    I was diagnosed first as pre diabetic and the last year as diabetic. I do more “modified” keto, e.g. low carb than full blown keto and have lost 30+ lbs. however I have plateaued. I have gotten my A1C down to 5.7 but cannot get weight below197…..help in this area would be appreciated. The only diabetic med I take presently is Metformin and my doc just reduced my dose from 2 T bed to 1. Thanks! Glad I found your channel!

      What you described sounds a lot like what I've been calling my keto diet, except that I do also eat red meat to increase my iron, and I don't eat oatmeal anymore, because too many health gurus talk trash about it. But I used to love STRAIGHT, PLAIN oatmeal! And overnight oats was a treat! Since you like oatmeal, look into those. They're really good!😊

    I have two sons, they teased me about my weight. They said I should try to get back to the weight that I was living in Asia.
    Since I never had any health issues due to my weight, I never saw a real problem with it. But when I compared those pictures with what I saw in the mirror, I noticed a huge difference.
    Without thinking things through, I bet my children that I would lose 22 pounds (or 10 kilos) in three months. I wasn’t sure how to pull this off, but I thought exercise would be the way to go.
    So, I started to look for RUclips videos to watch while I did my workouts.
    Before long, I came across expert presentations about the ketogenic diet and thought that I would give it a try. Now, I feel great, and when I went for a medical checkup, all of my values were fantastic. My fatty liver disease was gone.

    Very very important: Keto means REDUCING carbs, not ELIMINATING carbs. NEVER NEVER NEVER reduce carbs to the point where you feel uncomfortable because it is damaging. Use low glycemic foods that have a low glycemic load. I eat fruit and add cucumber to reduce the sugar load on the body. Plus: eat your fat and protein first, then your carbs. Makes a whole world of difference. And learn to read food labels to understand sugar content. 4 grams of carbohydrate equals 1 teaspoon of sugar. Good luck everyone.

    I wasn’t deliberately trying to be on a Keto diet, but after speaking with a registered dietician I was told that’s what I was on. I lost over 30# and was not extremely over weight to begin and now I am being instructed to incorporate more carbohydrates and to gain at least 10#. I think it would be a good idea for me to check my ketone levels. What’s your opinion doctor?

      I say be very careful attempting keto. Many type2 diabetics claim keto diet solved their carb issues. I tried it for several weeks and only for sugar control, not weight loss. After a few weeks I felt very different, not well at all. IMO I was getting worse with less carbs and was recommended to get off keto as it was dangerous for me as a diabetic to have my body go into something I think is called ketoses?? Think that is what it is called. Actually had to add foods outside of the keto diet to add carbs to get my strength and energy up and the sick feeling it gave me. So, what good does the keto do again if you have to add carbs to feel better? I have to take insulin 2-4 times a day, that may make a difference as many type2 just need diet and exercise and maybe some medications, but I do feel much better now not doing keto than I did on keto, and weight gain is not my problem, maintaining my weight is as I tend to drop very easy.

I have been no carb - and ate a tiny amount of carb at two meals ( a bite of rice and a bite of bread) and my readings were 245-311 , and I had all the symptoms of DK. What is going on? I am worried

  • @Stephen_Strange
    @Stephen_Strange Год назад

    So many people doing 'Keto' have not done enough research and end up having problems because they are doing it carelessly.
    Use discernment.
    I think the only reason I am pre-diabetic, is because I am NOT doing KETO .

Thanks to your videos I have calmed myself down and follow your great advice. Just one question please... I am doing a prolonged fast (3-5 days) only water, coffee and green tea. I am on day 3, Glucose has dropped from 9mmol to 6.6mmol and my nutiritional Ketones is up to 2.8. I know if the nutritional ketones goes over 3mmol my blood may become more acidic. Is there something I can eat to curtail this, or must I stop the fast. I feel so good... just a little weak from hunger.
