Thank you for the helpful video. The tips and knowing what to expect are key to doing a project like this without breaking everything. A couple of my old door panel clips did break, but I already had replacements from a Honda that were the same. Took about 15 minutes a side, and I sprayed some white lithium grease on the slider. What a difference with new door stops! Don't be scared, take the tips here and do this job, you'll be glad that you did.
I just fixed my dads door on his 2004 vibe. Well, didnt fix it but pushed the dent out far enough his window will work. You were absolutely right about how to remove the window control panel. You very likely saved me breaking it. My dad and i dont have a ton of cash i surely appreciate you making this video.

This helped me remove my door panel to replace the mirror without breaking anything. I removed the switch panel but the connector was stuck, even when pushing the release tab. For mirror access, I could leave the switch panel harness connected. Putting the door panel back took a lot of time and patience and was the hardest part for me. The forward portion of the panel would not catch on the top of the door properly. The tweeter was in the way too. Eventually I got it the door panel back on but if I paint the new mirror in the future, I will mask it off for painting instead of removing it.
Thanks worked great. Just knowing that I only had to find two screws and how to lift the parts apart made the job quick.

Sorry to hear you must have broke something as I did when I watched someone else's video. I on the other hand did not blame them but made my own video to help the next person and it does seem to have helped people.
I looked for your superior video but could not find it.
The best way to lift the window button bezel is to use a thin wide putty knife…life what you would use for drywall mud. Like a 4”. The idea is to push the claws (pawls?) in while lifting from the front. At the very least if you can get a less wide knife in there and work from the front rear ward. Doesn’t take much…but those Claws are notorious for breaking easily like the one at the rear. .
I have a red 2004 Matrix XR also! The driver door window and lock assembly is loose. This is the assembly that contains the switches--located on the grey plastic form, below the door handle. Perhaps it is broken at the lower point, as you suggest can happen. Do you know, can I replace this assembly singularly? And, if so, what is it called? I cannot find a replacement assembly online. Thank you.
The bezel and switches can be purchased separately. I bought an 04 Vibe (same as base Matrix) and had the same problem. Turns out the bezel was fine, but the switches had 2 broken screw mounts at the bottom. I fixed my switches and bought a new bezel since the old one was worn out.
Part number on bezel is 74232-01030. Amazon has one for under $21 (new).
New switches are $45 on Amazon (search for "2003-2008 Toyota Matrix Electric Power Window Control Switch NEW 1004")
