@@any0ne1612 Blizzard has an entire cinematics department that is dedicated to creating animated shorts for all their games; overwatch, diablo, WoW etc. They are not the same team as the devs and not all of the writers on overwatch were laid off with the cancellation of PvE. Cinematics take a very long time and are cost heavy to produce, even in OW1 we barely got 2+ of them a year.

6:30 My understanding is that Non-Binary usually falls under the Trans umbrella, since Trans just means identifying as anything different from your AGAB, but none of these terms are meant to be restrictive. If an Enby feels more comfortable expressing themselves without the Trans label, that's perfectly fine! As long as someone is acting in good faith they can use whatever labels they feel a connection to.

How do you tell whether or not someone is acting in good faith when they say they are non-binary?
Ok so this could just be me reading way too much into this but I remember seeing on some payload maps there’s like a very small story about the payload. For example, Kings row’s payload is a giant EMP designed to kill omnics hiding in the sewers and Numbani’s old payload was delivering doomfists gauntlet to the Museum. Now that Midtown is a pride parade again, is the defense team trying to stop and protest the pride parade by throwing hands with those attending? 😂😂

And, tangentially, a reminder for anyone that Pride - *especially* in New York - is not a "festival." Pride is a protest. It was a protest 50 years ago when the rights of LGBTQ+ people were being threatened and it's a protest now when the rights of LGBTQ+ people are *STILL* being threatened.
I mention it specifically because the 'Pride Map' is the New York map and if you refer to Pride as a 'parade' etc to an NYC Queer, they will usually very quickly note it's a Pride MARCH, because Pride is a Protest.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I did read somewhere that trans can also be used as an overarching umbrella term for a person who does not use the label of/or recognize the gender assigned at birth (which includes non-binary folks who don't conform to gender as well as those who directly change their gender). So while not officially the trans meaning as its most widely understood, it can apply to nb peeps. Doesn't mean Venture has transitioned from f-to-m/m-to-f though. And while some don't mind using the term, I think it's kinda personal choice. Does that help any? 💓

Some people argue that trans is an umbrella term which includes ALL people who identify as a different gender than the one assigned at birth. Therefore by identifying as non-binary, they would be transitioning into a different identity.

Non-binary belongs to the trans umbrella, and the trans umbrella is pretty big. It's about not identifying with the gender they gave you at birth. A lot of non-binary people go through gender affirming therapy as well, some seek out to leave the previous gender behind, other seek out to become way more androgynous, while others take the route of not taking therapy. It's something you know, you felt it in your life, you know... But still, if you are non binary, gender queer, gender nonconforming etc, everyone is valid at the end. If you are not hurting anyone else and everything is consensual and age appropriate, then there should not be a problem. It's just about letting people be their true selves so they can live a happy (or at least a less burdening) life.

Hey flats! Non-binary is often considered a trans identity, since it is not aligned with your assigned gender at birth. So if youre nonbinary, you’d also be generally considered trans as well. It’s a bit confusing, since trans can mean being male to female or female to male, but also it can simply mean identifying with a gender identity that is not your birthsex. Hope this clarifies!

In all the spaces I've been in, people only use trans to refer to people that clearly think they ARE one gender, just not the one they were given at birth. They've always treated non-binary separately. When you are born you are assigned by the doctors giving their best guess based on your physical appearance and sexual organs. Being trans simply means, your gender, does not allign with your sex/ AGAB (assigned Gender at Birth). Cis on the other hand means that your gender does allign with your AGAB. So by this nature someone non-binary, outside of our binary setup for gender at birth, they will automatically be trans, as their gender does not allign with their AGAB.
A paragraph of absolute nonsense. Doctors don’t assign anything. They describe the reality they see with their eyes, which is that the human species consists of two sexes, male and female, and those are decided by your biology, not you.

Trans can be defined as anyone who does not identify with their gender at birth. So, with Venture being non-binary, they technically fall under the trans umbrella as well. Although some people choose not to use the trans label when it technically applies, it looks like venture does use this label

Pride month marks 1 year since I started playing Overwatch. It's been a lot of fun, but I still haven't climbed past Silver Support.

Now, about the discussion of trans and non-binary. The trans umbrella is pretty big, it's not just about transgender and transexual. Non-binary, gender queer, gender nonconforming, etc, fall down into it as well.
Being trans is about not identifying yourself as the gender you were assigned at birth. So that's why those other genders and many more are considered to belong into the trans umbrella.
Some non-binary people go through gender affirming therapy, some of them try to go as far away from their assigned gender at birth, others try to achieve a more androgynous look. And also some just don't go through that at all; but still, they don't fall into the binary genders. It's something you feel. You just know that you don't belong in that.
At the end of the day, everyone is valid if they don't hurt anyone else, everything is with consent, and everyone is age appropriate. It's just about letting people be their true selves, and let them live a happy life, or at least endure it as best as they can.

While its true the executives and people who make business decisions about the company and its produces do not, and will not ever give a damn about actual inclusion or equity, we have to remember than the majority of the company is made of employees that are normal people who do care.
I'm almost certain that the only reason that OW2 did Pride the first time was because of an internal push from employees who do care. Who pushed hard enough to make those execs say yes.

I'm enby, and I think I have the answer for you. It feels forced because it kinda is, it is just a corporation dressing themselves as allies to a cause that is way bigger than that. Rainbow marketing I think it's called. These companies dress themselves with the colours, but never address nor really support the struggle. Like, they don't even know what it is about. Tho I gotta say, this year bliz actually did something kinda good, 100% to charity? That's pretty dope, and it is for a suicide prevention line for the LGBTQ community. They could have done better, but at least that's pretty good, at least in my opinion.
Also, that's about the marketing, but when it comes to the heroes and the inclusion, it feels nice. Everyone is well included in the game and they represent a very diverse group of people. Their creators do feel like they made all of them with love. I was so happy when venture came out, I felt extremely represented as a mexican non-binary person
