him going forward.
If only CB300R had the exhaust note of the H'ness CB350, it would have developed a cult following.

@@shu_mar No. But. I'd love to see Ray get his hands on a bike. Lol.
Talking about the Honda CB300R, the design is not a breath of fresh air but it can still be your daily freshness. This bike is something you would like to hop on everyday & ease out in the city. It can even be your weekend getaway up the hilly stretch with a little light off-roading. The power may not seem much on papers, but again practically, being almost 25 kgs lighter than the CBR 250, it has that extra punch & can be your daily dose of refinement as well. Coming with a price tag of Rs.2.41 lakhs, it might be a little heavy on your pockets, but someone wanting that Honda badge for a long time & had just one option can now go ahead with the CB300R to get that extra attention. Again coming to the point my friends, is the price justified?? Well I think it is.
That's a very well worded comment. And very agreeable too. Good job, Rajeev!
@@powerdriftofficial Thanks Team PowerDrift. Your review was awesome as always.
When are you guys going to review the Venue?
Hope they bring back the v twin used in the past like cx500
Nice and compact... light weight and powerful... build quality 🤔??? Is there any compromises???
None that would raise a red flag!
With all the arguments , i still believe ktm390 is still best vfm bike under 3 lakh , tft display , slipper clutch , ride by wire , 320mm disc brake , super moto mode , adjustable levers , and dont forget its made in India thats why its less pricy , u can compare the price in europe and america with its rivals
Not that these bikes are not good but i love riding the ktm’s
Thumbs up for your well-rounded opinion.
2024- which one to choose - pulsar 400z vs Honda 300r vs Honda 300f ? which is the most value for money?
My choices will be like the below:
1. 300R
2. 300R
3. 300R
Uts worth for the price you pay and remember it cant be as abuse friendly as 400z in bad terrains will have Honda written all over it elsewhere. So if it is for your daiky use and occasiknal long rides on decent to excellent roads it is 300R.
You can easily eliminate 300f with just a TD of it alongwith 300r and 400z
