As a lifeweaver main with 200+ hours on him, lifeweaver was dead on release
His kit is so fun to use and simple, but the thing is that his utility in mobility just isn’t too useful, the dps passive absolutely crippled him, and the devs know that as long as lifeweaver has his current healbot centered kit he will always be bad or overpowered, they nerfed him in s8 for having too much heals but that’s the character you made?? Wasent it obvious he’d have the best heals?
I don’t think they’ll rework lifeweaver but I think he’ll be one of those heroes they just neglect in balance

I thought of some things that could maybe help lifeweaver.
      1) Grip cleansing - Like you said, grip taking away the passive could be nice but ultimately wouldent help too much because one cleanse for every 19 seconds isn’t too big, especially considering that if you grip far away by the time the gripped ally gets back into the fight the debuff probably ran out already
      2) Petal platform buffing people on top of it
Petal platform could maybe start to incentivize people to use it and not just be a lifeweaver escape option, could be by healing 30/s ppl on top of it, maybe giving a little bit of overhealth while on top of it, like a extra 50, like ventures passive, maybe even a small damage boost, because honestly being on platform right now serves almost no use.
      3) multiple petal platforms
Having 2 petal platforms could help lifeweaver since petal platform is one of his highest skill expressions, one of the best uses of petal platform is to cancel ults or abilities, but when you do that you don’t have the platform for yourself, it could help to incentivize ppl to access his skill ceiling
      4) damage
Or just most simply, give him more damage potential, let him kill people, he definitely can now but it’s way harder ever since s9, he does 122/s but it’s so inconsistent to use when the enemies not close
      5) Parting gift
Just add parting gift back but only give it to Allies, or even, when lifeweaver dies he has a screen like meteor strike or bastion artillery where he sends down a parting gift to a ally who needs it.

    • @ganymede8257
      @ganymede8257 Месяц назад +15

Yes, this! Lifeweaver's whole identity is being weak in terms of combat capability but making up for it with very high healing. Basically imagine a moira who traded all her damage for more healing. That is the identity the devs gave him.... yet when dps players complained that he healed too much, he gets nerfed?
His whole gimmick is healing too much! And, its not unhealthy for the game either. It establishes clear target priorities. You kill him first so you can kill his team.

Or like anything than just another static "heal + overshield" that pushed Brig to everyone's limit.

I’ve been playing lifeweaver since his release and he’s now my support main, and honestly my issue when playing him is if there’s no one to heal, no one to pull, no one to lift, the most you can do is spam your thorns. His only form of damage is not great, and while it does do a lot of damage at the right angle it’s just not consistent. He just lacks the ability to be proactive

I love how LW has lower HPS than other magazine/reloading heros like Ana and Baptiste, lacks a burst heal option like nade or immort/regen burst, BUT IS BALANCED WITH THE LONGEST ASS RELOAD because he has to reload+charge up a petal + wait for the slow ass projectile to land. That’s like 3 whole seconds of downtime every time he reloads. I hate it so much.
What’s worse is that his control scheme on release was more streamlined because the auto-reload upon switching weapons happened after 1 second. Whenever there was downtime you could avoid the reload entirely by switching and shooting for 1 second before swapping back to a full magazine. For some damn reason they nerfed the auto-reload to 2 seconds and by god almighty I need to ask why the devs thought that was necessary.

It could be something like when he hits you 1-3 thorns are left behind that do a small amount of damage every few seconds. They'll fall off after a minute or something, or until your actively healed for a full second or pick up a health pack. But there isn't a limit on how many thorns someone can have at one time. So if you just keep thwacking some one, you can make them a inside out cactus.

I like the idea of the poison, but the reason why his attack is ass is due to the spread. Unless you are really close to someone, the spread fucks with his damage output. At the very least, his attack does have no falloff damage. It's something. Plus, I love the sound effect.

  • @smefgrimstae7845
    @smefgrimstae7845 Месяц назад +33

Lifeweaver's fatal flaw, I believe, is his lack of offensive pressure combined with his intended "pacifist" playstyle. He's clearly designed after Mercy, with his easy-to-use healing, high survivability from mobility and weapon swap for self defence. But where Mercy has damage boost and resurrect - two tools that add or restore damage output to the team - LW has the vague notion of allies using high ground. Which doesn't make them hit any harder than usual.
Because of this lack of guaranteed offensive utility, a LW who decides to add pressure to the enemy must use his thorns. They're semi-decent for what they are (makes sense, he is a support), but the lock him out of healing for so long when you factor in charge time. But if you buff his thorn-swap playstyle, you go against his indented design of *not* being "just another DPS support". You can't make his current kit good without straying from what it was meant to be by using simple number buffs.
That said, its criminal Healing Blossom has ammo. It's single target and middling heals-per-second, just like Mercy's beam and sort of Zen's orb. And neither of those have ammo.
Also Healing Blossom should have some heal over time. A 15hp for 5s HoT would allow him to heal multiple allies at once, which he desperately needs. It would also mean swapping to thorns doesn't hurt as much, as allies would still get some heals.

    • @blackomega34

Not to mention that his heal is even worse with the damage passive being bumped back to 20% Heal Negation. Which like, fine please stop boosting his numbers since it's not working but also *please* for the love of everything give him something to compensate. The fact I lose teamfights because I had to reload and my other support is playing their heart out to pick up my sudden slack hurts my soul.

What basically ended lifeweaver was the new dps passive.
When you have a character whose entire gimmick revolves around situational utility made up for by insane healing output.... then decrease his healing output by 20% for almost the whole match... you have nothing left.
Lifeweaver is impactless in the current game UNLESS you somehow manage to use his utility. He can't keep a tank alive if they're being shot by semi-capable dps. He was so close to being good and they literally killed him with that dps passive.
Every other support got by because they had other consistent factors
Illiari and Moira had their damage
Ana and Kiriko are just filled with utility
    Lucio has speed boost
    Mercy has dmg boost
And brig was a dive disabler.
Lifeweaver has nothing except his healing that is consistent. The only way to fix him at this point is give him a passive that basically has his healing specificaly ignore healing debuffs. If Kiriko can counter any debuff with suzu, then letting Lifeweaver counter the healing reduction and antiheal shouldn't be too big a deal

As a Lifeweaver main with about 150 hours on him just last season, I love playing this stupid twink, but I've found that what Lifeweaver typically does is enhance whatever your team is already capable of doing. You have a team that's doing great? You'll make it easier for them to do great? You have a team that's doing awful? They're going to be even more awful. He just keeps people alive to keep doing what they're doing for longer, and gets a few quick saves out of it, but he isn't going to be able to contribute exceptionally like Ana or Kiriko.
That said, something I do love is his *in-combat* movement. Typically in a game, I'm not dying unless someone has cracked aim or pops an auto-aiming ult (Soldier/Cass for example) because if you know how to use your cooldowns properly and have good positioning, there are very few heroes who can properly chase you down. Only ones that really spring to mind are DVa, Doomfist, and a good Genji.

It's a hard ability to use correctly. Most of the time, you just end up using it by yourself to have a full view of the battle. Sure, there are edge cases like lifting allies up from a Zarya ult, but the move is incredibly niche. In most situations, I would rather have Life Grip up over petal.

I agree, LW is one of the most fun supports that they ever released and that's why I find myself playing him a lot. Like you said, his abilities are like a double edged sword where it can go very right or very wrong. A really good grip on a hero that's about to fall off the map is so rewarding. Gripping a hero that's losing a 5v1 and about to die and they spam "thank you" on you - it feels so good. Countering an Orisa or a Zarya ult with petal, petal-ing that Ana up who was about to get Dragonbladed in half - life saver moments.
On the other hand, there are these moments where everyone is bunched together and you grip the full HP guy and (and the original target of the grip dies), or you grip an ulting Reaper and he looks at your soul for 5 straight seconds without saying anything, or you accidentally grip a Mercy into a Bastion ult, or petal-ing that Dva ult which ends up killing two of your teammates. 🤣
In summary, I love playing as this beautiful man because it is fun learning and gaining a good judgment when a grip or petal is gonna be good or appropriate.

  • @nomthepainaway.5187
    @nomthepainaway.5187 Месяц назад +4

    Sorry it’s really long I’m a yapper.
His defensive utility and healing will never compete with main healers that’s just a blatant fact if you have characters like Kiri, Bap and Ana in the game which is good HOWEVER you then need something that makes him stand out or have a reason to be picked over/alongside those characters beyond ease of use (which I wouldn’t count weaver is easier or more simple than certain other healer options anyways but still) so something akin to that of utility.
Specifically offensive utility, especially considering he doesn’t possess real offence of his own anyways like Mercy he particularly needs something like damage boost to compensate and justify the lack of individual fight prowess and contribution. Like with Mercy sacrificing such things for the sake of increasing the threat and offensiveness of another individual significantly beyond their norm.
It’s like a “give up your weapon to make your friends weapon even more deadly” type of deal which he doesn’t possess therefore having no true way to sway the fight in his teammates favour just simply prevention from the fight turning bad for his own which other supports already do better than him with less effort AND individual offensive capability itself.
Frankly a rework to how his healing functions conceptually and an addition of some consistent offensive utility would hopefully sort this character out. Still would be less popular given his necessity for heightened creative use of his tools but perhaps with the new utility he’d have a guaranteed small niche to fill within situations and enough value to give justification for his limitations.
In fact this highlights the issue of all the older supports or those that can’t compete in terms of direct offence, defensive utility and sustaining power in the support role usually only have utility (offensive or tactician based) to rely on to give them reasoning for being used. Things like damage modifiers, cc, debuffs/buffs and team based positioning adjustment(speed boost/teleportation) to give purpose to certain characters given the kind of team comps require such things to compliment other characters.

Another case where blizzard refuses to acknowledge the faults in a hero's design that makes them feel incredibly clunky.
Might as well expect another slow-down on the charge rate of weaver's healing and a cd increase on Dash because, and I predict the dev note with this tl;dr of it: "Lifeweaver's survivability is too high. We need to tone down the survivability for the single most pointless character in the game because bronze tracers were complaining about them dashing and using petal to escape out of reach. Also reduced healing because you were getting your yggdrasil knockoff too fast, and it was either this or we cut the tree's HP in half."
Not like he's going to need the survivability anyway, since Brigitte's getting an increased damage reduction on the 7th of may due to the armor changes proposed by Blizzard not just affecting tanks, so brig can just walk at any flanker without a care in the world, and bastion's getting the same treatment making it so dive dps cant distract him from mowing down the tanks that don't have armor like sigma or zarya, yknow, the only 2 consistently fun to play tanks in OW2 even when tank is at its absolute lowest. No need for a super tanky dedicated healer when you can have a super tanky dedicated healer that can also peel for their fellow support.
    Thanks blizzard.

A reminder that they intended you to switch between healing and attacking. His first control scheme was such ass that the community made a better version that you can use (comical how they still let you switch to that monstrosity control scheme as an option). It is why healing and attacking don't feel natural on him. It isn't like Moira's control style where she uses different hands.

As someone with 100+ hours on Lifeweaver and is a support main I feel that lifeweaver has some problems that if solved, might not make him the best but would give him something to stand on.
(Also brace for impact I wrote like 6 paragraphs)
NOTE: This is just my opinion please don't cook me alive
1: Lifeweaver has 'lower' stats then a lot of other supports in the game.
Looking at the stats its hard to see but when you compare it other supports in an actual gameplay setting things start looking bad for him. Comparing his healing to other 'main healers' Lifeweaver just can't really compete. Against a character like Ana, she fires way faster and heals for roughly the same as LW. By the time LW has even begun charging his second heal ana's most likely already shot her 2nd or 3rd shot and if LW spams heals to keep up with the firerate of ana, he just heals less. Same thing goes with characters like Baptiste or even Moira if you don't put range into the factor.
Also Lifegrip has one of the longest cooldowns in the game compared to other life saving abilities. The obvious case is suzu, applying a vartiey of effects every 15s compared to LW's lifegrip at 19. Even immo field, having a longer cooldown- effects multiple players and even biotic nade from Ana, while not saving someone directly the increased healing makes non burst damage much less impactful. (Also Lifegrip doesn't even have a cleanse like Zarya's bubble)
    2: The DPS passive.
Lifeweaver was decent (still not great) before the DPS heal reduction passive because he was ment to heal bot but after LW pretty much just wilted away. If you buff LW's healing to be effective through the DPS passive, he becomes a massive problem because he's healing so much with the passive on the target still becomes hard to kill and if the DPS passive isn't active, who ever he's healing is practically immortal.
    3: Communication.
LW has always been built around communication but in most games you'll be lucky to find someone with a mic or even join team chat. This problem will never be solved but theres some things that could be added to give a slightly more effective playstyle. Giving LW more pings could be very useful, yes he can ping platform, yes he can ping when life grip is off cooldown but more options tells allies what you can do more often. Let LW ping when he has grip ready, or if he has a full charged heal at someone ready for them to take damage, let him ping that. These could be togglable in the settings if players really didn't want to use them. Heck maybe even a new passive called "Natures connection" or something that lets him ping more in general.
    4: Bugs.
The simplest solution to helping LW could just be the fixing of his bugs. The main one is lifegrip just not pulling someone, mostly because they get caught behind like a random pole or behind a car that should 100% have them dragged over. While I am no coder I feel like these could be fixable rather easily, espec with Blizzards budget. Also another bug is when LW's petal is rising, his hitbox clips through it meaning if you petal up from something like a reaper ult at low hp or a dva ult, you can still die even after breaking LOS because your hitbox clipped through the floor and got hit.
Also I don't know what section to put this in but let LW have a lifegrip conformation like Nano boost so you don't grab someone when you click the ability 0.001 seconds after they die.
Now, If given the chance I would continue to ramble about LW as I have strong feelings on his balancing but I will leave it here. (Also thank you for reading my Essay of Lw problems.)
Long story short: LW has problems that need to be looked at, whether with buffs, fixes, or even a small rework to change how he plays against certain things.

I've been playing LW since day 1. Extensively. I've had to take a few breaks from OW, but I have well over 200 hours on him, and as of this current season, a 100% winrate with him in comp across 10 games so far (To be fair, I'm only in Plat). My opinion is that he's heavily underutilized. People don't weapon swap to do enough damage, but at the same time, I can't blame them for one simple reason. You actually brought it up in the video, which surprised me because whenever I discuss it, people either aren't aware of the change, or they spout some other nonsense about reworking him. His autoreload speed being NERFED to be slower than his manual reload speed is a HUGE dissuasive to constant weapon swapping or shifting. Him and Ball are the only two characters I can think of that have a slower autoreload speed than manual reload speed. In Ball's case, they buffed his manual reload to be faster because they wanted people to use it more. In Lifeweaver's case, I couldn't even tell you why they did it, and they did it to him FIRST! I've pushed for certain things like faster projectile speed on thorn volley and whatnot, but the reload nerf is one of the things I've wanted changed back for so long. I have so many words I could say about Lifeweaver, but he's still some of the most fun I've had on support in a long time.
Also, here's a Lifeweaver healing spreadsheet for anyone that wants one:

Look, I love the guy. Weaver's kit gelled with me the same way that Ana's did. He's genuinely the polar opposite of her giving me the variety I was lacking with other Supports that I either play "only" bc they can stop something that's being a hindrance OR bc I need more than just a tick in sustain into duel-ability like a Moria/Bap/Kiri. Hell he has my highest winrate of my supports even though there are games that I really don't know if I *did* that much other than running from their Dive really well.
IMO it's his Weapon Heal and Lifegrip that really hold him back. A major reason I rarely use Grip is cos' a lot of times the person I thought about Gripping either already has escape options or simply accepts that death bc they're taking someone else (or multiple someones) with them. Saving someone from Pulse or Flux does feel great--- yoinking someone out of Rein's charge makes the Rein player want to eat glass since now he can't even guarantee that kill and it's a Core Ability. And his Heal just... feels so bad sometimes. Like moving away from big healing is great, it speeds up games; but his healing potential is basically nothing since 65 HPS does exactly zilch when it takes 1 DPS to reduce it even further.
Personally I think his Grip needs to be replaced. I've thought about something like a "Thorn Shield" to keep with his theme that provides survival-ability by either giving a slight Damage Reduction + Lifesteal or a small chunk of Overshield (like 25 to 50 that just denies a one-shot or combo) with either DPS Reduction/Lifesteal (not both) to be like a mini-nano that just gives someone an edge. Also really wish they'd make the Tree like the one in his Short that's like a "firework" or something bc the Visual Clutter is so damn much.
Oh and minor thing but I really *really* which Blizz would change the colors of his platform/tree at least on your end to match the Legendary Skins. It could be like the Mythic voices or like a "switch off if you don't want the extra Framerate drag" for people that play with lower graphics for performance or competitive. (Insert Marge Simpson Meme) I just think it'd be neat.

The problem with lifeweaver getting buffed at all makes the game “unfun” for enemies. I have so much fun with playing him and people hate lifeweaver because they never get any good lifeweavers due to him being difficult. If he needs to be on par with the other supports… just give him a healing charge buff. Let him charge his healing faster. Maybe give him a gun swap speed buff too. Other than that he’s fine. But then people will get mad because he’s unfun to play against. Which means he might be doomed to be a mediocre support forever until he gets a rework. M
I hope he doesn’t because I love how he plays but he’ll never be one of the ok support picks because of his perception to players where he’s a bad healer/ hard to play & the enemy hates dealing with him.

I neat Idea that I had for Lifeweaver is to give this Thorn Volley poison damage (like JQ bleed or like Mirrowatch Zen discord), Since a lot of the time you are mostly healing, and not much reason to pull out your Thorn Volley, but with Poison damage it could allow you to deal damage with out complete sacrificing your heal. Another neat idea, give back his Parting Gift, but make it damage and poison enemies, also I find it annoying when I place my petal platform and my teammate accidently walks on it, it'll be cool if I could control whenever I want the platform to go up and down, as well being able to cancel life grip. I know it did cause game sabotage, but being able to pull your teammates while during abilities that don't allow you to rn, could bring really cool and fun plays, and giving player agency of allowing both Lifeweaver and the player being pulled the ability to cancel the pull could help with the sabotage.

As someone who's second main is Lifeweaver (my first main is Lucio), I feel like a quick hotfix that could help Lifeweaver is reducing the downtime on Lifeweaver's reload and change weapon animation.
For a character who already has to charge his heals, the reload time and low ammo is pretty damaging to his uptime potential and punishing Lifeweavers who alternate damage and healing by the long change-weapon time sucks ass for no reason when other Support characters doesn't have that issue (well, except Mercy maybe? I don't really play her since her control map on Console is weird af for me)
These changes would make playing Lifeweaver less clunky than he already is, at least in my humble opinion.

my biggest issue with him is 2 things, they increased grip cooldown after everyone started complaining about it, not because it needed the nerf but because dps were mad about it. it's a lot harder to get value out of him when he can only save someone once every 20 seconds. while baps can do the same with his whole team with a similar cooldown
the second thing is his primary fire healing it takes way too long to charge, it also has a very slow reload on top of the charge, it's a some what slow projectile and holding it at full charge slows him down. it's almost like he's not supposed to use it or something.

I really have fun with lifeweaver in to cancel ultra and be as defensive as possible. I don’t know if they reverted this change, but they gave lw 5 more healing in a previous patch but lowered the rate at which he charges up the heal and the projectile generally is so slow. I feel like these hold him back and his manual reload takes FOREVER. Some tweaks would be fun to see but playing dps lifeweaver is also so fun.

For me ive played lifeweaver since his release and I main the support role and to me I think its fine to have characters that specialise in healing more than dmg but I think they need to make lifeweaver have more offensive ability because mercy at least has dmg boost as a way to compensate. To me I wouldn't mind if they nerfed his survivability a bit or reduced his healing a tad while increasing his dmg capabilities to make him more of an active presence in a fight rather than just hiding in the backline and healing to build tree. I e heard theory's of turning his thorns into a needler like in halo which would be interesting and could be do e without changing his kit to much as his name is LifeWEAVER after all and I thinks he should weave dmg and healing In his kit but thats just my thoughts!

Lifeweaver has honestly been my favorite character since released. I think his design/kit are so creative, yet he still doesn’t get as much value as he truly can. I love that he offers repositioning for his teammates, yet no on seems to appreciate it, at least in my experience. Usually when I throw my petal down for my dps (usually for hit scans) no one seems to want to take advantage of having higher ground so that cool down ends up to going to waste and I end up just using it for myself. Personally I would love to see changes to his petal platform. Given how easy it is for people accidentally walk off it, I think maybe it there should be an interaction where players can use is it as an elevator to get up and done while it’s on the field rather than a one use only type of deal like we have now. There’s also no incentive to deal damage and I hate heal botting with him tbh so I’d really like to see changes to his thorn volley (landing your thorns through bap window can get you some neat kills). Sure, his heals are good, but that shouldn’t be the only thing a support character offers. Regardless of what’s in store for my boy I will always enjoy using him 🌸 sry for the long comment haha

  • @Xenoks01

His design is great in the sense that it can be versatile and engaging to play, but it's poor in the context of Overwatch since he's stuck as a utility-focused support whose utility is relatively finnicky and situational, which would be fine if most of his value wasn't tied to it. Because of that, he's designed in a way where healbotting is his default state in any game, which means his healing is usually the sole factor deciding in how meta he is or isn't as he doesn't have the tools to make plays as proactively or consistently as he'd need to to offset that
I do love his kit and I really enjoy the fact he's a support with swappable weapons (even if that's a very unpopular design choice), but that part of his kit aswel as his utility being the way it is means he's essentially always fighting between his healing and dps, instead of having to weave the two like Moira, or being able to alternate like Bap/Kiri, while his DPS tools are also not good enough to often want to forgo healing like Ana. Mercy's dual weapons work because (in a relatively healthy meta) she needs to alternate to fully make use of her value, LW in contrast almost never does as his DPS is rarely needed, while someone pretty much always needs to be healed

i agree with everything you said about falling back in love with the support role in Overwatch because of Lifeweaver! i usually love the support role most in video games, but it's my lowest queued role in Overwatch. and my reason for loving Lifeweaver compared to other supports is exactly the reason a lot of people dislike Lifeweaver: his playstyle is very defensive-oriented. i love being able to place down petals and use grip and use tree in order to keep my allies in the fight and save them. i actually feel like i have more control over the outcome of a match on him than Mercy because with Mercy, i can only rez my teammate if they're close enough by, my damage boost utility is reliant on them being able to hit shots, etc. but with LW i can directly save my teammates if they start feeding, and my shut-down potential with burst healing is way stronger. i love LW and agree with you, he absolutely doesn't need a rework, he's just going to be a niche favorite to some and that's okay.
also, 20% DPS passive is gonna ruin him. they need to bring back 15% or just do SOMETHING because him and Mercy are gonna rot otherwise.

i think the easy way to express Lifeweaver's utility issue is to say that the value is abstract
Lucio's Amp-it-up, though one of the more middling support abilities, concretely interacts with the systems of the game (health and movement) whereas Lifeweaver attempts to leverage advantage by... raising the roof
Petal simply isn't flexible enough to do what Lifeweaver needs it to do
on a GOOD map, anything petal can do, stairs can do better
anything tree can do, basic cover can do better (although Tree, being a big spongy hitbox, is more often needed than petal)
    I have ideas
might make my own video tbh

i was in a bit of a character crisis near the start of OW2, cycling between bastion, reaper, sym, kiri and ram. and then LW came out now he's my main! i agree that he feels absolutely amazing to play and has such an interesting and fun kit to try and get max value out of. there's a really good LW player on youtube named ReformedRavi that i watch who taught me a lot of his more nuanced tricks (like using tree to block sigma ult LOS or using petal as a shield against dva bomb) and it just made me love him even more. i also just love his visual design and personality, it's so cool and his vibes are immaculate
as essentially a LW one-trick at this point, i can confirm that there is a lot of hate surrounding """bad pulls""" (like pulling the tank who is at 10 hp and about to die but insists that he was totally about to kill everyone) but the amount of times ive gotten 'ily lw' is incredible and it always feels amazing. my endorsement rank has never been higher LOL
if i were to suggest changes to his kit, i'd probably want the following:
    - LW can hit the lifegrip button again to cancel his own grip (PLEASE)
    - pulling a target after jumping off of your own petal puts the pull target on your petal instead of bringing them midair with you
    - pulling a target while rising on your own petal brings them to the top with you, instead of underneath the petal (this is similar idea to a tracer recall QoL mechanic, where if she tries to recall onto a moving platform it will put her where that platform is NOW instead of where it WAS)
    - minimum charge for heal increased from 10 to 20. this makes it easier to quickly heal a low health ally at the cost of burning through your ammo really quick
    - similar to mauga, hitting an enemy with 10 thorn projectiles within a short timespan (remember each shot fires 2 projectiles), applies a damage over time status (could reuse widow poison?). this improves his ranged poke and gives a reason to poke every so often instead of just healbotting. i also think this is more interesting than just raw damage increase

3 small LW changes that will make him more interactive and less situational
    1. Allow petal platform to go back down after someone steps off it, resetting its timer. This way it can be used multiple times for ascending to high ground by multiple groups of teammates, and isn't accidentally triggered and made useless by someone walking over it and instantly stepping off.
    2. Revert the auto-reload nerf, allow fluidly switching between damage and healing, only charging two blossoms then doing a quick burst of thorns would feel similar to Kiriko's gameplay.
    3. Lower his ammo for both blossoms and thorns, to discourage constantly using only one or the other then reloading instead of swapping back and forth.

Been playin Weaver a looot since launch and I think fixing his utility would be more fun then just flat stat buffs. Lower the size of his massive hitbox (I don't know if they've changed it since launch but even his wings count as his hitbox) so he isn't a free shooting gallery. Maybe have his petal platform curl up a bit when it peaks ( like a little lower than waist height ) so he isn't a free kill beacon for hitscan and you could pull to give your hitscan minor cover and a vantage point. Maybe give pull cleanse or heal over time besides the initial healing(maybe have it lower heal passive time for ally?) so you have more options than avoid death or fix bad positioning.Heck I'd even take that wrecking ball ability he had in the diablo event. I love getting kills on my own with Weaver but pulling off crazy shenanigans is why I love to play him.

Im a wrecking ball main and I peaked masters, so my positioning knowledge is high relative to my overall skill level. When I experimenting with support, I found lifeweaver to be really good because I could control where my tank played. If my plat rein decides that he has to be in the enemies backline, I can change that. I think they could lean into lifeweaver's high skill ceiling by increasing the range of pull, decreasing the cooldown of petal platform and reducing the time it take to swap between healing and damage (this is the most important one because WHYYY does it feel so clunky to swap). I really hope they dont just increasing his healing and call it a day, because it is already very strong. Going back to my experience with lifeweaver, I think he plays well as a bodyguard for your other support, so all these changes would definitely help with that.

I think he could really use a passive similar to Furia from Paladins: a power meter that increases your damage/rate of fire the more you heal. It would bring a whole new level of dynamism to his kit, and could give him the potential to make plays on his own.

I wonder how lifeweaver would have been perceived if life grip was instead death grip and pulled an enemy towards your team, but unlike hook it was a slingshot (cancellable at any point) but you would displace them 10m behind you. So you could run to the front grip their support and place them right between your team to team up and kill. He'd be so meta paired with hog, hook grip, hook combos. It'd be really scary seeing a lifeweaver next to an edge (I think you'd have to have slingshot only on one trajectory unlike hog hook that can change by turning). Plus it'd be really fun to hide by the edge of the map to just yeet someone off it as they run past.

    Here's what i suggest.
Petal platform now heals at a slow rate and now has the utility to increase the range of damage falloff.
Life grip now gives the target a speed boost for a short time.
Passive parting gift: heals technology, enemies can not heal but destroy it

I think one of the things that confuses me about his design is that he seems like he wants to play at a distance but his shooting is better and easier at closer range? Though I suppose he's not meant to be fighting as much but with how little he has I think his shooting could be reworked to fit the distance he wants to be at. However I've seen some other buff ideas thay seem really nice so perhaps this wouldn't be necessary, but that part of his kit does still sort of confuse me.

10:38 a good way of not having this happen is letting weaver cancel his grip on recast (and then making it so you can just hold the grip button instead of having to spam it), then it kinda just acts like a single-target, 30s cd cleanse

14:19 how to fix lifegrip while also making it a strong offensive tool: Lifegripped teammates get 40% increased movment speed for 3secs after being gripped. That way if they are far away they can get right back into the fight, but if you're close, you can just grip them so they can run in fast, and since you have to use grip to do that if they die its like a risk you're willing to take. Also just allow him to reload 30% of his ammo every 0.5 when swapped off that weapon, and if you wait the full 2.5secs it just fully reloads his weapon, also maybe increase his damage a bit from 6 to 8 or 7 and give him 100 ammo instead of 80

if i had to change lifeweaver i would do a couple of things. yes this is a slight rework
    -reduced total health to 250
-completely removed movement penalty for holding healing
    -reduced weapon swap time
    *heal blossom*
-now *automatically* charges up while using thorn volley (takes 1.25 second to fully charge up.) if you are in thorn volley stance when fully charged, aim at an ally and switch to healing stance to apply the heal.
-healing blossom now starts at 40 healing without charging up, up to a maximum of 70 healing at full charge
-reduce healing blossom ammo to 10
-reduce maximum charge up time to .75 seconds
-increase *manual* reload time of healing blossom
    *thorn volley*
    -increased projectile speed by 10mps
    -projectiles are now fired quicker
-projectiles now apply a DOT effect (30 damage over two seconds)
    *rejuvinating dash*
-dash now has two charges but each now heal 20 instead of 50
-can now be used without jumping and are omnidirectional
    -dashing resets the jump cooldown
    *petal platform*
-now has a .5 second cooldown if lifeweaver destroys it before it’s taken damage
    -reduced cooldown by 2 seconds
    -increased throwing speed of platform
-increased travel speed of the projectile
    -decreased activation time of platform
    -increased speed of platforms ascend
    -increased walkable area by 5%
    *lifegrip*
    -now cleanses the targeted ally
-reduced distance from 30 to 25 meters
-pressing the interact key will releases the player for its grasp
    *tree of life*
    -builds 10% slower

this rework is intended to push him more into the fight to reduce the healbot playstyle, keeping his long range healing while adding some very needed quality of life improvements. i’ve also reduced his upfront survivability in favor for more mobility. keep in mind that number can change and probably would change

  • @forfoxsakes4057

As a LW main, my ideas are as follows
1: Give him either infinite/more ammo on Blossom(less HoT than other supports, make it more reliable, as I find my allies die after I run out of my measly 16 shots)
2: (this is a multi idea) make his Blossom either have a heal over time(like 15 health over 1.5 seconds), increase the healing, or give it a triage effect(more HP the lower an allies hp), the same idea can be applied to his damage(damage over time, more damage, or more damage the lower/higher an enemies HP is...more proactive to start or finish a fight)
3: LET HIS GRIP CLEANSE EFFECTS PLS BLIZZARD I BEG(the amount of times I have gripped an Anti'd ally, pull them to safety, and they get popped right infront of me while I can't do anything...)
4: to give him more "offensive utility", and to keep it inline with other single target supports, give his Platform a damage boost to yourself/allies while on it(or fully raised cuz "balance"), like 30% somewhere above Discord and Boost considering it is a "limited window"
5: on the same note, give allies/yourself rapid regeneration while the platform RAISES, in the instance you are being, say, dived upon by a ninja, he hits you alot, and you need to go Up, he can dash up to you but by that time you will have healed some
6: give him 2 dashes(let the second one to 1/2 healing), but slightly increase the cooldown, more survivability/outplay potential (also do minor healing to allies around you, and maybe give overhealth like tree if you are full health, since he has 2 dashes it would promote dashing INTO a fight, getting overhealth, then slapping an enemy around, and platforming/dashing out a second time)
7: give him a passive darnit...like...after you heal an ally(either to full HP or general) give him bonus healing(either flat healing or percent to that target) for a few seconds *healbot intensifies*
    8: tree...it's fine
9: MAYBE(and i mean maybe) increase his health to 300(200 HP, 100 Shields)
(I know this might be considered "overtuned"...1:fight me, 2:this would OBVIOUSLY go through intense testing first to find exact amounts, 3:this will never happen because they hate Lifeweaver and they want him to stay trash and because my opinion doesn't matter

I would give him the ability to hit interact again to auto raise his petal to his desired hight this would raise his skill ceiling massively and lower his skill floor. Then the final buff I'd give him is the ability when his petal reaches max height it would expand and get physically bigger. I know the last buff sounds odd but I'll explain a lot of the ults or abilitys that weaver can out play with petal end up with one person getting killed because of the aoe. This would solve that problem without making petal op.

I actually think the health on his tree needs reverting back to 1000hp, nobody ever bothers to shoot the tree because it takes way too long to destroy.

My wishlist for the midseason patch for him:
-Make the minimum heal for Primary 30 for when you don't have time to charge up a big heal (the fact it will eat your ammo fast should balance it).
-Make the petals in the outer edges of the platform curve up(like a lotus) so you need to jump to get off it, that way it would minimize people accidentally falling off of it.
-More on platform, if I can be greedy: Give it a small heal-over-time for those standing on it, like Soldier's Biotic Field (20 HP/S?), that way whoever is on top can stay there longer, since some healers have trouble healing someone up there.
-Remove the heal on Lfe-Grip(to balance the new Platform heal), but give the target a 75 Temp. HP shield for 5s.

One thing I somewhat find unique about Lifeweaver is the fact he was the first and only Overwatch 2 character, before Venture, that isn’t mega broken on release. Kiriko, Sojourn, Junker Queen, Mauga, Illari, and Rammatra were all busted and it was either you have them on your team or you lose when they came out. Lifeweaver was if you did have him on your team you would lose and if he was on the enemy team you would win. Also I personally would like Reapers old passive along with his new one just to counter the mercy Res in a game mode. Just to see how mercy mains would react to it

I love *playing* Lifeweaver and he's honestly one of the heroes I'm most comfortable with, next to my main Brig. But honestly, his current kit is too extreme for Overwatch. He has some of the highest skill ceiling with his utility combined with having the most simple and one-dimensional (and also anti-synergistic) primary- and secondary-fire dynamic.
But I don't even mind that. I actually kind of like his rhythm. My problem is *actually* his insane survivability. He has 275 HP including 50 shield, a dash that regens his HP, and a petal platform for the worst case scenario to almost literally take him out of the fight if he needs. It doesn't feel very fun to execute as the Lifeweaver, but the biggest issue is how it feels to play against. When I play Sombra, for example, he is quite literally undiveable. In fact, them having a Lifeweaver almost by itself guarantees Sombra will not get any kills.
I'm not sure how I would fix him. Maybe he should only have platform OR life grip, but at this point they're both linked to him and it isn't likely they're going away.

OW2 is all about killing things, and Lifeweaver just doesn't do that as well as other Supports. Even Mercy struggles, because despite damage boost, it's not as strong as heal beam, or discord, and it really needs to be.
Speaking of which, I doubt all the Mercy mains are helping Lifeweaver win rate. It really is the worst Support duo.

I actually think that Lifeweaver is one of the best supports in the game. He is just so usefull. High healing output, great mobility, good team interaction and his ultimate just saved so many wins for my team. After blizzard changed his controls, he worked perfectly for me, I think the main issue really is just that people don't use his full potential

I have 500+ hrs on Lifeweaver so her are my buff suggestions:
    -Increase speed of healing projectiles
-Give 2 charges to Lifegrip, but same ally cannot get pulled within 10 seconds
-(sorta crazy) have teammates on petal do increased damage
-Increased HPS and DPS would be nice to compensate for increased healthpools, especially against flankers

I have played lifeweaver since launch, and I gotta say - I really felt the dash change. Id often get stuck in ram vortex, and if you're using the new controls you can't dash out. When they changed platform so it blocks nemesis form it was a huge thing, and tree being immune to emp was also a good change. The recent change to sigma ult concerns me, because you can't counter it with tree now

Lifeweaver to me atleast is just a passive version of brigette, he does brigs job slightly worse, and trades brigs dps and cc for more healing.
Most of the time when i considering picking lifeweaver, brig is also an option and normally a better one.

Lifeweaver one trick here. I think they should lower the time it takes to charge his heal to full and maybe lower the max to compensate if that ends up being too op. His heals take so long to charge to full which is why every time they buff the max, it makes so little difference. You almost always don’t charge your heal to full. If he’s not good after this change then I would bring back the passive 1.5 second reload when using a different weapon since that will make him much more fluid to play as he can always stay active by swapping weapons.

    my lifeweaver buffs would be something like;
increase thorn damage and projectile speed
lg becomes a makeshift old sombra tp. lifeweaver attaches a petal to someone for give or take 6-10 seconds and then they can hit interact to be dragged to you.
platform and heals are perfect as is
tree needs to have something on death, so lets say its a speed boost when it goes down

  • @timce9220
    @timce9220 Месяц назад

My buffs: 2 charges for petal platform, when LW stands on the platform he gain 15% damage reduction
Life grip cleansing and a CD reduction.
His ultimate cost is reduced by 12%. At the cost of half of the trees HP it can “save” (basically the bubble during life grip) an ally and only be activated once.
His dash increase his movement speed after use.
He gets his old passive back, while dead he can choose who to give it to. The longer he stays alive the more it heals. If you die too much it will heal less.
I think these changes would make him a better option and maybe a bit too much but honestly he deserves it

  • @DingArto
    @DingArto 9 дней назад

i think he is so fun to play i think while i like his damage secondary in concept i feel it should be switch for a something else? maybe a flower dart that drains hit targets and can stack up to 2 or 3 depending on damage, not a beam so you need to land your shot but will reward you for good aim. that way you can scare off targets who are extending and have more time to focus healing your team. or perhaps has a syiffen effect. place it on an enemy near an ally and have that draining health go to the closest ally keeping him in theme with with his style and adding a reliable assist
