Your tutorial was excellent start to finish. #30 Torx screwdriver/bit with extensions, #2/2P cross tip screwdriver, and a #10mm socket. Done in about an hour.

Taking my time, I was able to change a rear door handle for a 2004 Matrix in just under 1 1/2 hours...I tended to triple check my work as I didn't want to have to redo it - so I'm sure someone more experienced could have cut that in half. Only used four tools, the Torx screwdriver/bit, standard and phillips screwdrivers and a small crescent wrench. Local Toyota dealership quoted me $300 parts/labor - I picked up the handle at Amazon for $9 and completed it, with the help of your video, for a major savings. ...not sure if I owe you a commission or what... Thanks!

Great video, just replaced both sides. The only thing not covered was removing the window crank. I struggled a bit until I noticed the ring clip. It was still tricky to remove.
Thank you! I have been searching most of the afternoon for a video for this exact handle. I have a 2006 Toyota Corolla S and the screw that holds the cover in place was loose. When my daughter went to open the door, the cover, handle, and retainer fell off. Your video is exactly what I needed from taking everything apart to putting the handle back in and tightening the screw to hold the cover in place. I didn't even need new parts as the ones I had were all good. 5 stars to you my friend!!!
This was excellent. I would not have been able to do it without seeing this. However, it should be noted that if your car has manual windows, the crank has to be removed before the panel can be. This requires a special tool to remove the clip on the crank, which I did not have. Removing the clip with knives and screwdrivers is quite difficult.

The only thing I’d add is to mention that the little tab that connects the handle to the spring needs to be behind the handle as you insert it. The first time I replaced the handle it managed to not go underneath and the spring was not connected to the handle. Thankfully my dad pointed out the mechanism after I made the mistake. Otherwise, great video!

GREAT video! Now that I've seen you do it I at least have an idea of what to expect. We've got 2 handles to replace; both driver side doors (front and rear). I imagine the front door with the lock will be slightly more complex, but I'll/we'll give it a try. Given 62K views and growing tells me this is extremely common issue. Cheap plastic handles. Based on previous comments I'll just need to find the parts at my dealer - I won't have the patience to customize an ill fitted aftermarket part. Thank you for this. I just replaced both rear door handles, and I found that you actually don't need to remove the first door handle screw, just the second one. I removed them both on the first door, and the entire assembly on the inside of the door came off, which was kind of a pain to get back on. On the second door, I only removed the second screw, and it was a heck of a lot easier.

WHAT DETAIL about the blue lever??? The video has a blank black screen right where he discusses the blue lever and how it should work in conjunction with the door handle. Why the mystery? Did he have trouble getting them to work and so just cut that part out?
Thanks for the video. It made this job easy. Especially important is the part you include on getting the fork on to the pin. The only thing I would add is that if you don't get the fork on to the pin, then the outside handle will feel like it works but it won't work. The inside one will still work though.
An excellent video! I bought an after market door handle and it was a very poorly cast part. I had to file it to get it to fit.Stick with the factory handle.
Thank you for showing us on how to replaced door handle for Toyota Matrix. Mine was a Rav 4 2011 and it’s the same procedure as shown on this video. The handle won’t last long and you have to replace it if someone has the same part because Toyota has made it so cheap. They need to have a recall on the handle.

Really like the video! But would like to point out one thing... That thing on the inside of the door is not an ash tray, its the inner door grip so you close the door! Lol

I followed your instructions on my 03 Pontiac Vibe, but the door handle will not open the door. The mechanism pin is situated between the blue forks, but something must be missing from your instructions regarding the handle connection to the lock mechanism.

great, I fixed the rear door handle on the passenger side with no problem. The other side, the locking thing came off and now the door handle won't connect to the locking thing. I put the locking thing back on too. What can I try?
I have the same issue. My question is...what if you cannot get the door open? Is there a way to remove the inner facing to access the inside in order to replace the door handle? Hoping someone out there can help as this has been an issue for 4 years now.
Thanks for this, I was able to replace the handle on my 2004 Matrix. However, now the remote will not unlock the door and neither will the front power locks. Any idea what could have gone wrong? I've plugged everything back in.
My sliders for the front doors that hold them open seem worn out such that the door swings wide open without resistance. Do these wear out quickly, would I be smart to replace with used or should I just get new ones. I take it that the job might be easy but I don't see a video for this. Perhaps, because I don't know what they are called.

The window still gets power, it seems it's just the power lock that's not working.
