- The Mazda3's audio system has a lot of hidden features which could cause quite a surprise and annoyance to an unsuspecting owner while they're driving. The interior has a few other peculiar features and design flaws, and the engine reveals the car's true corporate design origin.

Who else has a mazda 3?
Dylan Tauscheck 2006 Hatch.
I've had a 3 since 2007 and it runs great. Did a two week, 3k-mile road trip in it last May from FL to Memphis, Louisville, Chicago, Wisconsin, Iowa, Arkansas, Missippi and a couple other states I don't remember. Ran like a champ even when I had to take a detour on a dirt road that looked like it hadn't been maintained since Noah's Flood. Love my car, even with its quirks. And I'm fond of telling people a Mazda is just a Ford that runs.
Me
Thinking about trading my 05 trailblazer with 234k on it for a 07 mazda 3i with 211k not sure about it going to look at it today.
Me 07
This man lives his life in the extreme.
LarryKinobi-- so devious
i have a 2009 mazda 3 and it blows away other cars I have used. Audio system is amazing, handling is amazing, easy to see out of, comfort, quick acceleration, easy to mod, good looking (i do have premium options on everything though)
TunerCarFan I've got an '09 too and love it but the sound system isn't that great (I transferred my speakers, subs, and amps from my old vehicle, it blows most everything out of the water).
The thing I love about my Mazda is that after having had a 4x4 truck it, I gotta say it does absolutely amazing in the snow when you turn off DSC and put it into manual mode,
KJ110813 - Is yours automatic? What’s DSC?
Ive got an 08 and i love it audio blows away most current cars. Zoom zoom MFers lol
I have a 2011 Mazda 3 that's a beater/daily for me after my dad put 200 thousand miles on it and he has also only done basic maintenance on the car so most of the car is still factory but it still runs and drives amazing, I'm also surprised i havnt blown the speakers
I bought my first car today, a Mazda 3 advanced sedan 2009. So happy:)
The original title of the video was "How to annoy a Mazda3 owner", and it turns out most viewers did get annoyed. I later changed the title to something less likely to cause complaints.
Should have left it. This is hilarious!
The original title was great! I didn't know that the Mazda 3 had such a rabid following.
The rain is really relaxing...
This video was actually quite helpful when I test drove a Mazda 3 because it show'd me how to change region settings (like to Celsius, like the rest of the world uses) and to test speakers, check compartments, check signal strength, check if anything was stuck in the hand brake. So it helped me decide to buy my 2007 Mazda 3. Thanks!
Thanks for the help changing the clock to 24hr and celcius, that fahrenheit was driving me crazy
Did this guy get in your car and jack with things too? Lol.
These cars are well built. Even with a little abusive maintenance on it, it still survives
Just got a secondhand Mazda 1.6L V 2007. At it's 82k mileage which is fantastic! Exterior and interior is superb! I really want to meet the original owner to give my appreciation!
Who cares, the rain sound inside the car makes it all worth it.
I just bought one of these and suspect that one of the speakers is blown.. that circling audio trick will help me find which one, thanks!
Christiana how
@@verneralistun1679 Voice coil is burnt, or scratchy.
the speakers changing really got me and then combined with a broken screen really got me I freaking lost it on the dipstick
The sound going round in circles needs to be a feature on all cars :P
There is also a cassette player for the Mazda3 but it is extremely rare. It goes in the space between the knobs that says "Multi Function Audio System." Behind that panel is a blank space for either the cassette player or MiniDisc player (even more rare!) accessory.
Your radio is from GTA?
I used to watch you as a kid. I remember vaguely you had your own radio station setup in your backyard that played all your songs from a pc when you went grocery shopping. I recently bought a Mazda 3 sport as a daily driver to keep miles off my Infinitis and I was looking for audio upgrade videos and found this one. Small world when it comes to the internet I see.
Why the thumbs down? This guy is hilarious.

Pimpfluid Productions Probably Mazda owners...
Because he is an idiot!
Classic 🤣🤣
@@applescruff1969 pretty sure most of the audience here are mazda owners but okie..
Celsius is normal
Normal is relative.
Not in US.
Matt Steelman
The US is far from normal.
CricketboyStudios so is anybody who pays attention to cricket!
CricketboyStudios actually us is far from normal cuz all the rest of the world uses celsius...
The Celsius to Fahrenheit button combination doesn't seem to work for Australia/New Zealand Mazda3 models for some reason. Most of the other hidden features work though...
You can also ask the owner if it's easy to replace cabin air filter :)
Had mine done qt the dealer while the car was in for a recall.. because fck crawling around under the glovebox and breaking/shorting out the sensor, some stealership mechanic got to experience that bit of "fun".
Funny stuff, thanks. The MOST annoying thing about my '08 3 is changing the oil. The cutout in the under plastic panel doesn't match the position of the oil filter. So, you have to drop the entire tray to take the filter off. Stinks for a car of this caliber. I had to rectify it myself with my trusty Dremel tool. Loosing and breaking some clips and screws in the process.
i just ripped mine off
You forgot the part where you change the transmission to manual.
That really confuses the american friend with the 24h clocks and celsius and all.
I am american, mine is a manual and I read out 24 hours on my watch. I don't really use celsius but I know roughly the equivalents. I'm not stupid. I'm also texan though not just american. Yes texas is a country. Lol
@@austincastillo9518 i can confirm texas is a country
Isn't it something normal with 24 Hour clock system? I don't understand how would that annoying anyone.
@@austincastillo9518 same here, love it down here in etx
I've lost so many things in the extra large glove compartment (Also fun fact, the Ford actually licensed their Duratec from the Mazda one!) (Also it's always the FoMoCo parts that break lol)
I miss my Mazda3. I miss the orange glow, the way those lights move when you change the volume, I miss its styling, its interior colours, its sportyness...
Some guy drove into the back of me and it got written off. I have a Tribute now, so I have a lot more head room and a better seat, but it's not the same.
+Hiro Fox I miss mine too. Mine rusted away, and the 3rd gear was gone.
jayive34 Ouch. The tow truck driver who showed up to the accident said that Mazdas had a big rust problem. Something to do with improper undercoating.
Hiro Fox It's true. I got my license revoked for 3 months when I my Mazda 3. One year old disk brakes, gone.
I have one and I also like the orange backdrop to it. It's good except the model I have has manual windows and locks. #Sad!
@TheYoooth When it starts pouring rain (like it did in this video) and you need to close your car's windows quickly, then yes, needing to find, insert, and turn your ignition key is an unnecessary annoyance and delay.
It would be much better if all cars with power windows let you open or close all the windows simply by holding the key in the unlock or lock position in the driver's door, like you can do on Volkswagens, but most other brands do not have this feature.
Neat trick with the RF signal meter. I'll have to keep that in mind. I'm a broadcast engineer and sometimes it'd be nice for me to know whether or not one of my stations is coming in wonky because tropospheric ducting is making another station come in on top of it, or if I'm just plain too far away. My 6 probably has the same diagnostic options tucked away in there.
When this first generation came out, the competition such as the corolla had nothing to say about this. This cemented Mazda in my country (the first mazda was a (BG 323). it was ahead of its time.
I'm not rich. That's why I got the cheapest possible Mazda3 with manual-everything!
Manual everything is more lightweight
Same here i just got my first mazda
I have a 2008 Mazda 3, with a 2.3L engine.
In addition to the Ford markings on the dipstick, I also found it on the fuse box under the glove compartment.
Two big annoyances for me are the difficulty in replacing the cabin filters and the PCV valve. I can just remove the filters and not replace them, but I'll almost certainly be paying a mechanic to change the PCV valve.
The radio in my 2011 Mazda2 has the same signal strength meter by holding down the power button + the 2 preset, so it probably works on a lot of Mazda radios.
Yes, a lot of modern car radios have these diagnostic features. I just wish there was some way to adjust the stereo blend; this radio plays most FM stations in mono (even when the "ST" is lit) unless the signal is very, very strong. On my VW's radio I found a trimmer on the back to adjust it, and I turned it all the way down so that even weak FM stations play in stereo.
Mazda and ford have worked together for years... its not like anyone tried to hide that fact. Ford had a 33% stake in the company. For example a ford ranger is simply a mazda b3000 and vice versa. However, ford no longer owns that 33% and mazdas are now 100% manufactured, assembled, and shipped from japan.
tribute and escape aswell.
since when
lifted0422 since the last generation escape
mazda6 2013 and back was made off same assembly line as fusion.
Some will be shipped from Mexico soon. Ask Volkswagon how that went in terms of quality.
Take out the dip stick and tell them they are actually driving a Ford. lol
Ford had bought Mazda but after the recession they parted ways. Mazda's mzr and mzr-r motors were built by ford.
@@swatrifeman ford didn't buy Mazda they had 1/3 of Mazda's shares then sold them
Strange place for a dipstick?...thats even more annoying coz thats where my oil filler cap sits on a 2006 mazda 3
I have a mazda3 2006 here in Europe and my dipstick doesn't look like that and there is nothing mentioned about Ford on it.
@@paul2334 they only sold 20% or in other words just enough that they don't have control over the cmpany
It never ceased to amaze me that people watch a video called "How to annoy a Mazda3 owner", and then complain because they get annoyed by it! Isn't that the whole point!?
I have been watching YT for years now. I have never laughed at a video like this in a long time. The amount of comments is astounding. All about a Mazda 3.
wazz up, i have a prob on my mazda 3, i cannot see the aux system on the radio screen. where can i find it. i already install aux cable kit, and nothings happened. please help. thanks
I have a Mazda 3 sport 2010 plate and its awesome good on fuel and drives fantastic looks great and a real head Turner when clean and polished.
You sir are a Troll God! And I love how it was the Manic Monday song going around in circles, one speaker at a time. Great vid
I like the Versa. For the price you can't beat the amount of interior room it has. I drove one of the $9990 base models and was really impressed. It's tuned more for comfort than sportiness, but still not a bad ride -- better than a Corolla or Cobalt, that's for sure.
The Mazda3 is based on the same platform as the Volvo S40 and European Ford Focus, and you can really feel the Euro influence in the way it drives, compared to Mazda's previous Japanese engineered models.
Damn 13 years ago and only one like
The speaker going in circle thing was hilarious, def gonna do that to my friend
Thanks! I'm glad you liked it! :-)
how does the CD system work.I know it has a stacker(I have just bought a 2008 model using my insurance payout from my old car).do I have to put them all at once in or can i use the CD's just one at a time.any help please.
@TheYoooth 2008. And I prefer manual windows, because you can open or close them at any time, without needing the ignition on.
Can u help me how to bring back the sound system of Mazda 3 . Every thing appears on the display but there is no sound . Please help me
ooh I like the speaker test feature, gonna steal that little hack.
I owned a 2008.5 Mazdaspeed 3. Fun car. Had an issue with the stereo where a certain volume level, bass is cut off. Mazda finally admitted it was an issue and updated the firmware, but still required the entire stereo to be replaced. No issues since. Decent sounding for a non-Bose model.
No, I'm very happy with it! I'm just having fun with some of its quirks.
Finally, now I know how to prank myself
I feel like the two different 7s once pointed out would make certain people wanna sell.
@TheYoooth If all cars had power windows as good as Volkswagen, then I would not be complaining. In addition to the open/close via driver's door key feature I mentioned, VW also gives you auto-down on all four windows, and 15 minutes of retained accessory power after you turn off the ignition. Mazda and most other brands only give you auto-up/down on the driver's window, and only about 30 seconds of retained accessory power (again, for the driver's window only).
I have an 08 Mazdaspeed 3. So this video was an awesome tutorial for all the crap I didn't know my car could do...thanks!
I have this car. But it says blinking "CODE" so how do I reset that? I can't use the radio...
Well I use celsius and 24 hour time and this is hella useful. Thank you good sir.
@bbishoppcm So far it's been very good to me. I compared the Mazda3 to many other cars in its class and the only one which was nearly as fun to drive was the Ford Focus -- as you'd except, since the Focus and Mazda3 use the same engine and a very similar chassis. I still love VWs, too, but the new ones are a bit above my price range.
Hey man ,
I need your help please I have Mazda 3 1.6L z6 engine there are a sensor in the intake manifold the sticker on it says boost sensor it's on the right of the car.
it has a vacuum hose short one not connect to any thing is it normal ?
Please need help !!!
Haha, now I really want to get a Mazda3 when I get my licence. The things that I don't understand are the features where all the indicators on the radio come on, and the alternating speaker thing.
Great tutorial I never knew how to properly use all my settings..thanks
I just got a Mazda 3 2004 and has no port for cd. How do I play music beyond Radio????
PLEASE HELP ME!
Please I need your help ... how can I activate the grades because I do not mark them?
@CustomCars100 If you take off the center console trim cover, you should be able to retrieve some of it. It's not difficult, you just unscrew the shift knob, and then you can pull it up and out.
@vwestlife so youre saying 24h setting and tmp in celsius is not normal?
Not in my part of the world.
and having a large glovebox is annoying?
VWestlife all these things could be changed with slight modifications are stop driving with douchbag friends changing ur stereo...and for the windows, u got the base of base model..
The original title of the video was "How to annoy a Mazda3 owner", and it turns out most viewers did get annoyed. I recently changed the title to something less likely to cause complaints, or at least I hope so.
I have 08 Mazda 3 with the boss system and all but one back speaker has stopped working anybody got any suggestions on how to fix.
My mazda 3 doesn't have temputure display . How do i enable it?
Thanks Sir just bought mazda 3 2005 radio plays but CD runs but no sound help please
Dude the glove compartment is def big af lol
my mazda 3 2004 maxx sport doesnt have temperate and fan speed on the LCD display how to activate it?
I have Mazda 3 2009 Automatic transmission, and the Engine injection sensor still light. What happen to my car ??? Anyone know the problems ???
How can I activate the degrees if they appear off? please help
I got my car 6 months ago.... this is a Great video 😂
Do you still have the car? I just bought one so I’m curious.
"The owners mammal"
I actually found this video helpful to find different hidden features on my car xD
wow I was given a Mazda Axela by my Sister a few weeks ago they've had for like 9 years brought It new and the car never went over 120km. neways I was looking for the treble and bass on the car stereo....thanks for showing the other hidden features 🙂
Your car is clean as hell im jealous
I always wanted to figure out how to change the "Hello" greeting to something a bit more snarky. :)
change it to "are you as turned on as i am"? or "dont push my buttons...!"
Although my 2009 is by far the WORST car I've ever owned for winter driving, (Ohio) it has been one of the BEST as far as being trouble-free. 30-40 MPG, cheap to insure, can hold its own on the highway, everything still works, no major failures (yet). Just change the oil and do routine maintenance, and it's good as gold.
@cbehr91 Yes, we had very heavy rain today... lots of flooding and road closures.
Lol many things I didn't even know about my car
What was funny is that the speaker channel rotation thing was almost to the exact same bass drum beat of Manic Monday.
How do I bring up the fuel consumption display
My 2011 Mazda2 has power windows, but they do not operate with the key like that. Also only the driver's window has auto up/down.
I just bought one, Tuesday this week.. wicked stereo.. bit frustrating to discover no Aux input or USB option far as the radio options Go.. but it did come with a 6stacker cd player.. so I guess today I'm back to the old days of Burning making new music disc's
Which year is this? I have a 2005 one and have never seen the temperature show up in the radio display
If you're going to insult me, at least type it properly: "YOU'RE an idiot."
Hey guys, I have mazda 3 2007 1.6di. I need to turn off spraying headlights, do You someone know where i can turn it off? Because it splash all of my car
Wow I did not know a lot of these, I have an imported one from Japan, the frequency of FM channels only goes to 90!! Does anyone know how to maybe set this?
What course the K M H gauge to stop on the Mazda biante 2009 models
@allboutk A decade ago, Ford owned 1/3rd of Mazda, but since then they've sold off some of their share.
@TheYoooth I drive a 3 with manual windows as well -- the choice was easy. As nice as it is to be able to open all 4 windows on the highway, I've had to replace each window regulator/motor on my wife's car at least 2 times each in the life of the car. At $400 per window repair, it adds-up.
Lol,love the video I have a Mazda and absoulty cannot get into the back of the glove box while driving or in the driver's side...annoying
Interesting. A lot of these hidden commands sound like debug techniques
Actually the Tritec engine was used in the PT Cruiser, not the Neon, and only outside the USA. The current generation of MINI uses Peugeot engines.
Ok, I watched this hoping to find a way to fix my stereo display, but this is a brilliant piece of trolling. Thank you.
@MixerVM Look again at the first 5 seconds of the video!
Anything to annoy the heck out of hubby thank you so much 😄😄😄😄😄😄
@KIERANS1993 Yes... I lick the other side of the stamp.
I kinda want a Mazda 3 now.
Landon Cooper same although I think these trolls would be great for confusing friends
I'm kind of wishing I did make a purchase for one of these a couple years back when I saw it going for a steep discount.
I’m getting a 2007 first generation mazda 3 (red car) this Saturday and if anyone has any recommendations on a great body kit for it please let me know
I found so much money in the side is my e brake
Whenever I connect my Bluetooth it keeps making a loud buz sound when I play my music
It's better than having to put in the key every time you want to open or close the windows when the car is parked. At least on my VW, though, you can open or close the power windows just by holding the key in the driver's door lock. Most other brands won't do this.
