    This was, by far, the most clear video I found on how to do this repair and made it possible for me to do the repair. Many, many thanks to dial2fast. I ran into a few things I ran into that may make your repair easier:
    1) I recommend putting a towel, rags, etc. inside the door frame whenever you are installing or removing bolts. I had a mounting bracket bolt go into the lock assembly and had to use a magnet to get it out. The small screw that holds the flip switch in place fell down somewhere in the assembly and was not visible or retrievable. If I had towels in place they would have fallen onto that instead of into the assembly.
    2) When you reinstall the bracket, be careful that the rod that connects to the lock cylinder is not between the bracket and the door. It is easy for it to get into there.
    3) I couldn't easily push the lock cylinder back in place. The grease was not an issue, the issue is that it is a tight fit between the mounting bracket and the door handle assembly. After being frustrated for about twenty minutes, I found a tip on another video that provided success. What worked for me was that I did not put the bolts in the mounting bracket. That gave me some flexibility/wiggle room The cylinder clicked right into place. Then I installed the bolts and the mounting plate.

    Best video so far!! Walked me through while I was at the salvage yard pulling parts. GREAT JOB!

    This helped me a lot. Granted my process was a bit different cause I went to a pick and pull to get a handle. For instance when I was getting the door handle off of the juck car, when I finally got the handle away from the door, I didn't have to pop the pin out (because I wanted it as well). For that final removal step I merely had to unscrew it from the metal arm. When reinstalling I just had to screw it back on, put the handle back in the door, bracket, key cylinder, plugs, door panel, more plugs and done. Having done many door handles before, they never went this smooth. A lot of your techniques will translate over to many other cars. Overall I think this is the best video on the subject I've ever seen.

    I didn't have one of those pic tools to remove the cylinder but once i was able to see where it was i was able to work a long thin flat head under it with some fiddling and popped it off... hope that helps anyone that's doing this.
    Other than that, yes this tutorial is absolutely perfect, no bs, no unnecessary talking just all the way in and all the way back out. Good stuff !!!

    currently doing this. that final rod at 5:45 was a pain to remove. ended up breaking the plastic part on the door handle to free it. then removed that soft plastic that's stuck on the rod with pliers.
    Just finished doing this job. Video helped a lot. I messed up and installed the lock cylinder before putting on the bracket. Had to remove everything including the clip on the door handle. Follow exactly and you shouldn't have issues.

      if i remove the handle, tighten the nut on the rod itself and then reassemble, will that adjust the door handle? mine works but feels worn out, and i think i can make it feel new again

    • @asdfkle8
      @asdfkle8 Месяц назад

      @@vivihominem171 honestly, if the door opens and closes, I'd leave it alone. When I did this, it was for my mom's car. Since then, she noticed that the door and the lock doesn't engage correctly. Happens intermittently. Haven't revisited since it's minor. Not sure what I did wrong.

Now I could show my 17 year old son the same video and get busy installing his door handle for his 1999 Honda Accord outside front left door handle. Great video Sir. Thanks again.

    • @dial2fast
      @dial2fast  4 года назад +1

      The installation of the lock cylinder is as shown in the video. I explained to leave the metal clip installed on the door handle 6:35. Then when you get to installing the lock cylinder, just put it straight in as shown at 7:41. That metal clip is spring loaded, so when you push the lock cylinder in, it will go in one way and will not come back out.

    • @koreymayo8884

      the lock actuator will only affect locking and unlocking. A broken door handle means even if its unlocked and you grab the handle the door still won't open.

    Keep in mind those that have the OEM security system, remove the wire from the holding position a quarter of the way down/ rear of the door panel. If you do not, you will break the prongs. Which I might add, is what Honda did. I had to order a new upper panel with cost $$ since it is leather padded.
    I own the 1999 Honda Accord EX V6, 4Dr Sedan.
    Those pain in the butt circular screw cap covers underneath the interior door pull. Still available through Honda, but overpriced. So, it's eBay I go for replacements.
