I never knew the next advertising frontier would be homebrew games for retro consoles. Wild stuff, and this game looks competently well made. Wild to think that there exists some decent Micky D's themed games out there, including most of all McDonald's Treasure Land Adventure for the MD/Genesis.
When I first came across this, I played like an 8-bit NES, Game Boy or Game Boy Color game. This game works on any hardware. Grimace's Birthday on a WideBoy64 or the Game Boy Player would be decent.
I went to a Summer Camp for Diabetics. There were 2 SNES games at the whole camp: "Super Mario World" and "Captain Novolin". You had to sneak to play Mario.... and "Captain Novolin".... ok, going off 20+ year old memories here, but I remember it being a sub-par side scrolling platformer (but without platforms). It had absolutely 0 to do with Diabetes except branding, food based enemies, and a between-levels screen where you pulled insulin into a syringe...... except you didn't get to control it, the game automatically did all the "Learning how to handle your Diabetes" stuff instead of letting the player control it, which makes ZERO sense when it's a mechanic in the game that could VERY EASILY be used to explain "Proper Amount of Insulin", "Undertreating With Insulin" and "Insulin Overdoses". Then again, looking for quality in an Edutainment title that was only really available through the makers of the Insulin brand ((IIRC))... be easier to find reasons to want to live in Hell as a demon by playing "DooM". ((For full ludicrousness: I choose "Final Doom: Plutonia Experiment" Map 11: "Hunted". You know the one... with only Arch-Viles and the track "Sweet Little Dead Bunny" playing in the background.))
Oh my gosh, I can’t believe that there was a video game made for one of the OG mascots for McDonald’s and for the game boy color on top of that?!❤❤😂❤ that is just too good of a delicious irony, that’s probably the pun they were going for am I right? I love how the whole concept just plays on nostalgia. Especially since I vaguely remember, there was a huge controversy and it is some thing caused the OG mascots to be discontinued? Like they aren’t in any of the advertisements anymore or used in promotional images… I don’t think any of them are even depicted in the restaurant anymore .💔😩 I loved these guys, grimace, the hamburgler, birdie- all of Ronald‘s buddies were such a big part of so many peoples childhoods this is really just impressive to have even come out this generation. It’s like a snarky punch back from beyond the grave😅
wait there's still game boy games being made till this day? i thought the gameboy games wouldn't be made no more i mean the game boy itself got discontinued exactly 20 years ago
Don’t forget MC Kids (McDonaldland in Europe) for the NES, that came out the same year as Global Gladiators. It’s a competent but stripped-down Super Mario 3 knockoff with one of the 8-bit era’s best soundtracks. I’m not kidding, it was composed by Charles Deenan of Fallout 1&2 fame and it absolutely rips.
Mixing 50fps narration footage with 60 fps game footage gave me a massive headache. Its 2023. Pal doesn't exist anymore. All displays can handle 60 fps. 50 fps timelines look like junk on standard 60hz displays.
Pretty cool tbh even though it probably took 10 minutes to beat. Cool that it emulates too. Would have been cool if they made a physical cart. I would have actually step foot in a Mcdonalds again for that. Now only thing I am wondering is why didn't Ronald come to Grimaces party. Only Hamburgler, Birdie and Mcnugget buddies?
You forgot MC Kids on the NES. Another McDonald's video game. Although I love the bootleg version Mc Mario! 😅 I've been trying to find it on cartridge but haven't had any luck yet. It's the same game as MC Kids only swapped out with Mario which is cool cause it's basically a Mario 3 rip off anyway. Lol. I love bootleg/hacked games 😂
So,...did Nintendo officially licence this? If they did then that's amazing. An officially licensed GBC game released 20 years after the system was discontinued! But if it's online only then probably not. That be a hell of a lawsuit though. Lol. Nintendo vs McDonald's! 😂
Am I the only one wondering why it took McDonalds 52 years to give their Milkshake mascot a flavor for him?
He’s not a milkshake mascot

@@hdofuu sure it's not "fry guys" ? Mandela Effect ?
Peter and Ashton’s flat, emotionless line readings had me rolling
When I came across this I thought it was a joke. Then I played it and didn't totally hate it because it's pretty well made for what it is.
It is only right for Ben to be the one to review this masterpiece
The best tribute to Grimace was when Marvel made him the main villain for two movies.

Idk if you're aware already, but there's also "McDonaldland" for gameboy & nes. PAL exclusive.
Yeah, I thought homebrew ports of faux-retro games would be as far as it went. Like the Fix-It Felix Jr. ports to the Genesis/Mega Drive
MCNUGGIES!!! I love it when Vidiots lore barrels headfirst into TripleJump videos.
1:27 Don't forget M.C. Kids. So it's 3 classic games
MC Kids was great and that's a nostalgic hill I'll die on
Game even works on real hardware. This on a gameboy player on TV would be pretty sick!
1:28 There was also a McDonalds game for the Nintendo DS btw.
Isn't grimace like 8 feet tall? So those green birds and squirrels are like 2 meters! That's womp rat size, crazy!
Top narration by Peter and Ash!!
I am so glad you did a video on this. I had submitted to weird news because I was like "WTF am I reading?!?"
I thought the McDonald's mascots were dead. Interesting.
can’t help but find this ad campaign appealing, maybe I’m just a sucker for weird gaming stuff
This is brilliant! Can we get a series of Ben playing all the weird promotional games companies have put out over the years? :D
When you get to the cake part you have to blow out the candles and pop the balloons...took me a few trys to figure it out.
This video is wasn't what I was expecting, but sure as hell needed it. This was amazing!

Also McKids NES game. A very Super Mario esque platformer.
It's a ridiculously good game for being a an advert
How do you get a physical copy for the GBC?
The best thing that Donald's ever released was back to the Future movie on VHS
I was wondering what my wife handed me from mcdonalds the other day.

Where would you even find this game for the GB color?
The skateboarding reminds me of that old flash game DJ Fu
Ok, but are they selling a cartridge? I can't find a cartridge. Obviously, I want to play this on my actual gbc.
You probably need some sort of SD card ROM reader for the GBC
@beaverinablender Not cool. They should make a cartridge.

Half right, the cover of the song was in Space Jam but not the original. Steve Miller Band did the original. The Seal cover was in Space Jam.
So did anyone else hear that McDonalds push this birthday all month just so they wouldn't have to mention Pride month???

Come home from some Friday evening drinks. A new TripleJump video! And it's a McDonald's Gameboy game... How much have I had to drink?
How do I get it for the game boy color?
this is great, now let’s get grimace into super smash bros.
when this game came out i immediately put it in my 2ds and played it
Say what you want about McDonalds or Wendys or KFC.
But I love the jokey marketting.
The only question I have for this is how do you download the rom?
i love triple jump!!!!!!
If I play it, I'm sure I'll be lovin' it.
Where do I go to get a physical copy of this game?
you cant
@@mattalan6618 in the video it says that it's compatible with physical Gameboy Colors.
the rom is indeed COMPATIBLE with physical GBC.
playable compatibility has nothing to do with PHYSICAL CARTRIDGE.

Can you play this on the orginal gameboy
