Thanks so much for making this vid! Had the same issue in my 2004 Toyota Avalon but pulling the rod didnt work. I ended up unscrewing the inside door cover and pulling back at the top, and with the window down and my head inside the window cavity I could see the outside door handle locking mechanism with a torch. Used a long skinny rod to press harder down on the mechanism and it opened! Child lock is now OFF! 😄
Thank you. This helped us get our door open so we can at least take child lock off and open from inside. Gotta replace the outside handle once it's warm

I have a 2003 Toyota RunX. I couldn't take the door handle from inside out because the door panel has to be removed first. What I did was I removed the door trim and used a thin piece of metal which happened to be a house door way trim and I pushed the metal thing that the exterior door handle attaches to, downwards and the door opened. If it wasn't for your video I doubt I would've got that idea.
@@ScottiesHobbies well i can say the.... Door is open! And now its time to fix it. So thank you. Seems like the childlock thing broke/shift. Anyway keep u posted. This fixed my accord 1999

Dude thanks for the hard work on your video had same problem with the Ford focus 2008 seems like it’s a common problem in the small cars come to find out all I had to do after watching you and this other guy do videos tearing up their car was to hold the handle up on the outside and fist bump the F out of it without Denting it and Wala the unlock popped up and I opened it then I WD-Ed The F out of the locking spot on the door.
