    What a great demonstration of removing and replacing the window. Even without your video, that was a wonderful job. I can't thank you enough as you have given me the confidence to try and do this myself. Could you share with me again what caulking glue that I would need to replace this window? Thank you again for sharing

    Love to see updates on the scion. Can you please show us how to replace the serpentine belt? My scion is almost at 100k and I'd like to change it before it's needed.

    Much easier way: poke a hole through the adhesive, then stick a piece of MIG wire through the hole. That stuff is really strong, will cut right through the adhesive. Or, you can put a scraper blade in an oscillating multi-tool, it also goes right through it with little effort.

      I was thinking using a utility knife might work, too. What do you think? In any case, Toyota factory manual recommends your method (piano wire, to be exact) for removing decals, so I imagine it would work just as well on that glass.

      @@paulparoma no the stuff is very dense, you'll just snap the blade

      I just did a windshield. You are cutting through Erathane. It's like tire rubber. First cut with a utility knife (razor). If you make a pin hole and thread guitar wire, or high tension fishing wire, or a actual cable they sell for this at harbor freight...you are gonna have a real hard time if you don't first get it started with a razor. You will also probably crack it in the process, because you are using way more Force than is necessary to cut.
      I didn't have a razor when I first did this and I had to just use the cable in a junkyard that was about to close and it was pouring rain.
      I'm a total gym rat and that was one of the most brutal workouts in recent memory. GL.

    The way to remove a glued car window ; find yourself a pianostring and make a small opening in the glue then feed the tring into it and by making a sort of saw/saw movement you can cut the glue.

    Do you need to remove all the old adhesive from the glass and body frame before putting new adhesive on?

    • @plooob1103
      @plooob1103 8 дней назад +1

      Yes, you typically don't want to put new sealer on old sealer due to adhesion issues (same thing with the windshield, rear windshield, etc.)

    What a shame you lost you original footage..... Have you ever tried stainless steel wire to cut those windows..... I've done many that way ..... And some vehicles have actual screws holding the quarter glass in....those plastic pins are easier!

  • @thelegend3981

    does that work? yes it does but that quarter glass is encapsulated. you blade should be sharp on one side so the blade travels only one way. you can go towards the body or glass, sense that glass is encapsulated go towards the body so you don't touch the encapsulation. some parts of the video you can see you did cut the Moulding. but good job for just a puddy. proper tools make the job come out better.

    The problem with 2-door cars is just that: only 2 doors. Getting in the back is always a pain, sometimes literally.

    • @paulparoma
      @paulparoma 3 года назад

      @Camaro 1968 I guess for some people, but you don't see a lot of coupes anymore, except sports cars. It used to be that almost all models had a choice of 2 or 4 doors.

    • @paulparoma
      @paulparoma 3 года назад

      @Camaro 1968 I would say sedans are not even in the "most" category anymore. 70% of new vehicles sold in the US last year were trucks. Europe still enjoys a good station wagon here and there, but is getting into the same craze, too.

    Never, never, never use a dull painters putty knife to remove a factory fixed glass panel that is not already damaged or broken. You can easily scratch the glass, damage the black painted edging on the glass or break the tempered panel altogether. Be smart, use a length of stainless steel welding wire from your MIG welder. Heck, you can even use a piece of flux core MIG wire to easily poke through the 3M mastic and simply maneuver the wire around the window to the clips in a matter of a few minutes. NO SWEATING I PROMISE. But seriously, why remove the window in the first place? It was completely unnecessary and a giant waste of time and material. Why are Europeans so stubborn? Why didn't you consult your subscribers and simply ask us how to do this job? Better still, why not just watch a youtube video on vehicle window removal hacks? Tisk-tish.

    • @paulparoma
      @paulparoma 3 года назад +3

      I was thinking the same. Why even remove the stupid window? Maybe he feels it will be easier for him to paint the panel with no window in place?

    • @steveguest8028
      @steveguest8028 2 года назад +1

      Ive tried removing windows with mig wire/piano wire its nowhere near easy, besides how would you prevent damaging the bodywork(window surround)using wire ?
