It was sort of raspy from the alcohol and smoking and why it's cleaner today being sober over a decade. But at least he can still pull it out of his hat of tricks, need be.
Thebiggestbeast111 Oh I definitely hear it, but your reason why it's changed is just simply dumb. His voice changed a lot from mid eighties to late nineties way before dude got sober, cause you know that's how getting older works. If you think the reason he sounds different now compared to mid 80's is due to him not smoking and drinking heavily, then you might wanna do some research into what the aging process does to the human body, which includes the vocal cords.
Abusing the body with smoking and drinking unquestionably affects the vocals. Not only that, abuse works in more insidious ways -- robbing singers of the energy, motivation, and inspiration to practice their craft. Of course aging affects singing, but aging plus abuse adds up to declining vocals. Hetfield has clearly taken care of himself. He has even lost some weight, which helps the diaphragm.
I personally feel like this was the answer to the picky fans questions as to whether they can still play stuff like they used to. Metallica's answer was "Yes we can, we just don't want to."
AcrylicSuperman This album was made for the fans. Stop complaining. It has sounds for every fan, it has Thrash Metal, Classic Heavy Metal, Doom influenced sounds, Hard Rock and Blues, too. I guess I heard some Punk in Now That We're Dead.
Moameth Dark Rider don't mistake my words for complaining. I actually enjoy the album. I just think it is a middle finger to those stuck in the past. lol
i consider it more "yes, we can still play like this. and right now, we felt like doing it." Metallica has nothing to prove anymore, so i feel like Spit Out the Bone was born from a genuine desire to play in the style of their earlier 80s albums
In my opinion: One of Metallica's best songs, not since Justice or Puppets or anything like that, one of their best, period. I love pretty much everything about this song: The vocals, the lyrics, the riffs, the bass and the drums. Everything is just on point. We get fast, melodic, slow & heavy all in this one song and it all sounds magnificent. The melodic lead and the part right after with vocals ("Stop breathing and dedicate to me!") is SO good and SO beautiful in an otherwise heavy, gritty song but it still fits in so well. This track left me speechless and wanting more, which arguably is exactly what a closing song is supposed to do.
The "stop breathing" part gave me chills! Best part for me. I only wish it didn't break down (tempo-wise) right after that. Feel like this part of the song is a little of fat that could be trimmed. But then Kirk's second solo comes in blows me away. Unbelievable song.
Might be an unpopular opinion but imo Master of Puppets got beaten. Hardwired is the best Metallica album now. Yeah, I consider the entire MoP album inferior to this.
hands down, dude this song it's at the same level as Disposable Heroes, Ride The Lightning, better than tfe of sanity, better than fight fire with fire.
My Apocalypse was a good track and has those killer riffs in the middle section. But Spit Out The Bone just left me with that "FUCK YES" feeling you get like when you heard their old albums for the first time.
When he says "man overthrown" at 2:37 it sounds like a journey back in time.. Crazy to hear he can still do that! Or should I say: do it again? Because he hasn't sounded like that since black album.
I don’t think they ever lost their way I just think that musicianship wise they wanted to try other things styles tastes etc. this song Caps the album off and kind of proves that they never lost the ability for thrash and I do truly think that in this time there at the point of just making musicThey want to hear because there isn’t any really good bands out there doing this kind of music anymore there is a small handful but the music scene has changed so much that I think they are just in their own bubble and I are like fuck it let’s see if anyone else still likes this stuff and the answer is yes yes we do but no one does it quite as well as they do. My biggest imperfection with other bands is the music is OK but the singing or the voice is usually generally middle of the road sound wise they may have a good grimy soul but they can’t really sing hold a note And they’re all in drop D or D tuning What happened to good singing with good music? Metallica Still combines of them both well and a lot of other bands just stick with the cookie monster voice which is OK but I personally like to hear real singing with kick ass riffs once in a while
This song is like... when I think I've heard it all and it can't get any better, there comes something - the "bass solo", the harmonies, the double bass - and I'm going crazy like a little boy xD
Speaking of Damage, Inc., underneath the guitars in the bridge, Cliff overdubbed some distortion bass. Kinda similar to the intro of Orion, just this massive spatial sound.
The only thing I wanted on this album that we didn't get unfortunately was one of their cool +8min instrumental songs. Always love their instrumentals... every album should get one.
Eamon Ahern that one behind the scenes video from the making of Death Magnetic where Rob was playing the acoustic flamenco style was awesome. His bass skills translated awesomely
I really hate his drumming on the first Riff, snare snare snare snare snare snare snare snare snare snare snare snare snare snare snare snare, it's dogshit, a talented drummer would pummel that to bits with a double bass and it would sound awesome, instead he's taking weight away from it. There's a few other crappy drumming bits on the album like the plastic weightless 'toms' on 'Now that were dead', and the excessive use of the snare on Atlas ...he does a 16 beat snare fill at one point. beside the few shitty bits, I am really enjoying the album.
This song may actually go down as one of the best hard rock/metal/heavy metal/thrash metal however you wanna classify it as EVER. Literally every single thing about this song is amazing, the mix, the arrangement, the lyrics and vocals, the tempo, everything flows so well together it's literally like God made this himself. It's literally like a mix of every #1 hit song from each of their albums combined. I can't even fully describe how this song kicks so much ass. While its hard to compare a new badass song to an older hit, especially people who just automatically assume Master is their best song ever, but you really have to look at both evenly. Because this may very well be close to their best song ever.
The Jersey Ninja master didn't stick with me. just feels plain after all these years. This jam is damn flawless to me, and the mixing is almost next level I've never felt as smashed by songs as this album in a long time. I hope it sticks because right now it's my all time Metallica song
SemperFi77 when I first read the title a few months ago I knew I'd like this song but..... GODDAMN!!!!! I was no near ready for what was in store.... bad fucking ass!!!!
***** oh shut the fuck up with that dumb ass, "Burton , man!" Bullshit...theyre awesome they're the biggest band in the world!!! The whole world can't be wrong....
***** oh and that's a FACT right?.... I don't listen to Bon Jovi....I don't like Nickelback...hell I don't like Slipknot, Five-finger Deathpunch, or 95% of anything on any fucking radio anywhere....but I know something good when I hear it....Metallica is killing it...nobody sounds like them.....nobody plays like them or write like them......and as for the metal church thing, you follower, I heard those songs...and no...nope....not the same
Spit Out The Bone sounds like a song that was written during the 80's but for some reason was forgotten until discovered again in 2016. If I would put it in an album it would probably fit the most in ...And Justice For All I think, young James (pre-Jason era) wouldn't have been able to sing it as well I think. Truly an amazing song, and I can't wait to hear it performed live and I wouldn't be surprised if it becomes a new staple in their setlists like Master of Puppets and Seek and Destroy.
Such a heavy song. I'm used to screaming etc., but this is just the next level of heavy. When he says 'man overthrown' I had flashbacks to early Metallica. Love it.
This song is the best song they've done in two decades. It's up there with Master of Puppets, Creeping Death, Harvester of Sorrow, and other classic Metallica songs. This is the album they should have done after Justice or TBA.
You can't really tie this to any one song or even album from their past. To me, this song is the magnum opus of their collective evolution over the past 35 years. It combines some of their best from across the years melded so well with a flavor of modern American metal that they haven't really shown before. I have been a fan of the older stuff for a long time, but I believe this is a new peak. It was a long time coming, but this album was worth the wait! A thought that struck me after several more listens. In Kirk's second solo each time the solo shifts it's like he's moving through styles of the early albums. kill em all, lightning, puppets, justice, black and then a melodic newer modern style. Thoughts?
hey somebody that agrees with me been a fan since they started first 3 albums are on a pedestal that can't be touched but this album has so many styles and eras blended together perfectly this is in my top four epic metallica albums list first 3 and the new one justice drops to number 5 for me anybody wondering if I had to pick one album its puppets by a sliver but generally don't rank the first 3 albums because their all number one epic albums
A few weeks ago an old friend of mine asked if I had heard the new Metallica. I said yeah, it's pretty good, I heard it on the radio. Hardwired? He said no, Moth into flame. I'll fwd you the video, I know you were a huge Metallica fan back in high school..pre-black.. you're gonna love this shit. I watched it and holy fuck... I probably watched that video 10 fucking times. Then atlas rise video released.. I immediately got on amazon and pre ordered the album. I have not taken the cd out of my truck since. Me and my 11 yr old twins have been jamming to it on their way to school, on my way to work. I cannot pick a favorite off this album. Halo on fire definitely is in there, that is a so well put together song and the ending is just fucking awesome! Spit out the bone is definitely a mixture of old thrash Metallica with a little new twist to it. But this album kicks FUCKING ASS!!!!!! To the legends of Metallica, huge thumbs up guys! You boys killed it with this one!
I would definitely put this song on RTL. The riff reminds me a lot of Fight Fire with Fire and the middle part where James sings "Stop breathing and dedicate to me" gives me an Escape vibe.
So many styles of Metallica packed into one song, you can see the influence from Ride, Justice and clearly some Magnetic. Its effective, it's trashy, great lyrics and a lot of changes. Love it, one of the best songs of Hardwire for sure.
this song is fuckin epic intense and Kirks second solo was fuckin nasty thats a similar solo like Iron Maidens Phantom Of The Opera 100% fuckin awsome shit here and AWSOME FUCKIN ALBUM
Born to the Vulcan Sarek and the human Amanda Grayson, Spock had a troubled childhood due to his mixed heritage. On his homeworld, he was repeatedly bullied and tormented by full-blooded Vulcan children, who wished to incite the emotions of his human nature. For a time, he grew up alongside his older half-brother Sybok, until the older brother was cast out for rejecting logic. Sarek supported Spock's scientific learning and his application to the Vulcan Science Academy. However, Spock was rejected his acceptance into the Vulcan Science Academy on the basis that they would never fully accept someone who was only half-Vulcan. Because Spock did not enter the VSA, and sought to join Starfleet instead, he did not speak to his father for the following 18 years. And the name's Kurt goddamit.
Perfect ending song..like damage or dyers ....great song, already a classic !!! impressive as they are ein their 50s but have energy like the 80s period....love the song ...
I usually don't watch reaction videos but this song is song is so fucking great I had to see if other people felt the same way I did when I first heard it. I've been a fan since '87 and this is the song I've been waiting for them to make for 20 years.
No kidding about James singing "Spit out the bone". I was expecting him to go, "SPIT OUT THE BONE'AAAHHH!" Instead we got something closer to his 80's vocal style. Not exactly the old James Hetfield bark I wanted to hear, but close enough.
Love your videos man! As someone that loves guitar harmonies, I enjoy watching you get amped up when you hear them. The first time I heard the guitar harmonies in the middle of this song, my soul felt amped up and at peace at the same time. That's the type of riff that I've been waiting for from Metallica for a long time.
Best fucking shit I've listened to since Dystopia. I love that 2 of my favorite bands (maybe after Mastodon and Tool) have returned with such good albums. Freaking love it man, this song is one of their best EVER, just as good as the top songs of their first albums. The fast parts also remind me of bands like Exodus and Overkill, which is a great thing! So impressed, specially after hearing the other slow-paced songs (which I also enjoyed btw, even tho it seems not everyone did). 8/10 Album, 11/10 song.
The whole album is a fucking masterpiece I haven't been this excited about metallica since 1991!! I'm ashamed I doubted metallica and turned my back on them...been listening to it nonstop and it has not gotten old at all!! the riffs the hooks..James voice!! blown away
This song is Epic and what I want to here when I put on a Metallica Song. This is the best song from all the new songs that were just released. I can see many saying this will be the best song on the album.
After almost four years, this is still my favourite reaction of this song (and entire album). No acting drama and extra's to get views or wanting to be extra funny or whatever (I'm not gonna name the channels who over-reacting, haha) But just a genuine reaction of a Metallica fan hearing the song for the first time and pays attention to every chorus and verse and riffs & stuff and just being excited the tallica boys can still put out some good thrash metal just as youre reaction on Hardwired, wich you just looked nervous because you were so pumped for hopefully a killer song and that made it real genuine. (Sorry if i mispelled etc, i'm Dutch, but i think you know what i mean :) ) Well done dude.
This kind of video remains me about my teenage when my friends and I used to analyze each part of the songs we listened. It didn't matter if it was the first or the thousand time, we loved doing that with every metal song. I believe this is a very own characteristic of metal. Only metal fans do this, and it's one of many things I love of this music. Nice video by the way.
To me it sounds like a song that could have been on an EP in between Master and Justice, with Cliff still in the band, just before he left us. Just throwing it out there..... One of their best things in 30 years - which, to my ears anyway, goes to show that if Metallica still "wanted" to be a full on thrash band then they would still be the kings of thrash. But, as we all know, they don't want to be limited to just being a thrash band anymore.
This is by far the best off the new album. James vocals were on point I love his voice on the line Spit out the Bone. As far as the bass it sounded like a homage to Cliff. Overall this song is a masterpiece.
Dude your reaction is so hilarious and awesome at the same time, it makes this song even more awesome :P Your expression at every new part is just cool. Definitely my favourite on this album.
I totally reacted the same way you did when I first heard the song, I had to hear it again after my first time! EVERYTHING came together for them in this song.
in case you were wondering on what kind of affect the bass had when Rob did the lead riff or solo going into the next section after the 2nd chorus, it had a distortion to it, and it made it sound badass
Summary : 0:58 Ok ! 1:25 Uhh ! 1:30 Ok ! 1:49 Uhh ! 1:54 Ok ! 2:31 Uhh ! 2:36 Uhh ! 2:42 Uhh ! 3:10 Uhh ! 3:30 Wow ! 3:32 Uhh ! 3:35 Oh ! 3:39 What ? 3:42 Uhh ! 3:48 Ok ! 3:53 Wow ! 4:20 Wow,ok ! 4:24 Uhh ! 4:36 Uhh ! 4:55 Uhh ! 5:03 Wow ! 5:21 Yes ! 5:42 Uhh ! 5:44 Ok ! 5:52 Uhh ! 6:19 Wow ! 6:21 Ok ! 6:40 Uhh, ok ! 6:54 Yeah ! 7:44 Yeah ! 8:13 Wow ! 8:40 Wow ! 9:03 Wow ! 9:48 Wow ! 9:55 Wow ! 10:24 Jesus ! 10:38 Holy shit ! 10:51 Jesus ! 12:00 Peace, out ! btw: Love your reaction and since my music- journey went from metallica to Trance, to Chopin, Rachmaninov, Liszt, to the classical romantic era like bruckner, mahler, wagner, name it... in general , i always had "one ear" at metallica. back in the days my jurney endet with reload and from "kill em all" to ""reload i was fine with them. ( only track i didn´d like at all was " jump in the fire" !!! :-) ) Hearing spit out the bone for the first time i immediately felt that this is something VERY Special. Top 3 metallica song at least !!! Like more of the other reaction-videos-mates i was surprised at the same sections of the song like "uhh! ok ! what ? :-) ng, Stefan.
Great reaction Saw!! I’ve been trying to get everyone I know to listen to this track. They have either absolutely loved the song, or they’ve hated it. I’m like you. I say this I’m an instant classic!!
Love Love Love this song as a Huge Metallica Fan... so Ready to Hear this Live!!!! Looks like we will have to wait to hear it next Summer live from what I'm hearing.
If the albums was: 1. Hardwired 2. Atlas, Rise! 3. Now That We're Dead 4. Moth Into Flame 5. Halo On Fire 6. Confusion 7. Here Comes Revenge 8. Spit Out The Bone, it would have been a 50 minute modern metal album perfection.... but there are 4 more songs on this and they suck
A Bond the whole album is good. you just like the heavier stuff. wich is okay, but metallica is now more mature, and aren't afraid of doing what they want
For me, those songs could have really grow to be more solid tracks, even though i enjoyed them all, and really feel them or they just catch me in some , they are to long and repetitive, and that is very clear, if you cut some innecesary parts, those will really be more apreciated
It is arguably the best song on this album. It has the complexity, the tribute to Cliff, the strength, the raw power. It is nowadays unique equivalent of AJFA.
you thought dyers eve was the last thrash song by them? i thought that as well, but metallica proved us wrong!! first thrash song in 28 years!!! i have been a fan for a long time, and i know EVERY SONG THEY HAVE EVER WRITTEN!!! let me just say... finally!! a thrashy song since dyers eve!!!
Thrash Machine yes I have lol I eat, sleep, breathe, and bleed Metallica, but the problem with Death Magnetic was the production value, the tones of the instruments, and there was no reverb on James's vocals. Yes it was a drastic return to form after St. Anger... Death Magnetic is a thrashy album dont get me wrong, but again, the album is raw, not just St. Anger raw, but more of an And Justice For All type of raw, where the vocals overtakes the record.
Love the reactions! None of my friends listen to Metallica and they just look at me weird when I react to the songs a tiny bit lol. Also feels good to know I'm not the only one going crazy when they harmonize lol! Great freaking song🤘🏻
Tiziano Rabufetti Cause it's Metallica, I know what you mean but that's what divides then from Megadeth. To me they' re music serves more of a purpose then "selling out to the fans". At this point they do what they cause when it comes to making music, it's all about the riff and delivering it with not so much as speed but power, ya know.
Tiziano Rabufetti because they're not Slayer. Not every song needs to be a speed fest or full of ass-kicking aggression. Slayer's act is very stale, whereas Metallica does what they want and they generally have excelled at it. I like the variety they offer in an album.
Hell yeah, Spit Out The Bone spits you on the first listen! My reaction was the same, was blown away by variety and force, wish entire album is like this haha But that video is crazy too, gotta give it credit, it's a masterpiece! I just hate that she is assimilated too :) Must say it again, doing video for every song on the album, and releasing them together with the album is just revolutionary stuff, this is genius move by the guys!
There was a short bass solo that had distortion which was a call back to Cliff Burton. That's what makes this song epic and probably the best song on the album.
"I like that part!!" Yes, that was exactly my reaction to that same section. CHUG CHUG CHUG CHUG (Key change) "Long live machine!!" Love that transition. So frigging awesome!!
sounds like old james when he says "man overthrown...spit out the bone"...fucking epic song!
It was sort of raspy from the alcohol and smoking and why it's cleaner today being sober over a decade. But at least he can still pull it out of his hat of tricks, need be.
Thebiggestbeast111 Uh no dude, it's called getting older.
His voice changed once he sobered up back in 01/02. If you don't notice that, well, you should probably get a new set of ears.

This is one of their masterpiece songs, like Creeping Death, Master of Puppets, Damage Inc, Blackened or Dyers Eve!! Fuckin' great thrasher!!
This may be one of their most under-rated and unnoticed thrash compilations ever.
Disposable Heroes also :)
@@thal1Underrated song. Personally, I prefer battery, but Disposable Heroes is so underrated
This song is like a long lost friend you though was dead for decades come home
I thought the same haha
Yes! Exactly!
You took that comment from that bald dude's video
@@alienduce-unocero was just about to say that lmao
Here i am 4 years later lol same damn feeling lol. Didnt think I'd find this lol
I personally feel like this was the answer to the picky fans questions as to whether they can still play stuff like they used to. Metallica's answer was "Yes we can, we just don't want to."
AcrylicSuperman pretty much xD they want to play how they want. metallica is pretty much a genre by their own
AcrylicSuperman This album was made for the fans. Stop complaining.
It has sounds for every fan, it has Thrash Metal, Classic Heavy Metal, Doom influenced sounds, Hard Rock and Blues, too.
I guess I heard some Punk in Now That We're Dead.

this is the "master of puppets" of this album
Yeahh!!! It's awesome!!!
reminds med of DAMAGE INC.
Mentioning this song in the same sentence as master of puppets is blasphemy.....
This song deserves to be in the same sentence as master of puppets
Mike Recker
Not even close
In my opinion: One of Metallica's best songs, not since Justice or Puppets or anything like that, one of their best, period.

Same thing! Nobody wants to discuss it with me :(
Same for me
Mike W. same here
Same here
Mike W. Same dude u_u
that solo towards the end by kirk.....just wow no words, fucking amazing, Kirk shredding. Fuck yeah Metallica that's the Metallica we know and love
As I've read it's the only solo that he has written and not improvised over. And it's heard.
This song is what "My Apocalypse" wanted to be... and I love that song. But this one blows that away.
"My Apocalypse" and "damage inc" has a child and it's called "Spit out the bone" :)
I'd say Dyers Eve and Damage Inc gave My Apocalypse a sister!
hands down, dude
this song it's at the same level as Disposable Heroes, Ride The Lightning, better than tfe of sanity, better than fight fire with fire.

Actually sounds like a master Of puppets album song, but you're fucking right

Just one word to that song "BEAST".
Fuck Yeah!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Metallica Rules the fucking riff is awesome!!! make me think in kick all the things in my home!!!!
Red Mancunian Same feelings dude , headbanging so hard almost gonna break my neck.

The song that awakens dead people
yes.
hahahah true
Like Jesus himself !
Metallica put Whiplash, Damage Inc and a little Metal Militia into a blender and the blender "Spit Out The Bone"!
BTW, I love the distorted bass.
Excellent analogy! * Taps Beer bottle with you *
Patrick Paladin and of course they added Smirnoff
The vertical container of the blender is Fight fire with fire :)
Speaking of Damage, Inc., underneath the guitars in the bridge, Cliff overdubbed some distortion bass. Kinda similar to the intro of Orion, just this massive spatial sound.

Metalpug79 I agree I was checking to see if they did but unfortunately they did not :(
their instrumentals are always great only thing these albums are missing with that being said I love this album
Yeah they should have put together some medley of all the riffs as one song. Would have been bloody incredible
Eamon Ahern that one behind the scenes video from the making of Death Magnetic where Rob was playing the acoustic flamenco style was awesome. His bass skills translated awesomely
I love the "Dissapear like men were never HIIIIIEEEEEEER" at the end hahahaha
BATTIS94 OUR FUTURE SUPREME!!!
BATTIS94 MAN OVERTHROWN!!!
SPIT OUT THE BOOOONE...YEAH
I love Lars drumming on this song
yeah me too....even I hate lars druming....the mixing is also really good
Very snare-bass drum oriented, almost no toms used. But it sure sounds great!
I really hate his drumming on the first Riff, snare snare snare snare snare snare snare snare snare snare snare snare snare snare snare snare, it's dogshit, a talented drummer would pummel that to bits with a double bass and it would sound awesome, instead he's taking weight away from it. +Bill Hicks You just can't be satisfied huh?
Sure, I'm satisfied by a lot of things, good things, a lot of great albums i listen to, mediocre drumming doesn't satisfy me, sorry.
I seriously question the sanity of anyone who doesn't like this record.
Jason Hatherlee Haters, trolls, Megadeth fanboys, 40 year old closed minded Thrash Metal fans, etc.
Jason Hatherlee truth
Are there people who don't? One friend hates Metallica (and most metal) but even he thought the songs were good.
Walamonga 1313 Metallica die hard fanboys hate it. No body hates Metallica more than them.
I'm a die hard fan of Metallica. I love HTSD... not their best album, but one fucking great album for a middle 50's metal guys still doing this stuff.

Only normies think Master is their best, when it isn't even the best from that album.
This song is a Fn masterpiece. wow

***** palettes get limited do to saturation....
Have fun being a follower douche.... METALLICAs the shit still
***** oh shut the fuck up with that dumb ass, "Burton , man!" Bullshit...theyre awesome they're the biggest band in the world!!! The whole world can't be wrong....
***** oh and that's a FACT right?.... I don't listen to Bon Jovi....I don't like Nickelback...hell I don't like Slipknot, Five-finger Deathpunch, or 95% of anything on any fucking radio anywhere....but I know something good when I hear it....Metallica is killing it...nobody sounds like them.....nobody plays like them or write like them......and as for the metal church thing, you follower, I heard those songs...and no...nope....not the same
That bass section sounded like a homage to Pulling Teeth from Kill Em All
TheAstronomyFloyd that's exactly what i thought
WTF has happened here, I unlock my iPod this morning and it's like World War 3, we've went from Pulling Teeth to pulling insults!
Intro is very similar to metal militia as well :)
This is the track Every Metallica Fan has been waiting for!
Such a heavy song. I'm used to screaming etc., but this is just the next level of heavy. When he says 'man overthrown' I had flashbacks to early Metallica. Love it.
that slow heavy part was a straight tribute to Dimebag
Daniel Intoccia domination :')
Love that part
Doubt it, but yeah. Has a Pantera feel to it.
Which slow heavy part? Please give me a time mark
Stoyan Dimitrov 6:18 :)
James' voice in that chorus hasn't sounded that good in years. Especially at 2:38!
that second solo!! was just like listening to early Metallica for the first time!!
spit out the bone, one of their best songs for sure!. Close to master of puppets, ride the lightning etc., one word EPIC!!!
Best song of the album
I AM THE TABLE I see you everywhere I may roam
Hell YES!
there all good aye haha i love moth and halo and atlas alot
This song is the best song they've done in two decades. It's up there with Master of Puppets, Creeping Death, Harvester of Sorrow, and other classic Metallica songs. This is the album they should have done after Justice or TBA.
"What're we building to?? What're we building to? I'm ready .. .I'M REAADY.... "
Thoughts?
Largely agree. The main riff totally reminds me of Lamb Of God.
hey somebody that agrees with me been a fan since they started first 3 albums are on a pedestal that can't be touched but this album has so many styles and eras blended together perfectly this is in my top four epic metallica albums list first 3 and the new one justice drops to number 5 for me anybody wondering if I had to pick one album its puppets by a sliver but generally don't rank the first 3 albums because their all number one epic albums
best coment imo
What is it with giant floating balls in metal recently? Dream Theater did it, Megadeth, and Metallica now too
Ian McGregor dystopia vs slayer. Quick, PICK!
Battlesoldier 13 Dystopia. Slayer's great, but Megadeth just has more to offer
Ian McGregor yeah
Dystopia is shit
Ian McGregor this song has giant balls
The whole album is amazing
The riff reminds me a lot of Fight Fire with Fire and the middle part where James sings "Stop breathing and dedicate to me" gives me an Escape vibe.
yeah, and reminds me Escape too
+DownKost really
I do get and "sense" an overall Ride The Lightning vibe on this song.
Easily. It is the best song they have done since AJFA album. Easily
1:52 - 2:03 Best Riff since AJFA, it blew my mind...
Fernando Escalona Definitely
This song is one of their best songs EVER!
So fxcking good arghh
Same here
The reaction the harmonizing is the best thing about this video. Thanks for posting - really enjoyed it!
So many styles of Metallica packed into one song, you can see the influence from Ride, Justice and clearly some Magnetic. Its effective, it's trashy, great lyrics and a lot of changes.
Love it, one of the best songs of Hardwire for sure.
awhahahahaha 4:57 the song makes him see the other side of the fucking universe!!!! SPIT OUT THE BONE!!!!
Franklin Scott ha ha 😂
hahahahaha chainsaw on acid xDDD lol
Hahahahaaa
If "Dyers Eve" and "Damage, Inc." had a kid, "Spit Out the Bone" would be the result, LOL.
this song is a fucking pounder! metallica flashing some of the 80s metallica here. One of the best songs they've done imo.
Yes! When I heard this song (heck even "Hardwired to Self Destruct") I said, 'THIS is the Metallica of my youth!!'
Uh... OK.... Uh... Ok... Uh... Ok...
Hélder Tiago oohhhhh, ok. Ohh!! Ok
Jajajajaaa
Probably the best song since the Justice days, IMO.
IMO this album is the best since Justice
IMO this album is the best since Justice
This may become my 2nd favorite record after Puppets.
this song is fuckin epic intense and Kirks second solo was fuckin nasty thats a similar solo like Iron Maidens Phantom Of The Opera 100% fuckin awsome shit here and AWSOME FUCKIN ALBUM
Mike Aceto Kirk*, but yes I agree.
lol the name's Kurt and not Spock
shit i hit the wrong key lol i meant Kirk the ripper Hammett as Hetfield would call him
Born to the Vulcan Sarek and the human Amanda Grayson, Spock had a troubled childhood due to his mixed heritage.
This song is the shit...Love your reaction mine was the same. I couldn't wait till you did this one. Very awesome!
Master of Puppets Metallica came across a time machine, came here a year ago and this is the result. Goodness.
No kidding about James singing "Spit out the bone". I was expecting him to go, "SPIT OUT THE BONE'AAAHHH!" Instead we got something closer to his 80's vocal style. Not exactly the old James Hetfield bark I wanted to hear, but close enough.
This song is a fucking beast.
I can just imagine Cliff headbanging like crazy in heaven to this song!
My second favourite after Halo on Fire
Best fucking shit I've listened to since Dystopia. I love that 2 of my favorite bands (maybe after Mastodon and Tool) have returned with such good albums. Freaking love it man, this song is one of their best EVER, just as good as the top songs of their first albums. The fast parts also remind me of bands like Exodus and Overkill, which is a great thing! So impressed, specially after hearing the other slow-paced songs (which I also enjoyed btw, even tho it seems not everyone did). 8/10 Album, 11/10 song.
I think this song deserves a "Reaction Part 2" after you listen to it many times, there are so many sections and details to comment about...
The whole album is a fucking masterpiece I haven't been this excited about metallica since 1991!! I'm ashamed I doubted metallica and turned my back on them...been listening to it nonstop and it has not gotten old at all!! the riffs the hooks..James voice!! blown away
I love seeing these reaction videos, because they give the same feel of hearing this song for the first time again.
hands down!this is the best Metallica song since One (1988).hands down
This is by far my favorite song of the album. And with that, it is already one of my all time favorite songs by them.
This song is Epic and what I want to here when I put on a Metallica Song. This is the best song from all the new songs that were just released. I can see many saying this will be the best song on the album.
They somehow made the cheesiest possible video for the best song on the album :)
i can accept it as long as music imo.
CHIsiest heheh
@@Cell_Madruga hahaha
After almost four years, this is still my favourite reaction of this song (and entire album). No acting drama and extra's to get views or wanting to be extra funny or whatever (I'm not gonna name the channels who over-reacting, haha) But just a genuine reaction of a Metallica fan hearing the song for the first time and pays attention to every chorus and verse and riffs & stuff and just being excited the tallica boys can still put out some good thrash metal just as youre reaction on Hardwired, wich you just looked nervous because you were so pumped for hopefully a killer song and that made it real genuine. (Sorry if i mispelled etc, i'm Dutch, but i think you know what i mean :) )
Well done dude.
Song kicks the teeth right out of your mouth.
The world is a better place since this song came into existence.
First time I cried for a thrash metal song. After 100+ listening, still cannot believe that I witnessed something great happenning in front of me
This kind of video remains me about my teenage when my friends and I used to analyze each part of the songs we listened.
There's also two Deluxe edition only songs. Remember Tomorrow and When a Blind Man Cries. Any plans for those?
1. Those songs are covers. 2. Both of them were already released. 3. They didn't make videos for them.
+Jakub G okie dokie
Dude your reaction is so hilarious and awesome at the same time, it makes this song even more awesome :P Your expression at every new part is just cool. Definitely my favourite on this album.
I totally reacted the same way you did when I first heard the song, I had to hear it again after my first time! EVERYTHING came together for them in this song.
Haha love your reaction, you didn't know what to expect. I had to listen to this on repeat, it's too good!!!!
Definitely my favorite song on the album! \m/
When those whiners say "Metallica is dead" I show them this song :D
in case you were wondering on what kind of affect the bass had when Rob did the lead riff or solo going into the next section after the 2nd chorus, it had a distortion to it, and it made it sound badass

btw: Love your reaction and since my music- journey went from metallica to Trance, to Chopin, Rachmaninov, Liszt, to the classical romantic era like bruckner, mahler, wagner, name it... in general , i always had "one ear" at metallica. back in the days my jurney endet with reload and from "kill em all" to ""reload i was fine with them.
Master of Puppets of this album!
Best album since Master of Puppets and And Justice For All
Are you going to be reacting to Lords of Summer too?
This is awesome song the whole album is great.Been fan since 84 it got every thing fan want thrash melodic to everything else
FUCK YEAH ! BEST SONG OF THE ALBUM
LONG LIFE METALLICA !
6:17 is pure pantera. phenomenal song!!
"I fucking love that part" .
"here you go chainsaw! HERE'S 5 OF THEM IN A ROW TO END IT!!"
This song is so Ride the lightining.
React to the new Lords of Summer! So much better than the original release
I agree man. when i first heard it i honestly despised it but i listened to the new version yesterday and now i wish it was on the actual album
+Carmen Scotti It's on the deluxe edition. :)
Exveu The first version was just a Demo
"stop breathing!" ...best part
The middle part harmony is one of the nicest sounding riffs ever bro
If the albums was: 1. Hardwired 2. Atlas, Rise! 3. Now That We're Dead 4. Moth Into Flame 5. Halo On Fire 6. Confusion 7. Here Comes Revenge 8. Spit Out The Bone, it would have been a 50 minute modern metal album perfection.... but there are 4 more songs on this and they suck
I really enjoyed am I savage and dream no more
A Bond the whole album is good. you just like the heavier stuff. wich is okay, but metallica is now more mature, and aren't afraid of doing what they want
For me, those songs could have really grow to be more solid tracks, even though i enjoyed them all, and really feel them or they just catch me in some , they are to long and repetitive, and that is very clear, if you cut some innecesary parts, those will really be more apreciated
ManUnkind is one of the coolest songs Ive ever heard lol
Your reaction was everything I hoped it would be. This song is master of puppets level awesome.
Ever heard of Death Magnetic?
Dude, 4:55-5:10 I had the same reaction that you had! Literally down to the “hoping for harmonies” face lol
Damn... why in the hell they didn't made the entire album like this track?!?
9:24 It's awesome that you noticed that, cause in an interview with Robert, he says that Lars had a vision of a certain bass sound and Rob agreed.
"I like that part!!" Yes, that was exactly my reaction to that same section. CHUG CHUG CHUG CHUG (Key change) "Long live machine!!" Love that transition. So frigging awesome!!
