The new album is fantastic and worthy of funding. Too many people are stuck in nostalgia, stuck with other people's opinion, and refuse to embrace a new decade Got my Portland, OR Metallica tickets and this will be my sixth show. First in '86 when they opened for Ozzy...with Cliff ripping it on the bass... Anyone else gonna be there?
Either Spit Out the Bone or Murder One.. Murder One is their tribute to the late, great Lemmy; the lead singer of Motörhead. The whole entire Hardwired to Self-Destruct album is pretty good. I think it's just your perception of the "Lulu" album that you don't think they're heavy anymore.
Atlas sided with the Titans during the war and when they lost.. Zeus condemned him to hold up Uranus, which is the personification of the heavens.. not the Earth.. And people used to believe that if Atlas wasn't there, the skies would fall to the Earth...Atlas is the god of endurance, astronomy and harvest... Ancient greeks belived that Atlas is responsible for turning the world on its axis..causing the seasonal changes...
Also (actually...) the reason Atlas holds a globe on most of his sculptures is because it's not a globe, but a celestial sphere (or a star globe) - a model of the skies, which from ancient times was used by astronomers to map the stars and constelations (in mirror image). So, yeah, in Atlas's case the globe represents the sky.
Wow! That song is legit!!! One of the best thing about these reaction videos is that some of us also get to discover songs we've never heard before. Great reaction guys great video! That little melody Vin liked is simply called the chorus riff, if i'm not wrong. By the way i'm wating for the "Actually" and the "Fo Sho" tshirts lol \m/ Keep it up!
It's not the first time Hetfield is writing about people with a martyr complex. My Friend of Misery, from the same album as the first Unforgiven, also has the same topic, but as it was the case with Unforgiven, it has a much more purely accusatory, contemptuous tone to it compared to his later songs with the same theme. Just like how, through self reflection, he comes to finally realize _he's_ the one responsible for his actions and what happens in his life in Unforgiven III, I believe he's commenting on himself here just as much as he's talking about other people. In many of his interviews he talks about how big his ego had become during the Black Album years, and how hard he found it to reach an inner balance when millions of people praised him daily, worshiping him as a "god", all the while having so much unresolved anger and pain inside him (due to his effed up childhood, his loss of Cliff Burton etc...). He talks about how all this led him to have this constant feeling of resentment and bravado at the same time, making him someone whose only way of showing love was to try and control his loved ones, squeezing them harder and harder until they couldn't breathe anymore (sings about it in All Within My Hands: "all within my hands/under thumb, under to myself/love is control/i'll die if i let go")----which actually led to an implosion of the band in early 2000s when their bassist quit, Hetfield went into rehab for about a year, and it wasn't clear for a long while if they would survive as a unit (all of which is documented in their fascinating Some Kind of Monster documentary). Anyways. Good song. The intro takes a bit too long to get to the point, and the solo is just OK, but everything else is great. 8/10
Have a lot of Metallica fav songs. This is one of them. Epic song, harmonizing , melody etc. spine chilling . People who think they have descended are not true fans. They are versed in all types of music soft hard etc- which they rock at. Metallica had to change its style all bands do. That’s why they are the greatest ever and Lasted as long as they did. They just did metal they wouldn’t have lasted as long as they have.
Vin : "That's what happens when there's good metal!" Sori:"Sure alright Mhmm this again🙄😏 whatever you say buddy " .Keep up the entertaining videos guys love the the chemistry. you'll love halo on fire or spit out the bone from the same record 🤘🏾
Exactly then Hardwired, Moth into Flame from this album or My Apocalypse, Judas Kiss or All Nightmare Long from Death Magnetic. Clearly you are not updated.
How about Dream no more? is it heavy enough? u guys have no idea how heavy Metallica really is with this new album.. either you or those two - Sori and Vin
In the toughest times in life, retreating to Nature has always helped me the most. In a far off meadow, or a trickling stream in a mountain glen. The best times in my life all had the backdrop of a masterful natural beauty!
The headbanging at the beginning made me smile. I love this song. This whole album is pretty good, You two will flip out when you hear Spit Out The Bone. I was going to be the 421st like but why ruin a good thing?
The latest album is much more diverse in terms of the whole set up.. it starts of pure thrash with Hardwired and then turns to more dark and heavy and then ends in the most amazing closing song an album that was released after 8 years should have.
Hey guys! I just wanted to say that I really really dig your discussions on lyrics...especially with this one. This is a very special song to me. As a person in the addiction recovery community (as well as James Hetfield), this song strongly evokes the feelings behind Step 3 (of the 12 steps) which is “Made a decision to turn our will and our lives over to the care of God, as we understand him”. Alcoholic people tend to want to take all of life on their shoulders and control and smother...it fails us. Our will is insufficient...We try to play God. Gods will is the only way out of our situation. Thanks again guys!
Y'all should react to the first song off of this album "Hardwired.....to self destruct". It is the song that Kicked this album in the ass and brought Metallica back to their roots.
You have become my favorite channel, y'all are awesome! Ever think of doing like a whole month dedicated to just underground stuff? Also, check out the faceless "autotheist movement"
Nice 👊 I think y'all would like Halo On Fire, too! It's from the same album as Atlas. James' vocals on this album are really strong. Kirk's solo in Halo is an upgrade, for sure.
This album have some good songs, like Now that we're dead, Halo on fire, Here comes revenge, Am I savage, Manunkind, Moth into flame and Spit out the bone
I wonder how much pre love we have for metallica, as I feel like what ever they do sound good. Even when they did less heavy stuff they still sound crisper then other bands. Like my love for Gojira, and metallica feels like they both just make stuff better then the rest, cleaner, better mix. I don't know what it is, they just have IT. I will keep this up btw . Please react to "Septic Flesh - Portrait of a headless man". As your guys specialist is the lyrics breakdown. Can I still suggest songs that are very good but with no "lyrical meaning" at all. And just have you listen to it (no need to even react to it). Also may I suggest a show where Vin show his favorite music to Sori, or music you love, or music you want to refer to, etc you understand. 1 show every 2 weeks or every week. Thanks for the great content.
Almost every song you guys review/react to I've heard it 1000 times before, but after you guys review it and share your perspective I end up listen to it like a totally NEW song; thanks for that! Stick to your guns - ''Married to the noise''
Well, I don't believe in anything religious or spiritual, so I don't have that faith to power through life. However I have family. I also have music (played guitar for 21 years) and science, among other things. It can definitely be hard sometimes due to my Autism. The high functioning form I have, makes it much more difficult to get out of depression, for instance. Sadly I'm single and the love of my life has someone else and doesn't want me, so that brings me down to the abyss. But I have to keep breathing, even though I feel it's no use some days. But going back to topic. I think we all have different ways to battle these things and since we are a very social species, other people tend to be a very good way to help us out if we feel lonely or so. Great reaction. Love this song.
I love to listen to your discussion about the lirycs.... That's why you are the best, this is full reaction, not only hearing the song. My best part od atlas starts at 6:45, the harmony after solo. Good lirycs on this album to talk about - Moth into flame. And about the lirycs and Metallica.... Orion, To live is to die or The call od khtulu next? :)
Good one. This song, as I understand it, is in general about people who carry a lot of burden and get overwhelmed (like the mythical Atlas) and to encourage them to overcome the weight and difficulties of life. I have a criticism of your view of Hetfield's lyrics. I think Hetfield is fairly a good lyricist, and this song indeed has good lyrics. But I don't think this song is lyrically beyond all other Metallica's songs. Hetfield wrote really good lyrics with important messages even in their first decade of work. RTL, MoP, AJFA, Black, and so on all have several great lyrics. Check out another heavy thrash song from this album "Spit Out the Bone".
I don't think Black as a whole was bland (not their greatest), but I understand we have our subjectivity. Load and Reload do have some good lyrics especially when they deal with personal struggles and emotions. Even Hardwired, in my opinion, has a few good songs. Also Metallica usually leaves some room for listener's interpretation. And being a drug or alcohol addict, or any harmful habit wouldn't take away from the worth. Btw, I actually think No Remorse is one of the best songs on "Kill'em All" and way different from "Atlas, Rise".
This song is the best one on this album IMO. It's a grower, the more you listen to it the better it gets. When I first heard it I was like oh it's decent but after repeat listens you pick up on things you might have missed the first go around.
Metal Militia load and reload is groovy as fuck. Yes it's not as good as the first four albums but I like that they took a different direction. I love how all the Metallica haters talk about them selling out with load and reload, which is hilarious because if they wanted to sell out they'd have made black album 2.
hetfields lyrics on load destroy anything on the first album. outlaw torn is fucking epic. same with bleeding me...house that jack built, hero of the day, until it sleeps.
All the fans that want Metallica to be something there not! That albums not heavy enough that album isn’t as heavy as it should be!! Metallica writes what they feel!! Let the fans carry the weight why should they!? Atlas Rise🤘🏻🤘🏻 Hope recovery is swift for you papa Het!!
Keep up the awesome reactions going :) love the deep reactions to songs I never looked that deep into its lots of fun. And a special request for a special song for me that never really get "reacted" to ( or this band altogether for that matter.. unfairly enough ! ) Symphony X - Candlelight Fantasia .. puts me in the zone.. Another more "straightforward" metal one from them : Set the world on fire ( the lie of lies )
Symphony X. Now that is a legendary band. My favorite songs from them are "Awakenings", "Evolution (The Grand Design)" and "The Accolade", to name but a few of the many masterful craftworks of this band. If you enjoy Symphony X, you should also check out the song they did with Ayreon called "The Dawn of a Million Souls". ( A good place to start with the Ayreon universe is matter of fact, the Universal Migrator double-album! )
First, you'll recognize the harmonized riffs in the choruses, as they'd almost expactly from a song you JUST listened to, Hallowed Be They Name from Iron Maiden. Second, my interpretation of the lyrics is is coming from someone who's shouldered GREAT responsibility and pain and suffering as a way for others to experience life, but meanwhile being stuck being others' emotional and mental rock for ages. That the person singing is someone who' one the same thing and come to help take the baggage "Atlas" has been carrying, allowing them to now experience life and happiness, but epxecting them to rise to the occasion and return the favor for other "Atlas'"
This song renewed my faith in Metallica, only thing I request is someone to react to “memory remains “ from Metallica’s 30th anniversary show. Asked numerous reaction channels hectic, lost in Vegas, hip hop reacts, Nate Allen etc. I just would like for everyone to experience the love shown from this.
I loved this discussion. Disagree about James not being a good lyricist. I believe he is one of the best. Loved your statement about Jesus not being able to carry his own cross so how do we think we can. Never heard it put that way before. Thank you for that. God bless.
Thanks guys. I've watched few of you videos and I bloody like it. You guys really have open mind and you do not get pissed off for some lyrical context. Maybe react to the song from band called Fit for an autopsy called Black Mammoth
Love this song..the reaction and channel..esoecially the discussions.yall don't just hear the song and done...Metallica-Halo on Fire,..Now that We're Dead..and Spit out the Bone....And again Iron Maiden-Rime of the Ancient Mariner..wow what a story..keep up the good work and thanks for the entertainment
VinAnd Sori Thank you Sori..its the best song on the new album..its old school heavy thrash yet it has elements from about all their albums..3 or 4 songs could be made from the riffs..if they just "hung " on 1 riff.but they tossed them all into one song
Guess I have to join the club and put in a plug for Metallica "Spit out the Bone" reaction! \m/ ...although I still want to see you guys do Metallica Welcome Home (Sanitarium) (Live Seattle 1989)! ...if you guys do Master of Puppets, the Live Seattle 1989 version with the intro is so good!
Yeah!! :) You see... The new album is so good. Spit out the bone is the best track on the album, it will take you back to the old days for sure. Good to hear that you finally like some new Metallica stuff Vin... :) Sori... Welcome to the Metallica family... Yeaaaahhh!!! :)
Some kickass metal songs with religious themes Kamelot - Memento Mori (power metal, clean vocals) Kreator - Enemy of God, Your Heaven My Hell(thrash metal, harsh but not cookie monster vocals) Nevermore - This Godless Endeavor, Born (thrash/prog, clean vocals) Iced Earth - A Question of Heaven (power metal, clean vocals) Wood of Ypres - Travelling Alone(doom metal, clean metals)
Atlas, Rise is one of my top three faves on the album, the other two being "Halo On Fire" and "Spit Out the Bone". In the later years, Kirk's solos haven't seemed to hit the mark as much as they did in the early days. Some believe that he's having a tough time with arthritis in his hands, and the fluidity of play just isn't the same. On the other hand, it may be that he's somewhat outside the songwriting process any more, and he just doesn't have the same feel or connection with the songs when he's constructing the solos. In terms of the part you said you liked, in terms of proximate playing to the solo - that was probably James doing a melodic line, a thing he's always had great flair for. Lyrically, James in on point here. To me, he's always been a lyricist who is willing to go into deep topic with whatever wisdom he has at that moment. He tends to be plainspoken, rather than overly poetic, but that's allowed a lot of different people to get into the music, rather than being confused by literary allusions or complex metaphor. It weaves right into the reason they've been so phenomenally successful. 1/2
Please react to Children of Bodom - 'Bed of Razors', and also 'Triple Corpse Hammerblow'. Here are some other bands worth listening to: Power Trip - 'Executioner's Tax' Essence - 'Arachnida' Trivium - 'A Gunshot to the head of trepidation' Tomoyasu Hotei - 'Still Alive'. Marty Friedman - 'Undertow' Tak Matsumoto - 'Hana' Otis Taylor - 'Nasty Letter' Volbeat - 'Dead But Rising' Tash Sultana - 'Jungle' Arch Enemy - 'Nemesis' They aren't all metal, but they are all awesome. All guitar orientated, but mostly heavy songs, bar the odd one.
I grew up with Metallica and I worshipped them. I stopped liking them after the Black album. But to be honest, Death Magnetic and this new albums have brought me back. Hail the mighty HETFIELD!!
Dude, your missing out on a lot of good material on Load and Reload. If they would've just made one album with the best songs from each, it would've been a classic and better than the black album because they have some all time great songs on each album like Bleeding Me, The Outlaw Torn, Low Man's Lyric, Where The Wild Things Are, Fuel, etc. St. Anger is a shit album, but don't overlook the Load and Reload era.
You are my fav 'reactors'. You love rock and metal and that is easily feelable. Keep on giving us reactions and i bet you can convince at least 3% more people to listen to good music. Super positive. Great stuff Keep rockinnnnn \m/
Since your doing the "Trujillo" era Metallica (referring to their current bassist, legendary Robert Trujillo), I highly recommend late 80's early 90's Suicidal Tendencies, a good jam is Go 'n' Breakdown, Trujillo was a major force in that band. The guitarist in that era, Rocky George, is one of my personal favorite ax players, Vin I think you will dig Rocky George. Another "Trujillo hit" is the band is Infectious Grooves
If you want to do more newer Metallica, I would highly recommend Spit Out the Bone or All Nightmare Long. They're both great, heavy, thrashy songs that are reminiscent of Metallica's older pre-black album music. I'm also going to keep reminding you guys about Protest the Hero - C'est La Vie!
The new album is fantastic and worthy of funding.
Too many people are stuck in nostalgia, stuck with other people's opinion, and refuse to embrace a new decade
Got my Portland, OR Metallica tickets and this will be my sixth show. First in '86 when they opened for Ozzy...with Cliff ripping it on the bass... Anyone else gonna be there?
“Moth into Flame”, “Spit Out The Bones” and “Halo on Fire” are my favorites from their new album. Metallica really came back with a great record.
The looks on your faces when the riffs opened up was priceless, well done!
I dare you react to Spit out the Bone and say they are not heavy anymore
They're not heavy. Well i guess it depends on what your definition of heavy is. To me they were never heavy
They are more thrash to be honest
Either Spit Out the Bone or Murder One.. Murder One is their tribute to the late, great Lemmy; the lead singer of Motörhead.
The whole entire Hardwired to Self-Destruct album is pretty good.
I think it's just your perception of the "Lulu" album that you don't think they're heavy anymore.
@@DefMettle you mean they don't turne up the bass and drown out the other instruments? Ok I guess they're not heavy
Awesome! Thank you !

Such an underrated song and its my favorite one
It's not the first time Hetfield is writing about people with a martyr complex. My Friend of Misery, from the same album as the first Unforgiven, also has the same topic, but as it was the case with Unforgiven, it has a much more purely accusatory, contemptuous tone to it compared to his later songs with the same theme. They outdid themselves on this album! Love it! Thanks guys keep it coming!
when you said they haven't been as heavy, I smiled knowing what was in store. liked your face expression when you realized it was heavy
Metallica is not heavy anymore? Listen to spit out the bone ;)
Exactly then Hardwired, Moth into Flame from this album or My Apocalypse, Judas Kiss or All Nightmare Long from Death Magnetic. Clearly you are not updated.
This is also heavy, not as "thrashy" fast but still heavy.
How about Dream no more? is it heavy enough? u guys have no idea how heavy Metallica really is with this new album.. either you or those two - Sori and Vin
Yeah, people act like this record doesn't exist. For me, DM is amazing. You could tell that some songs are too long, but I don't mind it.
/mu/ck you have no argument.. just a hater
Atlas rise is heavy... "Do you want it heavy? 'Tallica gives you heavy baby" says James in shows.
It's not that Metallica isn't heavy anymore, they're still as heavy as hell, but Metallica progressed, and left everyone else in the dust!
13K Subs. When I discovered you guys like 2 weeks ago you had 4k. Nice.
Thank you !
I laughed when you said "Not heavy anymore".
Death-Flesh and the Power it Holds!
Yes , i think Chuck deserve attention here lml
They might not like the vocals, Symbolic album is full of great lyricsm
i guest if they can listen to danny filth , they can listen to any vocal hahahaha
everyone have there taste in music , and you what bands do like ???
ho ok you are more a old school type
good
should they listen to Hypocrisy , i think it would be cool ...
I like this song because it’s a tribute to the new wave of British heavy metal.
It’s 100% stuff like Iron Maiden coming through the Lars/James filter.
react to Spit out the bone, it's the best song of metallica's last album!! It's heavy as hell
Heavy, thrashy, catchy!!! And so nice to headbang for long seven minutes, too!!!!
Spit out the bone and halo on fire! Please react to both.
Both are catchy, but SPIT OUT THE BONE is more thrashy and HALO ON FIRE is more melodic, harmonic (just like "One" or "The Day That Never Comes").
The Hardwired album is amazing! Back to their roots!🤘🎼🎶🔥

This song is super fun to play on guitar. One of my favorite songs to play off the new album.
I think Spit out the bone was the best song in their new album.
Halo on Fire is amazing as well
Halo on fire is my favorite

I love how all the Metallica haters talk about them selling out with load and reload, which is hilarious because if they wanted to sell out they'd have made black album 2.
hetfields lyrics on load destroy anything on the first album. outlaw torn is fucking epic. same with bleeding me...house that jack built, hero of the day, until it sleeps.
All the fans that want Metallica to be something there not! That albums not heavy enough that album isn’t as heavy as it should be!! Metallica writes what they feel!! Let the fans carry the weight why should they!? Atlas Rise🤘🏻🤘🏻
Hope recovery is swift for you papa Het!!
Such a great song and even better live!! You ever get the chance to see Metallica live I definitely recommend it lol!
Great Lyrics, Great comments
2:24-2:43 I was like "HOLY FUCK YEAH, THEY ARE BACK WITH ANOTHER HEAVY METAL CLASSIC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
A Farewell to Arms, Descend the Shades of Night and Imperium - Machine Head
I love how the reaction right at the beginning! lol
great song..you guys are great and Sori looked as beautiful as ever
My fav song from their latest album . Harmonizing and solo is epic.
I love the ball...
I loved this discussion. Disagree about James not being a good lyricist. I believe he is one of the best. Loved your statement about Jesus not being able to carry his own cross so how do we think we can. Never heard it put that way before. Thank you for that. God bless.
Crazy thought huh ?
Thanks guys. I've watched few of you videos and I bloody like it. You guys really have open mind and you do not get pissed off for some lyrical context. Maybe react to the song from band called Fit for an autopsy called Black Mammoth
2:30-2:34 Welcome back, heaviness!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hell yes!!!! Awesome you 2 💯👍 favorite song of the newer ones

So glad ur enjoying it!! Spit out the bone is wildly requested...def listed! -Sori
VinAnd Sori Thank you Sori..its the best song on the new album..its old school heavy thrash yet it has elements from about all their albums..3 or 4 songs could be made from the riffs..if they just "hung " on 1 riff.but they tossed them all into one song
this is a great tune!!! riff is epic!!! ANOTHER CLASSIC FROM KING JAMES!
i like the deep philosophical conversations yall have when ur analyzing the lyrics subscriiiiiiiiiiibed
DYERS EVE!!!!! what are u waiting for?? sori will lose her mind!!!

You're saying so much truth. It really speaks to me.

I love that y'all love the song
Listen to Spit Out The Bone - Metallica! It is from the same album and it is very good too!
You need to hear spit out the bone
Yeah!! :)
You see... The new album is so good. Spit out the bone is the best track on the album, it will take you back to the old days for sure. Good to hear that you finally like some new Metallica stuff Vin... :) Sori... Welcome to the Metallica family... Yeaaaahhh!!! :)
SPIT OUT THE BONE !

6:47 Soooo goood! I really like your reaction videos, gonna subscribe. Have a nice day ;)
this song speaks volumes.
The Day That Never Comes by Metallica is a good one.
I like other bands..but I only watch your metallica reactions..it feels like you guys are the metrics soul
Metallica - Spit out the bone!!! Best Metallica song in a long time lml
Please react to Children of Bodom - 'Bed of Razors', and also 'Triple Corpse Hammerblow'.
Here are some other bands worth listening to:
Power Trip - 'Executioner's Tax'
Essence - 'Arachnida'
Trivium - 'A Gunshot to the head of trepidation'
Tomoyasu Hotei - 'Still Alive'.
Marty Friedman - 'Undertow'
Tak Matsumoto - 'Hana'
Otis Taylor - 'Nasty Letter'
Volbeat - 'Dead But Rising'
Tash Sultana - 'Jungle'
Arch Enemy - 'Nemesis'
They aren't all metal, but they are all awesome. All guitar orientated, but mostly heavy songs, bar the odd one.
I grew up with Metallica and I worshipped them. I stopped liking them after the Black album. But to be honest, Death Magnetic and this new albums have brought me back. Hail the mighty HETFIELD!!
I concur!
Death Magnetic was masterful both sonicly and lyricly!
I might be late, but you should check out Beyond Magnetic.
Now that we’re dead is my favorite song on this album
You are my fav 'reactors'. You love rock and metal and that is easily feelable. Keep on giving us reactions and i bet you can convince at least 3% more people to listen to good music. Super positive. Great stuff
Keep rockinnnnn \m/
Since your doing the "Trujillo" era Metallica (referring to their current bassist, legendary Robert Trujillo), I highly recommend late 80's early 90's Suicidal Tendencies, a good jam is Go 'n' Breakdown, Trujillo was a major force in that band. The guitarist in that era, Rocky George, is one of my personal favorite ax players, Vin I think you will dig Rocky George. Another "Trujillo hit" is the band is Infectious Grooves
JINJER - Pisces (Live Session)
Look at our catalogue... you may be presently surprised !
oh sorry i forgot it... watched it already :D
LoL Jinjer is a good band too. Check out another one of their songs :)
