I just replaced the headlights on my friends 07 Mazda 3. You can save a lot of time without removing the bumper completely. Just follow the steps except when you get underneath the car. You only need to remove the 8mm screws that are at the bottom of the bumper and no need to disconnect any wires on it. The bumper can be lowered enough to get to the two 10mm bolts that hold the headlights in place. The Phillip screw can be removed while the headlight is off. I did both in less than an hour.
This is THE best “how-to” car repair video I’ve ever seen. The young lady does a great job explaining the process. No steps omitted. Video camera footage also excellent. Oh, and by the way, the 1A Auto Parts replacement headlights are very good. Thank you all for offering such good parts and this great video.
I have to admit, if it weren't for your videos, I would be reading the manuals. I truly apppreciate this lady in the video, she makes it seem so easy. I bought the parts for my Mazda 3 S Hatchback from you guys, and have replaced quite a few parts with a few of your videos. Appreciate it the videos so much. Thank You
Thanks for the video assistance. My son and I replaced the headlights in the driveway and had everything buttoned back up in two hours. We ordered an assortment of replacement plastic clips with the headlights which helped out as many were loose, missing or already broken.

For those who are stuggling heaps to get the clip back on the trick is at 11.35 she lines up square end on the headlight in between two nubs and this let's the clip travel a little further then if it isn't I really struggled to understand this on alot of over videos.
Thanks to the view at 11:47 I finally understand how that damned clip for low-beam bulb works. I always struggled with it while replacing bulbs. I hope now I will be able to do it faster.

By to change the bulb, you can do that from inside the hood. To replace the headlight assembly, you’ll need to do all this. The video is named VERY poorly.
For bulb replacement this is a necessary step if you have factory HID bulbs. There is not enough room at the back of the lens housing to remove and replace the bulbs without shifting the lens forward and that requires removing the bumper.
No the sedan has a more pointy slimmer housing as the hatchback is more curvy. I have an 09 mazda 3 hatchback and I can use mazda speed ones but not sedan ones
07 Mazda 3 with adjustable headlight tilt the same? Not actually sure what moves while adjusting from inside the cab, if it's the headlight brackets or bulbs or what?
not for the bulb.... you can reach your hand behind the headlight assembly to get the bulb out. what she's showing ia a video on replacing the whole headlight assembly. She reused the old bulbs because their not blown out :|. Now for the current model Mazda 3 you do have to take off the whole bumper from what I understand.
to get the headlight bulb out all you have to do is first disconnect the headlight connector, pull off that round rubber moisture guard around the bulb connector then pull out the bulb take off the second connector pop in your new light and opposite of removal for reinstallation.
Why are headlights different from mazda 3 & mazdaspeed 3? So complicated. Should make replaceable custom or factory headlights readily available for 07-09 mazdaspeed 3 also. When i do find a new pair, it would cost way over $200 a pair!
+Marlon Burgos Thanks for watching! That would be convenient, but unfortunately the sedans and hatchbacks use different headlights. If you have a Speed model just make sure you purchase a set for the hatchback model. You will also want to make sure you purchase the correct style for HID or halogen depending on what you have. 1aauto.com
Just Drill 3 Holes Into You're Bumper On Each Side To Access The Screws An Bolts ... Changing Headlights Will Be a Breeze From Then On Plus You've increased Air Cooling 😁😂😎😀😏
Okay I literally just did replaced both of my headlights in record time. I think it took me 3 minutes for the driver side and 4 minutes for the passenger. The thing that helped the most was that it's bright outside. Last time it took me half an hour because it was dark and I was using my phones flashlight. Never again will I do that. Super easy in broad daylight!!
The original headlights were not in bad shape they just needed to be mildly restored and it would have been just fine. I'm guessing it was just to make the video

the heck cars are like apple computers, you need to change the light bulb , need to drop and remove and replace bumper... what next you need an oil change? remove the motor turn upside down, use model a pentalobe funel that dealer supplied to change oil . tap gas clutch 3x turn off 3x and pray to buddha that you all did it right.
"Lol at a great price".... Those original oem assemblies are stupid expensive. Better off buying aftermarket parts that cost half the price AND look better most of the time.

How do you take the headlight out without undoing the Philips screw underneath it first though?

It sucks that's it packed so tight. I generally go by feel.
Is there a kit that comes with all the wrenches and screws I’d need just for car diys like this?
Well done video. Thank you!
Just to take out a headlight I have to take apart the entire front of the car!!!
By to change the bulb, you can do that from inside the hood.
To replace the headlight assembly, you’ll need to do all this.
The video is named VERY poorly.

Are the hatchback and sedan headlights a match? assuming they are from the same year ?
No the sedan has a more pointy slimmer housing as the hatchback is more curvy. I have an 09 mazda 3 hatchback and I can use mazda speed ones but not sedan ones
Génial
Merci pour la video
What ridiculous design! All this just to replace a headlight!
Ronald Harrison yes. I tought i bought the right car ☹️
Honda is the same also. It is the same process for a 1999 Honda CR-V.
I know right? I had to really try to remove the spring on the driver side headlight lol. My poor spine
Designed to make your life difficult. They could've designed this to me much, much easier to replace. Difficult by design. Thanks, Mazda.
I loathe changing my headlight bulbs.
The reason they make this so complicated to change a light bulb, is to get you in the dealership so you have to give them a lot of money.
That was my hunch. Same with the cabin air filter in these.
Would I have to use the stock lights or can I put new LED's in?
I used LEDs
seems to have a tough time with the push tabs lol
07 Mazda 3 with adjustable headlight tilt the same? Not actually sure what moves while adjusting from inside the cab, if it's the headlight brackets or bulbs or what?
Now if they just made the lenses glass, no one would have to do this!
To remove the headlight assembly, simply remove the engine first to get access.
This is a design problem.
If I'm only going to change one, how can I adjust the lights so they are at the same level?
+santiago frade Thanks for watching! We have a video on how to properly aim headlights here: ruclips.net/video/GWvSWBlAwnI/видео.html
all of this for a light bulb change, great Mazda

Why my mazda 3 when i put in high beam my headlight, its just wider the light not go straight?please help me
It’s too bad you need to removed the engine & trans, to get to those headlights
Are you serious do I seriously have to take out an entire bumper to replace a headlight
Its a pain

@@SlampthChompth so you didnt take the bumper off? How did you access the bolts to remove the housing?
@@ke6533 I think Caleb is talking about changing just the bulbs. He's confused.
@@ke6533 sorry I was just talking about the bulbs themselves.
The original headlights were not in bad shape they just needed to be mildly restored and it would have been just fine. I'm guessing it was just to make the video
OMG this is such a palaver, and I've already bought the replacement headlamp....
Thank you for movie

Exelent
👍
ohhh of course the hatchback lights are more than the sedan......great!
What the lamp number?
Volkswagons were great if only because replacing things was very straightforward.
What? I had to do the same thing with my Jetta; take off the whole bumper and all.
They don't tell you the cost to replaced they don't want you to shock you!
Dang all that work to change a headlight 😣
Its always easier with a hoist
Mazda needs to do better in accessing headlights. It. Shouldn’t be so much work!!
Why so difficult ?
How bout video to replace lens only

I reckon this comment is just a joke but it isn't for changing a bulb, but the entire assembly.
You do have the option of turning the car upside down to drain oil
"Lol at a great price".... Those original oem assemblies are stupid expensive. Better off buying aftermarket parts that cost half the price AND look better most of the time.
Seems like half the steps you don’t need to do.
camera angle terrible
Pain in the ass .
LOL! What a POS design.
Hate it when they show you stuff like opening the hood.
