I really appreciate your time making this video buddy. Just replaced the quarter glass with no issues thanks to you. Wish I could buy you a beer, cheers!
dam. i watch yt on 2x speed, but even then you work as fast as a pakistani sweat shop. you clearly have done this a thousand times with a shop boss bustin ur balls to get cars out of stalls. i feel like your skill and dexterity with you hands is pretty rare now days on yt diy style viedeos. thankyou for your time bud.
Thank you! I was not about to pay $400 to have someone fix this for me.
Honestly bro I really gotta thank you for this video, I did my rear quarter glass on my 98 Honda CRV in about 1 Hour, could have been faster but there was alot of old PU to scrape off. THanks man!
Did you need to use both the primer and the urethane?
Thanks for the video! Am just about to set the rear quarter glass in my SUV, and this has all the details I was looking for.
Good luck!
That was awesome. Really appreciate your advice on how to cut the adhesive tip. That urethane can get quite messy. And thanks for the 3m primer tip. You are one of the few videos that recommend that and it is totally worth spending another $20 for a can.
Thank you for the video. My Scion IQ thanks you. Glass installers said they could not source the left quarter glass. I got one thru Ebay then no one would install it for me. Came out looking like nothing happened, all for $60 including glue and primer.
2012 Fit quarter glass job for me. Thanks so much for such a comprehensive video and in english to boot ! perfect!!!
Great video, and was just wondering if you can shape urethane with your finger,
like you do with silicone ? Maybe you could answer me. Be appreciated.
Best video on this clear and to the point thanks
Best window video on RUclips. Thanks the advice on the primer. How many tubes of adhesive for average size back window
The best video I have found thus far. You answered all the questions I had. Thanks!
thanks for posting this, i had questions about the cannister for the 3m window weld. It looked like a grease gun type cartridge and wasnt sure if I needed a specific gun to apply the urethane..
Seen other videos noticed 3holes only one yellow connector do you need all 3 clip type connectors to click into the car body\frame?
Excellent video describing how to actually use this stuff instead of just talkin about randomness. Like the tip V cut idea, "smooth"
This is how to apply this product correctly. Two thumbs up! 👍👍
To be completely honest you can do a round bead jist cater in tje thickness of your moulding how high tje bead will sit, if it's high enough keep it at that you won't get leaks with round beads v beads you can knock the top off and it can also leak so don't be to particular with this round or v is fine
Great video. I wonder if the 1 oz size is enough primer for a window this size? It's surprisingly expensive for the 4 oz size.
Little advice, do not leave the seams open like he did. You will get a leak down the road. Pad them together. Better to run the end of your seem to the inside instead of the outside like he did. Will prevent leakage
u shouldve said wat kind of a caulking gun u wer using. i have the sikaflex p2g n using a cheap caulking gun. that shit was barely comin out with squeezing the life out of it. i jus threw it in the trash
Great video! Thank you for the help. This helped me greatly while replacing the quarter window on my 1990 Subaru Legacy
Any tips on removing a window that is urethaned in? I'm removing a window from a scrapy yard tomorrow and don't want to shatter it lol. Thanks for the video!
I have a broken quarter glass with chrome trim. Do you just pry off old window and attach according to the video... or do you have to remove the window frame by the clips? If you have to remove the window frame, does that entail removing interior panels etc.? Thanks
How warm dose it need to be for everything to set right just asking cuz its winter now were I'm at and I got to do a back glass so just want to know the lowest temp it can be to set right
Thanks for this! Can I ask you a question? Would this process change if the glass is fit with a molding piece on one side? My window was broken and it mostly fell out, but edges/urethane and the molding piece remain. I don't feel like buying a new one. Can I just clean clean the glass piece off of it and prime/urethane like you did? Thanks in advance for any response given.
Thanks Dude! We owe you a beer!
Thanks for video going to replace glass this week and this was very helpful.
great video thank so much can i store the remaining urethane for few months?
Yes you can, but it will eventually become hard and unusable.
@@DIYHonda Thank su much subscribed
If I don’t have a dauber do you think I could use a microfiber cloth? They live 50 miles from the nearest hardware store on a ranch. I have everything except a wool Dobber.
What type of caulk gun are you using for that tube? The 3M $90 one? Thanks for the video
So you use the same razor blade technique to remove the glass? I have a shatter rear panel and after removing the broken glass, I still have an inch all the way around of glass still attached.
Do you need to use primer on fresh paintwork?
Thanks man really helped! Cant believe how much people pay safelite for this lol
Shawn Duane hell yeah they charge like $500 just for the quarter panel
I checked with them before I found this they want 247 for mine
I got a new/used window from a salvage yard and it appears to still have all the old urethane attached to it (I can tell what color the donor vehicle was), should I remove all this old urethane or does some of it need to stay on?
Good video, thanks. Do you have a video that shows how you removed the old quarter glass?
Did you ever find out how???
@@Soccertz1 yes, there are basically two types of processes for removing the quarter glass, cut out if it was glued on or screw out if bolts were used to attach it. I have a 2007 Audi A4 and mine was glued in so I cut it out, removed as much of that old rubber as possible. Then I cleaned the surface using rubbing alcohol. I gave it a minute or so to dry then applied Flex Glue in a thick continuous bead then I pressed in the new quarter glass with continuous pressure for about a minute, use some white painter's tape to hold it in place for about two days so good weather is a must if you want to do this right. I hope this helps you. I did it myself because glass repair companies were charging almost the same price for repairing quarter glass as they were for the windshield and I couldn't get behind that. Good luck, you can do it.
bro i watched this entire thing, i am so conident i can do it lol im not even gunna ask my boyfriend for help just becasue i wanna do it 😂😂😂 but i will buy everything off of amazon bc this was a great video!
Glass place wants a thousand dollars for the rear window in my truck, they ain't getting a dime now!
Did you remove the interior panel and is it nessesary?
Is there a certain type of tape you wanna use?
Thank you😊
Your welcome! :)
Quick and simple! Thank you!
Little advice. Dont prime the urethane. The primer is for scratches on the body and areas where the urethane no longer is bonded to the body. Urethane sticks best to itself
so the primer is only good for the scratches and not between the urethane? I'm a newb to glass installation but i thought the "primer" for adhesives usually helps the bond.
@@JP-ub3iv no it's good for in between the urethane you just want to leave as much of the urethane exposed as possible to get the best adhesion possible. What I've always been told is urethane sticks best to urethane
Giovanni Burns some instructions I’ve read say to put urethane on the inside window AND the frame of the car. Do I need to do both or just on the car? Thanks!
There are several issues with his process. 1.) Read the urethane system instructions. Urethane usually adheres best to fresh untrimmed urethane unless it requires activation. 2.) join the seams together on the bead. Pay attention to the working time of the urethane, applying it before prepping the glass could create a problem if the glass is not installed in time. 3). Very few professionals use 3m urethane for various reasons so avoid it if possible. 4). There are a few things that you should truly leave to professionals. Bonded glass installation is one of them.
Could this be the reason why my trunk gets wet whenever it rains? Do u know if there are any holes behind that rear window that would lead to the trunk that would allow water in if the seal for the window has worn out?
Water leak is a common Honda problem. I am also searching for why the trunk is wet every time it rains.
Thank You !! Great Video This Helped a lot.
Where can i find this glass, i need it for my 2015 accord coupe the rubber moldings are all cut up and damaged
What kind of tape works best?
Do you HAVE to leave some of the old urethane on??
Leaving none is best. But that takes some time to get it all off.
did u need to heat the glue up?
Primer should only go on bare metal, not the urethane
What about bare glass (i.e. new pane of glass)?
According to the 3M primer instructions, in big bold capital letters, “ Do not apply 3M single step primer to fresh cut existing glass urethane!”. And it says you put it on the metal and the glass.
@@Drifter-u2p Thank you !!
excellent video. many thanks
excellent vid! have a hyundai accent but whats the diff? thks again.
I have a hyundai azera lol the silver lining came off so I want to replace but it was $225 for the window itself new.. didn't even bother asking labor costs..
After you apply the primer how long should you let the primer dry before doing the rest of the install?
The primer should dry fairly quickly within a minute my tip, trim back urithane prime up body clean trim and prime glass uri up on body and slap glass in all done should be 10 minutes tops
Thank you for this !
Cool
Does it have to be a certain temperature?
So I’ve been trying to find the 3M one step Primer and it seems next to impossible here in Hawaii, what’s an alternative primer that works just as well?
As long as you have both the surfaces clean of old eurathane and nice and clean, you don't really need to worry about the primer. Never caused me problems
could I use this same process on a ford focus 2014 quarter window?
You could use the same process on any piece of stationary glass on a vehicle
How do l remove the primer from my vehicle paint? The installers were sloppy with it, and my car is blue so it's visible
Thanks for sharing. I can do this man.
Does it have to be window primer? Can it be any adhesion promoter?
Buy the two products at once. You cannot use any adhesion promoter. Should be specific for polyurethane from what I know.
What gun is that
Never used primer in my life
Where can I get the gun it’s self
Thank you so very much
This i can do
so the primly is only needed for use parts with old tracer of uthane
No, used when installing new windows too
Super Usefull!!!
does this method apply to windshield and the back window?
Yes
hi does this work on a four door quarter panel?
Thank you
Thank you bro good job /about 7 years ago i did my Acura intera
Where can I get the gun now my caulking gun does not fit
Is that a honda accord
Yep
Isn't there supposed to be some clips that seem to be missing?
They are mostly used as a guide to keep it flushed
Great 👍 video I paid someone to do it
👍
The "primer" in this primer is not what you think and speak of in the video. It is a chemical primer, to prime or prep the bond of the 2nd stage, which is the bonding glue. It chemically reacts with the glue to form a stronger bond. Nothing at all to do with primer in the paint sense.
According to the instructions on the 3M primer, It says in very bold capital letters “ DO NOT APPLY 3M SINGLE STEP PRIMER TO FRESH CUT EXISTING GLASS URETHANE! “. Now I don’t know what to think.🧐
Fullmoves in Spanish
thanks for the info. you should take care of you fore arms, that skin has to last you a life time.
what happend to ur arm
You looking at the video or at his arm lol
@omidmark07 Obviously the video and that's how he saw his arm 😂
That’s not the tape you use for that jajaja
Can this urethane be used to adhere a rear quarter frame?...I want to do this with a Silverado.
