  • In this video I demonstrate how to replace a smashed quarter window in a BL Mazda 3 sedan (2009 to 2013). Note that this same method works for the hatch, it just looks a bit different.
    Cameraman: my brother Noel.
    Me: Paul in Perth.
The centre-punch belonged to our Dad - Len.
This video is part of a series on replacing all the side windows on a BL. See • BL Mazda 3 Side window... .
Be kind to one another. All the best, Paul.

Lookes farlie easy. My daughter just got a 2012 chrysler 200 with a missing quarter glass, and this looks close enough to it. Thanks for the detailed video!

One thing I would suggest is that you wear safety glasses when handling broken glass. Overall, great video!

Hi John, I do agree. The problem for me is that my up-close eyesight is bad at the best of times, that safety glasses render me nearly blind.
But I do agree. Broken glass is a hazard to eyes, hands and more for sure.
      Thanks for watching and commenting.

Great work Paul. Well done. About that plastic that in process was damaged, I wold like to see a video of repairing it. If you know how to, please make a video on this theme. Thanks for sharing this with us. With love from Chișinau, Moldova.

      Hi Tolea,
the first thing I want to say is that when I do these repairs without a camera, I do them in a natural body position and not so rushed, and I promise you that I very rarely damage them.
So if you do the same: natural position and not rushed - then you probably won't damage them either.
However, to answer your question, I suspect that some of the damaged plastic could be repaired with a sharp razorblade that is used to skim the roughened edge.
Another possibility would be to use a hair dryer on the plastic to soften it up, and then using a flat spatula to remould the plastic to the correct shape.
      Something like that.
      Thanks for watching and commenting.
      Paul.
