I think it's my favourite, straight away all three songs are amazing. That's just my opinion but I'm liking this feel and no two songs are feeling directly the same which is a good thing.
It was like this with me too. I wasn't as thrilled with it the first time I listened, but after listening to it a couple of times and reading over the lyrics, I'm really digging it. Not sure if I like it as much as the other two tracks they've released from Hardwired so far, but it's still a really good song, with a chorus almost as catchy as Moth Into Flame's.
This is a song you need to listen to a few times before really getting the whole met and potatoes. it's my favorite song out of the three, it really is a 1981 NWOBHM throwback \m/
If its such a let down then dont watch the video. Turn your back to the screen, pull your hat over your eyes, put your head down, whatever you gotta do. You're not watching the video while driving or walking with your headphones in. Back in the day you went to the store and bought the album, came home and put it on and played it. Get back to those days. Listen with your ears not your eyes...
total respect in what he said...after five second of seeing the video i closed my eyes....and boom totally different feeling the song is 1000 times more intense than the video
Discussing this with a friend and as per Brian below also noticed the Iron Maiden feel. I do like riff though and for me so far this is Metallica back to doing what they do best. I have not bought a Metallica album for a while but I have this on my Xmas list.
+GALACTICCRIMINAL MetallicA should come out with a proper music video mostly because I'm envisioning an epic Spartans vs Greeks battle..don't know why but i'm getting those epic Ancient Greek battle tingles LOL
also this song grows on you the more you listen to it. i was kind of feeling dispointed at first but the second and third time i started to really like it. my ranking so far would be 1. Moth 2. Atlas 3. Hardwired.
they'r are related with the new fact of the world "everybody whants to be a star" with the social media" and we auto self destrock. Bot title said it all
I really love the lyrics on these songs. Hardwired to self destruct, how great is that of an idea and moth into flame. Rise and fall who cares at all seduced by fame a moth into the flame, so real. Makes total sense to me and it kinda reminds me of death magnetic. So hard to predict where metallica is coming from sometimes. In their minds i wonder where they think it all fits in. Yeah I really like this one too, bound by the heavy skies, atlas rise. Sweet
What I can't believe...is we have all listened now to three brand new Tallica songs......and the album ain't out yet....!....Amazing really.....this album is building nicely......Tis gunna be huge people....!
I quite like the song, the 2nd half really brought it home. For me it's the 2nd best of the 3 behind Moth. Didn't really take to Hardwired ,much at all.
Metallica meets Iron Maiden? That's the vibe I got from this song. And for the third song so far - James Hetfield's vocals have improved from previous years. It feels as if he isn't over-compensating his vocals as he had been since after the Black Album and his blowout. No "--TAH!" and "YEEAHH!" so far. He is just singing so much cleaner - possibly the best his voice has sounded since the Black Album. This one wasn't as heavy and thrashy as the last two - but I still liked it. Really gives off a Maiden vibe for me - in the rhythm section and riffs. And that's a compliment.
Early Metallica was heavily inspired by Maiden e.g The intro of Hallowed by thy Name inspired the intro to For Whom the bell tolls. It's a good thing they are going back to their roots.
TBH This is definitely not my favorite song out of the 3. I don't think it would even make the top 5 mark. Hardwired hit hard fast quick and knocked you the fuck out, moth&flame had a nice groove and progressed very well. in my opinion this one sounds a little forced. Im shocked to say i am not a fan of the drums or the vocals even. Vocals felt a little cheezy and drums were just to simple and didn't seem right. it seems like we are just along for the ride rather than leading a pack of pist off angry germans coming to blitzkrieg the fuck out of you. I also just dont watch the vid to focus on the music and it just wasnt there for me. Still crazy stoked to hear the rest of the album!
Yeah. I was a bit disappointed with this one. Don't get me wrong, it's still cool. This is just a filler B/Side type song. It's okay, and it might grow on me over time. Who knows?
Agree with your take on it. For me this is almost a leftover Death Magnetic song - Judas Kiss + Cyanide + Suicide & Redemption bridge. Was talking with a mate and something that is a let down is the actual vocal phrasing of late. There's no melody or catchiness in the vocals anymore. Its just all spat out. Moth was a kiler song, but if it wasnt for that verse (where he actually hung the vical notes) it wouldnt be the same. Still love Tallica, always will... and looking fwd to the album even though TeamRock's album review has (much like this song) made me re-evaluate my expectations.
Heard it too.. Generic riff trash.. Mediocrity at its best, with nothing to remain in your head, unlike Atlas Rise. Metallica wipe their ass with Testament.
I guess that's an easy way out..of hammering them to the wall ..or buying the album getting a upset .and giving it to The nearest rapp DJ and scratch a song out of it lol.. I have been a Metallica fan since I was 16 I'm now 46 ...the waist of air time on the radio..they will never be the same ...time to move on.... thank God for a real fuckin band with real fuckin talent....and still got what they always had and that is no surprises. MEGADEATH. ..
to be honest...i didnt like this song as much the first time..but it grows on you and im actually just jamming on it and its an amazing song the more you listen to it..moth into flame is still amazing tho
Have heard this song about a dozen times already, and of the three which has been released it has been the one that has grown the most on me to the point where I am uncertain if I don't already prefer this above the two others.
Metallica, please give it up. I can't believe any record label would waste their time and money on these guys. I saw them for Master of Puppets in 87, this is not the same band, that band died in a bus crash. This band killed Napster. So much better music out there.
At first I didn't like this song, but has grown on me. A few things that I figure are taking away from my experience: 1) The first 35 secs are unnecessary 2) I would have liked a longer solo 3) The video is distracting
that's heavy i can hear some Iron Maiden in this one !! and yes this is video is distracted but is also cool to see all behind and i also knew that this album will blow minds !! personal i'm exited about it i have the pleasure to hear Hardwired in Minneapolis and i can't wait for the US Tour
I was exactly the same. the video is distracting and the first time I watch it I thought it was an average song. But I have listened to it numerous times without the video and it gets better and better. Its fuckin unbelievable actually. my favourite so far
this is my fav of the three. LOVE the Iron Maiden Influence
Love this guys reactions.
This one didnt hit me as hard as Moth Into Flame or Hardwired but I still love it!
YOU HAVE TO LISTEN TO THE SONG AT 1.25 SPEED!!!
It's absolutely an unbelievable difference in how the song rolls, fucking amazing!
Dude!! Nailed it
Subscribed. Really friendly and entertaining character reviewing good (and sometimes bad) metal.
Thems the breaks lol Thanks for watching
Haters ... gonna hate.
This album will KICK ASS !
Love your enthusiasm for the new Metallica songs ! We love them too !
I love this song.
I love those snare rolls in the middle of the verses!
it keeps growing in you with every listen. i think it's the most complex song out of the new ones till now
exactly , song is a beast
I think it's my favourite, straight away all three songs are amazing. That's just my opinion but I'm liking this feel and no two songs are feeling directly the same which is a good thing.
It was like this with me too. I wasn't as thrilled with it the first time I listened, but after listening to it a couple of times and reading over the lyrics, I'm really digging it. true. first listen didn't like, then like 10 listens later it's pretty awesome
Once it is in your head it never leaves.... \m/
this man is fucking awesome.
You're awesome, Dude!
Agreed
when Metallica Sing we shut up and Listen!!
Dude that Riff and Solo are FIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIRRRRRRRRREEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!
best song so far
Love James' Molon Labe shirt.
Nice video! ROCK ON
It's a kick ass jam after listening to it several times
I love metallica!!!
This is a song you need to listen to a few times before really getting the whole met and potatoes. it's my favorite song out of the three, it really is a 1981 NWOBHM throwback \m/
Truly the agriest Canadian i have seen, but you is awesome :)
This song is fucking killer man. It took a few listens to understand it, but I can't stop listening now.
Love the song
If its such a let down then dont watch the video. Turn your back to the screen, pull your hat over your eyes, put your head down, whatever you gotta do. You're not watching the video while driving or walking with your headphones in. Back in the day you went to the store and bought the album, came home and put it on and played it. Get back to those days. Listen with your ears not your eyes...
I agree with you. I should have. But I also want to entertain. Upon more listening, I enjoy it a lot more.
metallica are professionals thay make there music fresh ,therfore it lasts
some bends in the solo reminds me of Death Magnetic Suicide and Redemption bends 4:34
Another kick ass song bro!!! and like you said it's Metallica!! ENOUGH SAID!!!
total respect in what he said...after five second of seeing the video i closed my eyes....and boom totally different feeling
the song is 1000 times more intense than the video
This song sounds like something I typically pass over on Kill Em All
Greatness
2:06, Hallowwed by the name^^
Discussing this with a friend and as per Brian below also noticed the Iron Maiden feel. I do like riff though and for me so far this is Metallica back to doing what they do best. I have not bought a Metallica album for a while but I have this on my Xmas list.
Wow, it actually sounds great at x1.30 speed.
this songs is awesome! 3 for 3 baby!!!! keep them coming boys!
i have the same bat-man poster.
TWINS!!! lol
Ayyee lol
channeling master of puppets 🤘
Agree about the video.
burgerkill ~ under the scars.musoc metal from indonesia.
You're quite accurate bro: I totally agree with your analysis... I fact, I told exact same things to my brother yesterday
Iron Metallica: Hallowed Be Thy Atlas
"I'm gonna like whatever they do, regardless"-THERE is the problem right there
A Star Wars fan Metal-head!
{These are my people!}
I think they named it NWOBHM for a reason, it's an homage to what inspired the band. That's my take on it.
+GALACTICCRIMINAL MetallicA should come out with a proper music video mostly because I'm envisioning an epic Spartans vs Greeks battle..don't know why but i'm getting those epic Ancient Greek battle tingles LOL
I also dream of Spartans and Greeks....Only they tar and feather me and make me sing and dance the macarena
LOL
actually spartans are greeks rolf
also this song grows on you the more you listen to it. i was kind of feeling dispointed at first but the second and third time i started to really like it. my ranking so far would be 1. Moth 2. Atlas 3. Hardwired.
the lyrics are poetically written! out of all 3 songs I really like this one
Jaymz always try hard on lyrics... no one cares, but he gives is best at that craft.
they'r are related with the new fact of the world "everybody whants to be a star" with the social media" and we auto self destrock. Bot title said it all
John Cross i agree
I really love the lyrics on these songs. Hardwired to self destruct, how great is that of an idea and moth into flame. Rise and fall who cares at all seduced by fame a moth into the flame, so real. Makes total sense to me and it kinda reminds me of death magnetic. So hard to predict where metallica is coming from sometimes. In their minds i wonder where they think it all fits in. Yeah I really like this one too, bound by the heavy skies, atlas rise. Sweet
it reminds me of good old "and justice" album . LIKE IT V MUCH
second half is better than the first, best thing about this song is it puts them back on tour in the us
enjoyed the music more than the video... it has more energy that way.
It's one of those songs that grows on you more and more every time you hear it hah at least for me
Metallica! !!!!!!
What I can't believe...is we have all listened now to three brand new Tallica songs......and the album ain't out yet....!....Amazing really.....this album is building nicely......Tis gunna be huge people....!
THEY SHOULD BE CALLED ..."'METALLIGONE"...
Yeah,,....Holy Shit Metallica is back...
I think people complain because this one is not as fast as the other 2, i think its ok. It sounds like a Maiden song.
sounds like Metallic. Iron maiden may sound like Metallica - that WAY.
Oh shut up poser.
I quite like the song, the 2nd half really brought it home.
For me it's the 2nd best of the 3 behind Moth. Didn't really take to Hardwired ,much at all.
rock on brotha!
Iron-Tallica....or metalimaiden
roderic winkel that was my thought also!!!!
roderic winkel yeah i thought too
New songs take a couple times listening to them. The more I listen to them the more they grow on you!!!
Metallica meets Iron Maiden? That's the vibe I got from this song. And for the third song so far - James Hetfield's vocals have improved from previous years. This one wasn't as heavy and thrashy as the last two - but I still liked it. Really gives off a Maiden vibe for me - in the rhythm section and riffs. And that's a compliment.
Yeah, that's probably because that melody is 2 notes short of being completely stolen from Maiden.
cueballB Lol, more like heavily inspired- but I definitely see what you mean.
Early Metallica was heavily inspired by Maiden e.g The intro of Hallowed by thy Name inspired the intro to For Whom the bell tolls.
It's a good thing they are going back to their roots.
never underestimate Lars' drumming in this song fuckin epic \m/
This will be for ever be my favourite Metallica song :D
Here is a band that may surprise you.
"Let Go" or "Feed the Machine" by RED
TBH This is definitely not my favorite song out of the 3. I don't think it would even make the top 5 mark. Hardwired hit hard fast quick and knocked you the fuck out, moth&flame had a nice groove and progressed very well. in my opinion this one sounds a little forced. Well put. I feel the same way
Yeah. I was a bit disappointed with this one. Don't get me wrong, it's still cool. This is just a filler B/Side type song. It's okay, and it might grow on me over time. Who knows?

Man, watch the video at 1.25 speed, it's fucking 100x better, and I liked the original!
Nice tune I like it, but I LOOOOOOOOVED Moth into flames after the 3rd note, so...
But it's AWESOME
Do Stronghold by Testament. I just want to see you face...
I just heard it. Fast, very technical... and boring.
This is way more boring. Boring and predictable.
grab a tissue lol
Heard it too.. Generic riff trash.. Mediocrity at its best, with nothing to remain in your head, unlike Atlas Rise. Metallica wipe their ass with Testament.
You don't know shit about metal.
I love this! I get a little European sound during the solo section before the last verse.
Great track. Catchy!
had the same reaction
billy gibbons loves metallica
In the solo is a part of suicide and redemption
Maiden influence coming out in this . Fucking great song Metallica
MEGADEATH. ..
Like Iron Maiden and Kill Em All had a child
ppl hate this song becuse of video, go watch rihanna if thats what you are up to.
Geat vid! Keep bro it up bro!
I feel the whole point of this video is not to just release a new song but to show that they had fun while making the album.
The more I listen to it the more it grows on me. Metallimaiden
mitchell andrew I thought the same thing man its more melodic in the style maiden would do but with metallicas flair haha
The Metal Maiden
What an epic face in every reaction video :)))
to be honest...i didnt like this song as much the first time..but it grows on you and im actually just jamming on it and its an amazing song the more you listen to it..moth into flame is still amazing tho
I'm getting some Iron Maiden vibes from this song, Is it just for me, first song to come to mind was Aces High.
Lolol @ your faces man, so funny. Great video! just subscribed. Cheers!
A little shorter?
The ideal length for a metal song is 8+ minutes. This is the best thing Metallica has done since Puppets.
I agree not as good as the first two but still dig it, galacticcriminal u are awesome. Best review I've seen so far.
this is a great song I like it more everytime I hear it.
I love this song but I felt the same way about the video.
I would never review a new song after just one listen. It took me three listens to decide if I like the song or not. I like it a lot :)
Have heard this song about a dozen times already, and of the three which has been released it has been the one that has grown the most on me to the point where I am uncertain if I don't already prefer this above the two others.

You got that right.
Dude, get over it. Get into your time machine and go back to 1987. Are you doing the same thing that you did in 1987?
stephen smart You're an idiot.
metallica is recording this album on their own label so the only people "wasting money on them" are themselves.
the new album has 3 disc for the deluxe edition. with 15 new songs, and a few live songs. so not a lot of content but just right
At first I didn't like this song, but has grown on me. A few things that I figure are taking away from my experience: 1) The first 35 secs are unnecessary 2) I would have liked a longer solo 3) The video is distracting
No Id I had pretty much the same thoughts.
Try Porter - La China, a mexican rock/experimental band.
This one and Moth Into Flame remind me of some of the more recent Iron Maiden.
Lars confirms that Metallica will release music videos for all 12 songs from new album.
Bullshit
Teema Darwinisti Yeah, it's true man
Link then pls
www.ultimate-guitar.com/news/upcoming_releases/lars_confirms_it_metallica_to_release_music_videos_for_all_12_songs_from_new_album.html
I wonder how many of them will be filmed with a zero budget like this video for Atlas, Rise! :D
that's heavy i can hear some Iron Maiden in this one !!
and yes this is video is distracted but is also cool to see all behind
and i also knew that this album will blow minds !! personal i'm exited about it
i have the pleasure to hear Hardwired in Minneapolis and i can't wait for the US Tour
Some good riffs in it, but all in all... doesn't beat Moth Into Flame and Hardwired.
tsjoencinema hardwired>Atlas,Rise!> Moth into Flame
You are right. The video takes away from the brilliance that the song contains. Try listening without the video.
I was exactly the same. the video is distracting and the first time I watch it I thought it was an average song. But I have listened to it numerous times without the video and it gets better and better. Its fuckin unbelievable actually. my favourite so far
great vídeo man! \,,/
Hell no, the Hammett part needed to be long to give it that old school feel. My main complaint in rock music today is the lack of skilled leads.
