Just went to replace it & realized I had to have the door open to put the new handle on🤦🏽♀️your video saved me .. I took a wire bent a lil hook & literally pulled the door open in less than a minute. 🎉

Thank you for this video. We have a Kia Sorento the child lock is on and handle is broken. My husband fount a RUclips video on how to replace the handle. The man gave the name to the place where he ordered the handle for a few dollars not 200.00 as the dealership stated. He can’t remember the name of the place where he ordered the handle from. Both sides broke. You have to order left or right. You have to be careful not to drop the little screw or you have to take the inside panel off to get it. But only a few dollars. It maybe was universal car parts. So sorry we can’t remember the name. We will need it again I am sure.

excellent video! my kia sorento door was stuck for a long time, could not even get the company to fix it. when I opened the rear handle there was no white knob like the video but the cable was right in front...just used an allen key and pulled...voila the door opened and child lock was then put back open. now I have to buy a new handle and install it...DIY ftw!! thanks for the vid...

Thanks for the tip about unlocking the child lock from the inside. I have an issue where the hook holding to the outside handle came off and the child lock was on. I was able to use a screw driver to push the child lock to the unlock position. Now for the fun of taking the door apart to fix the outside handle.

I had this happen to me on a Hyundai accent , I needed to snap the bottom of the exterior handle out and pulled down on the handle which released the door. since the piece you used with the hanger was still attached to the handle but non functional. be sure to purchase a new handle before you do this.

Give this a try.... Open the driver/front door. Then, you should see the bolts holding the back door onto the car. Loosen the bolts, and the door will open. Then you can turn off the child lock.

Yes.. it will function as normal.. remember.. the only thing that's wrong is the outside door handle is missing.

door handle is plastic is broken.. but the lach is still in place.. and the lock is under the center lock divided by a pillar of metal.. 2006 proton..
