- www.gtacarkits... - installation instruction for iPhone, iPod, AUX, mp3 adapter into factory stereo of Mazda 3 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008 and 2009 model years. After installing the car kit you would be able to listen to your music player or iPhone with crystal clear sound through your factory stereo speakers and control your music through controls on the factory radio.
I have a 2005 Mazda 3 SP23. You only really need 2 skills to install this device
1. The ability to watch and listen carefully to youtube videos
2. Know how to use a screwdriver
It was ridiculous how easy it was to install the GTACarKit and it worked. I am so happy that I chose this product. Thank you guys so much for the awesome product, the cheap price tag that comes with the product and for the instructional video.
I will be recommending this product to anyone who has ears and a car.
Just bought this a week ago, received the unit promptly (within 4 business days), and installation was surprisingly straightforward. I'll put in a few tips that I came across as I was installing the kit.
Tip 1. When removing the long linear silver/gray trim above the glovebox, make sure to pop out the third clip at the complete left site of the display, than slide the whole piece to the right to get the hook clip out
I have zero experience with car wiring and this was a simple install. It took me a little over an hour and I was taking my time. I really think you could do it in 20 minutes if you needed to. The only tool I used was a screw driver. I decided to run my cables into the cup holder instead of the ash tray. I didn't want to take the ash tray out because I store spare change in there. I've waited to do this to my 04 because I was afraid of breaking something. Now I wish I had done it years ago.
this video was so well made and made it so easy for me to install my kit! thank you so much!!! i have a few comments:
1. i was able to remove the bar without a screwdriver. i couldn't find the hooks, and ended up just pulling it off successfully (but carefully!)
2. follow the top commenter's advice: removing the trim that way worked wonderfully!
3. if you unscrew the lightbulb from the ashtray, it creates a perfect little hole to put the cord through! no need to drill a hole :)
Took like 20 minutes to do, so easy and very satisfied with results. If you have a Mazda 3 with not AUX functionality, this is the solution :)
I had an old car kit (dealer installed) that worked well enough but did not replace the AUX jack I lost. I don't have an iPhone anymore, so I've had a useless plug for years. Your tutorial for accessing the back of the radio was easy to follow and now I have my AUX jack back. Thanks for the video!
This kit worked like a charm! I do like to take things apart but not in cars and this only took me an hour to do. Super easy install. The only issue I had was trying to figure out how to get the cd player back in with the wires and box out of the way and I used a little bit of Velcro then tucked them in the back to the left. I also put the wire thru the ash tray and didn't have to drill anything just pulled out the red plastic piece and fed the wire thru that. I have a 2005 mazda3 sp23 w/o aux.
Did this install 2 days ago....I was able to keep enough slack and mount the unit under the trim next to the gear shift. I then ran the ipod cable under the cup holder, through the factory aux port, and up through the center armrest. Great product.
Even if you do not have an AUX, or if you have AUX, the kit will STILL WORK!! Thank you.
I received mine yesterday, extremely easy to install, the sound quality is good using my iPhone's 30-pin connector, I highly recommend this product if you want to integrate your iPhone or iPod to your car's factory radio without investing on a new one.
Your steering wheel controls can be used for music skip, it is perfect!
Felix
I just installed mine in a 2004. 45min start to finish only because I spent 10min looking for an alan wrench to take my shift knob off. I'm sure I could do it in 20 now. Great product, works perfectly.
Easy installation, fast shipping and worked totally fine in my Mazda 3 2004
***** we are glad to hear!
this a great video.. although i only have one comment.. . I don't not recommend setting the box in the back behind the radio like the video suggested @8:54. I recommend instead hiding the box behind the cover capartment ("pocket" @ 7:40) and then run the wire the up the center to the radio connection. This gives you more slack on the cable so that you be able to talk on the phone while drving. Otherwise you be leaning way to forward. (trust me i just installed this last night on my Mazda 3).
This is a really good tutorial. I would have been all over this 10 years ago but not (I just bought a 2007 Mazda3) Il think ill just pull out my old CDs and leave Spotify for our main family car. The real solution is that every car stereo should have an aux in 3.5 mm socket. That is like a forever solution.
Thanks mate, installed in 15min with basic tools and everything works great
Hi, I also bought this kit and had the same question as you. not all Mazda3s have the aux in the glove compartment and no aux option at all, if yours doesn't have it there, then you don't have it and CarKit is perfect for you, I've had it for almost six months and it works awesome, I can also stream Pandora and files from my iPhone.
Cable management takes a while - it took over 30 min. Be sure that when you tuck the box at the back of the stock radio that you feed the cables through the grey part of the floor or else the radio will jut out.
If you don't care about your ashtray, you can remove it totally and just feed the cables through the top of the ashtray slot into the cupholder.
That white socket isn't the CD player. Mine still plays
Two screws hold on the cover to the gear shift area. This wasn't seen in the video.
This was very helpful. Made the removal of the dash and cupholders easy to do.
Awesome video Very helpfull got mine installed in last saturday, only took me about 30 minutes, becaues of the drilling I made to take the cables out from the ashtray compartment! works beautifully! the only issue is that there is some static you hear in the background like if the volume was cranked at full in a stereo where nothing is playing its like "white noise" but no too noticeable!
Installed in under an hour! Great installer video that helped guide me & my sister install this quickly and easily!!
@LazerBeem85 the arm rest is the middle console between the seats. If your car(like mine) didn't come with an auxiliary input standard you will have nothing to worry about.
this kit will work either way, even if you do not have a stock AUX.
Great post! I actually fed the wires into the coin box compartment. No need to drill holes.
@HANA503 Hi, That plug is for the stock AUX in the armrest, by disconnecting that, you will loose that function, but our module has its our AUX :). thank you
Just ordered this for my 2006 Mazda 3, Cant wait!
@TheCyol Even if you dont have a stock AUX, this kit will still fit and work.
@withallofmymight you can use both, the iphone will be unlocked, so you can change from there, and also using your steering wheel and radio controls.
the kit will not disable your FM tuner. If you have a stock AUX in the armrest, thats what will get disabled, is you have no AUX you will not have any wire plugged in to the back of the radio.
@LazerBeem85 This particular car had factory AUX (that comes out under the arm rest). Therefore we had to replace it with our kit that has both AUX and iPod compatibility. If you car does not have factory AUX, this port should be empty.
Some of there cars come with the AUX in the armrest. If you have that, that will be disabled. But this is ok, as our kit comes with the AUX. Thank you.
this worked. didn't have to take off the gear knob (you don't need to remove the gear panel entirely to get the ashtray out).
@gtacarkits Thanx a lot , I've just purchased yesterday online , can't wait to install it !!
It works great. I just got done with the install. This video helped out alot. Thanks
Thank you ! It was perfect explained ! Helped me do it in 5 Minutes ! Thank you :-D
Crazy your mazda 3 has heated seats not seen one with that. Nice great video thanks 👌🏾
Yes it is compatible with older devices.
Hi, yes you will be able to do that, the CD function with NOT be disabled :).
Thank you.
Install the same for AU model; just remember to reverse the trim removal (especially the clip on the left over the glove box)
oh yeah, getting this car soon. looking forward to following this video, thanks!
Yes you can still switch the music through the radio.
This helped me a lot! Thank you very much!!!
@Sibens1 yes, everything will work the same way after you install the kit
@LazerBeem85 If you take a look at the video at the 7:47 mark when he takes the ash tray out or change tray as I use it for you can see that it has a red window on the top which where the light comes into the ash tray. That red plastic piece will slide off leaving an opening to feed the wire thru. Any other question feel free to ask as I was new to this process too.
@huronmak Yes, it will be even easier to install as your AUX input would be empty.
hello ,i've mazda 3 2004 that has a "tape/MD" button rather than a "media" button a sound unit without cd player, when i press cd or TAPE/MD nothing happens , do you have any idea ? or i should change all the unit ?
thanks
Do you have our product installed? The button will only start working once you install our product on your radio. When there is nothing installed, that button will not work. Thank you.
@anubhavvi sorry this kit is meant to work on a Mazda only, no Ford.
Thank you
@MK519 shipping in Canada is 3 times more expensive than US, that is why. thank you.
For all of you installning, you don't have to ruin the original interior with drilling a hole for the cable. In the ash tray there is a small hole in the top that the cable can be drawn through (mps -07)
Thank you, your comment was VERY helpful.
Yes the kit will work with ipod classic.
Yes it will work in both countries!!
@gtacarkits an australian company is selling the same aux in adapter unit for both the 2007 mazda and the head unit in my car.So i guess what works for mazda should work for my system as well since they both have similar port and media button(mine has inbuilt 6 cd changer, dont know about mazda).I have attached the pics and the link is below.
@GTACarkits, do you offer a simple AUX out solution for 05 Mazda 3, with no iPhone integration? The ones I've seen on Amazon are for '06 and up only.
we are in the process of making it. But the adapter that is available from apple, will work with our kit.
the only way to use our kit with an android device, is through the AUX. But you will have to control everything, through the phone, not the radio.
Awesome tutorial - it worked fine for me. Thank you very much.
you have to make sure that your playlists are properly arranged.
Tip 2. To remove the cupholder and shifter trim, follow paulkingiraq's suggestion instead of using the hook tool
Tip 3. Instead of hiding the gta car kit behind the radio, I hid it behind the cigarrete trim/compartment, u can pretty much place it behind a little slot, and just duck tape it in place if you really want, this makes it easier to get to if you ever need to, as well as increases the length of wire so you can let your buddy play his music in the back seat if they want to
What i suppost to do when i have buttom tape/md? i will get a aux in my car
You connect it the back of the Radio. Yes it will still work.
I think it's for the optional CD changer. Mine did not have anything plugged in that particular socket
You can use iphone 5, with the original Apple adapter, everything will work the same way.
@MK519 yes it is. thank you.
@MellowMadnessRMX Yes the kit will work the same on both :)
ughhh i was just gonna get a dash kit and a kenwood stereo until i found out you lose all the lcd features. i guess ill get this even though its like $40 more
@richblaiklock yes the kit will work, please check out our website :)
oh, and this was in a 2006 mazda3, for reference! i am a happy camper.
@Badbadlara Hi, Yes it will. Thank you
Your company should make a part that replaces the cigarette tray with an iPod dock
@choco3311 the music has to play on both side, email us, and we can figure the issue out :) thank you
you will have yo use the apple lightning adapter with iphone 5.
yes it will be the same on aus model car.
Mine had nothing plugged in there - as he said in the video, it disabled the auxiliary port in the glove box (if you have one). CDs will still play fine.
Thank you men. Nice Video good work.
We are glad to hear :)
does it only work with iPhone? What about other smart phones?
Thank you very much, it is very helpful
@davidmora64 Yes it will work on your car :)
yes it will.
My 2009 mazda 3 has an aux port down in the center console, kind of a wierd place for it but it has an indention where you can close the center console all the way or even just the part where it leaves you a spot to set your phone so you dont have to set it on your lap or the other seat, just sucks that if you do that you can't really close the center console without squishing the aux cord
2008 speed3 isnt there a aux in the armrest?
@ITHEREONETHATHASNT yes there is
@ITHEREONETHATHASNT 100%. I have a '08 Mazda 3 sitting outside right now with an aux port in the center console. That's why I clicked on this video because it doesn't make sense to me
@gtacarkits thank you :D
yes you can, that's how I have it installed in my Mazda3
Will this work on a mazda 3 2004 maxx sport that has a "tape/MD" button rather than a "media" button? Im quite confused...
yes the kit will work the exact same way on your radio. Thank you.
GTA Car Kits: I press the tape/md button and nothing happens. The radio just sits there in FM.
Luis Ángel You should press cd button, i have the same
The ipod port should be changed to an usb port so i can control my galaxy s3 from the weel and if want to use a ipod theres conectors that convert to ipod format.
The CD will still work the same way!
the cable that you took off what is it hoocked up with like what it connected to?
Man, excellent tutorial, I´m from Mexico, how can I contact you for buy a car kit, do you have that distribution??
:)) we are glad to hear.
Thanks.. Super helpful
thats how the kit works, with the software of this radio.
Not sure if anyone still monitors these comments, but:
1) is it possible to connect both the AUX and the iPod/iPhone cable at the same time?
2) If so, assuming that operation of the AUX would happen through the same "press CD twice, select EX1, 2, etc" method, which device/connection would have precedence? and
3) Would it be possible to connect the AUX cable into a Bluetooth?
he already said in the comments it was the Stock Aux in the armrest if your car has one.
Really helpfun man! Thanx! :)
The video wasn't 100% clear on a certain point... in "Ex 1" or "Hybrid Mode", can you use the iPhone to make song selections and the steering wheel and dash controls simultaneously?
By putting this kit in can you not use the radio tuner? Where the cable he installed he had to remove another cable to do so.
Thanks for the info.
Glad to hear that the kit works great :) you can always submit your feedback to our email!

Very helpful! Buying a 2003 (dec) Mazda 3 next week. One question: The previous owner installed a Parrot bluetooth device. Does it interfere with the installation of the GTA car kit? In that case, do I have to remove it? Thanks
renevp2 it should not effect our kit.
I own a different kit and, indeed, still works.
in my 2009 theres a AUX input in the center console ;)
