Just a heads up for those that plan to use the linked headlights assembly: as the 1 star reviews on this particular product suggest, after less than a year my headlights began to discolor and crackle and by two years they looked awful and and severely reduced light from the bulbs. I put this exact pair on my accord and have to replace them again due to how quickly they deteriorated. I'm literally on this video to remind myself how to swap them because I will be taking out this pair and putting in a different brand that seems to be a better quality (albeit more expensive).
Finally! For once it's great to watch a well taken video, good footage covering all aspects of the job without going into sidelines off-topic raving that I've seen on so many other DIY vids. Dan just gets on with the job here, speeds it up where needed, doesn't drag it out and doesn't get all egotistical. He is easy to watch and listen to. Well done Dan !
Bought these same lights and the instructions were spot on. Dealership wanted 1200 yo buy and replace. Had it complete in 90 min. I would recommend a second set of hands just to hold the bumper away when refitting but that’s all.
Did your's fit flush, or was there a small gap at the top? Just managed to get one done for tonight and noticed that mine hat a small space at the top. Pls lmk thx
I appreciate you making this video. I bought my daughter new lights for her car assuming install would be straight forward. I had no idea the bumper cover had to come loose, nor was I aware of the bracket swap. Feeling much more confident moving forward now. Again, thank you.
Great video! Regarding the bracket tabs, I did come up with another approach that worked well. I cleaned both surfaces (metal bracket & plastic with tabs) with alcohol, then applied some construction adhesive to it, secured the fit together, and vice clamped it securely in place for 24 hours. The next day took off the vice and it held perfectly up through installation. Highly recommend if you don't mind waiting the extra day, saves a ton of hassle & fighting it later.
Thank you so much for making this such an easy project for anyone to complete. Your instructions were very easy to follow. Being a woman who has never done anything like this, I was able to complete in a reasonable amount of time. Again thank you so much for a great tutorial!
Followed your video step by step and was able to swap lights in about 3 hours. Someone who knows what they are doing will be much faster. Very well done video, thanks!! Side note: NO ONE in the Honda design team has ever changed the front blinker bulb in an Accord.🤬🤬 Of course, the bulb burned out immediately after the installation was complete.
Preciate ya Dan. Living in an apartment complex, I don't have access to jack stands or ramps. Glad to have found your video so I didn't have to remove the whole bumper.
I am a seasoned mechanic but I still watch videos before I do something so I have an idea what I am getting into. Each car is different. Some videos I turn off after a minute shaking my head. You did a great job on this video! China parts. You have to wonder if they ever actually try them on the vehicle. You always have to manipulate them to fit.
The 5th bolt in the video has another bolt to the side of it. Loosen the bolt (do to remove) and you’ll be able to get the 5th bolt back in easy without issues. Great video.
You mean to tell me I've been riding around with nasty, hazy headlamp assemblies because I didn't want to pay the big money to a body shop when I could have done it myself in about an hour? Thank you so much for this great video! Very well done!
Honestly, get a restore kit. I just bought an 05 accord and the bulbs were this nasty yellow. After an hour or so of sanding, my headlights look like new!
@@danster442yes they’ll look new for a few months before they become oxidized again. Some people are fine with repeatedly using the kits other people prefer the 1 and done method.
One suggestion, before bolting every thing back together, test the lights to make sure you have not accidently damaged a bulb somehow and need to replace it. Saves time from having to take it all apart again.
Was just wondering why you never tested the headlights prior to bolting it all up...Because had your bulbs not worked wouldn't you have to undo the whole thing allover again?...
Good point, I guess I should’ve tested them first. I think you can still access the bulbs if that’s all you were changing. Luckily everything worked great! Thanks for watching! -Dan the Fix it Man
@@DantheFixitManyou can replace the bulb from the engine compartment. Something you do need to watch out for is, touching the glass part of those bulbs with your hands. The oil from your hands can get onto the glass then once you turn your headlights on the heat will cause the bulb to break where you touched. Whenever changing headlights, never touch the actual bulb with bare skin. It's best to wear a clean pair of cloth gloves or at least make a conscious effort not to touch the glass. Thanks for the video though, did the company comment on the fit issues?
Remove plastic cover for grill (flat head + Phillips + maybe some needle nose pliers) Remove bumper (stubby) (pull middle part of grill with bumper) 10mm holding headlight, and 10mm holding metal bracket Transfer metal bracket to new headlight (10mm) Install bulbs Reverse the steps to install
Best way to tell if your lights are too high or too low is to park facing a flat wall, on a flat surface! (A fence, garage, side of building, ect) BUT YOUR CAR MUST BE FLAT AND LEVEL!! I usually go to a building parking lot at night to do this. You can RUclips search how to adjust them for the correct level and then with a long screwdriver you can adjust them up or down... it's best to do this with 2 people! One in the car, one adjusting under the hood!
@@dancearoundtheworld5360yea no. He’s referencing the aiming of the actual headlight bulbs themselves. Sometimes they become out of adjustment when you’re messing around with the headlights or just overtime with vibrations.
excellent video editing but those aftermarket headlights are bad. It's not just the bracket no lining up but the part is of poor quality. although it is almost half the price of oem honda headlights, they're not worth even that much. The clearcoat will crack in a year, the light direction adjustement screw are fake and do not work. There are plenty of reviews and pictures in the amazon page that shows it will not last more than one year or so. Not worth the cost and the effort to install them. Extremely poor quality part.

10mm holding headlight, and 10mm holding metal bracket
Transfer metal bracket to new headlight (10mm)

Wow, this was an amazing video. Super informative. The vice grips were a great idea.
Those pull anchors come out easy if you shoot spray silicone first.

Fantastic job, and the prices are reasonable.

Glad to hear!
What did you use or how did you clean the lenses? You mentioned at the beginning of the video that's what you have done before.
I had tried using wipe new by rustoleum. It worked well, just doesn’t last longer than a couple years.
I changed mine, but corner bulbs don't work. Any idea why?
Thanks this was very helpful

How is the headlight assembly holding up
Great video crazy you have to remove the bumpers to remove the headlight assembly on cars Mazda Honda and I'm sure others I'm getting old lol sorry
What do you mean by adjusting headlights? Sorry, I'm a woman and just trying to learn.
moves the headlight assembly slightly to match the fender, even gap around the whole light
