  • The question is to buy or build, I chose build. Building an overland pop-up truck camper or a pickup pop up as I like to call it. The plan is to have it act like a wedge camper as well as a full pop up. Not doing the vanlife or trucklife so the camper needs to be able to come on and off. It also needs come apart to store in a small space.
    More info will be here:
    boulderunderground.com/camp/c...
    List of all dimensions and materials coming later with the same link
    If you need a link to anything about the build, just leave a comment and I will get it added.

    This is really awesome man. Just don't ever let material dimention dictate the build, it will drive you crazy in the long run. Can't waitto see it done... sub'd

    Love your build. I'm in the middle of building my own popup topper. Designing as I go, just like you. Good luck and thanks for sharing.

    He’s my thoughts if you ever lived out of a truck topper . Windows on the driver side is pretty much useless. More likely they will get covered by some cabinets. Passenger side for visibility yes. Cooking inside a truck bed??? Guess it depends on what you’re cooking but I’d cook out side under an awning or screen enclosure. I would attach the topper somehow to the bed rails. I just wouldn’t trust turnbuckles and cables to floor of bed. Roof fan, maxfan that can be open when raining.

    Nice, love all the windows! And the use of the 8020. I built a camper out of 8020, Went with the full pop up but you are giving me tons of great ideas!

      I have had a lot of folks come up to me asking about the camper. Most say they have seen similar campers but were wondering about the windows. I would love to see what you did for your pop up. I am still trying to figure out a few things for mine.

    A liner had a truck camper version many years ago. It might give you some ideas for your design!

    Cool build, quick question: if you wanted the side walls to slant in (matching the slope of the truck) what problems would that cause? How would you attach the 8020 vertical rails to the horizontal rails if they weren't 90 degrees? I'm wanting to do a modular shell/ camper for my f150 with 6.5' bed, but I think matching the truck slant would be nice

      I was originally planning to do angled sides to match the profile of the truck. I had a few ideas. I’ll put them in the next video. I have been waiting for things to warm up a bit before working on everything again. I’ll start working on it again soon.

    Great build. Probably already answered this, total cost excluding the prototype materials?

    • @CampProjectCom
      @CampProjectCom  2 года назад +1

      No cost and/or weight totals yet. Planning to calculate everything later in the build and will post everything. What I really should have done was show the current weight and cost as the build progresses.

    What sized extrusion did you use? Those look like the 10 series but I can't tell.

    • @CampProjectCom
      @CampProjectCom  2 года назад

      All 10 series - 1x2 and 1x1. I am debating if I should have used something a little larger but so far I think it will work.

    Nice Work👍, I’m looking for a camper for my’20 Tacoma access cab, so far AT Overland “atlas” is my choice, wish I had enough garage space to build my own… Do You still have use of the antenna with the camper overhang?

      @@eatcommies1375 the first time I called for a quote it was 29 weeks, and I hesitated because of that, then when I decided to pull the trigger, the lead time was 33 weeks. The quality is remarkable, but the lead time is brutal.
