  • Some losers broke into my car! So I'm replacing my rear quarter window, which is a fixed glass pane at the back of the rear door.
    To do this job properly on the Mondeo hatchback featured, you need to lower the main window glass so as to be able to move the quarter glass stile forward. So this video covers that as well as removing the door card for access.
    Quarter glass can be pricey, even from wreckers. Try Amazon searches ~

    I can relate. I had to replace the same glass first as someone broke it luckily not into pieces, it all cracked but still was in place. But then it got worse. Last summer some buggers smashed my rear window while I was visiting France 3500 km away from home and stole some of the valuable belongings from the hatchback. Had to pay 400 euros for having it replaced.

      Too bad. These ones don't appear to have realized they could access the boot by folding the rear seats down, they tried to open the hatch but despite being at the car for 10 mins the stuff in my boot was safe. At least they don't make them too smart.

      Someone did that to me aswell...
      I never leave anything valuable inside my car, and yet i got my window broken...
      fourtunateley, this person didnt' manage to get in, and just left me with a cracked window, so at least the rain doesen't come in...
      Next thing i'm buying is an anti thief film... and a window of course...

      @@simpleinverso8628 the quarter window is small and doesn't make much sound when broken. I did some research and i think thieves break it to gain access to the trunk or something. But yeah, the thieves pulled up to a parking lot, slowly cruising and when they passed my car they stopped couple feet past my car, and decided to reverse park next to mine. And then the person sitting in shotgun got out and tried to get in to my car. After failing their attempt they drove off 1 min after. Just to come out of the store to see a broken window and my passenger seat pulled down. I also looked into antitheft film and it looked solid.

    I have to replace both main and quarter glass on my estate version. I bought two new doors 1 front and 1 rear, but sadly the rear glass wasn't tinted on the replacement. so I will have to swap it over :) I can't live without tinted windows - mainly for security and comfort

    Hi Craig! Great video as always. I'm sorry that someone broke your Mondy window. I heard that this quarter window rubber/sealant is one of the wind noise sources. So, watching this video I was wondering if you can make a video which will cover all sources of wind noise on Mondeo mk3 and how to fix it. Currently on my (2002) wind noise is starting to shows above 90kmh/56mph and I think it comes from everywhere.

    Good Video but actually the vent glass and quarter glass on vehicles is sold less frequently and in demand less so that's why it's more expensive automotive glass is purely supply in demand if the demand is high the supply usually will be high if the demand is low the price goes up because they don't sell that many of that part so less aftermarket manufacturers focus on making that part type. That's why common vehicles are cheaper to replace windows for because there is more demand and more supply for the part for example windshields for Camrys, corollas, Silverados are much cheaper than a BMW X5 or Chevy Corvette. This is just based on my personal experience fixing, buying and selling glass for close to 2 decades.

    Hey i was wondering do you need to put some glue on the rubbers ? im about to replace my own window and some of my friends said you need to glue it but in this video i saw that you only screw those screws (i have the same car) and thats it ? will it hold good enuf ?

    • @CraigsDIY
      @CraigsDIY  4 года назад

      Sure, so long as the rubber is in good condition. The screws and fitment compress the rubber seals. Only if they or the frame is bent/damaged would you want to use sealant.

    This is for any person that wants to put a car thieve through pain . Only for people with a quarter glass on rear doors . When a thieve breaks the quarter glass their motive is to put arm through and flick the button to open door with finger . Take a Stanley knifes blade and break 3 pieces off . Stick it to the inside back of the black long divider with blue tac . When they place there arm through it , it will cut their whole arm . Also take some smaller blades and blue tac it to the button perfectly so when they flick button their finger will be badly cut . And the last thing have a kill switch installed and hide switch very well . The pain from the low life will be for nothing lol. Ha ha ha
