Ngl , any game that you play for hours on end every single day will eventually get old or have you not having as much fun anymore. That is why it's always a good idea to take breaks and play other games that you don't have to take as serious. Like Chivalry 2 or Helldivers for example lol

I mean these people have been having fun with it for years and enjoyed making content for it, lots people play league for a decade and still like logging in but its just the state of the game that makes it hard to enjoy taking it seriously or even play for fun anymore. The tank role is extremely miserable, which in turn makes it miserable for everyone involved. Ow 1 tanks felt like a wall that you had to break, nowadays i see a tank doing well, go ana or zen and just laugh how much i can do to a tank on a support, it's ridiculous. I love zen but the amount of hell he gives to a tank is seriously not fair. On top of that the game feels a lot more dumbed down compared to the past which makes it less fun to get better at it.

Sadly, Overwatch just took an entirely different direction that no amount of breaks would revive for me. It truly feels like an entirely different game than OW1 ever was; And coming from a 20+ year RuneScape player, a game can easily continue to keep your (or my, at least) focus for decades as long as you know how to navigate burnout.

My friends and I all absolutely hate 5v5 i couldn't careless about queue times, Overwatch 1 was a time of fun, making ult combos, rolling people and getting rolled back. Overwatch 2 has literally been nothing at all but a headache since its release. Micro transactions, trash new characters, slow updates, nothing feels like it is ever fixed. It's just not worth playing anymore.

Ikr... The slow updates are what gets me. Feels like OW1 again but with one less tank. They said it's easier to balance 5v5 and turns out that's a lie. They said they're gonna remove/reduce CC but we have just as much CC in OW2 like in OW1. The only difference is that I get to move my character ever so slightly before dying. This game is cooked unless the devs do something to address the issues in OW2.

the thing about being a content creator is to have backup plans. It can end fast and unexpected, so having something on the backburner is important. This can also help you to not be scared of taking a chance, because you know something else waits for you besides that, or even while you are taking your chance.

I will say as an Overwatch player that's been on it all 6+ years with over 2000 hours, the game became MUCH more enjoyable when I stopped playing it so often; and not only that, but I played SO MUCH BETTER. It's good to give yourself a break.
But on another note, I really do just enjoy watching you for you Flats. I've noticed moments in your videos recently where you'll sort of briefly snap, and it's almost as if I can see a deep anger or frustration beneath the surface, like it has become noticeable that you aren't happy. That's nothing on you and it's not to say you should hide it, it's just like watching a friend self-destruct and wishing they would do what's best for themselves because you want to see them happy. I really hope you can branch out and find that happiness soon!!
P.S. You're absolutely top of the overwatch streamers in my eyes. Personally I only really watch you and emongg for overwatch content. You're doing incredible, and I'm sure you'll continue to do incredible no matter what you do :)♥

  • @Real_MisterSir
    @Real_MisterSir 4 месяца назад +8

Honestly, I think even within the Overwatch space, there are massive sectors that have yet to be truly cultivated by a content creator as big as you Flats. And I think the key to staying happy both with your content, and with this game, is to lean more on your community and focus on content that doesn't solely rely on you and your own gameplay loop.
Just spitballing here, but for example doing community events that are hosted under your name, could be whatever the fuck. Basically anything that players would actually enjoy. Maybe its THE FLATS TOURNAMENT OF BRAVE SOULS or whatever, maybe it's a Flats guild that hosts pugs and scrims and consists of your viewers so the viewers don't just relate to you, but also grow bonds with each other -and then you'll commentate on highlights and big matches etc.
Maybe it's the "Flats Lucio Surf cup of the day" where you host a literal Lucio race ala time trial Mario Kart or Trackmania and you could get some honor guests like Frogger or whoever would wanna join in -something whacky that breaks the mold and expectations of what "the Overwatch experience" is supposed to be. Something fun and experimental. I think this is something the OW content scene really lacks a ton of, which is content based on gameplay that isn't the default formula of comp or quickplay in the locked dev-determined format.
Maybe you participate in these events, maybe you act as a caster and see the stupid shit your community members get up to, who knows.
Key point is, I think widening your field of content (within Overwatch) away from primarily focusing on just you and your standard comp and qp gameplay, and pushing more of the load over on the community and community events, crossover stuff with some different streamers, maybe you take up-and-coming streamers in on hosted shows to share your experience growing your spot in the OW scene from nothing -to where you are now.
I think the main takeaway is, your community loves to see you enjoy what you're doing. Yes many are here for OW content, but it can come in many shapes and sizes, and I think because OW is such a competitive and fps focused game, very few creators have been incentivized to really try out things that are a bit outside the box of what the default OW experience is expected to be.
At least this is the only way I see OW content truly growing in the future. Cus the game itself wont.
At the end of the day, viewers just wanna tune in to good vibes. That's really all there is to it. And when you're enjoying yourself, your content oozes good vibes dude.
    Just my 2 cents.

I feel like a great metric they don't use to know when an ability is more powerful than most. Is when that ability gets a callout in comp. There are some abilities that get called out more than some ults.

Flats I have been playing this game for over six years and when it came to streamers I would usually watch Rapida Freshnuts and then what I recall to be the newest one of them, Noobhunter. I never locked in on a specific streamers content because I got the highlights from everyone in the very way that inspired me to play the game. The first time I seen Flats was when he roasted Chipsa on Noobhunter, I thought "man who is this Chad that refused to be flamed for making the right play (I was a Chipsa fan and still thought he was wrong.) I watched Flats come out of nowhere as an intelligent idea man. He stole the show and while I still do watch a lot of Noobhunter, I think I watch more Flats then anything... Or was it More Flats? That guy has some amazing variety, still waiting on a God of War Ragnarok playthrough where he gets every box and gets spawncamped by puppies for a few hours. Hot take, Tanks should have very limited range on attacks that do big damage so they are a threat but not killing you from a long distance away, When they started adding hit scan tanks like Orisa, Ball, and mauga that is when it really hit the fan, because now if you make tanks actually tanky they can just spam and kill you from across the map. Zyra, Rein, Winston, DVA, Sigma. They all are designed to have zero damage after a certain range, so now you can't buff tanks to actually be tanky because the tanks do too much damage and have zero weaknesses. If you can't kite a tank out, then its not a tank, its a dps.

As someone who joined overwatch 2 without ever having played overwatch 1 I can for shure say that most of the players like me aren't shure about 6v6 vs 5v5 at all because we never experienced 6v6 in the first place. However I understand that just swapping to 6v6 out of nowhere would just lead to other problems and probably make tank op. (saying that as a tank main). Would actualy love to see the devs try out a limited time game mode of some sort where they test how 6v6 would work in overwatch 2 be it trough quickplay or arcade. With that people who joined with overwatch 2 could at least experience 6v6 mode for once and actualy form a somewhat valid opinion about it.

I think a really big part of why you and a lot of Overwatch streamer veterans are feeling such burnout is Both from the actual state of the game currently (it sucks), but also I think playing the same game for *several years,* for several hours at a time almost every day of the week will always inevitably lead to burnout, regardless of how much you love the thing you're playing. I definitely think it's worth it to take breaks and branch out! I really enjoyed your BG3 games, and I'd love to see you tackle more story-heavy games, or other multiplayer stuff with some of the OVW streamer crew! Most importantly this is Your channel and Your livelihood-- play what You want! And if you're not having fun with the current state of OVW and haven't been for a minute, than it might be time for a switch-up

One thing I keep thinking regarding my favorite content creators is that I'm there for their personality and the entertainment they provide. Flats is one of those creators that is pretty funny, consistently, regardless of the game he's playing. I think taking the jump would be worth the risk, OW2 isn't anywhere close to what OW1 was and never will be no matter how hard you try. There is only so much you guys (Bogur, Emongg, etc) can do.
On 6v6: I don't think I miss there being 6 people on each team, or having two tanks; I miss playing a game that was CLEARLY loved and valued by the team creating the characters, stories and just the overall world of Overwatch. It hasn't felt like that to me in years. I hope one day they can find wherever they buried the magic that originally created the game.

We walk out, press buttons, die and lose or kill and win. Theres no consequences anymore, you don't really get punished by bad play (besides obvious examples ofc) and I think I speak for a lot of people when I say I feel like each match and fight just starts, happens, and ends, without it really feeling like we get to play.

The problems with 5v5 solotank are not fixable.
The problems that come from a simple return to 6v6 (2tank defensive ability rotation) are fixable with some additional changes.
One way to do this is to split the tank role in 2. 1 Tank, 1 "bruiser". Convert suitable tank characters (like Ball, Doom, JK) and maybe a few heavy utility or disruption having DPS characters like Mei, Symmetra and Venture to the Bruiser class. Make sure all very active team defense tanks (like Rein, Sigma) are in the Tank category so you can't stack them.
Of course, heavy tweaks and reworks are necessary on not only abilities and stats, but also character sizes, but it would make the game feel a bit more chaotic again to be 6v6 so long as defensive tank ability rotation style mobile bunker meta can be avoided.
It is kind of sterile feeling right now with monotank on many maps. This sterile sameyness is part of why the game isn't that much of a joy to play. At first it felt a bit more like OW2 had become a proper esport with a proper "form" of how the play was, but this turned out to be a bit of a trap.
I think quite a few DPS players would enjoy flexqueuing into a Bruiser class with the characters tweaked for that role, so I doubt the queue times would get much longer.

The smile you had is slowly disappearing and I believe and agree with Bogur that once you experiment with other games on stream and just have some fun your light will come back. OW2 will always be there for you to come back to and you can still add some content here and there but you should defiantly go off on a new endeavor even if you suck at the games.. that's honestly the fun of it and is pretty fun to watch in my opinion . Just as long as you have that smile back and your humor

The problem with Overwatch is Tanks want to be DPS. They want to do as much damage, have the high kill count, take a lot of damage, ect......
I remeber when tanks damage matched DPS. We had GOATS for far to long.
Tanks dont need to get kills. They should be close range, high damge at very close range, and be able to just tank damage like an actual tank.

I've been thinking about this counter swapping thing for a while now, and how it could be addressed. Why not have a lock out system? So at the start of every match, you choose three tanks. In the match you can only use those three tanks. Same for DPS same for support. That way your team would be more co-ordinated because they'd be picked in relation to your picks as a tank. Then it's more about how you play and with your best heroes rather than 'what is meta'

    • @Greynigma

(i know this isnt actually a thing, im just making an exaggerated point) like, dont get me wrong, not every ability needs to be something you have to think about using well. but not every ability needs to so easy a baby can get 5 piece play of the game on accident when its trying to eat the controller or slap the keyboard.

You don't talk shit- you speak from the heart and you put a lot into everything you do.
Despite not always agreeing with your takes, I watch your content cause you've got a great personality and you're incredibly easy to sit down and watch while I eat dinner or relax after a busy day. You might be having a hard time, but the way you react and have fun with others is a treat and you bring a lot of warmth to a room and lobby.
Do what makes you happy- your people will follow. If you are afraid, take a leap of faith and ask your community to support you as you find new things. You'll succeed, chief. Care about finding something fun.

Most of the time I agree, most of the time it isn’t selfish, but there’s also a line that people can cross VERY easily
(Not saying this is the case for flats considering that most of his viewers will still watch regardless of overwatch or not, but the line does exist)

Nah the line “It’s not selfish to not play this dog **** game overwatch” is real wisdom

No one wants to get on daddy blizzard bad side. As much as they try to justify themselves, no one is gonna say true criticism because its simply not good as a business decision.

Look at myth tsm. Fortnite all career, then switched up the content and fell off. That's what Flats is afraid of. You can do all sorts of content, but people will only vibe with certain games, and if lucky, certain personalities. That's why flats name his videos on different games as " Overwatch player playing ____ for the first time." Flats brand is ow guy, which is why you either need to have a fanbase that likes you or start off by being a variety gamer.

I recently got 11 of my friends together and we did 6v6 customs with voted hero bans and almost off of them had never played OW1. Everyone had a blast and started questioning why they went to 5v5. I’ve never felt so validated as an OW boomer

I’m literally in the middle of taking a leap of faith in my life and I was speaking to a friend about it. They sent me a picture that said, “I want to do this thing, then do it. But I’m scared. Then do it scared.” And it really struck a chord. It may be scary but if it’s for the betterment of your own happiness and health, then it’ll be worth it.

There's a wonderful song called Daydream by Lily Meola with a few lines that go "We've all got these big ideas, one day they're replaced with fears." and "Don't quit your daydream, it's your life that you're making, it ain't big enough if it doesn't scare the hell out of you. If it makes you nervous, it's probably worth it, why save it for sleep when you can be living your daydream?" the great lines are abundant in this song. "So scared of failure that we fail to try, turning around before the finish line, gotta fall for a minute before you can fly."
