2019 Honda CB300R : Retro meets Tron : PowerDrift

  • While most modern classics are still stuck in the 1970s, the Honda CB300R is a retro motorcycle with a modern twist. With a neo-retro styling that steals the spotlight everywhere it goes, modern suspension and brakes and a familiar 30bhp 286cc engine, it seems to cover all bases. But then, is this enough to justify the Rs 2.41 lakh price tag?

    CB300R is a proper neo-retro and has got Honda's reliability. Hit that Like button if you'd put your money on this. And remember to tell us below, what you think about the motorcycle.

      Price is one thing, but if honda could get the faired version of this. People will go mad. Upside down forks, international product and everything honda. When bmw touches 4 lakhs mark, this price is not so skyhigh. After saying all these, i just got my interceptor, is that price justified? Not exactly, it has not so upto the mark components and the rear suspension bolt got lose, and the mirrors are out of alignment. But still the engine worth every penny. So ultimately its not the price, its the mindset you ride with.

    • @powerdriftofficial
      @powerdriftofficial  5 лет назад +1

      Lol, yup @Jatin the CB300R does make a case for itself and Ray to consider.

    • @powerdriftofficial
      @powerdriftofficial  5 лет назад +4

      We would agree with you @Abhishek, if the two are considered purely from a pricing perspective then the RE Conti GT does make sense but on the other hand, you have the Honda offering you a motorcycle that's neo-retro in styling that brings modern LED headlights, weighs nearly 50kg lesser thus compensating the power deficit with agile, sporty handling and decent performance that'll work well in the city and on the highway.

    • @powerdriftofficial
      @powerdriftofficial  5 лет назад +1

      So true and it's also what one is looking for, the appeal of an Interceptor may not be attractive to someone looking for a modern design language and lightweight performance. That said, the Indian Market does favour full fairings over street fighters and such a motorcycle would surely give Honda an edge over the competition.

    Power/weight ratio means a lot
    CB300R - 30 Hp - 147 kg
    RR 310 - 34 Hp - 169.5 kg
    Duke 390 - 43.5 Hp - 163 kg
    Int 650 - 47 Hp - 212.2 Kg (with fuel)
    Dominar - 40 Hp - 184 Kg
    Calculate Power/weight ratio & you will understand that cb300r is no slouch.

    Short and sweet video, PD.
    However as an ex KTM owner who really took care of his bike, I need to add a point here which many fail to bring forth. After sales. Since KTM has way fewer models and number of bikes running around compared to the other brands in this price bracket (other than Kawasaki and BMW), what I had experienced was that the service personnel of KTM had much fewer bikes to deal with on a daily basis. This meant that the bikes got better individual attention. This low number also meant that you could approach and make rapport with the service guys which I cannot say for all the other brands I've experienced. Even though the KTMs are a bit more heavy on maintenance, the fact that I could drop my bike off and get it back in an hour or three from the service center with every problem thoroughly addressed was a huge relief. The only regular botheration was that the chain started coming loose every 500kms and occasionally the RC 390 loved to create rattles from places you never knew existed! I wish manufacturers put up separate service centers for their premium offerings just to manage the crowd control. This would make me pick up the new Honda in a jiffy since I'm a short guy and the low weight is a huge boon in the city. I remember having to keep the family RE for two whole days just for the regular service.

      Yuvraj snehal yeah I really agree the fact that 390 is a low quality bike in all way
      I own the 2017 390 and the ownership experience with it is just disappointing.
      Electronic failure
      Bad quality plastics
      Poorly refined engine
      Lot of vibes
      Service is also average
      This bike wont be the same after 3-4 month of purchase
      Once reach 10-15k km on odo and the bike will give you a hell lot of problems

    Expensive or not, more power or not, this is a better bike to live with than any other competitor bike.
    Honda is a synonym for reliability which you definitely can't expect the same from Bajaj or KTM.
    If this fits into your budget, just buy it without thinking twice, your wallet,back and ass will thank you.
    I am not a Honda fan, never even owned a Honda but would definitely chose this if give a choice.

    • @powerdriftofficial
      @powerdriftofficial  5 лет назад +1

      Haha, that's quite accurate! But, buying it without thinking? We'd suggest to think beforehand - what is the criteria? what one looks for in a bike.

      Performance and value for money? There are many options!

Mr. Shumi, you are a class of your own. The video is crisp and you know exactly everything you want to know to purchase this. Maybe give a little flak for the smallish fuel tank?. In that price range wouldn’t it be up against the 650 twins ? And that’s an international bike too. Which is more bang for your buck a single cylinder or a parallel twin giving you a lot more bhp

    Talking about the Honda CB300R, the design is not a breath of fresh air but it can still be your daily freshness. This bike is something you would like to hop on everyday & ease out in the city. It can even be your weekend getaway up the hilly stretch with a little light off-roading. The power may not seem much on papers, but again practically, being almost 25 kgs lighter than the CBR 250, it has that extra punch & can be your daily dose of refinement as well. Coming with a price tag of Rs.2.41 lakhs, it might be a little heavy on your pockets, but someone wanting that Honda badge for a long time & had just one option can now go ahead with the CB300R to get that extra attention. Again coming to the point my friends, is the price justified?? Well I think it is.

    With all the arguments , i still believe ktm390 is still best vfm bike under 3 lakh , tft display , slipper clutch , ride by wire , 320mm disc brake , super moto mode , adjustable levers , and dont forget its made in India thats why its less pricy , u can compare the price in europe and america with its rivals
    Not that these bikes are not good but i love riding the ktm’s

    2024- which one to choose - pulsar 400z vs Honda 300r vs Honda 300f ? which is the most value for money?

    • @Toll-Traveller
      @Toll-Traveller Месяц назад +1

      My choices will be like the below:
      1. 300R
      2. 300R
      3. 300R
      Uts worth for the price you pay and remember it cant be as abuse friendly as 400z in bad terrains will have Honda written all over it elsewhere. So if it is for your daiky use and occasiknal long rides on decent to excellent roads it is 300R.
      You can easily eliminate 300f with just a TD of it alongwith 300r and 400z
