Pull the seats down, drill a hole, pop the switch. Your explanation is so simple and clear that although I have not started working on it yet but I feel like I have this problem in control. Cheers!!
I know it’s too late to tell you this. But I have the same problem. And you could of removed the interior door handle and pulled on the rod to open the door.(That’s how I did it.) so I know what I’m talking about.
As the outside door handle was broken already, I finished breaking it and used a flat head screwdriver to pop Down on the outside latch lever that is at the rear most notch of the outside door handle assembly.
Actually I been having with my ACCORD '00 exactly the same problem, but I didn't do any removal of the seats and also didn't drill any hole. Instead I took long and skinny flat screwdriver and forced it trough the seal on the level of child safety knob. There is little gap in between door and frame just enough to handle that screwdriver. Working with screwdriver as a lever up an down after couple tries I been able to unlock that knob.
Same problem on my 02 accord, exact same problem... all I did was took the panel off of the door from the inside and flipped the lever manually using a flathead and the door opened.
Actually theirs a way more simple way for the 98 02 accord all you have to do is unscrew the inside door handle and pull it off the door as you do so the door will open with the child lock on pls try this and you will be so happy you did..
Carlos this sounds like a much easier solution to a problem we're having with a 2000 Civic. Can you add more detail to your suggested process? A short video would be much appreciated, if at all possible.
It's a nice video but I hate to drill shit specialy when the car is beautiful...my method don't be scared or nervous the door card can come off just try and it didn't even get damaged and then super easy lol
I have a 98 Accord with the same exact dilema feom when I bought it... Totally gonna do this hopefully tomorrow. and post a video reply 😎 thanks for sharing this video
all unecesarry removals. all you have to do is use a metal blade, bendable like from a saw, and slide it in the door from the inside and it unlocks. this is fine if u want to destroy your car and have too much time on your hands. but even then still unecesarry.
"Please show us how to drill through your engine block"? that will really work....there's absolutely no reason to make any holes to get to the "child safety lock"..All you need to do is unscrew "Only 1 screw" by any of the rear passenger door/s, slightly loosen the inner handle, once off, you'll see this one single thin rod, pull it forward then open the door that's if the door won't open from the outside. "That is all" "Again, no need to make any holes anywhere in the car to open a stuck or malfuctioning door".

Same problem on my 02 accord, exact same problem... all I did was took the panel off of the door from the inside and flipped the lever manually using a flathead and the door opened.
No drilling required
Life saver. Thank you very much this was perfect.
Do you have any suggestions?
didnt really show us how he managed to open the door using the enlarged hole he made. So why did he make the hole anyway
Worked beautifully, thanks for the info.
You have to drill through both walls
My child lock is on and handle is broken. Can’t open door from inside or out and garage says remove back seat to fix.No money for that
Just can't see in there after the hole is drilled
"you just need to remove the engine to get to it..... "
Lol, bring it to the dealer
