  • This is an abridged version of the live stream about 테니까 and 텐데. It contrasts them with (으)니까 and the 데 form (은데,ㄴ데,는데). It also shows how to use these together with other forms such as 만얀에 and the plain form, and how to use them in different tenses.

      Finishing sentences with conjunctions such as ~데, ~니까, ~고, ~지만 instead of normal endings like ~다/어/아요/etc is indirect way of speaking because it is basically to say things to yourself.

    • @GoBillyKorean

    • @GoBillyKorean
      @GoBillyKorean  4 года назад +1

      There's also a workbook for the first book, but yes I have no plans to make a 4th book. The idea was by the end of the 3rd book, a person could use what they know (+ practicing and learning on their own) to branch out and study anything about Korean that they're interested in. After book 3 I'd recommend choosing some sort of focus that you're interested in. For example, reading books, or conversations with natives, or translation. Then for materials, you can use literally anything out there in any order. You can also ask me if you have questions.

    제 휴대폰도 한글이 될 텐데 잘 몰라요 = (I assume) my phone can use hangul, but I don't know how to use it
    아마도 아직 밥을 먹었을 텐데요 = I assume that you haven't eaten yet.
    Are these correct?

    • @GoBillyKorean
      @GoBillyKorean  3 года назад +1

      No, to start with look at the 2nd sentence - you have "haven't" but there's no negative in the sentence (못 or 안). The rest is overall okay for the 2nd sentence. For the 1st sentence, you don't need to use this form - you can just say "I think." You wouldn't assume that unless every phone normally can use Hangul. But the 1st is okay in that sort of situation.

      @@paulcal3500 Yeah, the 1st is okay grammatically, just keep in mind what situation you'd be able to say "I assume..." in, since it can sometimes be unnecessary. Especially things about yourself - like saying "I assume that I..." would be awkward since you either think you can or can't.
