So seeing them live on their Hardwired stadium tour...They opened with Hardwired and straight into Atlas Rise which is a tad faster live, with Hetfield's relentless downstroke riffage,, the chorus is absolutely perfect!!
I like that it doesn’t follow the typical Metallica song structure. One of the best Lars drumming songs since the black album. He actually made it interesting. It’s a pretty big theme for the whole album. Lars ate some wheaties before recording it. Not perfect drumming, still very Lars, but great for him..lol! Now that We’re Dead is pretty awesome as well.
I don't agree on any level with your criticism of the chorus. That's my favorite part of the vocals on this track. The fact James didn't just switch it up like you'd expect is what makes it work so well, it just falls right into the pocket of the bridge.
I think you’re right. Mainly it’s because it wasn’t what I was expecting to happen, it kept knocking me back. But the more I listen to it, the more I like it.
Manunkind has one of the greatest riffs James has ever played. So does am I savage, the breakdown riffs in both of those songs are criminally underrated.

The official video for this is really cool, it's short clips of the making of the song.

Heh, a song about Atlas that drops the groove, like dropping the load... who'd have thunk :)
My thinking also.
its my fave a confident band that doesnt follow your idea of how a chorus or your previous templates of whatever as a musician listening to the song
Nice react broooo,,,,

The only metallica song that has clear iron maiden influences.

@@Starcoma I get that. This song took me about three listens before it clicked in.
It's indeed a grower.
I think this is easily my favorite off the album. This or ManUnkind.

same here
One of the best choruses that Metallica have ever written and somehow you don't like it? Pffffffffff.
That’s a powerful statement to make when you’re putting it up against a litany of incredible chorus’s.
Side note: my Create a Wrestler in every wrestling game ever has been called Wakefield.
@@Starcoma I don't actually think Metallica choruses were that great until load. Megadeth have always had catchier ones up until then.
